Application sound through BT? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I just got these cheap Chinese BT heatsets, yay! so far so good. But, I'm wondering if I ordered them for nothing. Is there a way to have application sound or music played through the BT. For example, I want to listen to Pandora or Some Mp3s on the phone thru the BT, but application sound only comes thru the phone itself, any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,

Mono Bluetooth for music

I am currently running Dudes 1.1 cupcake right now and loving every
part of it except that I can't seem to listen to my music via mono bluetooth. I have a few regular bluetooths for talking and would like to listen to my music thru them also. I read about stereo bluetooth working and all, but does it not work on mono bluetooth.
Please help..
Also, if I must get a stereo bluetooth, can you suggest were to go to get a cheap good one that will work. Thanks
bluetooth music help
someone really needs to help please.. Stuck using a standard MP3 player with CORDED headphones. .. Please guide me to getting bluetooth mono/stereo on my DUDE'S CUPCAKE ...
i wish i could get this to work as well, i have a phenominal bluetooth headset (mono) and am allowed to wear it around at work all day (but no stereo headphones) since its a product we sell, and would love to be able to listen to my mp3's aswell
Previously used a blackberry pearl with crackberry software to run MONO BLUETOOTH for my music. Now I lost that with G1. I LOVE my G1, so don't get me wrong. I just wish they had something to offer mono bluetooth music. If they did, I swear it would be perfect thanks to DUDES Cupcake.
Yep, i would like to know this to. I know it can be done because you can force the sound after the call for like 10 to 20 seconds then it goes out.

There are mono headsets that support a2dp ,why not buy one of them instead of trying to re-write the code

I could but I like my Motorola H690
more HELP
I am caving in.. I will buy a Stereo Bluetooth headset, if i am guarenteed it will work on DUDE's CUPCAKE 1.1a .. I see on the comparision chart that it doesn't support stereo bluetooth for music.. Can someone please confirm or deny this..
If confirmed, what is the cheapest bluetooth i can buy that will play my music.
If DUDE's doesnt support, what can you recommend to install to work Stereo/Mono bluetooth. I was leaning towards jf 1.51, but i would love to keep DUDE's
Thanks again
Dudes build will work with stereo bluetooth because my car's head unit will accept it and works great just not with my mono motorola headset.
Hate to bring up a older thread but I am wondering if anyone has found a way to do this. I dont want to buy a a new bluetooth because i have no use for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
^Bump. I would like to know as well.
When I pair my phone with the Bluetooth (Plantronics 925) and select options - I see it connected to phone audio and media audio. But when I play music (stock player), it plays through the speakers. I did try a Google search on this, but not seeing a solution to it

Music to my bluetooth earpiece

I've tried 2 apps and i have not been able to get them to work. I'm trying to get my music to play in my blue earpiece. I've tried Blue Audio and bluetunes and have not been able to get them to work... anyone else have any suggestions?
p.s
im not being cheap i have bluetooth headphones i just need a small earpiece to listen to music at work.
the quality is horrible from a BT headset or does that even matter...I have something on my computer that i'll post when I find it
The issue is not always because of the music player application.
Does your Bluetooth earpiece have A2DP support? If not, consider buying a new one that has, e.g., I listen through a Jabra BT8040 - no need to install any application to force an audio stream.
Forget it I think its one of the apps you tried

Well im using Jawbone 2.
Im not too concerned about quality because Im not going to have it on that loud.
I guess I may have to purchase a new earpiece to get that.... blah
it also works on my Blue Ant Q1, sounds good too. I didn't have to add any other apps or software

how i get mine to work is,i go to comm manager then set up bluetooth device,go to settings then advanced settings (additional setup options),then go to audio and enable play system sounds on a remote hands free device and it should work. hope that helps
Here is what you need to send stereo bluetooth to a mono bluetooth headset. I use it and it works great. You might have to play around with it for a bit to figure out how to work it. Just run the exe on your device and not on the computer. One exe sends the audio and one exe stops the audio.
bt audio
damn beat me to it james yes bt audio does work but i use a jawbone 2 & i route it through advanced bt settings in comm mgr i used to use it on my wing but iv graduated to my monster tp2
No need for BT app
On my TP2, there is an option in the BT settings to route system audio to the headset...this automatically plays my mp3's through my BT headset, mono or stereo. has worked well on any of the builds I have tried without needing to install any additional files or change any complex system settings.

haven't noticed that option before I remember some users were asking how to get the incoming calls ringtone and system sounds to play in their earpiece instead of on the phone.
nice find!

