Overclocking

It's not intended for the Wizard but it works!
There is one limitation though, after standby it reverts back to default.
Thanks to Kremo for this find!

I tried it and it worked!
It said my OMAP is running at 180MHZ! I thougt it is 200Mhz?
So i should be able to boost the speed to 200 Mhz (programm uses 8Mhz steps, so it would be 204Mhz) without any problem?!

on my wizard the about page says 195, TCPMP says 168 and this app says 180...
I used TCPMP to check.

Where do i find that TCPMP?

Sweet, does it speed up both cores? Anyone seen what speed the wizard maxes out at?

wow this is amazing i have been waiting for this forever. my sjphone is really fast now and i have less skipping. my snes emulator runs so much better. thanks for sharing this with us.

That's all great, but more speed comes with more heat... Does anybody have an idea what this overclocker will do with the cpu? Does the OMAP cpu have a way of measuring the temperature?

If you overdo it,the worst that happens is that it resets itself.

Just don't forget to run the app before you use e.g. Skype because speed goes back to default when you put your phone in standby.

thanks bolasz. the highest stable i get mine to is 264 through the app which reports 250 in tcpmp. if i do anything higher it just freezes and i reset.

Parameters of the command line
OmapClock -clock <freq> [-confirm] [-launch <path> [-restore]]
-clock <freq>
installs frequency of the processor in MHZ
-confirm
require acknowledgements of the change the frequency
-launch <path>
start the program (the way to reference in rabbit earses!)
-restore
restore former frequency after termination of the uncared-for program (is ignored unless it is given parameter -launch)
Sequence parameter importances has not.
The Examples:
OmapClock -clock 132
OmapClock -clock 144 -confirm
OmapClock -clock 144 -launch "\Storage\test.exe" -restore

Unfortunately yes.
But actualy there is no point to run your device at higher frequency all time.
The -launch parameter as suggested by arc is great to switch to higher freq only when needed e.g when you want to use Skype.

i'm not familiar with command lines for pocket pc. how would i make it so that it overclocks for skype and restores it in the end. do i make some kind of bat file?

Change Skype's shortcut in \Windows\Start menu to
OmapClock -clock 216 -launch "\where\skype\is\installed\skype.exe" -restore

2. Change the following key, using the registry editor:
from \HKLM\System\Filesys TempPath = \Application Data\Volatile
to \HKLM\System\Filesys TempPath = \Storage Card\Volatile
3. Turn off the pocket pc with the power button for about 30 sec (not soft reset/hard reset).
4. Turn it on again.

The comment for it says this:
That "tweak" listed only changes where some programs store temporary files. PocketRAR, amongst others, uses that directory to temporarily extract files to when it is working...
This is not "using SD as virtual memory" as the name suggests, it is simply moving the "Temp" directory.

SD Card's reading speed is too slow....not as fast as RS-MMC

yeah ready boost, although I am using a 2 gig sd card now in my laptop just for that so it does work. But for WM it seems unlikely. I just am a wishful thinker, even though 512m to 1gig ram in a ppc sounds soooo cool. LOL

i've seen a thread discussing about 1G or 2G RAM...
and u can google it if u are interest in....
the key to upgrade is to buy a propiate IC part for Hermes(and we've already worked out which IC can be used for hermes.)

That's the key.
WinCE 5 now has a memory management limit
it can only support 32 process in 32MB...
and WinCE 6 provides more efficiency management on memory and cancelled the limit on 32MB for 32 process....
So, let's waiting 4 WM6.1...

windows mobile 6.1 is not based on ce6 it's still ce5 like wm6
and mem allo size dont have to do what can be allocated as mem
not sure if ce6 even support something like readyboost

Any idea how to change the dialer skin for HTC Gene (P3400). Have read a lot of threads on changing dialer skins but they all seem to be for other devices. Desperataley searching for a nice (possibly blue coloured) dialer skin for my P3400. Any help would be highly appreciated.

However, before installing this cab, I want to confirm whether this skin supports Smart Dial feature. I am asking this because in many threads I read, it was mention that certain skins do not support Smart Dial or that one has to disable Smart Dial before installing that skin.

buddy am not intrested in today screens nd about screen ..I already knw that but I just wana knw differences in features ..like watz new in wm6.1 it is just a name wm5 changes to wm6.1 .. or is that features ..plzz let me knw wat r the updates in wm6.1 ..would be thank full for your help

The main difference is about messages , which they have added the smart messaging system , in which you open a sms from a particular person ( a new one ) .. You will see it in a single page titled conversation from (that particular person ) ;;;;;;; See attachement

Programs not runnig because of WVGA ? Not anymore ! W VGA FIX 2

Hey !
A while ago I owned a Toshiba G900 which also had a WVGA Screen.
Many programms had problems with this screen especially emulators.
So I searched and found -WVGA FIX- a programm written from Cotulla for the G900 which emulates a VGAscreen. So I was able to use mostly every program.
A week ago I received my X1 and tried WVGA Fix ! It didnt work...
After some searching i found a improved Version -WVGA FIX 2- now supporting all WM 5, 6, 6.1 and WVGA devices.
This little Program virtually "cuts" the pixels bigger than VGA from your device.
Dont get scared.. This only happens as long as you run the program.
Those pixels get black and the program emulates a VGA screen.
When you choose to get back to WVGA everything is fine again
So most programms (not only emulators) will work fine on our nice WVGA screen.
I thought some people here will love this tool too.
PS:Install the cert first, then WVGA FIX2 second.

that helps quite a bit with the emulators. however my main issue is the performance. with sound all the games run really slow. which emulator do you guys use and how do they run performance wise?
another question regarding wvga-fix.:
when i activate it the clicks arent registerd in the right location anymore. its quite hard to start programs then and navigate. that could be an issue with scumm and games that require on screen navigation

this program will be uber great if only it has somekind of profiles to automatically switch between wvga and vga mode whenever specific programs executed.

