Simple answer is to root your phone and then install a decent rom in its place - I like Psychosis v3 which I currently use and it runs very well, clean and great UI

An idea for a useful bit of software...

with the rise in rooting and flashing to android devices to latest rom releases, I thought how handy would it be to have a program on my computer to arrange my apps/widgets without touching the device.
This would be great with a fresh device to get up and running, just how you like things.
Maybe even be able to save a layout or install apps from within the software?
a bit like itunes' application management where you can see all the pages and move, install or rearrange apps to your aesthetic pleasure.
Could such a program be created or is it too difficult?
not a good idea then?
I am no developer but i would definately like this kind of software for my pc. I have a ipod touch and i usually install the apps from the apps store from itunes 'cause it's a very comfortable way of surfing the market.
That said there is something thet might be what you're looking for; i havn't been able to use it much as i only istalled it yesterday but seems to work well:
it's called "app brain", and it's not a program you install on your pc but a webpage, you have to create an account and from the webpage you can put apps into your account (don't tknow if there are all the ones from the market, havn't investigated yet). Then (with the app istalled on your phone obviously) you just go into the app, sync your account and the apps in your account can be installed, deleted etc, etc and you don't even need to plug the phone into the pc (unlike my ipod touch).
So once you've set up your account it'll do the same as itunes app installer but without having to install anything on your pc and without having to plug your phone in (or even have your pc on by that matter!!!!)
Ps; not entirely sure bout this but i believe you can also use app brain to transfer photos and stuff to your desire!!
Thanks for the reply dude!
Sorry but I already use appbrain and although its very useful for keeping all your apps in one place, its not really the sort of thing I need.
It's more to do with controlling your device from your pc/mac. Ie. Moving widgets around, arranging apps, maybe even sending texts or changing backgrounds.
It's just an idea but I think it would be really useful, especially after wiping and flashing Roms!

know what you mean. coming from winmo i had all my apps, reg keys, mods, etc installed via a product called sashimi (think that's how you spell it!). After a flash id run the app on my phone and within about 10 minutes everything was done, the only thing left was to sync my data.

same here,
I'm coming from winmo and I'm very happy with sashimi: flashing a custom rom and configuring the device without touching it takes 10 minutes. afterwards everything is perfect configured.
I'll get my new android device within the next couple of days and so I need such a great piece of software like Sashimi.
is there something like sashime out there in the android/linux world?
Use adw launcher, it has option to backup your current desktop theme and settings.
Alternatively use either adw launcher or launcher pro together with titanium to backup the data held by these launchers. A titanium restore will give you back your setup.
Easy eh

Noobie here... Seeking some advice post root

Hi everybody,
I just moved from an iphone 3g (which i had jailbroken) to an incredible thanks to at&t contract finally finishing. Hv rooted the inc on my mac using the unrevoked method. Everything works fine (still have stock eclair 2.1 and sense running). Hv installed a bunch of apps from the market but hv not sideloaded anything yet or uninstalled anything (htc sense etc etc) yet. I would really appreciate some guidance from the community on the following since i am very new to the platform as a whole.
1. I dont want to lose the ability to update to the official froyo release (whenever it happens) so will I have to unroot (if thats even possible) to get the froyo update? If yes, whats the correct way so that I can bookmark that.
2. I want to be able to use the tethering without paying 20$ extra per month to VZ (in fact would probably use USB tethering to my macbook more often than wifi tethering/hotspot, but obviously I would like both! ). How should i do that? Obviously the stock app will just alert verizon, right? Is there another app that will work now that i hv rooted? Any special instructions to follow?
3. Would like to optimize the capability of the device by removing crapware and useless stuff which comes with the phone. Hv not yet even figured out what each app does yet. I will use my inc primarily for entertainment - games, social networking, browsing, streaming music, videos, google voice, true VoIP (not official VZ skype), GPS navigation, tethering (when no wifi) but will be OTA syncing my office exchange email account, contacts, calendar as well to make this a backup phone to my official bberry. Any suggestions on which apps to remove? Also how should I remove them without bricking the phone. Is there a cleaner method?
4. I actually like Sense even though it seems it uses up some memory - any way i can remove the useless parts of Sense (since I wont be using USB sync and I am sure some other stuff in sense is just bloatware) without losing the other features that look great - to be honest the phone looks too plain without sense (nexus 1 looked really naked). I would like to retain the look and feel of the sense ui.
5. How do I get swype on this? I played with it when i was shopping for android phones on the captivate (which unfortunately was on at&t) and I am amazed at how great that was! I badly badly badly badly need that!!
6. Any standard add-ons, apps which you would recommend for my intended usage?
7. Now that I am rooted which post-root apps should i install to make the inc more useful? Any obvious ones which you would recommend?
8. The people sense widget is just too much, anything a bit saner which is like a launchpad but without the screen wastage?
9. In jailbroken iphones, you could install lockinfo which was a spectacular agglomeration of all things (missed calls, voice mails waiting, email msg list, twitter feed, facebook feed, weather, calendar, tasks, sms msgs) in 1 simple scrollable screen. Anything similar in Sense/HTC widgets/App store? Just one glance would tell me everything.
Sorry, since I am new I decided to ask all questions in 1 shot. Obviously dont expect to have all questions answered by 1 person but if the devs/users can point me in the right direction, with links and some comments, I will greatly appreciate it.
Thanks and hoping to be a contributor to the android community sometime soon as I was in the iphone community until i just could not take at&t anymore.
1.yes you need to unroot to recieve otas
2.there is an app incthe market called wifi tether that is free.
3.look in the theme/app sectiom. there is a skinned version there.
4. adb in recovery os the only way to remove crapware

