I've already reported him/her for cursing. There isn't any need for that.
I wish there was an option to delete threads if mistakes are made by posting duplicate threads. Would help free a lot of space.

^ with all respect, I've already answered his question in another thread. If you guys want people making two threads for a topic in the sticky, so be it.
I thought all the effort I put into the sticky would prevent this, and be appreciated by the moderators.
ALSO (from the FORUM RULES, please note rule ONE):
FORUM RULES
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
and Rule 5
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
If what I typed is "flaming", I'm sorry... I wanted to say worse.
^ I cussed? LOL..... and no, the sticky clearly says terminal emulator.

i don't know about your vibrant but when you hold down power, it says power off. Then you can turn it back on. There's no option for rebooting even though that's the complete process once turned back on.
you see where that can be confusing?
So following step by step should avoid extra questions. Thank you

^ I did not say use the power button, I said you should add "reboot" as a line in terminal emulator, to prevent from having to use the power button.

When you type "reboot" it restarts the phone so its a shortcut rather than powering it off then powering it back on is what s15274n is saying.
Even though Reboot phone isnt there, its a command and it'll work.

He's telling you that "reboot" is a command...

i can't get a break can I? people will take that out of context but Im clearly saying, if a bunch of people are giving up 15 dollars, sometimes thousands of people from around the world and someone post a new rom from their development.. why not be clearer and get mad when people ask questions? But I'll shut up because I'm unrooted now. It's much more complicated than my N1 im guessing because of the double storage (internal and external SD card)
There are some bad people on these forums though. I wouldn't have a problem helping people out until they have it down packed. Im sure they would want the same thing in return. But thanks for the help that I do get from the good peoples.

^ the irony being I answered all of your questions, and did not get harsh till you posted yet another thread... at least you posted in the right section this time though.

Hi Zephik,
I tried to unroot my device by using the command "rm -r /system/app/Superuser.apk"
I got no such file or directory error. Is that means my device is not yet rooted?

newbie alert!!!

Sorry if this is a stupid question guys, but I've just bought a HD2 with the energy rom already on it, what is this and why is it better than the standard rom?
Hi,
You have 100% right - it is stupid question.
ROM - It's another name for operating system with drivers and settings, its a compilation.
Why You use Win XP on Your desktop instead of Windows 3.11 ?
! Because it's better, it's faster, more intuitive, more stable, it's.....
Each ROM is developed for some reason - somebody fix something or change few things.
In my case HTC gives a sh_ _ on me with ROM updates for my region / country - Only thing to do was to flash unofficial ROM.
Read, then ask question.
wow, thats the way to make a neebie welcome. I know you guys want people to read and search more before posting but come on... Im glad not everone is like that.
I also have a couple of newbie questions but ill post in about 6 months after ive read every single post on the site to make sure no one hs asked the question before.
RReckless
Don't make a evil daemon from me , I start with joke , then gently tell what is what and why with ROM, and on the end give a good advice to search and read before asking.
know it all geeks
dont worry bout him mate u always get some gimp know it all like him on here theres lots of helpful people on here 2
perhaps I should've worded it better, I've haven't had a standard hd2 as it was like this when I bought it, but I meant what is different on the energy rom to standard? also is there asetting to lock the keypad when I press the bottom left phone button? mine just turns the screen off but all you have to do is repress it and your back on, I've already called someone in my pocket

In regards to your Energy ROM question, I've been to the HD2 ROM forum (couple of clicks back from this one) and the top posting is the Energy ROM:

There is a brief outline of the advantages, straight from the developer themselves.

Lock the phone manually by pressing the start button then tap LOCK (at the bottom of the screen), then next time the screen goes off it will lock automatically.

what exactly do you mean by "regulars?" Is this how "regulars" welcome a new user on this forum?
i don't see why "regulars" like you, act like you are getting paid that a noob redundant question annoys you. You are not even obligated to answer any questions that you do not feel like answering.

