I've been having problems with the USB Mass Storage mode in that I never got the "USB Connected" notification so I could mount the card.
This happened on Desire v5, Dan's Froyo with Sense and Mattc's Froyo with Sense.
I tried a bunch of automount apps from the market but only one worked - JRT Software Automount. There is a paid for widget version but I haven't tested that one.
The other problem I had was torch functions. Search for Nexus One Torch and install that and tick the High Brightness box. Even though it says not supported on the widget yet it still works. Add the widget and tick bright widget to have an On/Off button for the torch. The strobe function didn't work via the widget but it does in the app and whilst useless is still quite fun
why open a whole thread for this useless waste of space.

You need latest zImage from cotulla (here) for USB-Mass-Storage to work.
Be aware, i got new files transfered to sd shown only after reboot, so copy over to sd, reboot, files are there. Do a chkdsk /X E: or what your card is while your at it.
THANKS for the Torch-Tip, was missing this one VERY MUCH as we pack our things at the beach at 10pm when its dark...
I had the latest zimage it just wasn't giving me the notification and so I had no way to put it into USB Mass Storage Mode. The app auto triggers the event for me.

Because there is no mention of a fix for this anywhere and I've seen a lot of people with issues and nobody helping.
In any case, is a thread of no use to you really such a problem that you feel the need to be a giant douchewad? This forum isn't just for you, you aren't special.

Thnx alot for the torch tip
As for the mass storage this new zimage won't solve any problems if a reboot is required to see the files, you might as well reboot and copy the files in windows and then boot android !

Thanx for the advice on automount SD card nice software and works just great (JRT Automount)
Just confirming the paid for widget works perfectly.
Everyone having problems with USB mounting check out android commander. Its a sweet little app that runs on your PC and allows you to browse edit and modify system and sdcard fileS. I use it on a daily basis with my HD2 and my nexus one. Just search ill post a link later.

im using N1 torch or is it Nexus One Torch from the market place.
I posted the same torch tip in an older torch / flashlight thread at => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737134 ... I guess most people here can't be ar$ed searching the forums.
Well, at least the automount widget tip was useful (even though I don't need it since mine works fine with 25/7 cotulla zimage and Darkstone's vanillla froyo v1).
About the N1 Torch tip, it didn't work for me it gives me a message " no root, can't open LED "
Im using mattc Froyo with Sense % 25/7 zimage which comes rooted. Just download the root file from the big android thread to root other installs.
As for USB mount - it isnt fixed for everyone with the latest zimage because I also use the 25/7 and I still need this utility to get it to mount.
For the people on the 23/7 zimage I believe that zimage broke the LED functions as it didnt work in the camera either for me with that zimage but the one before it and the one after it worked fine.

How can I take ScreenShots on my MT3G?
Now, before it's said: I have been unable to get the SDK to work, so that's out. Also, I am NOT rooted, as I have the Perfect SPL, and a Gold Card did not work.
I am running Home++, which gives the option to use the camera button to take one, but the MT3G doesn't have a camera button. Would the trackball work for this, as you use it to trigger the camera? Is there another way to do this? Is there maybe a widget or app that would allow screen shots?
Thanks for any help...
A thought for the Dev's; How about an app the when you hit either it, or an option with in it, it will give you 15-20 seconds to get to the screen you want to capture, then does so? Seems like it wouldn't be too hard, but I'm not a Dev, so what do I know... lol

Yay, I figured out a work around. The Home++ will let you override the camera button and use the back button. Awesome.

I did it on two XP workstations, one a Lenovo laptop, and the other a Dell Desktop (both work PC's). I would not recognize the phone. I could use it as mass storage fine, as usual, but the drivers would not install (and yes, I DL'ed that driver app, still nogo). Also, I kept getting error that some file was missing and would need to be downloaded for the SDK, and excell file if I remember correctly. I DL'ed it, put it in multiple directories, still nogo.

