How to build busybox from sources? - Android Software Development

I'm trying to build busybox from sources.
I use last NDK as toolchain.
I started building it from original sources checked out from official busybox's git. Some small fixes with includes/declarations and stuff. Didn't finish fixing these problems.
And found out that cyanogenmod already has it with fixes I made for my build, but wrapped in __BIONIC__ define.
I decided to build it from cyanogenmod git (http://github.com/cyanogen/android_external_busybox) cause it looks like it already solved all that small build problems.
But I can't invoke make properly.
It has Android.mk, If I invoke usual

it doesn't use Android.mk makefile and fails with those small problems.
But if I invoke it with -f Android.mk It fails with error

looking inside Android.mk i think, that it fails with setting LOCAL_PATH. Setting it manually inside Android.mk doesn't help.
Can anyone point me to proper guide/howto?
How do You build busybox?

I have really little knowledge about building parts of Android system, but I think that you can't build it using makefile directly. When you are building Android system, then building process begins with some initialization, macros are defined, etc. and then makefiles of subprojects are called. This is why you get errors - you run makefile of busybox directly, but building process isn't initialized properly.
On the other hand NDK does this initialization when you are building native application, but you don't use NDK properly. NDK apps aren't build using regular make command.

There's three build systems for android:
SDK - Java
NDK - C/C++
android-sources - unixy stuff
You might need the android-sources rather than NDK to build busybox. To do that you'll need to download the sources then source the build/envsetup.sh then run "mm" in the directory that has your Android.mk

I managed to build AOSP with java 1.6. Check this patch if you're interested in.
I tried to build cm's busybox with AOSP but it fails (I expected that). Currently I'm getting cm sources. Hope that it'll be ok.
Do you know if I have to build whole tree before external utils (=busybox)? Cause when I tried to do it before aosp build it failed with make dependencies.

Getting Android source in Eclipse on Windows 7 [solved]

Hi all, I'm just starting getting into App development and I want to attach the Android source code into Eclipse so that I can reference it locally. Is there anyone here who has experience doing this on Windows who is willing to walk me through it?
Alternatively, I'll go it on my own if someone could help me get past this one roadblock. Thus far I've installed Python and msysGit (and updated my PATH variable accordingly) so that I can use git and repo. Something isn't working however and repo runs into an error that I can't seem to figure out. I'm contemplating uninstalling all that and starting from scratch with Cygwin.

personally I would dual boot linux... it was a breeze setting it up and there's plenty of tutorials for that.
You could install ubuntu (i think) side by side with win7 using wubi, as if it were a program or something. That way you're not messing with partitions.
I already have Eclipse set up. This is not the problem. I'm having trouble downloading the Android source code - NOT the SDK - on my Windows PC. Specifically, I always run into errors when I try to use "repo init -u blah blah" as instructed on the android source page. If someone has successfully done this on Windows, I'd like someone to give me some guidance, because either I'm doing something wrong or my setup is not correct.
Right now I'm trying to use Cygwin (basically creates a linux environment inside Windows). The last time I tried using repo, I got this:
EDIT: Code removed. I found a solution, outlined below, for anyone else who wants to get the Android source into Eclipse.
Okay, I got the source code, it was actually pretty easy to do, and I didn't even need repo to do it . For those who may find this useful, here's how.
0. It is assumed you have already installed both Eclipse and the Android SDK. If you don't have those yet, download them and set those up. If you aren't on Windows but still want to know how to get the source and import it into Eclipse, you can skip step 1.
1. Install Cygwin on your computer. During the installation, you will be presented with a package explorer and you can choose specific packages to install. Choose whatever you like, but make sure to include automake, bison, curl, flex, gcc, git, gnupg, python, zip, and an editor of your choice, like nano or vim (you can use the search field at the top to find these quickly).
This will basically give you a Linux shell on Windows whose root directory is something you've designated, like C:\cygwin.
2. A few more things to set up. Fire up Cygwin and make a bin folder in your home directory. Add this directory to your PATH variable, then cd into it.

cd bin
This blog post has code for a python script that will be used later. Make a new file using an editor of your choice. Copy the code and save the file as anything you want (I named it "pack.py"). When you're done, cd back to your home directory.
3. Downloading source. From your home directory (or a subdirectory if you wish), use git to clone the platform frameworks base into a new directory (here I've called it "android").

cd into that directory and examine the git tags.

