Free Samsung Galaxy S to frustrated Iphone4 Customers...its true FREE - Galaxy S I9000 General

There is no doubt Samsung Galaxy S is one of the most threatening competitors against the iPhone 4. It seems Samsung won’t stop with the nagging ads, but will step even further – give away a free Galaxy S to unsatisfied iPhone 4 users. Beat that, Apple!
Samsung UK offered free Galaxy S to a few angry iPhone 4 users on Twitter. Those people posted some complaints about the reception issues and later received a message to send their details and receive a free Galaxy S. This comes directly from the official Samsung UK Twitter account. Nice, eh?
I got my iPhone 4 a few hours ago and the first call I made dropped due to my natural handgrip. I’m certainly not surprised but really – the first one?! And it happened in an area with some perfect network coverage. A further inspection on the “death spot” shows all bars dropped to one, just by touching it on that special spot.

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/samsung-gives-away-free-galaxy-s-to-iphone-4-complainers-50000059/
So if anybody tells you there are no reception issues, take it with a pinch of salt. And if Samsung wants to give you a Galaxy S because of your iPhone 4 problems – take it too and spread the word about it. I know I would.

well i'm sure the catch is to RETURN their "defective" iphone4 back to them, for them to receive the "Free" SGS i9000

You might want to consider carrying a spare battery if you're a real heavy user like me. As to switching off the data over 3G, You might want to try out SwitchPro. It's only a dollar.
Edit : sorry reply to the wrong thread. Ignore this.

Haha, I'll be please to give them my SGS if they give me their iPhone 4. . Big difference in cost. Althouh, seriously, I want both of them as they're both very good phones.

Mate my bro gt iphone 4g and my galaxy s beats the s*** outta it and he regretfully admits it too mwahahaha

If they're giving it free to disasatifield iPhone 4 users, hen I'm one of the dissatisfied one.
Oops I haven't got my iPhone 4 yet, but I will be and I will be dissatisfied. . I'm happy to be bribed.
Welcome to modern age marketing.

Funny how all of the people who have been given the free phone are all known tech bloggers, and not average customers.

Unintentional awesome:
I was just trying out google voice search for the first time. It all worked flawlessly, even with my aussie accent, except for one longer search.
I said: "Samsung Galaxy S Froyo Firmware Update"
It searched: "samsung galaxy s free iphone update"
Does it automatically look for popular searches or something if it's a bit confused?!

it may since its interpreted by google's server

Why doesn't T-mobile ever step up.....

On things like this to offer their customers.......WTF???
http://phandroid.com/2010/09/03/sprint-to-get-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-this-november/
Even if Sprint does NOT get it why doesn't Tmo say "hey we'll take it!!"
When it comes to agreements between 2 or more business goliaths, I don't think its as simple as we'll take it. Lots of legal matters to get sorted out. Just look at all the drama it took to get the iPhone on AT&T to start with. They battled over details for awhile and still had issues after the release. Don't even wanna go into foreget tablets. Can we at least get a good list of smartphones on T-Mobile? One great phone and one very respectable phone (see Vibrant then MyTouch Slide) does not make for good choices when time to upgrade.
I was extremely excited about this Galaxy Tab, but in reality, the price is kind of a dealbreaker, and as far as I can tell, there is no wi-fi only version. I am not paying for another device on the network.
But as far as why T-mobile doesn't step up: it is just like mmalott says. Contracts have so many intricacies, so many things that have to get ironed out.
But for what it's worth, you don't know that they won't make it available for T-mobile yet. Maybe Samsung will go to all 4 carriers with it, you never know. We'll have to wait and see.

The price is way to high for what is. For that price I can get a small fully functioning laptop that folds into a touch tablet.

I'm happy that T-Mo is not trying to get all these first-gen experimental devices but focusing on the few solid and core devices along with providing great services.
This is what a normal consumer really needs.

that. plus there's the fcc approvals needed for each band/network it supports.
I've seen websites saying Verizon is getting it to, it's not unlikely that they are just releasing on all the carriers like they have with the Galaxy S series. They aren't even out of here yet are they? Didn't this happen before with the Galaxy S series, one company said we are getting it then the others followed?