Bluetooth

Is there a way to modify the bluetooth code so that the "ear peice" via "bluetooth" will also give you "music" etc....
I mean if the phone detects the ear peice and plays all the calls thru the ear peice..... why cant it be hacked to also play internet music....
Thanks in advance....
pm me a fix... flame in public...
Actually, I too would like to know if this is possible. Why can't it just be detected as wireless "headphones/headset".
Although I'm using an iPhone 4 so I'm sure that it'd be more difficult to do this if it is possible.
Should work

It depends on the activity the app code is running on the host device. All audio is able to be routed to the headphones. What kind of phone are you using?
It's not as simple as wired headphones. BT has something called profiles - each profile is for doing some particular thing - like transferring files, playing music, making calls, etc. For a particular feature to be supported, both the phone and the headset has to support that particular profile. Most android versions have support for most common profiles.
Calls are possible through profiles called HSP/HFP and stereo music is possible through profile called A2DP. Most of the mono headsets which are mainly for calling support only HSP/HFP and not A2DP - that's main reason you can't play music on most mono headsets. If you buy stereo BT headsets, they come with both HSP/HFP and A2DP - meaning they can support both calls and audio.
There are apps / hacks to stream music from an android phone to a mono headset through HSP/HFP. I've never tried any - you can look for those if you want to play music on your mono BT HSP headset.

Are you able to connect the device to a computer or tablet? I think it would depend on the drivers on the device you're connecting to. What are you trying to connect to? Does it detect your earpiece?
its a jabra bluetooth ear peice.
and theres several "mono" bluetooth apps on the market/play store.
I happened to try blue tooth mono router and it works fairly well.
seems to use aprox 3 to 5% of battery in aprox 15 to 20 mins.

Bluetooth A2DP problem -- not playing through headset

Hi folks, I've been having this very frustrating problem with A2DP that I can't seem to find anywhere else on the forums.
My bluetooth headset (Nokia BH-905i) connects to my nexus 4 just fine, and I've been using it to listen to music since I get my nexus in january. But recently, every time I connect my headset, and I go to play any music or other sounds that play through the media channel, it comes out the speaker on the phone. In addition, when I use the volume slider I get the "speaker" icon instead of the "bluetooth" icon that I used to get.
My bluetooth headset has worked fine since the OTA update, it's just very recently (last week or two) that this issue has been happening.
The first time it happened, a simple reboot would fix it, now I can reboot and re-pair the headset all I want, it just won't work.
Has anyone else had this issue?
PS. I will also add that the next/previous track buttons still work, but the play/pause button DOES NOT! Very strange!!!
Am I seriously the only one with this problem?

What music player app are you using? That could be the problem right there. I sometimes have this problem with my JVC Arsenal head unit, but usually disabling and re-enabling bluetooth does the trick. Don't have to unpair or reboot, just toggle BT on and off.
Anyone know how to get the track info to transmit? It used to work with Apollo and Pandora, but it won't work with Spotify or anything else. In fact, it doesn't work at all on the N4
I use DSub, but I've tried google music, and also any other "media" sounds don't go through the headset as well ie: Youtube, games, etc.

have you checked the device profiles in the bluetooth menu? there is an option for phone audio, and an option for media audio, check them both
Yes I'm sure, I've also toggled them multiple times to try and get it working...
I also have this same problem. I'm using CM 10.1 nightlies
For some reason I able to pair my phone but not the audio.
In the Bluetooth settings though I only have the option for phone audio and not media audio. After checking on a couple of forums, it shows that my radio does support Bluetooth streaming through a2dp, but for some reason I cannot get it to work on my phone...
Edit:
It seems as though A2DP is broken in CM 10.1 as in stock android roms. I'm not 100% about this, but thats what it looks like.
Hi,
I do use AD2P audio a lot, and never had this issue (Sony MW1).
I m using exclusively AOSP or AOKP based roms (never use stock CM 10.1 because of how silly big is the navbar), but I can give it a shot during my next flashing session for testing
I don't have any problem pairing the audio. The checkbox goes and the headset actually beeps. It's connected, android just isn't sending the audio to the headset.
Me too

I've got the same issue.
I have tried with both jawbone and jabra headsets, no joy.
If I toggle bt on/off/on, connect the headset and then try playing music immediately I get ~1 second of audio over bluetooth before it goes silent.
I'm currently on PA 3.15 with moles kernel, but am going to try some other kernel/rom combos.
if anyone knows which logs i should be looking at i'm happy to upload them
Not quite the same problem, my music plays out of the phone speaker. Also I'm running stock rom.

