Is it ok to use remove cached data in the stock recovery every once in a while or is it not necessary on this phone?

[Q] App Backup- Not a stupid question

I was wondering how to backup an app WITHOUT backing up the data along with it. I have been having permission problems with my restores after flashing new roms. I believe it has something to do with the user data that comes with the apps.
Basically, how do I backup apps alone, without any of my personal data coming along with it?
Is there such a function on Titanium Backup? I have been using this.

With Titanium Backup you can restore Apps one by one. or as a batch option. You do not have to back up personal data with the app data.
This is what i do when i switch ROMs. I just skip the sign in, then log in via the accounts and sync option, then use the market to download T/Backup and batch restore and allow Google to re-sync my phone and use tit/bac for my apps.

Right, that is what I meant. When you just backup apps alone, the app data comes along with it. For example, when I restore angry birds alone, I still have all of my accolades. I was wondering how I could restore apps similar to freshly installing it onto my phone.

Yes. If you do a batch restore you can have it do "restore apps with data" and it will act like you never left the game.
I forgot to mention a part, please look at my above post again. Thanks

Yes you can also restore apps w/o user data.
you can also unlink apps from the market. So like with the recent flash update you can unlink the app from the market so you do not get market updates. so i can keep 10.1 and not worry about 10.2.
So how would I do that?

after you've rooted
after you've made sure s=off
you need to install the TB from the market and the Pro Key
once you you do that open the app up, download BusyBox via the "problems" button.
Then go to the "backup/restore" button and pick what you want to freeze/backup/restore
if you want to do a batch option from the main screen press the menu > BATCH > then select what you want to .

You can also try MyBackup Root. Its free and a little easier to use than Titanium. Seems to work great for me.
As well as ES file explorer or AntTek app manager.

[Q] Data restoring through Titanium Backup

Hello,
i want to change my ROM (i'm using Evo-x4 right now) and i need to restore my apps with data.
The problem is, that one app after restoring app+data is acting like it's normal installed app without my data.
I can make those data work only through dirty flash without wiping data, but then i'm not seeing QuickToggles and i'm experiencing much problems with connections.
Any other way i can restore the app without problems?

[Q] Revert back to stock?

I have been rooted for a while, and have always had a custom ROM but I wanna try going stock using xposed. How would I flash the stock image? Do I just treat it exactly like a new ROM? Or do I have to do something special or different? I normally use Titanium, but I will make both a titanium backup and a nandroid backup if I do this. Thank you for any help.

Why did you change your MAC address? How can you know you didn't duplicate someone else's?
Copy important stuff over to extSDCard. Good backup policy as well... Then factory reset. Or reflash your ROM.
DL and flash SuperSU from chainfire's site.

If you do a backup to internal you should then be able to connect to your PC and copy the backup across.
I'd recommend getting an SD Card and using it though - they're very cheap - you could get a 16GB one in Australia for about $10 and we're expensive for tech.

Clean install doesn't mean that your phone will be completely wiped out....only the system partition (including the ROM, apps, data etc.) will be affected...so photos, videos, docs etc. will stay untouched.

You mean flashing. Clean means clean ^^
And **** happens on tw, better to back up in case.
But seriously if you can't connect your phone to a pc you shouldn't touch anything at all at this time, but keep Googling and reading.

Completely Wipe Data Through SafeStrap?

Hello, I am currently rooted on OK3 using the new method.
My question is can I completely wipe out all internal data via SafeStrap? Or would I have to flash via Odin?
The issue is Factory Reset does not remove a specific Malware component. So it is likely installed in system partition. Is there a way to erase all content internally via SafeStrap and then flash new ROM (so I do not have to go through root process again)?
Thanks!

have you tried going into titanium backup and freezing and deleting the malware? and what is it and howd u get it? also try a full wipe even ur sd card if you think it might be on there if not then dont worry about it also try root uninstaller from the app store and try uninstalling it that way or going into a file explorer app and deleting it in there (file explorer, root explorer, etc etc)

Thank you for the information, but given the nature of the code, it is not possible for me to determine what it has and has not infected. Obviously I would format the SD card, but that is not my primary concern. My question is will I be able to clear everything via Safestrap or will I have to use Odin to do a true 100% reset.
This is a controlled test (intentionally infected device) to test how effective the malware is at evading removal.
I guess the real question I am asking is "does flashing a new rom delete all previous data"

SafeStrap can selectively wipe any or all of the system partitions.
Flashing a ROM in SafeStrap overwrites the system partition, but does not by default wipe the cache and dalvik cache automatically (so if those remain, provided the ROM even boots with the wrong data in the caches, the malware may remain there depending on what files are infected).
Now...dare I ask why you are developing malware?

He said he intentionally infected his device in order to test how difficult the malware is to remove.
Android phones now make up the bulk of all computing devices, so they're a huge target for malware developers. Malware is mostly spread through intentionally-infected pirated apps, but occasionally some slips through into the Play Store for short periods.

So if I wipe the cache and dalvik cache (including the other partitions) with Safestrap the phone will be completely "fresh" after flashing a new ROM ?

Exactly. There are many malicious insertions into the pirate scene. I am researching old malware to get a better understanding of android security.

In SafeStrap, choose "Advanced Wipe" and select everything except the "external SDcard". It should wipe out everything.