You'll get a list of tags. Choose the one that matches the API level you want to build your project(s) in. I'm using API level 10, so I chose android-2.3.3_r1. That's what you're going to check out.

4. Reorganizing the source code. You need to locate all the java source files and restructure everything into a directory structure that matches the package naming. Fortunately, that script from earlier does exactly this and then zips it up into a nice little package for you called "sources.zip".

5. Move this zip file to the proper SDK platform folder. Since I downloaded sources for API level 10, I want to move this zip file to

You can do this with your regular old file explorer on Windows. Extract the contents into a subfolder named "sources".
6. Get Eclipse to recognize them. Open up a project (or start a new one) whose target is the API level you just did all that stuff for. In the package explorer, right-click the project root and click "Refresh". Now when you browse the class files under project-root/android 2.3.3/android.jar/whatever, you'll see actual source code instead of that nasty "Source not found" page.

[GUIDE][ICS] Compile Cyanogenmod 9 on Mac OS X Lion

There are a lot of toturials for building CM9 on ubuntu or CM7 on Mac but I couldn't find a decent toturial for building CM9 on Mac (specially Lion). Development in AOSP/CM land is rapid and guides frequently need updating. I had to spend a little time to figure everything out and I decided to share it here.
This tutorial is for building CM9 (ICS) for Galaxy Nexus GSM (maguro) on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 using Xcode 4.3 and homebrew . You can easily make the instructions work for most other cm9 devices, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible if you blow yourself up, blah blah blah
However, I've tried to make this as noob friendly as possible because, well I'm a noob myself
Instrunctions:
UPADTE (MAY 29TH) : The Xcode 4.3 default compiler (llvm-gcc) used to be incompatible with CM9. Thanks to jocelyn and topprospect, the LLVM compatibility patches from mainline AOSP are now merged into CM9. Therefore, you can now use Xcode 4.3 and its command line tools without installing another compiler. However, since GCC is still the only officially supported compiler, incompatibilites with llvm-gcc could still be introduced with future updates. Therefore, if your build fails, it might be worth it to try installing and compiling with GCC 4.2. See the Troubleshooting section for more info.
Now that we have Xcode 4.3 and Xcode command line tools (CLT) installed, let's continue.
Open Terminal and run

if you don't have Java, you will get a prompt asking you to download and install Java. Go ahead and install it.
If you don't have adb and fastboot working, download the android-sdk from google (version r18 as of now) and put it in /usr/local/ and rename the folder to "android-sdk".
Install the homebrew package manager

To make sure that homebrew and android-sdk executables are in $PATH:

Relaunch Terminal for the change to take effect.
At this point you can run

to detect any problems there might be (Homebrew may instruct you to use the xcode-select utility to select the xcode installation path). Hopefully, your system is raring to brew
Now we have to install a bunch of packages:

brew install git coreutils findutils gnu-sed gnupg pngcrush repo
We now need to create a couple of symlinks so that the gnu versions of 'sed' and 'find' are used rather than the osx provided versions :

ln -s /usr/local/bin/gfind /usr/local/bin/find && ln -s /usr/local/bin/gsed /usr/local/bin/sed && ln -s /usr/local/bin/gstat /usr/local/bin/stat
It's time to create a case sensitive image which will hold our working directory:

hdiutil create -type SPARSE -fs "Case-sensitive Journaled HFS+" -size 40g -volname "android" -attach ~/Desktop/Android
Now we have a disk image in ~/Desktop/Android. Mount it if it's not mounted already. (Don't be picky about the size, the image will only take as much as space as its contents).
Now we need to create a working directory inside the mounted volume:

We can initialize and download the source now:

repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b ics && repo sync && say 'finished'
Now we need to get the required proprietry files for our device. We can get these from the device itself. Connect your phone (make sure USB Debugging is enabled) and run the following (for maguro):

cd /Volumes/android/cm9/device/samsung/maguro/ && ./extract-files.sh
[If you see errors in the output from extract-files.sh, see the Troubleshooting section below]
For Google devices,we can also get them directly from google. For maguro, download the 3 files and extract them to /Volumes/android/cm9. Then,

cd /Volumes/android/cm9
/Volumes/android/cm9/extract-broadcom-maguro.sh
/Volumes/android/cm9/extract-imgtec-maguro.sh
/Volumes/android/cm9/extract-samsung-maguro.sh
We also need the prebuilts (like ROM manager and Term.apk):