If i wait more than 1 or 2 seconds after connecting my headset it comes out of the speaker also, as the bt media connection dies. I only get the little bit of audio if i hit play right after I connect the headset
I managed to find a very strange work around...
I installed this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5tYXhpc3Rhci5tb25vYmx1ZXRvb3RoZnJlZSJd
I turned on the app, and I could listen to music over mono mode (which sounds AWFUL). I then turned the app off, and when I changed the volume with the volume buttons I noticed the volume bar was displaying the bluetooth icon instead of the speaker icon.
My app was playing music, I didn't hear anything, but my headset was still outputting the characteristic 'hiss' of being in mono mode. So I went into the bluetooth settings and turned off mono mode, and now it is playing music through A2DP finally... We'll see if this problem occurs again and I'll see if the same process fixes it again. I'm just glad it's finally working again without resetting my phone.
I just wanted to update my post for anyone else who might have this problem in the future. I've performed this fix once before my last post and I haven't had to do it again, I've also uninstalled that app and everything is still working great.
It worked for me too!
Thanks to PickleHead and his workaround I'm listening again.
Thanks!!!
Media audio VS. Call Audio
Hi,
I have Samsung galaxy S3 with android 4.1.2 connected to my fordAudio BT device.
I am playing music using the original media player that came with the Android.
The BT connects quickly, but I can't hear the media I'm playing.
Recently I have discovered a "workaround":
When I disable the "call audio" (using the BT menu in settings) and leaves only the "media audio" checked, I am able to hear the media play.
If I re-enables the "call audio", the sound mutes immediately.
Does this helps to understand the issue?

I'm having exactly the problem described here, but this solution doesn't work for me. I have a Galaxy S4 and the bluetooth media audio sometimes works when I boot the phone up, but later it doesn't work. I tried this MonoBluetooth app and it doesn't seem to help. When I tell it to turn on the the mono signal, it says the media is disconnected even though the bluetooth module says it is connected to the AD2P device with media audio. On cases where it does connect, it seems to work, but in that case the bluetooth works with out this app fine.
I'm running 4.2.2 and see this on both the MDK and ME7 code base. I'm looking for a good soluton. I tried the Bluetooth Fix Repair on Google Play, but it can't seem to find my bluetooth configuration folders.

I have had exactly this problem for a couple of days with my S4 connected to my Jabra Freeway car speaker. Also in my case, disabling call audio makes the music pass through, but then I can't use the phone via the speaker which is sort of the whole purpose of the thing!
But I just found a simple workaround: I simply called my phone from another phone to check that phone audio passed through with both options enabled. It did. But it also cured the problem: After the call, media audio worked again - with both options checked.

I'd be interested to know if this fixes the problem for any length of time. Occasionally, and usually after a reboot, I can use the media audio, but then it fails when I try it again. Fiddling with the connections and apps sometimes makes it come back on, but usually only for a short while. While it is connected, it seems to stay connected.

[Q] Play music thru BT while Headphones plugged

Scenario I'd like to see:
Wired Headphones plugged in
Bluetooth connected to audio receiver
Music plays through audio receiver
Calls go through wired headphones
If a call comes in it pauses the music app and transfers audio to headset. As soon as call complete music continues.
I can get this to work on my Scotts Clean Rom Note 2 and iPhone 5 fine but I can't seem to find a setting or app that can allow this behavior.
Why?
I much prefer hearing music through my car speakers and if I get a call it's much easier to hear and talk through the wired headset.
Anyone else have this use case? Figured out an answer?
Just a thought since I haven't tired this yet.... What happens when you turn off phone audio(but leave media) for the car in the bluetooth settings on the phone?