My man/girl where on earth did you get the notion that I was Sprint fan? I have been with Tmo for 7+ years and would not even think about switching services!!! My original point being is why doesn't Tmo "make a play" for things such as the Tablet or even a good , better, best smartphone, even if we do not get them?
Granted given the response by "mmalot" looking at it that way I completely see why Tmo has taken the path it has.
I am happy with Tmo no doubt but I just wish their aggressiveness would equate to a better selection of phone choices, granted the Vibrant which I love is no slouch even with it shortcomings is still a great phone in its own rights.
Regarding a phone such as the G2 which has not come out yet I am sure it will be a worthy opponent I am NOT bashing Tmo I am suggesting that they become slightly more aggressive.
Make sure you have a valid point or even comprehend the statement that is in front of you before you go "bumping your gums" and comment such as you have done.
And in closing I do not have a problem with Tmo as I stated have been a loyal customer for 7+ years (when they were voicestream wireless)and will remain a customer but I like everyone else am entitled to their opinion and I will exercise it at will "heygrl", so please do not try and come at me like I am coming from left field, it was a "freedom of speech" moment.
I do know that a lot of the times the carriers have to bid on the phones/devices that they get. Depending on the manufacturer/device. Would you rather have a g2, mytouch hd, and possibly 2-3 other big devices by the end of the year, or would you rather have a galaxy S that is a little bit larger, without the Super amoled? Do remember that T-Mobile is dropping a ton of funds on rocking out the HSPA+ across the country super fast, and they're the 4th largest carrier. They have to choose a lot more carefully about where to invest then the others.
If someone has a vibrant now, the g2 wil be irrelevant by the time they have to upgrade again. Should not be releasing phones so fast, imo.
Also I may etf my contact and move off android because the fragmentation and slow updates/buggy devices are unbearable.
Almost regret not staying on at&t and getting am iphone. This is ridiculous.

If you like locked down fancy looking feature phones and a barely working network then ATT is for you, and they'll gladly take your money, enjoy you iPhone 4, we don't care, it's your money
At the end of the day the real reason we're all with tmobile (don't lie) is because of their great plans/ pricing and awesome customer service. If that wasn't the case we'd be all on verizon. I think their approach with the vibrant/g2/faster network this year will play out very well for them.
I hate when people get offended if you tell your opinion about a company. Heygrl the way you reacted on the last page was childish. Grow up, I dont understand why people pledge loyalty to a company then act like blinded fanboys if you tell the truth about them.
T-Mobile obviously needs to step up. Whether they get this tablet or not isn't a dealbreaker for me. Especially if there is no wifi only version. However they need more phones, more high end state of the art phones. Verizon and Sprint are rumored to release 1.5 Ghz phones this year, they are not slouching. The G2's hardware will be completely obsolete by 2011, it will be a new generation of hardware. People seem to think this phone is the best ever because of HSPA+. What happens when you never reach those plateaus of speed and the first dual-core devices drop this year? Gonna feel buyers remorse huh.
It's also rumored that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S2 phone with a 2Ghz processor, 4gb of rom, 1gb ram, super amoled2 and 340ppi. Now THAT'S a revolution, but you ignorant fanboys would never see that because your devoted loyalty to a company makes you think the G2 will be the best phone ever. Such a joke...
HTC has a conference in a week or so, you think their best announcement will be the G2? Come on now. They are working on 1.5-2ghz phones, new battery and screen tech, and dual core devices.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Even though I don't always agree with Tmobile's business sense I do like their more conservative nature. I don't need 3-5 phones with 2ghz cpus and the latest greatest iPhone at the cost dealing with the stereotypical corporate giant. All I ask for is at least 1 -2 comparable smartphones (MyTouch Slide & Vibrant delivered beautifully), good customer service, and keep your hands out of my pockets. I think T-Mobile has done an outstanding job at doing this. Dealing with Tmo has been a personal experience as compared to dealing with AT&T which was the usual your-the-little-guy thing.
Tmo has left me in wonder plenty of times. Where I live just got 3g but they were trying to sell me a 3G phone prior to that? Why are you guys selling the MyTouch Slide for only $20 less then the Vibrant? Am I missing something there? You guys are rolling out 4G!? But... there's plenty of places that don't even have coverage, EDGE, or 3G yet? Just some of the things that make me scratch my head sometimes but in the end, AT&T and Verizon don't leave me with the satisfaction that T-Mobile does.
Personally I don't want or need 20 smartphones to choose from. Too many problems for the network, the consumer, and the manufactures which will leave more often then not unhappy under the quantity over quality method of thinking.
At the end of the day its your choice based on your experiences and opinion. And this is a forum where people voice experiences and opinion. Just wish people could be more civilized about it so that others can hear/read them without the annoying gibberish.
I guess the real reason that people are so upset with T-mobile is because T-mobile was the first with an android phone and the first with the Google Nexus One phone, and they have lost that crown.
After Sprint got the HTC Hero, T-mobile wasn't the only android carrier anymore, and when Verizon got the Droid, they decided to buy up 95% of the high-end android smart-phones for the next 1.5 years.
AT&T rode iPhone popularity to the top. T-mobile failed to do this with Android. Looking at Android growth & popularity, locking up a few high end exclusives over the next 2-3 years could have propelled T-mobile into 3rd place in terms of subscribers. If I were to guess, then I would say that this is the reason why the CEO got the boot.
T-mobile is not doing that bad...what they aren't doing is beating out the competition with any of their handsets. Everything they release is done bigger or better by another carrier.
Its not as exciting as a 4G release, or a heavily marketed branded line of android phones like Verizon does... but clear away the smoke and mirrors and you'll have to admit that T-mobile is probably tied for 2nd at best (with Sprint), or at worst 3rd overall on android handsets.
The only thing they are missing is a 4.3" high end device to be the definitive 2nd place android carrier.
As for being #1... it won't ever happen. Verizon has 3x the subscribers and charges 20% more for service. They have the cash to burn to stay on top in terms of handset selection.... which they pretty much have to because iPhone lovers will never leave AT&T until the handset is available elsewhere