You can optionally tell the build to use the ccache tool. CCache acts as a compiler cache that can be used to speed-up rebuilds :

export USE_CCACHE=1 && /Volumes/android/cm9/prebuilt/darwin-x86/ccache/ccache -M 20G
Default is 1GB. Anything between 20GB-50GB should be fine.
Before starting the build, we need to workaround an issue with Lion and compiling the QEMU emulator.
[This step doesn't seem to be needed anymore. QEMU is automatically ignored on OS X/Darwin]
If you build now, you're probably gonna get kernel build errors regarding the missing elf.h header (this error might be device specific). Fortunately, we already have this file downloaded, so we only need to copy it to /usr/local/include:

FINALLY, we are ready to build:

Pick your device from the list and enter the number. For maguro, you could use "brunch maguro" instead and skip the menu. Depending on your system, this will take 30min-4hours.
You should now see a beautiful zip file waiting to be flashed:

​Troubleshooting:
The extract script for maguro seems to be a little outdated, as it doesn't pull the gps proprietary blob. You can either use the google provided scripts, or add koush's git repository for your device to your local_manifest.xml.
As explained above, the CM9 source is currently compatible with llvm-gcc. In the future, if llvm-gcc fails to build correctly, you should try installing and compiling using GCC4.2 (the Xcode 3 compiler). You can install apple-gcc4.2 from homebrew:

brew install https://raw.github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-dupes/master/apple-gcc42.rb
This version of gcc can happily coexist with Xcode 4.x .
So now you have GCC 4.2 installed, but it won't be used unless we update the corresposing environment variables:

export CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc-4.2 && export CXX=/usr/local/bin/g++-4.2
Notice that using the export command is temporary. If you relaunch Terminal, you will need to set these again. However, this is a good thing, because changing these values permanently (by putting them in ~/.bash_profile) can interfere with other builds.
If you use this method, the build might fail while compiling "external/zlib/x86/adler32.c". It appears that a recent change in zlib has introduced an incompatibility with gcc 4.2. you have to revert the following 2 commits:

git revert 13bf40af68236c961542bdee1d4b7c0176bf15a0
Alternatively, you can add topprospect's zlib on github (which has those commits reverted) to your local_manifast.xml. Simply run:

If you get a build error, and your error is not covered here, copy the last 20-30 lines of the build output AND the output from the following command into pastebin and post the link. Hopefully me or someone else will help you.

Now you can save time by using "cm9env" to get your environment setup or "cm9build" to compile a clean updated build.
To clear your output directory for a new build, run "make clobber". You probably don't need this if you've only changed a few lines of code.
To cherry pick yet-to-be-merged changes from the gerrit instance:
1. Pick an open commit from CM Gerrit
2. Under list of Patch Sets pick the latest and open cherry-pick tab
3. Check what Git repository the url is pointing e.g. http://review.cyanog...frameworks_base
4. In your CM9 working tree go to the corresponding directory, which in this case is something like ~/your-working-directory/frameworks/base/
5. Now simply paste the whole line seen in CM Gerrit cherry-pick tab e.g. "git fetch http://review.cyanog....rameworks_base refs/changes/00/13100/4 && git cherry-pick FETCH_HEAD"
It should be now included in your next compiled build. When doing repo sync again, cherry picks will be lost.[CREDIT Fihlvein from xda]

In the past I've had to cherry pick to get my OS X build environment set up for CM9. The compile from source fails because I started with macports instead of homebrew (bad idea). I tried to switch to homebrew without success. Any tips to switch from macports to homebrew?

Yes, this guide should work fine on Snow Leopard. It mostly depends on your Xcode version. If you have Xcode 3, you can skip step 1 entirely, since you already have gcc4.2 as part of Xcode.
If you have access to Xcode 4.2 and above, you will need to install gcc4.2 separately, as explained in the guide.
Now regarding Macports, I strongly suggest that you completely uninstall Macports before installing homebrew. Instructions are here: http://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.uninstalling.html

If you are using this guide, you need to change the repo initialization command to :

repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest
and then do repo sync. You can setup ccache as usual. I don't think AOSP has the "brunch command", so you have to use launch and then make.
Run "lunch" and select an option from the menu. You can find more info about the options here: http://source.android.com/source/building.html. For maguro, you should use "full_maguro-userdebug".
To start the build, use

Seems to be a problem with the compiler, but I'm on xcode 4.3 and I've installed gcc-4.2 and set the env vars. Any help?

