Do I simply back up my other GIFs and BMPs and overwrite them with these ones?
What about the .ini file?
Sorry, now I've read the ReadMe file
But I tried to copy out my old files and can only see the bmp files in Explorer on my PC. If I ask for the folder properties, the PC knows the gifs are in there but just won't show them. Any ideas?

That's no problem, yuou need photoshop or fireworks to view gif files. Maybe paint will view them also, i don't know
davehutch, yes in order to backup your existing dialler files you just need to copy the files in your PPC "windows" folder to a desktop folder. If you don't see all the files on desktop, go in Tools -> Folder Options and make sure that "Hide Protected Operating System Files" is not ticked.
I made a backup of the files and was able to restore backto default skin by just copying the files back.
Kept the intelidialler skin though ;-) I liked that, much neater than the default.
are the icons BRN or PNG. I just custom made my icons for the 3X2 media launcher, should i make new icons for the Media Hub??
i made them all PNG, i know it can be converted to BMp then to BRN, but then where do i store them on the phone>?
also are PNG's ok ?
any help is thanked!

I'm not sure about PNG's , but i use BRN.
Store it in Windows Folder, and if you are replacing the originals due to haveing the same name file, you need an explorer that can overwrite system files. ex. resco explorer( Thats what i use whenever i copy files and need overwriting )
ohh i see just use the samfile name and overwrite them.
do the media hub and 3 X2 launcher have different size icons or it doesn't really matter?
i was hoping for when Touch settings comes out for us on the vogue, we can just select the picture file manually? But i want to convert the pics to BRN. Got it!

how were you able to overwrite the file if its under windows directory with 2000+ files? im using memmaid. and it wont let me see all the 2000+ files under \windows
i actually have to create a new folder and have it point to that directory using the registry.

I took the originals BRN of the Music, Sprint TV, and On Demand icons and convert it to size so that it will fit properly when i am playing Audio Manager with the functions displayed. Just like in the picture.
dont need that , need to know do i need to make different icon sizes for the 3X2 launcher or the Media hub... I can also just make PNG then save them as BMP, then convert them to BRN.??? THen when touch settings comes out, i can just use the icons through that prog. My question is where do i save the pics. I want to keep original pics there as well. But right now i also want these pics.
Ive been trying to edit the Quicklauncher skin .xml to launch other apps instead of the HTC Album and the Actionscreen, but after I overwrite the existing xml's with the edited the plugin doesnt display. I edited with Frontpage the copied to devices' \Windows folder using Resco. Could somebody double check me to see where I missed it?
make sure your image files are 24 bit depth... your menu may be there just not visible...
I didnt do anything to the images, just changed the links.
do you have the original files
someone correct me if im wrong but you cant just use frontpage to edit the xml files, you have to edit the xml files in something that keeps it in windows ce format. you can use notepad. just right click on the file and select open with and select notepad

I think the problem is you're using *.LNK
AFAIK you can only make links to *.EXE
for the photos I dont see any ql_pimg.lnk in my windows folder, if you change that to \windows\pimg.exe it will sure open your pictures.

Did the lnk and exe combinations, didnt work. Instead the plugin doesnt even load after the overwrite.

I'm running into the same problem. Once I overwrite the XML files and place the new Icons, I get a blank plugin once I start it up.
Ok, I've found the cab that removes the top curtain. NoTopCurtain.cab removes it, and every search I did only lead me to threads asking the same with no solution...

I've seen the semi-transparent bars in peoples screenshots, would somebody care to tell me how this is done?
Get your device. ActiveSync it. Explore it. Find file 18c460d8_manila in Windows folder. Copy it to your PC. Save it to a folder somewhere.
Download Manila Editor. Select Path in Manila Editor > Point it to the folder you just saved the 18c460d8_manila file. You'll see a blank image listed in manila editor.
Export it and open it with your favourite gfx editing program. Edit it to a semi transparent colour. If I remember rightly it's a 2pixel wide (128 high) image that 'spans' across the screen.
Use manila editor to replace the file with your newly edited image. Then copy the 18c460d8_manila file back to your device in \Windows.
Wallah! All done. You can find everything you need via Searching and reading!
thanks
Thanks, I should be able to get it done
i have a 1864da05_manila .... but no 18c460d8_manila
your sure its in the windows directory? I have a juicy 2.5 telus cdma phone, could it be different?
This seems like too tedious of a process for me >.> Anyone wanna do that with their file and uploada their modified 18c460d8_manila file?