The reason regulars are like that is it wastes everyone's time when you ask the same questions over and over.
It wastes the noob's time typing the message when a simple search up the top can answer it in a few clicks.
It wastes the noob's and the regular's time by making them sift through pages of redundant threads rather than having new original issues - if a noob has an original issue, it may take ages for someone to find it to answer, thats if they manage to find it at all.
A lot of noobs tend to ask the redundant question without searching, then when the thread moves through several pages, they bump it with a "no one going to help!?!" reply. This would move it above an issue that may well have a higher importance, yet it would have been quicker for them to search than to trawl through and find their thread to reply to.
If noobs did more searching, we wouldn't have to keep explaining the reasons why we ask noobs to search every time they don't.

Having said the above, let's pretend a newbie have joined the forum today and have asked a question that may have been asked and solved already or better yet asked something that a no brainer can do.
Does that make it annoying for "regulars" already? Your explanation sounds more like you are saying that "regulars" are obligated to answer questions from a noob, yet it is not.
and you said ---> "then when the thread moves through several pages, they bump it with a "no one going to help!?!" reply." <---- and these kind of things affect the so called "regulars"? Does it hurt??? that you need to harass a newbie?
My reaction would be, so what if it moved several times??? I've seen a lot of a very old post that is being answered to this date.

That sticky serves as guide to a do a search, because not all users know how to use search.
My point is, you and the rest of the so called "regulars" act like they have the right to harass or treat newbies like they did have no education at all.
It doesn't mean you see "newbie or junior member" then they should be treated this way.
There's another way of saying things like "Hey man, try searching the forum by using this" instead of "make sure you DO its extremely annoying for the regulars on this site to keep seeing the same noob questions asked over and over again."

Just to re-iterate... my original post here (ie/ telling the noobs to use search) was not intended as any kind of harassment... just a solid nudge in the direction of the search function.
I mean theres a moderater sticky saying the exact same thing i am saying!
Granted his words might seem friendlier then mine but look at the post i was replying to. Theres an example of someone using sarcasm to try and make the point that it takes too much time to search.
The reason it takes a long time to search is because noobs DONT search and post the same questions over and over. Its an endless circle of death.

It is because of your tar file on odin.it was two small.try re odin ing it with a tar file of 255 mb or something like that.happened to me before too when I was a super noob but fear not you'll eventually become less of a noob too as time passes

Using google first saves you time because its an immediate response, it saves everyone else time having to an a simple question, and it saves our forums from being cluttered. I said nothing rude and I would have answered his question had it not already been answered (which I highlighted with my quote and saying "this"). If you want to respond to my adult advice and response by acting childish, that is your prerogative but I will continue to post help to those who made an effort to get it.

I believe his point was, however, that before one starts an endeavor that can break a piece of $500 hardware one should generally make sure they understand all of the possible outcomes and how to deal with them which he pointed out that you didn't. He could have said it in a more polite manner but he was correct.
I have ben to this screen when my odin got interupted. Pull the battery for a couple minutes. Hold down the one key on the keyboard and then power on while holding it. This puts you in download mode. Odin back to stock.

It appears I have one thanks or maybe I cant count. More than likely since I dont cry about wanting thanks that could be it. The purpose of a forum is to get help. Regardless if the answer could be found on google the forum would not need to exist. I am on one forum and it is the most mature forum there is. I see question repeated over and over again. Even in this case people still answer it like it was asked the first time. If all forums were like that, forums would be a much better place.

