Hi. The X1 come with the QUALCOMM 7200 A CPU normally @528 Mhz. But i read somewhere that the X1 is underclocked @400 mhz for power save. Its ok if it return @528 mhz when we watch movie or listen music... But can we know if he really do that?
Tks.

overclockin this processor is the the PRIMARY thing i wanna do to this phone....ANY way of doin that i'll try...
he is speaking about Underclocking not overclocking ... and why you wanna Overclock ... 528 is enough...!!!
No , i want to verify if the CPU is at 528 mhz or not.
I've see on another thread (the X1 performance thread) that the CPU is auto underclocked for save power...

well in that case.....i wouldnt mind havin it runnin at full
i heared about it somewere, i don't know if it's true or not, but even though, the device is generating much heat already when using wifi/gps while charging, maybe this will make it worse
my cpu monitor plugin on my today screen has never budged from 400mhz.
The plugin also has a temp reading and my xperia runs around 108F with the wifi running were it idles around 84F, 91F watching a properly converted movie (500kbps and 30fps for me) or music, and 95F when watching a movie that makes the Xperia work.

That sounds like a very handy plugin. Could you provide a link or attach it please?
I find that the back plate gets quite warm when it's on charge in the car holder and running TomTom. If I could measure how warm it's getting then I might feel okay about it.
sounds interesting aswell, the plugin.
"

oO that's crap. Its a 528 mhz cpu and we can't have a real 528 mhz? 400 is less than the iphone...
Same here. My today plug-in says 400mhz and usually the temp is between 30 and 39 degrees (celsius).
The name of the app is "wk task". It's extremely handy with tons of options. It has system tray launching options. Shows cp speed and temp, ram etc.
P.S. Did i mention you can launch programs from the system tray??? Hehe
we have a "hot" phone lol
hot in price design and temp!
Yep. But why the X1 don't run at the normal 528 mhz frequency?
It run @400 . I think we can boost him @528mhz. @400 it's slower than the iphone . In idle use ok , for save the battery , but when we watch a movie , or surf with opera 528 mhz is better...
then go this web page, www.xda-hackers.com lol
I tried using Teksoft Speedbooster to make certain apps "high priority". First one was morphgear, thinking it might bring up the fps. I cant notice any diff :-/
So I would also like to overclock the cpu (if its possible)...itje's touch-it v4 beta 6 uses even less ram than before...fantastic rom...but yet morphgear is still not running perfectly.
I will try with core player and maybe opera
Try this
Please try to connect your X1 to power supply and check CPU speed. For my previous device connected power supply caused CPU works at maximum speed.

We don't need to overclock the CPU . It will be good if the CPU run at his normal speed also @528mhz and not 400 (under the frequency of the iphone)!!!.
Also , a overclock on this type of CPU may cause overheating issues. Only 528 mhz will be a great advance on performance.
I think that the X1's CPU is underclocked @400mhz... It's bad
Yeah, thats what I meant foxvengeor, but didnt make it very clear
I would also like to bring my x1 to the proper cpu speed, rather than what it is currently. Like somebody else said, I would take a hit on the battery standby time over performance (unless it ruins either my battery of my phone).
Wow seriously? I had never heard it was underclocked.. It is advertised as 528mhz isnt it?! I mean the battery life is great as is, but I would like to see how it does at 528.. The device info control panel does say 528 though.

I dunno if I'm a bit slow or something but I just installed wk task and after aunching the taskbar from it, and looking through the settings for about half an hour, I couldn't for the life of my find anyhting to do with temperatures and/or ram/cpu or anything related.
It seems to do nothing more than work as a task manager/task bar/launcher.
Questions:
1) How do you know if the Omnia Pro isn't also underclocked?
2) How come no one ever said that the Xperia X1 was underclocked?
3) How come there are no tweaks/ways to overclock/clock the Xperia X1?
[p.s. i have a larger battery I can withstand the strain of power usage]
4) Are there anyways to clock my CPU? Should I change my clockspeed on the X1 since I got a superb extended 3600 battery?
no offence mate, but aren't You spamming this boards a bit recently? it was mentioned dozen times before, that for now there is no method to overclock qualcomm cpus.
I once did a pretty thorough search of the registry and couldn't find anything relating to clock speed. Otherwise, Bronx is right. There are no programs you can buy etc to overclock. Some websites mistakenly list Xperia as compatible with overclocking software, but it's a mistake.

Yeah but I needed a definite answer to this question. I copied and paste it from my original thread. Obviously no one answered my question and it pissed me off. I want my Xperia to be fast as possible as I plan on keeping my Xperia until X3 or a better phone which based on my expectations and requirements will be a very long time.
have you tried the nueDynamicClock?
it can lower the clock speed to save battery life, my X1 can last up to 3days now.. (w/minimal wi-fi use)
it also have a MaxPerformanceprofile.. i haven't tested it yet..

Since I have 3600 mAh battery, I don't mind using the full potentials of my CPU.

IF you had an original thread you should just bump it btw you already told us you had a 3600 in the first post
For the Google Phones that have the same CPU like the X1 but run only with 400 MHz this is true.
So CPU Scaling/Increasing works.
Keywords for setting the cpu speed are "cpu scaling"
In Linux you need this comand here to get information about the cpu speed.
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/*
A typical output is this here
800000
1600000
800000
1600000 800000
ondemand conservative performance
800000
powernow-k8
ondemand
1600000
800000

As you can see on my Linux Laptop system i am able to run the Notebook with 800 MHz and 1600 Mhz. My Actual speed is 800 MHz and the extra boost of 1600 Mhz will be only enabled ondemand triggered by conservative usage.
We need the right cpu scaling module (see powernow-k8) in linux for setting the cpu clock in X1 the way that we like it. Thats all every other exist allready

mind you they don't just underclock cpus to save batt time also
if they don't have good enough cooling on the chip in which case
you can kill it
in which case the warrenty would be void

Marketing on the basis of creating false hope for clocking the CPU later?
Most likely an issue of heat and protecting the CPU over time. From what I understand, most phone CPUs of 500Mhz and over are underclocked.
The Palm Pre and iPhone cpu is underclocked to 600Mhz[1], the iPhone's 620Mhz was underclocked to somewhere over 400Mhz, even other HTC phones using the same Qualcomm 528Mhz as in the X1 are underclocked to 400Mhz.

