I tried to compare my hd2 with my friend's one and...
my phone has less brightness than the other phone with the very same config: same rom, same apps, same pictures, ecc...
my screen is a little bit more "yellow" than the other one. it is noticeable particularly in white images: the colour of my hd2 is warm. the hd2 of my friend has cold color.
the question is: it's a normal thing in lcd production or should i contact assistance?
thank you.
Did you make sure the screen brightness settings were the same ?
settings/sound and display/backlight/backlight adjustment.
Perhaps one of you hasn't got 'Automatically adjust backlight' ticked ??
Hi bro..
surely i set both phones at 100% brightness "fix"

contact whoever you can contact, and try to get a replacement if your warranty is still valid.
thank you for the advise my friend!
HTC might have changed the producer for their screens during the whole time they build the HD2. This would not be unusual as many developers do this...

Guys,
I have 2 HTC HD2 phones. Both are running the same ROM (Energy Dink Glass), the same settings and apps. Everything from the first phone is cloned on the second one down to the smallest thing. In fact even when I bought them they had the same official 1.66... ROM and were from same batch according to production time and etc.
Despite that I am noticing a big difference in the display colors (regardless of which ROM they are working on). One of them is much more vibrant and its display gamma is much more colorful and appealing. Has anyone noticed anything similar? Why is this so and can it be changed (controlled).
If it was possible to increase the contrast or the gamma or the colors like one would do this on his home TV (or a pc) I was going to change the colors of the second phone too.
But I guess a software is needed to do this? Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to manipulate the display general properties?
Suddenly the screen of my "samsung galaxy's" seens to lost resolution, looks blurred and weak colors.
It looks like when changing the resolution of a monitor to display fewer colors.
Please can any good soul help me?
completing information
I also noticed that the button used to end the call, it seems
orange and not red as it should.
I restored the settings but not solved the problem. I'll try to flash the rom again to see if it works, but seems to be a hardware problem that appeared out of nowhere

That do not sound so good. Looks like a hardware failure to me. Do you have the screen on full brightness all the time? Perhaps you could try changing display density in build.prop and reboot. How long do you have your sgs?

Galaxy S screen problem fault
I am having the same problem. Vodafone Australia stock.
The screen has lost its clarity.
Actually, it appears as though every 2nd horizontal line has been lost - this is quite evident when you scroll through a list that has dividing lines (Eg. Scroll through settings - the separator lines alternate visibly as you scroll).
I've had the i9000 for just under 4 weeks and this fault occurred without any reason (not dropped, no water damage, not exposed to heat, etc). The phone was fine one minute and then the next, it became blurry.
The colours all look flat, the background is no longer crisp black, it is light black/grey as if the LCD that had its brightness settings turned up too high.
Also, tried upgrading Android to 2.2 (from 2.1) and that didn't help. This fault appears to be a hardware fault - you can see the loss of resolution when the Galaxy S logo appears when you first turn the phone on (before Android boots). Look at any curved text/lines and you will see that it appears with jagged lines.
Don't waste your time doing the factory reset, upgrades, etc... It is a hardware fault. I spent a bit of time running the screen through the LCD tests " *#*#0*#*#* " and downloading DPI checkers, etc.. The LCD test shows the solid Red, Green and Blue are ok, as was the dimming test.
The image looks grainy as if it was displayed in the wrong or low resolution. It looks like an old school CRT screen at VGA resolution - almost pixelated.
I have installed the Aries bootloader and the small font text displayed also looks grainy and very hard to read.
Have a look at the two images I've attached.
Real shame, I was starting to get attached to this phone.

First step would be to backup and do a factory reset for any major problem .

I already tried that and it did not help.

Don't waste your time. If you got warranty, you are going to get a new Screen or perhaps a new phone. Go for it.