I do not understand why it is difficult to simply search for an answer. If you cannot find the answer, then post and people will help. As I've stated I do very often provide detailed explanations to people even to those who had not searched for the answer however I always add that in the future they should seek out the answer on their own first. His question had been answered and as such I stated that he should try and figure things out on his own. I have never begged for a "Thanks" and I could care less about them but I have spent hours of my time helping others fix issues and there are many people who can attest to that. Leatherneck has done the same, in fact he has even helped me a few times that I can think of in recent history. On the other hand, the only posts I've seen from you are complaints about other users or asking other users for help. The point of these forums is to allow a place for developers to gather and together fix and hack away at new phones and such, not to aid in every little personal disaster. That is why it is a FORUM RULE to search. A rule for which violators can receive infringements or even bans. By telling people to search, I am not telling them to shut up I am showing people how to be an active member of this community and if you cannot grasp that then your place here is very limited.
Nom glad to help.why you ask you said thank you

Developer Only Posts

Would it be possible to make it so that we can switch to a "OP posts only" mode that allows us to read only what the original poster has posted? For example if say eugene373 posted something but the thread is contaminated with a hundred pages of comments, we could switch to this mode and only see what eugene has commented to see what he has to say about his post. I think this would be really useful in some cases

Well then, it seems that you totally discount the ability of anybody other than the OP helping people or answering questions. Either that or you expect that every OP is awesome at keeping the OP up to date and answering everyones question, even if someone else answered it.
Since both of these things are rarely if ever true, your suggestion would simply not work out very well.
If you MUST have this feature, nobody need code in a new mode for you. Simply:
Open the thread
Click Search this thread
Click advanced search
Search for only posts by the name of the OP

help with sdk

not sure where to post this exactly if i am wrong please move this. i have installed jdk and sdk and trying to run android commander but it says your adb doesnt work please install sdk but i have everything installed correctly. at the bottom it says set android sdk tools in system path when i do and locate sdk tools and click it says adb.exe not found if someone could tell me what to do it would be very appreciated i am running windows vista.
wrong section this is for development and howtos only, try general next time, but ill try to help ya since the post is here anyways.
use your pc navigate to \android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
adb.exe got put here by google they moved it from the tools folder. try adding that folder to your environment variables.
Questions go in general. Actually, this doesn't even have anything to do with the Fascinate at all, so this should just go in the Android forum. Better yet, google search how to set a system path in Vista, since this is a Windows question.
As for the answer to your question, maybe you could find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
the first response answered my question the second one was not required you act like i broke the law asking a question on a forum i really don't understand why people have to be rude like they never ask a question in the wrong spot. if a rude comment is all you have keep it to yourself.

the first response answered my question the second one was not required you act like i broke the law asking a question on a forum i really don't understand why people have to be rude like they never ask a question in the wrong spot. if a rude comment is all you have keep it to yourself.

If you check the date stamps, you might see how likely it was that I was writing it at the same time as the first poster.
I'm assuming you both read into my post with a sarcastic tone, however, this was not my intention. Believe me, a lot of people are getting tired of people cluttering up the development forum with unrelated posts, but I have a lot of patience so I try to point people in the right place. It's not unheard of for people to get chewed out by some of the seasoned board members. Yet, I answered your question without insult or name calling, or quite frankly anything thing that could be considered "rude".

I enjoy helping people who break rules, then getting insulted by them. See, now I'm being sarcastic.
in all reality when you read text, read it as if it were written without a tone ie; sarcastic, funny, pissed, ect.. this way you dont feel insulted by the text. he helped you be satisfied with that. dont get upset if it seems insulting or not.

I've found out that on the internet, people will take you seriously if you are being sarcastic, and they will assume you are being sarcastic (or "rude") whenever you are being direct.
I've never really seen the point of feeling any emotion as a result of what someone says to me on a forum. I used to try to joke around with people, but I rarely do that any more since most people mis-interpret things.
I didn't even flinch when I opened up this thread. Why would I even care that they misunderstood me? The OP got his answer, and learned something. That was all that I was trying to accomplish in posting, so I'm not offended.
In real life, I rarely offend people, so when I first started talking on forums, part of me was sad every time someone got mad at me. That part of me wore off after it happened enough times. I guess you can only maintain the emotional response to the internet if you are the one who is always getting mad at others.
Instead, now I just focus on being helpful instead of worrying about making sure I word things carefully enough to not offend those who are easily offended.
the fact remains that this has nothing to do with development...in about 40 places all over xda it specifically states what NOT to put in development..which is anything that isnt put out rom/mod/kernel wise
not trying to flame the thread anymore than it has...but its things like this that drive a lot of us nuts
and as a member for longer than ive been posting, you should have been aware of this.
i am sorry for taking it the wrong way and for over reacting as well as posting in the wrong spot. in the future i will try and post in the right section or ask before i post.