No, if you are running the stock rom ou will recieve OTAs. The OTA doesn't magically detect "this phone is rooted."

No. it's also not suggested and is reported to have negative side effects.
One important thing, Install Rom Manager from the market.
With this app you can do a backup of the Rom (stock sense and rooted) you're running now and install others to try, if you don't like them just restore the one you had before and done, you can as many back up as you want.
Also check in the theme section and you'll find lots of themes to make your phone look and work beautiful, this also allows you to get to recovery without having to turnoff your phone and install anything you want from the sd card.
Also, if you don't like some of the crap ware that Sense has, there's a post for removing the apps you don't want on Sense and it tell you which ones are safe to remove.

Hope this helps a little.
Some apps for us the rooted...shootme or drocap to take pictures of your screens, titanium backup, wifi tether, etc.
Appreciate the help everybody! Only thing I am still seeking an answer for is swype on my inc if anybody can guide me.
Thanks

Thanks! Just realized one more thing. I cant seem to be able to use skype over wifi only. Is this verizon's way of using up my minutes one way or another?

What is starting APPs, how can I stop them ?

I am sick of all the apps that I never use like peep, twit, facebook, footprints, friendstream, stocks, starting themselves like 2 seconds after I kill them. What is starting them and how can I get them to stop it ??? I do not mind them being in there, and actually have heard of problems deleting some, so if I can just keep them from starting ??? Grazi ;-)
I've deleted every single one of those and then some without issues. You have to root and then remove them. Trust me, the reward is well worth the steps involved. Once you're rooted you can download Startup Manager from the market to select which apps will startup automatically upon reboot. That won't help you control those other apps you mentioned running though. You need to remove them or disable them in adb.
Sent from my rooted Incredible using XDA App
Just set all of those apps to never sync with whatever account they are tied to. Really a running application that isn't doing anything uses no resources.
But yes, if you root you can remove them.

Need ZTE AXON 7 Debloat list

Can anyone provide a good debloat list for the U model ver 27?
Hey I know this is an old post, but if you're still in need I just made a post that might help you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/debloat-list-a2017u-t3536687

I'm working on trying to make a custom ROM and I noticed that there is no complete debloat list for the Axon 7 that I could find. Honestly the bloat on this device really isn't that bad, most of the preloaded apps I actually use. Although I am learning about making custom ROMs and debloating is part of that learning, and I figure someone may find this useful. Now this is by now means a complete or thoroughly tested list. It will be it just isn't yet, so in the meantime feel free to make any comments that may help.
Without further adue, the list:
Browser
Themes
Touchpal (w/ Chat Pack)
Video Player
Weshare
Google Apps
Chrome
Cloud Print
Docs
Gmail
Hangouts
Maps
Play Music
Talkback
YouTube
ZTE Apps
Compass
Email
Gallery
Recorder
Toolbox
Weather
Of course the google framework should be removable and I did remove it but that seems like something that will need testing. Furthermore I know it is possible to remove Dolby Atmos, but I don't know how yet.
Thanks to SuperR for a great Kitchen to work in, and thanks to lokissmile who's tennitive list on his HelsAx7.SubMix helped me start this list ( I also copied that first thank you from him too).

Hola
What on phone tool do you folks use to forcibly remove these system apps? I am a keen user of Titanium Backup, but I find that TiBu doesn't always completely remove these unwanted apps. I understand that if someone creates a TWRP flashable zip with the mentioned unwanted apps, then this is another working way, but seems rather long winded is it not?

If you go this route, consider "Freezing" the apps for a few days before actually uninstalling them to insure there is not a dependency that is not obvious. Also keep a previous level nandroid backup.
Even that is not always foolproof tho. After intially replacing the Stock ZTE Browser with the smaller Android Browser I found it could not create bookmarks. Reinstalled the ZTE WeimiBrowser OK. All works with Android Browser Frozen just fine, but when I uninstalling it I get a strange SIM issue where the phone bounces between SIM 1 & 2 (only #1 is installed). So I leave it Frozen. Irritating, but plenty of storage.

How to get rid of LeEco Spyware?