hi,
actually TF3D1 top curtain is different compared to TF3D2.1 : on the one hand you've got a 2px width repeated 240 times, on the other hand you've got a single block of 512px
Hi dear xda friends
After upgrade my HD with various roms I found that im tired with new HTC ALBUM that have not good zooming function and there are some other lags and little pic options
So I decided to start searching and I didn’t find any reasonable and original looking alternative
So I start to test and change some program setting to use instead HTC ALBUM and I discovered a very interesting procedure with using resco photo manager instead of HTC ALBUM to be used in Manila mode
Just follow this instruction and start enjoying your blackstone with this new photo function
1 – install resco photo manager and resco explorer
2 – backup your HTCALBUM.exe in windows folder with resco explorer you should know that htcalbum.exe is hidden and you should disable hide hidden files function in resco explorer to find this file
3 – go to program files / resco photo manager and copy all files and folders to alternate folder and then go to this folder and rename photoman.exe to htcalbum.exe then copy all files and folders to windows folder with resco explorer and accept to overwrite htcalbum.exe
4 – go to start/programs/resco photo manager /menu/setting /general setting /start in folder and select camera roll
5 - go to start/programs/resco photo manager /menu/setting /general setting and disable use G-Sensor
6 - go to start/programs/resco photo manager /menu/setting / viewer settings /default rotation and chose auto-landscape right
7- exit resco photo manager and slide to photos and videos tab and start viewing and enjoying your black stone with this uniqe function
If you have problem with scrolling to next or previous photo go to resco photo manager setting and enable show next/prev buttons at viewer setting tab
im using resco photo manger 7
Good luck
nice share...will definitely try this one...Thanks!

you are wellcome
new htc album without circle to zoom option is annoying for blackstone and i was very sad and i was sensing that im losing a good zoom function with upgrading my rom and old htc album is slow unfortunately so its the best option and its very better than old and new htc album
Nice!
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
Been thinking the same for ages.
Tried it, done it, working.
Love it.
Pure Genius.
Thank you.

No you are scholar and genius because you realised this weakness of blackstone new Roms and searched for solution
thank you
And one more thing
if you faced problem with playing video files do this procedure and you will find your blackstone is more lovely than ever
1- open resco explorer and go to the video file location that you wanted to play
2- tap and hold on file then select open/open with
3- chose windows media and tick always use this program....
4- tap done
and its done now you can view video files from your new htc album
good luck
Great find, much better than bog standard, thank you
I tried this but when the phone loads Resco Photo Manager all I get is a white screen. If I load photo manager normally it works fine.
Any ideas?
I did it that way http://sites.google.com/site/bbonzzsoft/misc
This hack will load resco photo manager instead of HtcAlbum in Sense 2.5. With it, you'll have this behaviour: clicking on a photo Resco will open with that photo; clicking on "Album" left softkey will open Resco with the default folder you have configured inside resco itself.
You can either use the attached batch (bottom of this page) or follow the tutorial below to do it yourself

1) Download RescoHack.zip and extract it
2) Start "RescoHackHTCAlbumTab.cmd" and follow the steps
and you get a cab file you can install.
Update: I've attached the needed files for you (english + german)
The cab's are for (old) Resco Photo Manager 7 path structure
english: Storage Card\Program Files\Resco Photo Manager\PhotoMan.exe
german: Speicherkarte\Programme\Resco Photo Manager\PhotoMan.exe
For the new Resco Photo Manager Pro path structure I've attached the needed 6967589d_manila file (no cab sorry, copy it to ppc \windows
english: Storage Card\Program Files\Resco Photo Manager Pro\PhotoManPro.exe
german: Speicherkarte\Programme\Resco Photo Manager Pro\PhotoManPro.exe
