Voicemail question - XPERIA X10 General

Anyone in canada on rogers know the default voicemail number? I thought if you dialed your own number it would connect you to voicemail but when I do that it dials and the call ends itself. I checked call settings and its my number set as the default number.

Google Voice Question

I read on a blog that if you add your google voice number to a calling circle plan (like my faces or the thing they have for Verizon), that all your outgoing calls will be free if you set GV to make the calls from your phone during the initial GV setup.
My question is that when i dial out, i notice a popup that google voice says its calling they GV but the number that pops up isn't my GV number. Am i doing something wrong?

As far as I'm aware, you can't do it through the official app because it changes the outgoing numbers.
I do it using the calling card method(call my google voice number, then choose option 2, then dial the outgoing number), and I've got my sister's phone set to do it with an app I found in the market that automates it. I don't recall the app, but I can find out if you want.

Well you can add the connection number to the list and it will be free when you call out but that number changes randomly, i had mines setup in the friends and family and about three months of usage they changed the number so i went ahead and changed it again on the friends and family. They say that the number is changed but not daily more like every couple of months like it has happened to me, in conclusion you will be using 2 slots of the friends and family one for your GV number so its free when they call you to your GV number and one for the connection number so its free when you call out thru GV.

That sucks. Friends and family takes 24 hours for a new number in the list to take effect. And that means i have to keep an eye on the dial out number all the time to see if its changed or not.

Voicemail number

I have been unable to check my voicemail because my phone keeps telling me "the subscriber you have dialed is not in service." The number my phone has in it is 801-915-9999.
Did you try calling TMO? I am using google voice and GV VM service, it works great.
The number should be +18056377243

when i flashed the new rom on my phone it wiped out my voicemail number and "my" number that is programmed into the phone. noe i can't use TiKL or cal my voicemail! is there a fix for this? i couldn't find my voicemail # with an internet search.
thanks for any help.
Yeah there should be an option under Settings > Call > Voicemail Options.
Somewhere in phone options you can put in your own number, (which is your voicemail number).

Google Voice with the N4 on Tmobile

Is anyone currently routing all of their calls/texts/voicemails through Google voice (GV) on Tmobile?
I currently have Sprint and have integrated my number into GV (my GV number and my original Sprint number are one and the same) and I'll be switching from Sprint to Tmobile once I can get my hands on an N4. My problem is I'm not sure whether to port my number out of GV/Sprint and into Tmobile or if I should just get a brand new Tmobile number, add that to GV, and have GV just route calls/texts placed to my current number to the new Tmobile number. The only issue I'm aware of with GV is the lack of support for MMS.
Also, I sporadically have some issues on Sprint with missing calls where they show up in my GV call log but never make it through to my phone. I really like how GV can be accessed from any browser and how it logs history of my texts and calls so it would be nice to have these features still but maybe not worth the few quirks, bugs, and lack of MMS.
Can anyone comment on using GV with their Tmobile number? Worth it? Not worth it?
Google voice works fine on T-Mobile.

Actually, it depends. If you are using a T-mobile prepaid 4G plan, you can't use call forwarding. This means you can't use GV for your voicemail for your T-mobile number. In that case, if you use the full version of GV (not the limited voicemail service), then you can have voicemail and texting for your GV number. But if someone calls your T-mobile number, your GV voicemail will not be used. So it really depends on how you are trying to use it (and if you are using prepaid or not).
I use it all the time, the above is true. If you get a monthly plan its no issue. Download the app and you can select it to always call from your GV# or prompt you or never. You should have no issues with it on T-mo, the only difference is you will probably have two numbers now, but keep using the GV# like normal after you set up.
So let me get this straight...
Setup:
Google Voice #: 111-111-1111
New T-Mobile #: 222-222-2222
Let's assume I have added my new T-Mobile number to my Google Voice account, and have only shared my Google Voice number with people.
I can setup my phone to dial out using my Google Voice account. I will also need to replace the default text messaging app with Google Voice.
Any outgoing calls/texts from my phone will show up on other people's phones as 111-111-1111
All calls to 111-111-1111 will automatically be routed to 222-222-2222.
Voicemail scenario 1: Post-Paid plan
If someone calls 111-111-1111 and I don't answer my phone, do they get sent to 222-222-2222's voicemail system by default?
If I deactivate voicemail on 222-222-2222, will calls to 111-111-1111 eventually reach the Google Voice voicemail, or does it just ring forever?
Is there an option to automatically forward voicemails to Google Voice (a la Sprint)?
Voicemail scenario 2: Pre-Paid plan
If someone calls 111-111-1111 and I don't answer my phone, do they get sent to 222-222-2222's voicemail system?
What happens if you disable voicemail on 222-222-2222? Rings forever?
I take it from your previous post that this is where you run into issues with the Google Voice Voicemail, correct?
Thanks!

I can only speak for my G2x using a post-paid plan, but I have three fields I can set on my phone under Options -> Call settings -> Call forwarding: Busy, Unanswered, and Unreachable (along with "Always Forward"). Each of those has enable/disable and a separate number. In my case, I'm testing out GrooVe IP, since I have poor signal strength at home, so I have Busy and Unanswered set to my Google Voice voicemail number and Unreachable set to my main Google Voice number (so if I'm at home on wifi with no signal, GrooVe IP will ring me). That all works so my voicemail is via Google Voice and not T-Mobile.
Since you have Sprint/GV integrated, if you want to cancel Sprint service you will have some extra steps. Cancel Sprint integration, port your Sprint# to GV, then forward the GV calls to the new TMo#.
A lot of your questions should be answered here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646755
If you're prepaid like me you can just call them and have them disable your voicemail. Then as long as people only have your GV number you will get all voicemails to GV.
Why not just get a Google voice number and tell everyone you know to use it instead of your carrier number.

Any outgoing calls/texts from my phone will show up on other people's phones as 111-111-1111 Yes; You can setup the phone via GV App to dial out using your GV number. Texts Sent from GV App will use GV number, texts sent from any Android SMS program will use TMo number
All calls to 111-111-1111 will automatically be routed to 222-222-2222. Yes, if you set it up that way in your GV account settings online
Voicemail scenario 1: Post-Paid plan
If someone calls 111-111-1111 and I don't answer my phone, do they get sent to 222-222-2222's voicemail system by default? No, calls to GV will reach GV voicemail
If I deactivate voicemail on 222-222-2222, will calls to 111-111-1111 eventually reach the Google Voice voicemail, or does it just ring forever? Calls to Tmo number will reroute to GV voicemail if you set it up that way through the GV App/Phone App
Is there an option to automatically forward voicemails to Google Voice (a la Sprint)? As far as I know, no. You must change the voicemail number on your phone to redirect to GV voicemail
Voicemail scenario 2: Pre-Paid plan
If someone calls 111-111-1111 and I don't answer my phone, do they get sent to 222-222-2222's voicemail system? No, same as above
What happens if you disable voicemail on 222-222-2222? Rings forever? Yes because you cannot use call forwarding on pre-paid plans, so you cannot redirect to GV
I take it from your previous post that this is where you run into issues with the Google Voice Voicemail, correct?

ATT Note 3 Voicemail number

HI I needed help because I have an att galaxy note 3 and when I set the voicemail number under voicemail settings it does not dial that number instead it says your call cannot be completed as dialed using NC2 ATT ROM need help with this problem great thanks.
Just dial your own number to access voicemail, or download the "AT&T Visual Voicemail" app from Play Store and use that. If neither of those work, then you may need to call AT&T to have a rep reset the voicemail account settings.