Sprint to buy 20$ BILLION worth of iPhone in next 4 years!!!

Just read an article online & it said sprint takes big risks to buy 20 billion worth of iPhone in next 4 years but that they are going to get the iPhone 5 while At&t & Verizon get iPhone 4s then I think they get the 5 early 2012!! I think Sprint crazy to put up that much they should of did maybe 10&?$billion & use the other 10billion to build out there 4g lte to get it out to people faster!!! What you guys think

Oh dude, people will be so pissed if this is true... most people in my area hate sprint because of how crappy the service is while I cling tightly to my unlimited data despite its constant slowness.
It makes sense as to why sprint would do this and I do see this bringing in a good rush of customers, but to bank so much money on exclusivity for a few months seems like a gamble to me.
Time will tell though, its not like we have to wait that long to find out...

I looked online read & posted about it I think sprint should of not spent that much if apple didn't want to give them the iPhone 5 then sprint should of told them f u & spend there $ on building out there 4g LTE & Try & get the Nexus Prime as early as they could & then tell Samsung that when they make the new Galaxy S3 instead of having the. U.S.A get the phone last like we did the S2 Epic Touch . Sprint pays a little more to get it first!

not like theyre giving the money away, they going to sell the phone and make a profit/add customers with this... as we've seen iphones sell... sprint wants more things that sell to make more money...
I think this would be good, in coming customers who wish to have an iphone with a network you don't have to worry about usage, whih is what a lot of new apple users are looking for. Ease of use and no issues, well I don't necessarily agree with that. but being how well apple helped verizon I think it could actually help sprint add to their network and net worth.

Hopefully, Sprint gets an exclusive on a Wimax-enabled iPhone 5 starting this month while the other carriers have to wait for an LTE-enabled iPhone 5 in early 2012.
This is great for Apple, but not so much for Sprint. Apparently they haven't seen how Android sales numbers are trending against Apple. $20BB is a lot to gamble on another company -- especially when you are hoping that every future phone the make will continue to be a hit, even with their decreasing market share.... Kinda late to be a fanboy, but oh well.
If this is true. Then many will jump to Sprint. Will the network handle it?!?

Missing Market
Android phones are better in my option; however, there is a large number of people that need a Fisher-Price type phone. These people cannot be allowed to have unlimited options. They are people that cannot understand words like; root, rom or even kernel when applied to a cell phone. For this demographic Apple creates the best "Fisher-Price" phone. Sheepeople are told this is the way your phone works, these are your only apps and you will be happy.
Sprint should be able to greatly increase its customers with the addition of this "phone." The only downside is when you are trying to contact customer service about a real issue; you will have to wait on hold while someone is told "open the box. The box your phone came in. The black and yellow box with Sprint and iPhone on it. You have to take the phone out of the box to make a call......"