1. I play play most games without sound. Works really nice. With sounds some emulators can lag. Try to find "your" best settings ;-)
2. The clicks (when using programs ! ) are in the right places. Scumm and everything else will work fine. This happens only in WVGA-FIX-2.

When I run VGA games they just shrink to the default VGA size and I'm left with about a quarter of my screen black at the bottom
The games run perfect but they do not fill the screen.
Is this app supposed to reduce the resolution of the X1 to VGA and therefore make VGA games etc run full screen?
What are the 2 cabs for???

which program do you mean ? theres no link

would this help applications that are slighty out of screen i.e. google navigator 4, tomtom 7 on navigations mode.

I does not work for me
I have installed the cerst file first, and then other file, butt when I start the program I got the same problem as when i tried to play games in scummWM. The screen gets smaller, but when you point it points at the wrong place, it points 1 or 2 centimetres to the left from the place I'm pointing at.
What are I'm doping wrong?
I' would be great full for all help, any help. I would really love to play BS1 and 2 on my X1.

Hey.
To play SCUMM 0.12 Games, just run WVGAFIX and use the VGA Setting.
The screen shrink to VGA.
Start SCUMM and go to OPTIONS
Under GRAPHICS use
Graphics mode : HQ2x
Render mode: default
Fullscreen mode -> YES
Aspect ratio correction -> YES
->>>> Have fun playing SCUMM Games ;-)

Well, I think I have a solution for this one. WVGAFIX2 has two command line parameters: "-800" for switching to VGA and "-600" to switch back to WVGA. Now you only need to make a batch file which first launches the VModeSwitch.exe -800, then it launches the game and finally, when the game is exited, it launches VModeSwitch.exe -600.
Instructions (for MortScript):
If your phone doesn't support .bat files (mine doesn't), you need to download MortScript. That's a nice script utility for Pocket PCs

woah great post, I will try that sometime later

Oh yeah, I found more usefull stuff about MortScript as I was reading the manual. With X1 the changes are that WVGAFIX2 flips the screen upside down making the pen miss the targets. You should be able to fix it simply by toggling the keyboard in and out, but you can do it in the script too.
Rotate( 0 ) changes the screen to the portrait position and
Rotate( 270 ) changes the screen to landscape position.
As you can propably guess, the number is between 0-360. So go ahead and mix that somewhere between the code if you want.
My code for Orions currently looks like this:

You propably shouldn't copy paste my code if you don't understand what's going on. But basicly:
After it has changed to VGA (and the screen is upside down), it Rotates 270 to landscape mode. Then it launches the game and after that it changes back to WVGA. Now here is where I went crazy. It actually checks from the registry if the keyboard is in or out and then rotates the screen accordingly to either portrait mode or landscape mode.

Works fine, so long as there is no videos or games will be showed.
the idea is pretty good, just a shame the fps is so low (0-30 fps)
We need minimum 60 fps. We can hope that there will be better fps with the time.
How it works
It is a simple Java Swing application, delivered as an all-inclusive executable JAR file. Therefore, one can launch it simply by double-clicking on the JAR file, or run the following command
java -jar droidAtScreen-0.3.jar

That's pretty damn high quality. Even zoomed up to 1080P it looks rather good.

Err, What's the path to ADB executable?...

It's simple..
1. make sure java runtime 32bit is installed "JRE"
2. Make sure the sony erricson companion or SEUS "Sony Erricson Update Service" is installed so that the drivers are available.
3. Get the android SDK.. the ABD executable is in there. "ABD.exe"
Copy the droidAtScreen-0.3.jar file into the folder where ABD is.
Or setup the paths to it.
4. Enable USB debugging on your phone.
5. run droidAtScreen-0.3.jar
Enjoy!

Bluetooth & wifi does not have the bandwidth required to work properly.
A screen of 854x480 pixels is alot of data to to send over usb if not properly compressed
and if you increase comprestion cpu/gpu usage goes up and fps and unit responsiveness goes down.
Bluetooth: 2.5 Mbp/s
Wifi: 54.5 Mbp/s
USB: +-480Mbp/s
Also the fps is limited due to the cpu speed and screen refresh rate.

Good point, haven't really thought about it.
How about a feature that would enable to control our X10s through this app? Doable?

The picture quality is definitely perfect, but the only thing that makes this tool unusable is its FRAME RATE. Even when I set it to max 30 (only in the first version 0.3) it still acts as if it is in 10 or lower. What is this?