You guys seem to have the same issue. What sort of Xcode configuration are you using? Can you post the output from "which gcc","which g++", "gcc -v", "g++ -v" and "cc -v"?

Everything checks out. I'm away from my main machine so I can't run a test build, but I suspect that a recent change is causing problems.
Now, regarding the compiler, Setting CC/CXX *should* take care of everything, but I am currently not 100% sure that somewhere in a makefile, these environment variables aren't being ignored. Since I wrote the guide, I noticed a lot of clang warnings in the build, which means that CC/CXX is not honored and /usr/bin/cc and /usr/bin/c++ is being used.
A more robust method of making sure gcc-4.2 is being used is creating symlinks to gcc-4.2 and g++-4.2 :

ln -s /usr/local/bin/gcc-4.2 /usr/local/bin/cc
ln -s /usr/local/bin/g++-4.2 /usr/local/bin/c++

Obviousely, a systemic method like this has its downsides but it may be the only choice without having to change CM code (especially since I lack the knowledge to do so )
[I recently found out that master aosp is no longer using CC/CXX to find the compiler (see ./build/core/combo/). Instead, it uses "gcc" and "g++" directly, which means that llvm-gcc will be used no matter what env variable you have. Fortunately, unlike cm9, master aosp is supposed to build fine with llvm-gcc (except for qemu, which doesn't matter for device images). ]

Okay, just tried this. I created a new dir (/Volumes/Android/bin) that simply houses those softlinks you recommended. Then I put /Volumes/Android/bin at the beginning of my PATH. That should fix it without breaking the rest of the system, e.g. homebrew.
The GENERAL_REGS problem still exists though. Pretty sure b/c gcc 4.2.1 doesn't understand this construct properly (need a newer version of gcc).
So I backed out the change that introduced this adler32.c.

So this isn't really a solution.. Seems like we need to move to a newer version of gcc or figure out a patch to adler32.c that makes it gcc 4.2 compatible.

Well, run git status. You'll see that the only conflict is in the comments in zlib.h. So, you can just ignore it.

Nice find. I tried to compile this morning and I ran into the same issue. This is what I don't understand: I did a couple of builds about a week ago without running into this issue. But, the latest commits on zlib are from 2 months ago.
Amazingly, the Xcode 4.3 toolchain (clang and llvm-gcc) builds this external/zlib/adler32.c just fine.
An alternative to this problem is to install an up to date gcc 4.7 :

and then create symlinks to gcc-4.7/g++-4.7. I have not tested this yet.

The following contains binaries, and instructions for use of an experimental newer toolchain than those included in the android pre-built package.
This is provided to allow existing linux kernel developers experiment with the updated version of GCC (besides the complicated building instructions the code just has a small patch for a known issue with android and 4.6.* otherwise is directly from GNU (see build information below)
The packages I'm also providing to help developers current on windows (With cygwin but no other virtual environment) to start exploring android Linux kernel development for their devices. (In addition to a OSX toolchain for more advanced mac users)
due to the slight differences between kernels on different devices this How To is intended to be used for advanced users who can adjust for the differences required for the devices specific kernel.
I may add additional guides to this thread if I find a need for them.

I have two versions of a GCC-4.6.3 toolchain

2) For Cygwin (windows): toolchain-4.6.3.cygwin.tar.bz2 (Sha1: 6947e1c1ba95195019f542eb8ba0708667b63eca)
3) For OSX (mac/darwin): toolchain-4.6.3.darwin.tar.bz2 (Sha1: 9a977f0672863fdd9501383a6ad1e30723281f68)

