how to put evo cell on htc - HD2 General

hi all i watch the vid on youtube 2 put evo on my hd2 but its left at 0% download please help this noob thx u all

good thing its stuck at zero percent or you would have killed it. dont try it again.

dont always trust youtube. Read here first on how to do things and use YouTube to help with a visual if your still having issues on accomplishing what you want. Typically if you cant find your answer here your not going to find it or its not real.
Important:
Dont take my post as a flame as it is not ment to be im just making a statement of my own opinion.

Its fake just like the droid installer.

Kids!! Don't try this at home!!

????videos of how to!!!!

I know this website is really help and helps so much. But i was thinking if people can make or direct people to videos shows people step-by-step how to do things to there phone. i feel it will help alot. The text information that evryone gives is great but video can help alot.
and if it not really possible if you can takr pics or screen shots of the step-by-step directions that will also help.
what do you guys think??
If you have videos send us the link and describe whats is it about..
That is about the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Video howto's are fine for teaching people how to nail boards together to build a deck, but you suggest video howtos for how to use a COMPUTER... which is naturally TEXT/DIGIT based. Quite frankly, if you can't understand concise text instructions, then watching some retard who video'd himself pushing buttons is DEFINITELY going to make things MUCH WORSE.
I dont think its a dumb idea... i understand all the instructions i see on xda developers, but i am not new to computers so i wouldnt NEED a video but even i have watched some videos that have helped me out a great deal, and understand what im doing because the person shooting the video explains whats going on. Trouble is, who will have the time to do a video for each and every little tweak or adb push or rom flash etc...
bboy_201 you might see this happen through tmobile first before xda developers.... maybe google....

In some fairness if you're new to computers or aren't comfortable enough to be reading and using text based instructions, you probably shouldn't be flashing your phone or modding in the manner that is done here.

True. But from my own experience i learned computers by doing this kind of stuff right off the bat.. trial and error... so now its nothing to me really.
If you are BRAND NEW to computers and you dont understand basic commands, i believe video tutorials and basic reading would be good

Not everyone in your I.U. 20 class was able to learn by reading, some had to watch others or attempt themselves. A lot of them did manage to remove the stick, though.
If you want video how to's there are many out on the internet. Google it. But in my experience everyone that I have known that has tried to follow a video walk through has just made things worse. I have fixed many phone and even worse(bricked) because someone was following a video walk through. Just take the time to read the information and it will be a lot easier on you. One you have everything right there for your but the most important part is that you will learn more about what you are doing and hopefully get an understanding so that if something goes wrong you can fix it.
Just search youtube. How to root G1 Simple as that.
i gotta agree that videos of how to do most of this is a bad idea, most of the reason to root your phone or do any modding to it is so that we can find the full potential of the device, if you make videos then any idiot can do it and they will come here looking for help when they "brick" their phone. and rather than being a good forum poster they will not search and will start posting multiple threads all over asking for help because someone helped them the first time. if we make everyone read the instructions then in theory they will actually LEARN something and won't need to be spoonfed simple instructions such as rebooting/iping/reflashing/pulling the battery.
VIDEO WALKTHROUGHS ARE A BAD IDEA if you cannot read how to do it you shouldn't do it, if you do not know how to undo it you shouldn't do it either
Instead of videos, I believe text + pictures (screenshots) would be a better option. Because some people have annoying voices. lol.

LMFAO!!!!!!!
just read the text, they're all here.. thats how i learned(nd most people) plus all my exprience with computers, which i read everything myself. not to be rude, dont be lazy and read man.
oh i never finished school HAHA, juvey most of the time(its not something to laugh about, if i can change the past i would)
wow some people gotta take it easy....
people learn differently and i was just suggesting that more than one way of showing how to do things would help out.

I agree 100 man...
coolptut's youtube videos of how to root my phone where the most helpfull to me. there is a part one and part two. but then again I think they were more helpfull than here only because it said to copy/past the text to type into terminal emulator into notepad first so it was easier to see the spaces and such. I tried a few times before following the xda thread but kept making typos I guess becuase it never worked.

