Personalizatiob Status - Vibrant General

I wanted to verify that my Vibrant was SIM unlocked, so I typed in the command *#7465625#, which brings up the lock menu. I was amused to find out that there is a typo (I assume) in the menu title. The "Personalization Status" menu has a B instead of an N, so, in fact, the menu reads "Personalizatiob Status".
The N and B are adjacent on the QWERTY keyboard.

I tried this command... i got "USSD Code Running" and then came back with an error
*edit - I'm just stupid... forgot the asterisk at the beginning. Re-entered and it worked fine... lolz

Perhaps your phone must be unlocked to run the command. Works for me.

I'm pretty sure that's a type. Maybe notify Samsung so they can fix it in their FroYo update?

It is because you did not type in the * before the #.
You typed in #7465625# instead of *#7465625#

If you notice, in the Add Account screen when you add services for syncing such as Facebook, the descriptions are written in really terrible Engrish. Such as:
"A Myspace approaches to synchronising data to allow access to your status, and more from where you are. And then you can see the new feeds on the idle by widget."
That's word for word when you hit Add Account and select Myspace for example.

Yes it uses Button 1, change it in Settings > Buttons ... You should also remove all traces of the Cybertron Voice Control.. You can refer to http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11118 for example and it references which registry entries to modify. You also shoud delete sddaemon from your startup. If you google for "enable microsoft voice command" or such you'll get lots of cewl information. Darryl Burling wrote a nice utility ... http://www.burling.co.nz/Default.aspx?tabid=150
Trying to teach you how to fish ...
btw, regarding "on startup get error with vioice command" ... my psychic advisor quit on me so I don't have a clue what that error might be.
Good luck !
Make sure you installed Voice Command to the Device not the Storage Card.
Truer words have seldom been spoken!

ixMAT, easily move a webpage/sms/phone# from your PC to G1!

Just a little app I've been using that seems worthy to note...This will help you move webpages/messages/phone#s from the large screen/full keyboard of your PC to you g1 for processing in just a few seconds (no typing required for webpages just c/p!
Website from pc - phone:
First you'll need ixMAT Scanner from the market..
Browser to your favorite uber long web address on your pc.
Copy the website's address
Open this page http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ be sure you have 'content type' set to 'URL'
In the are labeled 'URL:' paste the uber long web address then press 'generate'
Open ixMAT Scanner, and focus it on the QR Code image that was produced
if all goes well you should now have a link in ixMAT that your can open in the g1's browser..
Phone # from pc -> phone:
Also you can use the same website and ixMAT to add phone numbers to your contacts.
Choose "phone number" under content and follow the same procedure as before.
BEWARE tho, trying to use the 'dial number' feature in ixMAT always causes a force close on my phone.
SMS from pc -> phone:
Another cool feature of the combo is the ability to write an SMS on the your pc.
Choose 'SMS' under content, then fill in the appropriate info # + msg then hit generate.
Scan with ixMAT and after a few seconds your should get 'send sms' 'send mms' options.
Click ''send sms' (or 'send mms' if you want to attach pics etc.) and the info is set up ready for you to hit send or w/e in your messenger
hope this is helpful, it's easier the 2nd time..lol
wow, that actually works a hell of alot better than i thought it would.
quicker than typing out the url thats for sure!
cheers for this
lol cool avatar, you stole 2 seconds of my life!
glad ya like it the email and sms features are useful as well
you can also copy+paste this into the title bar of your browser and have it auto-generate the image for you
Code:
javascript:void(window.location="http://qrcode.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&d="+window.location)
ahh, cool. I also found this firefox add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8613 that installs to the status bar, just click and it creates a code for the page your viewing. downside is it seems to redirect you through another site first..
The other signed QR generator 'Mobile something' add-on doens't seem to work for me atm :/
If i put a telephone number and then i scan it with G1 there a way to add the number on the contact list?. i can only open thw webbrowser.