The way people use data on their iPhones, we're bound to be heading for tiered data plans. Seriously though Sprint with so many other places to stuff your money you choose apple? Why not invest in your ever so slow network. Especially since they aren't going to see a profit from doing this until 2013.(no exaggeration)

As an irrelevant side note, pandora only uses about 30-45mb an hour to run. You could run pandora 24x7 for a week before you hit a 5gb cap.
perhaps I'm missing something, but this seems like an awful big gamble to stake on what, for all intents and purposes, has been revealed to be a 16-month old phone brought to a new carrier. I don't see enough differentiation between the 4 and the 4s to warrant the size of this investment. So, either Sprint's banking solely on the name recognition of iPhone or they anticipate a superior device being delivered sooner rather than later.
Great idea. Invest billions in the next greatest thing to hit the market. Oh wait....the iPhone has been around for years and is losing marketshare at a rapid pace and is in litigation wars with just about every other phone manufacturer. Hitching your cart to the wrong horse in my opinion.
Anyone who wants an iPhone already has one. I doubt there are that many people dying to jump on Sprint with the lack of iPhone being the only thing holding them back.
Wow... Sprint is just fail..
WTF did they do with all that money? It is not even exclusive.
What's going on????????
I was lil bit hyped possibility of owning new iPhone exclusively (note: for resell)..
Hmm... fail Sprint... fail...
p.s. also sprint was mentioned for like 2 seconds during apple presentation.

Galaxy Note doing well in the US?

The Galaxy Note was launched on AT&T yesterday and I am curious how well it is being received in the US.
Samsung is obviously promoting it heavily but I didn't like their Superbowl ad which I think subsituted noise for cleverness. My sense is it was received quite poorly so it seems like a real missed opportunity. A clever, funny Superbowl ad could really have ignited sales especially since few gadgets of note are being released around now. I actually think Samsung's regular Note ads which are being used around the world are better so I hope they start using those or similar ads in the US also.
I am also getting the sense that the Note is getting mixed reviews in the US, a few negative ones no doubt coming from the numerous Apple fanboys in the tech media.
The overall impression I am getting from afar is that the Note may not be having the best of starts in the US. I hope I am wrong about this . Any US posters want to comment on how the Note is doing, both in terms of their personal experience and what they have heard ?
There's a lot of Apple fanboys in the US, broh.
I had an iPhone and I truly don't see the infatuation with it. Yes its a solid phone but not the be all end all people make it. I like tech in general and for me android is way better and I would pay double for a note over an iPhone 4s. Apple fan boys truly have a medical condition

Everywhere I go w/ my Note I get stopped asking how to get one, and some of them complain their iPhones don't have Super AMOLED.

Samsung Promotion - Swap your I9100 for a...

Hi all!
Well, the time has come to move on to the next toy to play with
By pure chance my contract is up for renewal just as Samsung are doing they're nice little swap promotion.
Probably going to pick up a HTC One... although with all the delays with O2, I might get a sneak peak at the s4 stats and change my mind
Just wanted to let you all know, I was worried about the firmware/ROM when sending it off so I gave Samsung promotions a call.
They couldn't care less what its running as long as it is running and in good nick
Also, it states in the t&c's all parts returned have to be original, so confirmed will take my 2000mah original battery too! (thank god, can't find my old one...)
So now I'm just waiting for my white envelope, can't wait to play with my new Samsung smart camera £199.00 strait swap!
oh, and if you send off for it, their email response isn't working so don't freak out you didn't get one (like I did lol)
Is been a pleasure to be part of the s2 community ! And there are a lot of faces I'm going to miss, Conantroutman has helped me more than any one could want for, thanks again m8.

Actually, its not about the life quality, its about your budget. As an ordinary employee, your salary wont be enough to follow the tech-toys, you know. And the biggest issue on this topic, as our mate here mentioned, is the taxes! Since importing of such devices takes a very big slice of annual Import digits, the government applies high rate of taxes on cell phones. And also the growing appetite to new devices of people here, makes phone dealers and distributors more "Greedy", hungry for much more profits than any other country. So, this is it, a brand new S3 and S2 has almost the same price.

You have to first purchase a new Galaxy S III, Note II or S III mini, then trade in your old Galaxy S2 for a discount on a few selected products.
Best for me seems to be the Galaxy Tab 2 7" which is available for nothing when you send Samsung your old Galaxy S2.

Also I think Samsung put all the marketing into the note 4 and s5 because they know those phones would sell to the public a lot better.
Ya, I agree with above. This phone is in the consumer market with more iterations to come. I would say this device is WAY past the prototype stage now.
When samsung first showed off their Youm display with both rounded edges couple of years ago, now that's prototype.

You can already see that at CES 2013 2 years ago Samsung pretty much had a working Note Edge prototype already and not much has changed since then and you can directly see the design in the current note edge.
But yes, innovation unfortunately costs extra and some of it will go towards funding the next big thing as well so I think the price is more than justified.
Hardly anyone who sees my Edge has ever heard of it...and every one has said they want one afterwards.
My daughters friends went nuts over mine when the saw it and I said maybe 5 years from now apple will catch up and do the same