Did you changed kernel? which kernel are you on?
I had a similar experience (not so bad) when trying some kernel with sharpness and color fixes.
You could try flashing hardcore's speedmod k13c Kernel, it also has some sharpness and color fixes but his work very good.
i don't have thi problem
I have the same problem, just purchased a i9000 four days ago, and it fail after 30 minutes of use .
It si very strange, because if i zoom a image, it will also enlarge the banding gradients (like if the image was low quality)
THe problem only appears wirh dark colors, strong colores dont have any problems.
this sounds like a display problem

Hi all,
I dropped my phone yesterday, oops! Its all working fine apart from the screen. There is a problem with the blue colour.
I'm using Android from the SD card, and from using any program where you can change the colour of an item, I can tell the blue colour is screwed up. There are 3 sliders, RGB to change the colour. With R and G at 0, sliding the blue scale should go from black to full bright blue. It kind of does this but its appears near full bright blue half way, then drops back to black just after half way and goes back up to bright blue at full scale again. Very weird.
Anyone heard of this before? Any suggestions to fix? Its all working absolutely fine apart from this blue colour wierdness.
Thanks for any help.
thats no problem it aint serious actualy its no problem at all...ur hd2 is fine
Err...nope there is definately a problem, its not fine. All the colours are wrong due to the blue component in them being incorrect I think. I have quite a few blue wallpapers, and basically wherever there is supposed to be light blue, its completely wrong. It looks awful, not just those wallpapers but everything is slightly the wrong colour.

Sounds like your HD2 is having a hardware iue due to what is called mechanical shock (being dropped). You should send it in for warranty repair or replacement if it is still under warranty.
What could actually be wrong with the phone, that I could replace to fix it, any idea?
Anyone know how long the warrranty is for O2 uk? I bought the phone Dec 09 I think when they first came out.

You might want to let someone else post to make sure. But I have read several times here I the HD2 forums that O2 gives you a two year warranty were as my provider T-Mobile only gives us a one year warranty.
Hello everyone,
I would like who claims to have a perfect display (as well as all the others) to Try this test:
- Completely dark room and eyes accustomed to the darkness for a few minutes
- Completely black screen (like the one in the test screen by typing * # * # 0, but also any settings menu screen that has not written)
- Minimum brightness (but can be seen even at maximum brightness).
If there are, you should see black spots darker than the background black.
I have them and at night are quite annoying.
I need to figure out if it is a problem of all devices or only of some (in this case tomorrow i will apply for replacement).
Please, you who are reading now, don't leave without doing this little test, it only takes 5 minutes
Thanks: D
Are you nuts? While this may be new to you, there's a 200+ thread already going on this that was started in May. We don't need another 200 pages of "yes it is," "no it isn't." The short answer is yes, there's banding on the 1/4 left side of the display but for most people it can only be seen in a dark room, at 10% brightness, on a grey background, and by taking a pic of the phone. It's been that way since the phone launched and at this point choices are: 1) live with it, 2) return or sell the phone.

Apparently some don't have this issue, as you can see in the first listed thread. Difficult to confirm or not of course, I know mine does have smears/smudges/lines and no it is not grease.
@Barry don't think he is talking about the yellowish tint.
You read this on another thread and started a new one?
I saw the exact same thing on a post yesterday..

Dude, If I may :
before asking us to show the perfect screen (which does not exist actually), please consults an eye specialist and then, come back to XDA.
Regards.

If you can ever see what you describe under normal use then it is a problem. If you can't see it under normal conditions then you are simply looking for problems and it's nothing to worry about. It's just what SAMOLED screens look like when they're "off", but not off.
I see this every day when I go to bed as my phone is also used as a night clock.
I have the font set to a very low brightness font, except for me I see lighter splotches on an otherwise black background.
I went through 4 SGS2's trying to find one that didn't have it. They all did. Bad batch I guess.
It wasn't a major deal for me so I just live with it.
It's a shame but meh. otherwise this phone is fantastic.

Don't use the phone display for a day and it should retain its original state. Also try to leave it in a moderate temperature during that time (20-30 degrees tops on celsius).
Mine does that on long gps journeys and retains full restoration as 5-6 hours of powered off.
Screen retention(ghosting or whatever....) is common lcd issue that emerge itself even more on higher temperatures. Just keep your phone (back and front) as cool as possible. Don't leave it for longer times on high brightness setting and be as less static as possible on the display images (this means to not keep the display on on a static image for long time) - this is valid for every lcd(TFT) device.