Ya, you have to change the 'content type' to "phone number" on the QR Code generator site. what i get from a phone number such as ########## is 'dial number', or 'add contact'
no this is not true it doesn't work for me
Works great. Thanks for the good idea.
this rocks!! by the way, right back atcha as far as your avatar is concerned
mastercut, ok.. seems there's some issues with the updated ixMAT it no longer dials numbers (force closes), it's still works good for adding to contacts tho... oh well, bummer lol

hero can't connect to the internet sometimes and...

My problem is that the device more and more often can't connect to EDGE network. I'm just trying to load a site and it says "check your settings..." I try several times and its all the same. Only after a reboot is works. Any suggestions? ROM is original.
Another question - I pretty often use phone numbers like xxx-xxx-xxxx p xxx...
The problem is that it look like my hero doesn't understand "p" sign inside the phone number in my contacts, so I have manually enter all digits after main number. I use that for calling cards where I enter PIN after mail phone number and then country code, but I have to manually dial that.
Is there a fix for that? It's very important for me as I use that every day.
Thanks in advance.
For pauses,
http://www.technipages.com/htc-hero-add-pauses-to-phone-number.html
suggests using commas instead.
It doesn't look like it will work though, but I see a P key and a W key when I go to enter a number. Perhaps you could try the P or W and see if it does what is necessary. I can't really try it here as I don't use any services that rely on it.
Nothing to suggest really about the internet. Who's your provider, and what software version is on the phone. Have you kept it up to date?

Contacts Problem in Messaging

Am facing a strange problem with my new Nexus, In Messaging when am trying to compose a message, In TO option it doesn,t show nay name and not even show any names from contacts, For Example, in my Contacts there is a nmae JOHN, but When in Messaging TO Option when i Type J it soesn,t show any contacts started from J, Everytime i have to add the Mobile Number there or Send SMS via Contacts.
Help me regarding this
Unless you memorized the person's area code + number, the name will not appear when you composed regular texts. I have found the fastest way to compose texts is to scroll through the contacts, click the name, and then select the green message smiley. Adds a few seconds of time onto the composition, but you get faster with it when you're used to scrolling through your contacts.

That's not true. I type the first letter of the name and they show up. I know what your problem is too.
You need to edit your contacts and add the number as "Mobile". I assume right now you have them set as "Home" which is the default. Your phone doesn't display "Home" numbers when you're texting.

It was my understanding you had to type two letters to get the auto-suggest to pop up, not just one. Try "JO"...

You can type one or two. His problem is that he has their phone numbers set to "Home" instead of "Mobile".

Seriously, I've always (had a G1 since launch as well) had to type two letters before the suggestions came up, I'm actually testing this right now. Going through each letter of the alphabet, and nothing comes up with just one letter inputted. If your phone does it with one, I'd like to know how!

Oh well I guess you're right. I guess I've never stopped at one letter =P
But either way I know what he's talking about. My wifes number got changed to "Home" a while ago and it would NOT display her name in the TO field. I went to edit her contact and found that it said "Home" so I changed it to "Mobile" and it fixed it.
Speak of the devil. It just did it again and I just fixed it lol.

Android EPST Commit Failed when trying to set msid and mdn

I've recently switched cellular service carriers and needed to activate my phone with the new carrier's info. To follow their activation process I needed to be on a stock ROM (wouldn't work on cyanogenmod). I have an Sprint HTC One and there are a bunch of RUU's out there for it, so I went with one of those.
My phone boots and I can run things just fine. I can even jump on WIFI and install things like normal. But there doesn't appear to be any network for the phone. I talked to a rep from the carrier a she gave me a way to view and modify the mdn and msid (# # <msl> #), which appear to be blank (they display as 'No' in the EPST app.
When I enter my mdn and msid and then select 'Commit Modifications' from the menu it pops up a toast that says 'Commit Failed'. I've captured logs using logcat and there doesn't appear to be any glaring errors. The last thing that seems to happen is `I/DataObject( 4106): write command to radio:NORMAL_OFFLINE_MODE`. I haven't had much luck figuring out why this is failing, or why it seems like nothing in the logcat seems to indicate that it's trying to write anything. I'll be decompiling EPST to try to track it down, but if anyone has any insight as to what might be wrong I would appreciate it.