Write Protection unexpectedly restored after 4.4.4 update. Root survived

Yesterday I updated to 4.4.4 (root still works, SuperSU survival enabled)
The problem is that Xposed Mod doesn't work anymore. It looks like write protection reenabled after update (checked it via PC and adb shell command)
Is there a way to fix that?

The write protection? Not at this time, unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Perhaps someone will come up with an exploit that will turn write protection off on 4.4.4, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I have an unlocked Developer Edition on 4.4.4 with root and WP off, but on my day-to-day Maxx, I'm still at 4.4 with root and WP off and I've frozen MotorolaOTA and Updater to prevent any OTA's from sneaking in.

I'm in the same situation. If you install/update xposed, then cancel the reboot and choose soft reboot, xposed will work. It took several attempts the first time for it to take, but eventually did. The down side is every time your phone shuts off or reboots, you have to reinstall and soft boot. Also, and this may be only me, but about one a day every app crashes at once and forces me to reboot and reinstall xposed. I'm assuming it's because of the framework not being properly written to the system. It's a pain in the butt, but xposed is worth it to me, so I've been dealing with it. Good luck
Wow we really needed a new thread about this. It had been discussed at length already. Did you not read any other posts in this forum.

Search is your friend - discussed over and over in every other thread about 4.4.4.
I keep getting an error when doing the official update.. Anyone had the same issue?

Had similar problem. I reflashed 'boot' or 'recovery' (don't remember) via fastboot and it helped.
You can check update log in order to determine exact reason

Or just ignore it? It's not like this is a highly active device forum that these are getting in the way of something important.
Not you but the general attitude in this device's forums lately are sad. Yes people ask the same questions a lot, yes it's annoying for those of us that read everything, however you can't assume that everyone reads every post in every thread. It's very easy to just chuckle at the repeat offenders and move along. Beating people down because they asked a question that was already answered on page 45 of 79 in another thread is just as lazy as them not looking for the answer to begin with.

No it is not and if you don't like the attitude of the devs in this forum then feel free to step up and make your own exploits.
Rule number 1 of the forum rules sticky is "search before posting". It is very appropriate to call someone out when they blatantly disregard those rules.
Don't get butthurt on someone for knowing the rules and trying to cut clutter.

Could not have proven my point better, thank you.
If anyone is "butthurt" it appears to be you. What exploits have you made by the way? Everyone has their place in the forums whether they be noob end-users or developers who create great things from virtually nothing. Remember the Golden Rule and things will be much better off.

Take a look around this community and then ask me what I've done for it again. It is users like you that have blatant disregard for rules and feel entitled that have made most of us apprehensive about helping anyone anymore.

If you want to flex your dev muscles please look around for what I've done as well. This isn't a contest. Please tell me where I've been entitled and/or shown a "blatant disregard for rules". You sir have some serious anger issues.

Anger? No I'm not angry, i'm simply defending someone that you attacked for pointing out the rules. Just like @NWKENT @Caseyk621 @bigv5150 @Jaocagomez would
Furthermore i don't care what you have done for the galaxy community or the roms you made for their devices. We are talking here.
Anyway your argument is invalid and without basis. Attempting to show this to you is likened to speaking with a brick wall.

What does forum readership numbers have to do with posting integrity? Your crassness we do not need here.

Hey if you would rather have "devs" bashing people for asking questions than people simply answering questions or ignoring duplicate questions, so be it.