For future reference, you needed to turn on USB debugging to take screen shots with the SDK. It's under Settings-Applications-Development

Hey quick question, I really dislike the EVO Sense lockscreen, I'd much rather have the 2.1 lockscreen style, Flan I think. How would I go about removing it?
Thanks!
Turn off Sense and it is gone.
Remove htclockscreen.apk and .odex or rename them and you should get stock while keeping the other sense goodness.
I turned of Sense and it stayed the original Sense lockscreen.
After you turned off Sense, it should have asked you what home screen you wanted...Sense or Launcher. I just tried it on my phone and it worked fine.

Same problem, the sense lock stayed with a disable. I want to keep sense but I dislike the Locker, I tried using terminal with the Unrevoked root and I can't seem to access the APN? It says access denied or something.
Downloaded RootExplorer and mounted Read and Write operations and changed the name of the two files, Rebooting now. Lets see if that worked.
That didn't work, the file comes right back when I reboot.
I would like to now how to do this too. I am using ADW launcher and the Sense lock screen is still there.
Try no lock in the Market. Also lets you use the volume rocker to come out of standby.

We don't have /system rw in android yet. That is why its not working.
You have to boot to recovery (nandroid screen), mount, and change through adb.

Thank you! Just what I was looking for although it would also be nice to be able to double tap one of the for cap buttons to wake up the Evo.
EDIT: Oh it seemed just about perfect and then I figured out that it also turns off the screen lock for incoming calls which is no good for me.
removing htclockscreen.apk and odex does bring up the android lockscreen however, the graphics are off, just like the hero was.
Well damn I've tried 3 different computers and I cannot get ADB to detect my phone correctly so that I can work around and delete the stuff. Is there a guide I can follow exactly to the tee for the Evo 4g
I saw a app on the market to remove the sense screen. Can't remember what its called tho.

You need this apk for google to sync calendar. Drop it in system/app with root explorer or using adb push.
One other minor issue I found or it may just be me.
When connecting via USB, I click connect, it says "connected" I then use the drop down menu to disconnect, and it still says connected. Only difference is that the android changes from green to orange.
It works fine and I am able to transfer to/from without problems.
Oh and thanks for the above .apk. I will give it a shot.

Hi Guys.
I have been reading on the forums how to make more room on the HD2, seen as mine is bugging me all the time that space is low. I have noticed that lots of people have said that Apps2sd only moves 90% of apps. I did come across this site
http://www.androidblog.it/site/2010...p2sd-con-tutte-le-applicazioni-semplice-tool/
which says that this patch will let you move ALL apps. So i risked it for a biscuit and installed it. It works fine and im glad to say that all those annoying apps that i could not move to SD i have been able to move. Im sorry if this has been found or covered before but coming from WM6.5+WP7 about 8 weeks ago and getting MASSIVELY addicted to Android, i found this really helpful.
P.S. I don't know if i posted this in the right thread so if any mod doesn't think so please move it.
Thanks Adam.
I hope it helps some of you guys out too!

so i ran it and selected number one.. after connecting it gave this message << *daemon started sucessfully * >> and it didnt do anything else.. i rebooted and it is still showing no other moveable apps to the sd card.. should i re-run the patch?
You have to run app2sd on your phone, its assuming you have it, if you do run it and you will see the apps you can move, if you dont have it, then you need to install it.
Kinda off-topic, but I use DarkTremor's A2SD script, and can run 99.9% of my apps from my 1gb ext4 partition. I have probly a couple hundred apps at least, and maybe 2 or 3 have to be on internal memory. I still have like 650 mb internal storage free and my phone runs smooth like a freshly installed rom with no apps installed. Wish I could drop a link to DT's A2SD thread, but I'm away from my computer right now sorry

Have you tried moving the apps anyway. I have found that when i go to APP2SD and select the "phone only" tab, the APPS i cant move are in the list but the move to SD tab is highlighted when i select them.