1.
I would like to get rid of as many LeEco apps as possible because I am convinced that they phone home and steal my personal data. Have you successfully installed any LeEco apps without triggering any issues and, if yes, please let me know the names of the system apps that can be safely uninstalled with an unintaller having root access.
2.
Does anyone know where I can download AOSP dialer/sms/contacts? Thanks.
Just replace the launcher, install Google Camera and disable the LeCloud services

Why not? Hardware is good and phone is cheap. Once CM or a clean ROM is installed, the LeEco software doesn't matter. Do you understand or shall I explain in more detail. It's not really that complicated.

Lol, my ego has nothing to do with anything here. Its the way you are thinking, or the complete lack of logic. And ofcourse you resort to insults, when have nothing else clever to say.
If you are still sure leeco is stealing your data(which is complete nonsense and you have exactly zero facts to back you up) and you dont know how or what to delete(despite being so clever and knowning so much about custom roms) you could just block all leeco IP's in hosts file. Im sure being the pro you are, you know how to get these ip adresses and what hosts file is

Thanks Joms. I already did and, moreover, I blocked LeeCo apps with a firewall. However, I would like to completely uninstall them and I am sure that other users want this, too.
In fact, I already did uninstall a few of them and - so far - I did not get any error messages. It might be nice to have a list of LeEco apps that can be safely uninstalled because there are so many of them.

I used this app to uninstall most of the LeEco system apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=de It comes with a restore function.
I need to check in more detail/need a few more days in order to confirm that there are really no issues. (Uninstalling the dialer/contacts app was not a good idea though.)

Hi Tiz
Do you see any clashes in rom after uninstalling system apps?
Hi!
If you want you can additionally add the LeEco servers to your hosts file to prevent that any app can contact them. I collected a list of all hostnames I found in the system applications and/or logcat in this posting here.
Additionally here a list of (system) apps I have disabled (via "pm disable") command:
Code:
[email protected] ~> adb shell pm list packages -d
package:com.letv.android.FuseWire
package:com.letv.android.quicksearchbox
package:com.letv.android.agent
package:com.letv.android.zxing
package:com.letv.android.account
package:com.letv.android.wallpaper
package:com.letv.android.wallpaperonline
package:com.letv.leui.sdk.data
package:com.letv.android.letvlive
package:com.lesports.glivesports
package:com.letv.android.note
package:com.le.android.webview
package:com.letv.android.usermanual
package:com.letv.letvshop
package:com.android.browser
package:com.le.share.zl1
package:com.letv.android.personalized
package:com.baidu.input_letv
package:com.letv.app.appstore
package:com.stv.stvpush
package:com.android.mms
package:com.letv.android.backup
package:com.letv.android.client
package:com.letv.android.setupwizard
package:com.android.calendar
package:com.letv.android.backupclient
package:com.letv.walletbiz
package:com.android.VRAdmin
package:com.letv.gallery3d.syncservice
package:com.lvr.wizzard
package:com.android.gallery3d
package:com.letv.agnes
package:com.letv.games
package:com.letv.wihd
package:com.letv.lesophoneclient
package:com.letv.android.fannation
package:com.letv.android.bugreporter
package:com.letv.android.accountinfo
package:com.letv.wallet
package:com.letv.android.filemanager
package:com.letv.android.cloudservice
package:com.android.music
package:sina.mobile.tianqitongletv
package:com.letv.android.videoplayer
package:com.sohu.inputmethod.sogou.leshi
The only limitation I noticed so far, is that the media control buttons (Previous/Play/Next) in the control center stop working, when you disable/remove the LeTv Music player (package name "com.android.music") because the buttons do not broadcast Android standard media Intents but instead LeEco-specifiic ones (which are only received by LeEco Music player which then performs the desired actions - even controlling 3rd party players).
I changed the behaviour of the media buttons with this Xposed module here: Xposed-module-EUI-MusicControls.

Not yet. (Except for the dialer/contacts app.) It's probably best to freeze apps first and take androchecks list as a guideline.
i dont understand why you suspect that the phone ( lepro3) steals your data? i have been using the phone for banking, share trading, etc, and i never found any issues. i also install a 360 antivirus on day 1 , and let it to run in the background to secure the phone. when i first bought the phone, it had customer rom 019s, when i first run 360 antivirus, there was one virus found. had it removed, since them, no more trouble. later i re-flashed the factory rom ( chinese version 018s), plus google play, etc. i have no issues at all. for those phone apps which you dont need them to access internet ( such as LeEco's apps) , you can also disable them from the phone's manager ( no access in both data and wifi). leEco is a company on stock list ( Hong Kong). i wont think it will risk its reputation adding some spywares in the phone. as it can be found easily. unless you have 3rd party app with virus....

Is this a debloater (does this remove all of the unnecessary apks that LeEco installs, and would probably release some ram)? Thanks for showing us this, I can only browse those forums with google translate, and that leaves a lot to be desired.