SORRY IF IT'S NOOB/Or has been asked

Ok so i'm new to this whole Android thing and gotta give MEGA props to Origins81 and Amon_Ra who took time outta their days to help me when I was in panic mode (trust me things were thrown lol).Ok so Already bricked one Magic got my replacement (followed Origins81 and Amon_Ra's amazing step by steps) from rogers flashed the Myhero 1.1.1 rom and now i got one last question. How do you stop the phone from charging when connected to the computer. When i was with the htc diamond you could select not to charge when connected, but I just cant figure it out for this device...Doesnt the constant charging mess with the battery? I mean I got two coming in that I ordered from ebay but that aint the point..Again sorry if this has been asked or if it's real "Noob" of me..
There is no way to stop it that I know of and dont post threads with the topic, "SORRY IF IT'S NOOB/Or has been asked" because it gives away how noob you really are and doesnt actually help anyone answer your question. Imagine if every question had a topic like that.....

help with android/rom?

hey guys, i think i am trying to to install a new rom. what i am trying to do is dual boot wm 6.5 and android, if thats possible, i have tried searching for stuff, but i get not enough info in some places, and too much in others, here are some links to stuff i have found so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733752&highlight=registry+editor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614&highlight=android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7088391&postcount=4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
can anyone help me out with this? its a lot of info for me, and i dont know what to do/ look at
i have read all the newbie and noob posts out there, so dont tell me to go read them
id like someone to tell me exactly what to download and how to run it to effectivly get android running on my device, dual boot if possible, id like to keep wm 6.5 but also have android. id also like to have a back up rom that is completly "stock" unless a hard reset will erase everything and put it back to "stock" incase i need to sell the device, or just go back.
im sure i am missing a few things, so any help would be greatly appreciated, i really need to get this done, because as of right now, i am not to happy with my device with just wm 6.5 and i cant afford to take a loss and sell it back...
i also may be wrong with some of my terminology, so what i understand is with dual booting i can run wm 6.5 just like i have now and use CHT and stuff, or i can run an android UI like the real android devices?
like i said, any help would be greatly appreciated, and i really need to get this accomplished,
thanks,
PBLeonidus
come on, now one knows how to get android running on their device?
please, i need help with this!
also, how or where can i get a registry editor? preferably a .cab file?
dont worry i got it working. thanks for all the help from those that posted! (obviously being sarcastic as no one posted anything)
if any one wants to know, i used max energy Co0kie Energy ROM

So you're bothered by the fact we didn't give you the answers quick enough, to something that you obviously had the ability to work out on your own? That points to the fact you didn't do enough to help yourself, before posting your question...something the rules here specifically address.

i did several hours of searching before i posted this, and after a lot of dead ends and frustration, i posted the question, but i continued to search after i posted, which led me to my answer.
and i dont think you guys get paid anything, i just would have expected at least one person to post something, helpfull or not, i just found it weird that no one said anything, not even "i am interested in this as well" or something like "good luck" that i see in other posts....
There's nothing weird you just don't have enough patience to wait for replies. Anyways, good to see that you actually utilized the search function. There's a dedicated android on hd2 forum here on xda. You should have posted your question there.

We dont. It was sarcasm. Hes saying hes not getting paid to help you, so dont get upset when you dont get an answer... This is the internet. Dont expect things from anyone. Just relax and wait. Sometimes, depending on the question, it can take days, weeks to get an answer. If you need people to hold your hand and wish you luck, try the Disney forum.

i didnt expect anyone to hold my hand or give me an answer, i just would have thought some one would have something about something, like i said before, a lot of times people say good luck, or id be intersted in this too... i found it weird that no one said anything. i know you guys are mad because you couldnt understand my sarcasm, and that i was able to figure it out for myself. how come when i needed help no one said anything, but now that i have it figured out, you guys rant about me wanting everything handed to me, when thats not the case?
mods, please close thread, i got the problem fixed, and there is no need for this thread anymore...

and i didnt mean anything negative by this, i wasnt mad at anyone, i was just trying to be a little funny by throwing some sarcasm in there...
i am terribly sorry that you guys have no sense of humor and couldnt understand that... i though forums where supposed to be friendly, and people were supposed to be able to say funny and or sarcastic things without somone jumping on their back...
once again, please close thread.
it's all good in here man. We all just get a little bit of newbieitis where the only cure is to lash out at the newbs.
There is a lot to learn on this forum and by the time you learn it all, your device is out of date.
It seems you wanted to figure it all out in a night. Been using WinMo for about 2-3years now and I still don't have a clue most of the time.
pbleonidus, if that comment was just tongue-in-cheek, then it's all good, no harm no foul. Those types of comments are near-impossible to tell the difference between light-hearted and just disrespectful....and believe me, we get FAR more of the latter type in here...and that does tend to strike a bit of a raw nerve with those here who go to a lot of effort to help others.
So, a lesson in this for all of us: you're apparently not the type of snarky jerk that we run across so often, and we're not always able to generate answers as quickly as you might expect. Cool? Cool.
I'll get this thread closed for you.

embarrassed to be a hd2 owner!

