I'm in love with the phone, but the only thing it was missing that I needed was openvpn support. I rooted it and everything went smooth. I then tried using openvpn installer and it couldn't install the needed files. So I tried manually copying the needed files into the system folder. I did a reboot and it keeps getting stuck at the initial vibrant flash screen. I can get into the stock recovery, but there's not much I can do from there. Anyone have any ideas? Is there some way of reflashing the stock image to reverse whatever I did? Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am struggling with an issue that hit me today.
I am unable to use Rom Manager to install JT's bootanimation kernel. It downloads fine but upon reboot, the phone hangs forever at the SAMSUNG splash screen. I have updated to the new red CWM, and am wondering if that is not part of the problem, but regardless, I'd like to switch over to that kernel...
So - does anyone have a link they can provide? I would like to DL and install via CWM, but I am not familiar with where Rom Manager puts the files to try to get at them that way...
Any assistance in getting the file is greatly appreciated.

Have you already flashed the eb01 modem via odin?

Ok I'll do my best to describe where they are. Sd card/clockwork mod/downloads. Now from here I have some of jt's stuff in a couple of different places so u just have to open them up and look. But two of them I can remember of the top of my head are. deodexed.com and galaxysense.com. And sonofskywalker3 stuff is under androiddoes.net

designed for DL30, but I have used it on EB01. Use at your own risk. It has no support for startup sounds.
Is the one in rom manager meant for eb01? Trying to fing a non-voodoo kernel to always boot to red and don't want to do voodoo(yet).
try downloading it and not using rom manager to reboot the phone to recovery, use the power off screen to get there or do it manually. then in cwm navigate to the folder your downloads in.
Hey,
I was trying to load some gapps on my sprint htc hero (running AOSP rom) and It wouldn't work so i followed some instructions online and somehow my phone is bricked... I can go to clockwork but when i try to install a zip it goes all the way to installing package then it just goes back to the home screen of the recovery. There's no ROM running at all anymore because i tried formatting everything to start over but the same thing happened. Could someone plz help!!!
Thanks!

Ok...Your phone is not bricked because it is turning on. There are very few things that you can do to actually brick this phone. However before anyone can be of much assistance you are going to have to provide some more detailed information about your problem. I would also suggest that you check this thread that Il Duce posted in the Q&A section.

Lastly I'll assume that your bootloader is S-On which means if you do not have adb set up on your computer yet you should do so, because it sounds as if you MAY need it at some point.
have you tried flashing a rom? Iv had the same problem and figured that wiping everything, then flashing a new rom fixed it
Boom... Headshot! from my L96A1
Try reflashing your current recovery threw adb. Might help.

i agree with laie1472. reflash your recovery. it will give you a clean start. let us know how it goes.
ok so in more detail.... I turn on my phone and it just loads the HTC screen and goes on forever because there's no rom to load. So i can boot it into clockwork recovery, and when i get there i wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache partition, then i try to install zip from sdcard. I go to choose my zip and click yes and as the script is running across the screen it goes like this: Finding update package.... Opening update package... Installing update package... then it just goes back to the clockwork recovery screen (with the options like reboot system, apply sdcard:update.zip, etc.) sorry i don't know that much about this but i can learn fast.
Thanks!
Ok. So have you tried to reflash your recovery??? Try it threw adb. If you don't have adb setup check out the link hockeyfamily posted for duces thread. Once there look for my thread on how to install adb. It takes like 15 to 20 min tops. If you need help with the guide just post here or send me a pm. Hopefully this helps

Kind of where I was headed with the "setting up adb" part of my first answer.....but the op never stated how many different roms he tried or if he tried to restore a nand.

I tried using aosp rom and CM7. I can't load the other recovery because in your instructions it says I need easytether. I can't load a rom so i can't download that from the market.
You need "adb" which is installed on your pc, not on your phone.

ok... sorry really kinda new to this. But once i have adb installed on my pc where do i go
Hey all.
So, I'm running Audacity B2 on my G2, and I've attempted to load up this modified services.jar file here, using both methods. I'm technical myself, so I tried the manual way first. Followed the steps exactly, and when I rebooted, I never (well, at least not for about 10 minutes that I waited!) got past the flying blocks of color boot screen for Audacity. Seemed to be stuck.
So I tried the CWM zip install method as well, same result. /Sigh. I really didn't expect this to be where I got stuck! Anybody have any thoughts as to what possibly is going on?
The only way I can get back to a working phone is to re-flash Audacity B2, then it will boot. Really wanting to try out V6 Supercharger, but can't get past this first step, which should be the easy one.
Thanks for any insight.
I had this issue today too. I reflashed B2 and gapps, booted, set up google account and apps, flashed new services.jar and after that everything works.
Interesting! So by "flashed new services.jar", I take that to mean you used the zip install via recovery, not manually moving the file?
I'll give that a shot and see what happens....
Thanks!
If you manually move the file make sure you set the proper permissions and ownerships. Also make sure you check the MD5sum of each download with what the site reports.
Either of those may cause issues that will likely boot loop you.

So I had just gotten my Nexus 10 yesterday. Downloaded the root toolkit to root, and eventually install CM10.1 for it. However, after installing CM10.1, i realized I can make do with stock, for my own reasons. And so late last night(late enough that I should have been playing around with clockwork recovery), I somehow ended pressing format /system, thinking it was mount, as I was just playing around. Yes, I clicked yes, I had no idea what was going on. I have a nexus s, so I'm used to the recovery by now. So now I'm stuck, without any way to flash a new rom. I made a backup of my stock rom, but now I don't know how to get it back from my computer! I have no way to boot into adb, or atleast I can't figure out how. Any help is greatly appreciated.
TL;DR No rom to boot, can't access SDcard from computer to cop another one over, or restore an older back up.
Nevermind, I managed to get sideload working through adb. I was finally able to flash CM10.1 again.
Here is an instructional video that every Android user must watch:

im in recovery with sideload selected.
D:\S\Downloads\CWM-D802-Recovery-Unofficial.zip is the location of the file and obvs the file I want to side load.
What do I need to type into adb on my laptop to get it to push the app across so I can install it?
I have the official CWM and it doesn't support usb storage - the slimkat file I downloaded was corrupt and I have downloaded another copy but cannot get it to my device... im now stuck in bootloop until it goes back to CWM itself.
I would really really appreciate if someone can help with getting the file onto the phone without having to waste another 2 hrs downloading the 2gb file needed to factory restore back to stock. and then going through the rooting process again etc
cheers brett
I know its a quick bump but I really wanna get my phone turned back on.
