Does anyone else have an issue with their unlock/power button? After the phone sits for a while and i come back to it and i hit the screen unlock button it will flash the lock screen at me and when i try to swipe the screen to unlock it just goes black again? i have to fiddle with the phone and its buttons to finally get it to unlock. The phone is rooted but it was doing the same thing before, and i have launcher pro, juice defender and task manager.
Its reeeeallly annoying and i need a solution for it.
thanks

Hi Folks,
I've found a little bug in the lock screen ... i'm on the new rom, can't verify for the old one.
To reproduce:
Sleep phone, wake up phone and finally on the lock screen, press menu.
TADAA you're dropped straight into the home screen.

p13 thats always been like that?? well I could do that on htc before and after the new rom
Same here, no bug, just a way to get rid of the lock screen without whiping the screen
Oh Okay
I didn't know that was normal behavior.
Nice to know, thanks guys!

indeed, that is the standard way to unlock android devices. This is exactly the same on the G1 and Magic as well.
it also works when you are on a phone call. When the screen turns off and you need access to the buttons, you press menu and up it comes.
Cool. This is my first android device, since there is no mention of this behavior on the lock screen, i thought it was a bug.
It's nice to know, thanks for the pointer !
very strange, i have just noticed that my phone lock screen is now gone.
when i hit the hang up/power off button instead of locking the screen it goes black but when i hit another button it comes right back to the main today screen but no lock screen. bit of a problem when it does in the pocket.
any help??
hi
start - settings - menu -all settings - lock -(untick prompt if phone unused for) ----follow instructions -- reboot
regards
op
hold down your power button and lock the screen using that, then when you put the phone back into sleep it will wake up locked.
You may have to do this everytime after a reboot. Eventually mine sorted itself out and I no longer have to do it
This happened to me after I installed the HTC SMS patch. It also makes it so you can only preview your emails and not go into it by selecting. Installed and hard reset twice thinking it was a fluke. Nope.
i got the lock screen back by going to Settings / Change background of lock screen, then softreset. don't know why it went missing and why i got it back doing this... but it worked.
Hi All, I needs some help!
I have a Vodafone HTC Magic, all working fine until this morning when it has decided that it does not want to lock the screen.
I have it all set to require a pattern to unlock but this morning I have come to use it and noticed it didn't ask for the pattern.
I checked the settings and they were not set to require a pattern, no idea what changed it? Anyway I set them again but despite this everytime I lock the phone now (basically just by pressing the end call button) any button will bring it back to life and it is not asking for the pattern so everytime it's in my pocket and a button gets pressed the phone comes on!
I haven't installed any new apps and have tried turning it off and taking out the battery but the screen locking just wont work.
EDIT: Also noticed that the home button doesn't do anything now either!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Replying to myself but thought I'd let anyone who was interested know that I sorted it. Not altogether happy though because it required a full factory reset!
Is my phone running Android or Windows??????
I've had this phone for two weeks, and so far I find that 100% of custom lockscreen replacements that I've tried have this problem, and I've tried about a dozen.
When I unlock the phone by pressing the power button or the home button, 10%-20% of the time the custom lock screen will display but the touch screen doesn't respond. What I mean by that is that nothing I do on the screen is registered as a touch; be it trying to unlock, click on a notification, or pull down the lockscreen. I then have to turn the screen off and then on again for the touch screen to work. Furthermore, if it's a lockscreen that can be bypassed with the home button, I can enter the home screen and STILL can't interact with anything on she screen until I turn the screen off and on again.
I have lock screen security disabled, so it's definitely not that. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas on how to stop this behaviour?
Yo,
yesterday I dropped my GS7E, it wasn't much of a high but the ground was pretty hard. My hardglass screen protector shattered a little but not really much, just the bottom corners of the screen protector got hurt.
Since then, my phone is not waking the screen up the first time I press the power button to unlock the phone. It its waking up but the screen stays black, I can unlock it by fingerprint while the screen is black and even take photos or open any app. I also feel the vibration.
So to fix it and actually get into the phone with screen on I have to lock and unlock it again. If I lock the phone after using it normally, it would work the normal way after unlocking it right again. But if I waited some time and I try unlocking, the screen would just stay black for the first attempt of unlocking.
Isnt that weird? xD
Just wanted to share that and maybe someone even got a permanent fix for that
What happens if you turn it on with the home button instead of the power button?
It wakes up the screen like it would normally do, but the first time I presss it, the screen stays black and I have to lock it again and then I can wake up the screen with home button.
Forgot to mention that.
Probably no solution to that I guess?
If I were u I reflash the firmware. Dont know if that fix it but i would give a try, u got nothing to loose
