[Q] manually editing swype dictionary - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey everyone,
Quick question, has anyone discovered a way to manually edit the dictionary in swype.
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about words that are saved from user input, but rather the stock words that are included in the swype dictionary.

I believe you just simply type the words in and then punch in the swype key to uninstall it. Same thing as adding a word.

Thanks for the response. The thing is that won't work for words that are originally in the swype dictionary

A better keyboard app?

Hi,
I got a HTC Wildfire and am having a very hard time typing on the on screen keyboard, i am finding the buttons a bit to small and it causes me to type words incorrectly, i do use the spell checker and word suggestion but still could do with a decent keyboard app, perhaps one that has bigger buttons.
Can anyone recommend a good app that may meet my needs?
Thanks
MR
you should try swype. ive been using it since i bought HTC, my wildfire =)
have smart keyboard now, with openfire, I like that one! Think it costs 1-2$ though
Hi,

Swype, better keyboard, slide it, thumb keyboard (search for it on xda), swift key, 8 pen (on xda)
Swype for wildfire
i can't remember where i got this from, i think here on xda. but you are looking for
SWYPE_1.54.28.7337_QVGA_LSmo_by_Maruban.apk. this works a treat on my wildfire
my wildfire had swype on it as standard and i was gutted when i flashed wildpuzzle and found i had lost it, so was chuffed to find a version that worked
there's another keyboard app called "slideIT" u can get the demo from market =). Supports many languages input too. Try it out =D

Better keyboard?

Installed cm6.2 and the keyboard is a bit too basic. Any suggestions on a better keyboard app? Swype if at all possible

I use SwiftKey, which is wonderful. It does word prediction based on sentences, and in some cases it can finish your sentences for you, even before you start typing them. Even if you don't use that much, it has a great landscape keyboard layout that I prefer to Swype (space bar in the middle, not the right like Swype uses), and it's totally worth the purchase price in the market to me.
I'm not sure I'm ready for the swype stuff so I'm sticking with smart keyboard pro. love it
THIS is my reply in a thread that was created 6 hours before yours. Please search next time, answering the same question 3-4 times in the same days is getting old.
Well sorry. Some of us are on the go and xda app does not give search option to me.
Thanks to someone elses helpful reply I got on swype beta so i'm set.
Thank you

Swype on cm7

Hey guys sorry I couldn't decide which forum to put this in.
Anyhow Im running nightly builds and I signed up for swype on the website, downloaded-installed it. When I one touch type the letters appear, but the actual swype feature does not work, no words come up in the text box. After a while it gave me a message saying this keyboard is not made for this device.
Does anybody have the apk for glacier? Or is there another solution. I'm horrible with pushing through adb and I'm not home anyhow to try. Thanks in advance for the help!

This'd be the right forum, I think.
Swype beta installed just fine for me using the latest stable CM7, but mysteriously vanished since last night. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my SD card or with CM really.

I've installed Swype many of times on my many different ROMs. This guide is correct, but for some reason I can't get it to work on the latest CM7 either. I'm probably going to flash back to down to an older version. Seemed to operate a little bit better anyways.
Having the same problem. It would work after a fresh install of Swype, then after a while, it loses the swype ability. I'd have to reinstall it afterwards. It wouldn't be too bad, only I lose the words that I added in the dictionary. On CM 7.0.2. Any help would be nice.

new swype sucks

is it possible to use the old swype on the s2?
I hate the layout, they added in that dam language button that takes up spacebar room, so I always misclick.. and if I ever hit it it changes my keyboard to spanish, plus the comma is where the spacebar used to be.. worse of all you can't double click to highlight a word, my swype speed is crippled.. so is it possible to get the old swype on here?

You should be able to. At least you need to be rooted and signed up for the swype beta program. Using titanium backup you can uninstall the swype on the phone. Then you can proceed to install the swype beta installer on your phone to get the latest swype beta on there.
I too am not really happy with the keyboard options on the SGS II out of the box. I pulled the LatinIME.apk (aka stock gingerbread keyboard) from cyanogen mod to get my stock android keyboard back since the samsung one made the message screen jump around like a kid on a sugar high .
try Swift Key for me the best keyboard for fast writing
okay ill try the swype beta, its different than the swype we have now?

I found the latest swype beta caused fc's. Eventually found an older (hacked) version that works well.

SwiftKey is the way to go atm, it is slick, smart and pretty much da bomb with predictions.
If you want cool looking bot for fast typing and serious writing keyboard go with Slide It

If you a laid back typer like me touchpal is an excellent option. I'm not a fan o QWERTY in portrait mode think that's the reason I stay from swift

I use TouchPal. Disable TouchPal curve and then you have swipe down symbols which is a stroke of genius.

I've been using Swype for the last two years, works like a charm!
I'm trying out the SwiftKey Flow Beta right now, seems even more intuitive, although there's a few tidbits I prefer in Swype.
I guess it all comes down to whether you prefer actual typing or swyping though.
I like Kii Keyboard. Much more settings. Support Swipe method input.
use voice engine
the best thiing is using skyvee app:laugh:
Swype
Swype is my favorite. I've tried several gesture keyboards and I find that swype cares the least about how I swype. I also love the "ctrl+c" and "ctrl+v" ability.
At this moment i think that Swiftkey Keyboard is the best choice.
For me the best of all is the swype.
If you're bilingual like me, check out Swype, fast switching with one touch, but don't install versions 1.4, they tend to be sluggish, 3.26.92.39062 is the way to go
As for swift key, doesn't really work well with two languages.

I am using swift with 3langs, German, Turkish and English and it is working well, I am using the same layout for all and have not to switch between the languages.