Right, so does anyone have any idea why people are underclocking? Why not just have a ****ing a 400 MHz CPU on the X1 and be done with it? Why waste 100-200 MHz that won't even be used? Have I gone crazy are all these companies just plain retarded?
Calm down.
If a CPU is built to withstand a maximum of 528Mhz, then underclocking it will extend the CPU life and reduce heating. If you took a 400Mhz CPU and ran it at max all the time it would have a decreased life compared to a 528Mhz underclocked to 400Mhz.

hope dies last dont it
well... that doesn't mean anything. as usual, before it gets released most of us will be on new device.
my advice: enjoy xperia as it is. soon You'll have to jump on to something more powerful, because one day all phones will be smartphones. it is a one way ticket and tg 01 is a sign of things to come. I am hoping, that microsoft marketplace will encourage coders to make some wonder apps for future winmo devices.
if the higher Hz cpus were made to run with a bigger headsink or even active cooling it would be somewhat of a problem for the phone makers so underclocking it would make sense
do they're official marketing push the high hz or did it just appear as specs on an unofficial site?
one reason one may put in a cpu which is able to run faster then it does is that the cheapest cpu is the one most mass produced not the one which give the lowest spcs
supply and demand set prices not speed and performance

As someone already said, because an underclocked CPU have an extended life and less heat compared with a CPU running always at full speed.
Take as an example laptop processors. You have 4 core but they do not always run at full speed. Why? because you have less heat, more battery life (if you have a 3600 battery, that doesn't mean everyone else have one...X1 is shipped with a 1500 battery pack), longer life.
Another answer is: because 400mhz cpu are not produced anymore or, if still in production, they cost a lot of money, compared with the mass production of new cpu. It is just economy of scale.
The real point is: can't they make a dinamic switching CPU, so that it will run 400mhz most of the time and 528mhz just when it is overloaded?
Hi guys, like I said in the title, is it because the phone is not doing heavy tasks? And will the cpu ever run at 1Ghz at all?
just being curious...
Interesting... mine's showing 400mhz (idle). afaik those chips should run @ 600mhz when idle, not 400mhz.
I presume that you can ignore that, as long as your stock firmware (unrooted/unlagfixed) gives you a result of 900(~).
ye it'll run at 1GHz if you're not using any overclocking kernal along with SetCPU. it's on a "on-demand" governer that basically uses more CPU juice as more CPU heavy tasks are carried out.
Hello people,
The CPU frequency on my DHD becomes stable at around 300MHz. Y is that ? The DHD has a 1GHz processor yet it doesn't consume at least most of it for better performance. Is root the only solution to my problem ?
Is there an average CPU frequency on DHDs ?

How do you come to that conclusion/statement?
When u mean stable?
What do you mean with stable? does it freeze or reboot on anyother freq?
Yes the Desire HD has a 1Ghz cpu, but that doesnt mean it runts on 1Ghz, it means its the max it runs.. its going up and down from 248 to 1024mhz all the time, depending on stress.. if it would be at 1024mhz 24/7 the battery would end faster than you´d like it...
And yes, its possible to control this settings through rooting and setCPU
The cpu is 1ghz but it throttles back to save power all cpus Do this. If you open a monitoring application chances are it sees the throttled speed and reports that first as the upclock is delayed
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
As tvoben said, the processor frequency is variable depending upon the load. The CPU will only be at 1 GHz only when it needs to, e.g. games, videos etc. Most of the idle time, the CPU should be at a low frequency.
Yes its when it gets stuck at 1 ghz at 100% that u need to start to worry. HTC kindly allowed many users to exprerience the impact this has on battery life with the recent ota update.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
DHD usually runs at 681.87 MHz. When needed the clock speeds jumps to 1GHz.
Has anyone underclocked their Galaxy S? I personally think that overclock is a bit of a placebo effect so I just want to know if anyone has underclocked their phone and if they can kindly share the performance of the phone as well as some benchmarks.
I've seen SGS2 underclocked right down to 500mhz and still running smooth but is that due to the efficiently of the Cortex A9 or because it's dual core?
Feel free to share your experiences and benchmarks.

I think we may achive smooth performance with some minor glitch at 800MHz and some minor improvement in battery.
But i dont see a point in underclocking,1GHz is just perfect for galaxy s.Moreover whats the point of buying so costly device and then underclock it???

Lol i underclocked mine to 100 mhz but it dont run good at all. Ur phone is not running a gig all the time if it did ud loose use up ur battery in like 4 hours, it goes from 100 to 1000 mhz whenever it needs it, you can potentially set it to 400 and it will function but the battery saving wouldnt be that much, i think the screen takes at least half of your battery, since my phone on standby can do like two to three days and i can also kill it in 4 hours playing a game or using gps or surfing the web if anything underclock ( they call it undervolt) to 800 mhz and you will barely notice, your score on the benchmark is affected because most phones gpu is directly controlled by the cpu so undervolting will affect your fps which will give you laggy games or crappy benchmark scores

it was stable.. but then i undervolt -100mV from 100-200Mhz and my SGS crahsed..
I use semaphore 1.3.3... lol any idea what settings i should use ? xD