I am so embarrassed to be a HD2 owner nowadays, all i see on this site and other site's is people invading threads asking how to "flash" this on there HD2 and when will this be available for there HD2's.
Why cant everyone read all the information available and if they cant understand what to do, read it again as every question that somebody could think of in reguards to there HD2 and ANDROID has been asked and answered many many times and when i see how stupid and lazy loads of yous are i feel shamed like ive never felt before!
to top it off ive just seen a thread about a guy who has named therefore blamed a chef for what he believed bricked his phone yet it states everywhere do not try as its for DEVELOPERS ONLY!
please please you silly people get a grip and read the infomation given and watch the youtube videos and if thats not enough use the HD2 Linux/Android Q&A Thread - ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!! thread here

If you care so much about useless posts, then why make one yourself? All you can do to combat useless/redundant/rude posts is to hit the little report button and wait for mods. Your little rant isn't going to do anything to stop this. It doesn't just happen with HD2 users, it is human nature to be lazy and look for the easiest solution.
I completely understand your sentiment but honestly who is going to listen to you?

Cool Story bro.
Welcome to internet forums.
Any forum I'm a member of has lazy people who post some simpleton question when their answer is either in a sticky or in another post on the same exact page.
stupidity and laziness is a disease! Its mother natures way of fighting back. I guess she figures we will kill ourselves off.
Kinda like the lady who got hit by a car for following gps directions.
As quoted from c-net "Why trust the machines when you can trust your own eyes, your own brain, your own basic sense of survival"?
Most people seem to lack common sense. Even my own brother lacks common sense.
I laid out the tutorial i found on youtube to do a cogswap on his ps2.
It had everything he could possibly need. I even watched the video 2 or 3 times.
His first question? Where do i get the files he says!
I started to wonder if we are related !!!!!!!!!
Overall Ive learned that you cant let this stuff you down. 99% of any questions I have go un noticed. I do my research ahead of time so that I can provide the proper info. Ive learned that if its out there you can find it even if you have to chop and screw your search results to get to it.

Joseph, this happened because- while pressing the command, you must be facing north west while holding your hd2 above your head. Also, be sure to shake the device intensely. It will help to chant mekaleckahilecahinyho while following this procedure because it will unlock the ever so elusive feature of tv out on the hd2.
Hope this helps!

Hehe. Thanks. Long time lurker, first time poster. This place is amazing.
Hey OP, it looks like your 60 posts have not taught you anything. This is a community. Do you know the role of a "community"? Use Google and get the definition. We are ALL here to help, regardless of how fed up you are with the same posts by new people. and just to let you know, I also get mad when I see those kind of posts. However, my 100+ posts (which are not much) and my small contributions have taught me that I have to be tolerant way over my limits. Stop whinin' and start contributing.
This thread makes you as stupid as you would consider any of the other topics/users. Stop wasting the space because now, we will have to go over one more post on the list in order to find the one we were looking for.
btw, use your words wisely.

[q] evo4g rookie

hey guys, im new to this website thanks to a good friend of mine (he doesnt have an xda account but he has knowledge of it). I'm basically interested in XDA because i wanted more to do with my phone (EVO4G) and i have heard the best source of help would be XDA. i've had the phone since its release date and havent done much with it since i've gotten it. Now im convinced to "root" it and see how fun it is. i'm having trouble doing anything i've seen on youtube and i dont want to do anything stupid to damage it, but i'd love to know everything on rooting and the likes of it...anyone willing to help a brother out? LOL
1. welcome newbie..
2. yes you are in the right place...
3. what the hell took you so long?
4. did you see the sticky : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881747
5. yes, there are a lot of members that will help you...but remember .. it is best to do a quick search first.
6. what is your question?
7.. because its lucky!
You want to start on the unrevoke website, than download the software and hboot drivers, you need them to root your phone, without them it will not work.
Sent from my evil evo!!
Yeah man I'll help you out... Rooted my evo before I even made a phone call... You're going to be amazed at how much better your phone is rooted/customized...
The best advice I can give you is to READ... try the stuff out, if you have issues or questions, like dan330 said, search first cuz more than likely whatever you run into has already been figured out. I've been here a long time so I know what will get you help from the people that know what they are doing.
Check out this thread when you get done with the other... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701245
come back and tell us what you'd like to get started with and I'll walk you thru it if need be.
First of all make a backup of your rsa keys and wiimax.img that is your 4g keys ..just in case you loose them in the process of flashing stuff.....