Being a noob I am not allowed to post on the development forums...........
last night I upped my Galaxy Tab (Thai ROM) to Gengerbread 2.3.6 and Acudroid V3 ICS Themed.
1st I would like to comment about the instructions and the process:
My Tab is an important work tool for me - and I was a bit worried about bricking it and taking days to recover... BUT - I followed the instructions of Acubens - and where pointed to teamovercome.net kept following their instructions to the letter, and happily after a couple of hours my Tab was running 2.3.3 with teamover's ROM and later 2.3.6 with the Acudroid V3 ROM.
Restoring apps + data was fast and easy using Titanium and very soon I had my phone up and running just like I want it
As far as I can tell so far - seems everything is working fine - phone calls, sms, camera, email, GPS, wifi, GPRS, sounds and notofocations. As I didn't see and speed improvement I downloaded and installed no-frills CPU and overclocked the CPU to 1.2GHz - and now the Tab is FLYING.......
Now that I've done the up and ROM change - I hope to see more new ROMs for the TAB

So far 2 small issues I came accross -
1. Some notification sounds are not right - i had chrome2phone app and instead of just a short bip like it used to be - it was a non stop bipping for about 15 minutes. I removed the app and try to re-install only I can install it now for some reson. I installed for now the "browser 2 droid" instead, but the notification sound is the same 15 minutes non stop bipping...
Don't get sound notifications for "what's up", and on Gtasks. Probably some other apps that I didn't notice so far.
2. On some of the menus the text under the icons is white over white so can't see it before actually pressing it...
as for battery life - seems a shorter than the stock ROM I used before, but that might be becuase I play with the phone a bit more now...

Hi,
To reduce the issues i only make wipe versions from now on, and nowipe will not be available. I know it is some work but see it this way i have a lot of work to make the rom available, so all i ask from you if you like to use the rom to make an backup and flash a wipe version and it is worth the trouble i think.
Cheers

Hi, i will look into the sound problem you have, maybe those apps uses the default sound scheme of gingerbread and i have change that, so can you tell which sound they use of the system? And can you not change the settings in that app to use other sounds?
Menu is fixed as you noticed already,
If i have an update for your sound issue i will let you know..
Cheers

there is no setting menus for those 2 apps so can't change anything. The chrome2phone was working fine on my original ROM (froyo)
isn`t there is Android 2.3.7 for the galaxy tab
can you use it in the next update?
but i think this is a great job you`ve done

I have looked into this and it seems to be made for Froyo and not for gingerbread so it is not supported when you using gingerbread, sorry
Cheers
Hi Acubens,
I notice that long press power button menu (aka Device Options) doesn't offer reboot options.
can you make that for us?
Thanks for the nice ROM.

Hi,
Sorry but no, i included a app called quickboot, this app shutdown or reboot your tab much faster, and you do not have to use a mechanical button that can be outworn if you use it much.
Cheers
Got it. Thanks anyway!

I looked for a solution and seems there is none... many users complain about the notification sound, some also mention it lasts forever (like mine...), but no 1 mention what version of Android they are using http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/issues/detail?id=239 . It worked fine on froyo - short sound and thats it. so probably some changes between froyo and GB cuases the problem. Only way to stop the sound is by forceclosing the app

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback on the issue you have, it will probably never work as it is made for froyo and not for gingerbread.
Cheers
WIFI
It seems I have a problem with the WIFI scanning. It only scans when I reconnect the WIFI. If I go out of the WIFI area the tab goes on EDGE as should be, but when coming into a WIFI area it wont show it nor connect to it unless I stop WIFI service and start again. Didn't have this problem on V3... Anyone else got this problem? any solution?

Hi,
Wifi scanning is set for 180 seconds to save battery, if you like to change that you can install rootexplorer and change settings in build.prop or delete the complete line and save it.
Cheers
Change the build.prop file

Changed it to 45 - hope it fixed the probel (will see next time I leave the office).
For the benefit of other noob's (it took me a while to find out how to do it...) here's how I managed the change step by step:
1. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Write / Run
2. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwrwrw
3. Used Astro to open the file (long press, select open as / text << select astro's text editor), located the line I wanted to change [wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180], changed the value, saved
4. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwr-r-
5. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Only / Run
6. Reboot system
Careful not to change something you are not sure about as you might brick the phone....
use ES File Explorer.
Just make sure you go to its setting, Root Option and enable its Root Explorer and Mount File System.
Then you can browse to "Favourite" and select the "/"
and go to systems and edit the build.prop using its own internal ES Edit note, and it even make a backup of the original file for you.
A lot less step than what you needed to do there.