Since may devices are slightly different this can only be a high level kernel building guide
Please ask for any specific directions from the current kernel maintainer.
To most people who have built kernels before this will look familiar, the most important part is preparing your local environment to use the new toolchain,
1) If you have not already download the tar.bz2 above, (pick the one for the computer you are preparing to build kernels on)
2) extract the file (for the sake of this guide I will assume it is extracted into a ~/android directory)
ie on cygwin you might:
mkdir -p ~/android
cd ~/android
tar -xjvf toolchain-4.6.3.cygwin.tar.bz2
Note: steps one and two are just properly installing the toolchain, you will not need
to repeat them to build a different kernel.
2.b) OSX Only: check elf.h
open ~/android/toolchain-4.6.3/README in a text editor and check if elf.h is installed, otherwise manually install it as per the readme
3) fetch your kernel source into the ~/android directory and change into the
source codes root directory
(this can be via a git repo or tarball)
example if you wanted my ACER a100/a500 source you might run:
git clone git://github.com/ezterry/AcerTabKernel.git
cd AcerTabKernel
change this to match the source you are fetching
4) In the root directory of the kernel source (~/android/AcerTabKernel in the about a100/a500 example) update the environment for the cross compiler
add the toolchain to your path:
export PATH=$HOME/android/toolchain-4.6.3/bin:$PATH​
set the cross compile:
export ARCH=arm
export CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-androideabi-
export KERNEL_DIR=`pwd`​
(this will need to be done once for each terminal you use to run any of the following make commands)
5) Grab your configuration
From the device:
adb pull /proc/config.gz
gzip -dc config.gz > .config
or from a prepared configuration if it's included in your code base by running
make _defconfig
example for the a100/a500 code base is 'make vangogh_defconfig' for the a100 and 'make picasso_defconfig' for the a500
6) Customize configuration
just run menuconfig and use the UI to update settings
make menuconfig​
7) building the kernel (zImage)
This is normal at this point with 'make -j'
so for a quad core CPU you can run
make -j5​
(note: the wrong number in the -j argument will not harm the build but may slow down the building process by either using too few threads or needing to keep track of too many)
8) If it worked you will now have the kernel in arch/arm/boot/zImage
this can be injected into the boot.img (as the kernel, using an existing ramdisk) as is
If it failed for your kernel your kernel source may need one of the common patches
9) Building modules
the following will prepare the modules in subdirectory mod:
make modules
rm -rf mod
mkdir mod
cp `find ./ | grep .ko$` modules.order mod/​
After these commands [if no errors] you can simply copy the contents of mod/ to /system/lib/modules on your device, note it is recommended usually to remove the existing contents of /system/lib/modules unless there is a closed source module required from the previous build despite the new kernel.

If your kernel has not been built for the new toolchain or on cygwin before you may require some of these common patchs: (I've thus far only tested this on my Acer A100/A500 source)

The linux toolchain can be used to build android components, however this requires various manipulation to the android /build git repository as currently various other toolchains have hard coded paths into the prebuilt repo. If you intend to incorporate this into your build it may be best to inject the toolchain into your prebuilt repo rather than expect your users to download the links above, ensure to keep the compile notes as it explains how to get the source code to the toolchains)
On cygwin/osx it may also be possible to build android applications however I've not yet tested this as the scripts to make a proper build are complex when attempted outside the android build tree.

I have been spoiled by Windows for far too long I fear, my attempt for this last week at getting Linux setup and building CM9 has been nothing but a complete FAILURE, too many single line entrys for different distributions/package combo's, commands I dont know and cant find because of wildcard portions of them and lack of understanding, and not enough scripts like the wonderful Compile CM9 script someone put up (cant run it because all the pre-req's arent setup).
Good god Ill be jumping for joy if this works tomorrow on WinBlows!

Sorry I can't support devs that have not learned cut copy and paste.
You probably forgot to export some of the environment variables or are just trying to run a arm binary on your PC and or a x86 binary on your arm device.
But why am I guessing? Why don't we know what you tried to run and what the actual text of the error was.. what type of kernel you tried to build, what you are running?
These packages are for developers if you feel like using them its time to learn to how to trouble shoot a problem and write a ticket to explain said problem clearly to others with at least some information to give us a chance to understand.

Um, in general its recommended you don't:
-O3 is not recommended for the kernel as many low level parts require the assembly code generated to remain as is and not be optimized as will be by some of the options -O3 enables thus likely reducing the stability of your kernel.

That said the menuconfig has an option to optimize for size (-Os) if enabled else -O2
For other optimization (including tuning for your cpu) you can add them to the CFLAGS_KERNEL/CFLAGS_MODULE in the make file.)
For -O3 like functionality you could add the increment to the line:
-finline-functions, -funswitch-loops, -fpredictive-commoning, -fgcse-after-reload, -ftreel-vectorize, -ftree-partial-pre and -fipa-cp-clone
-Ofast is -O3 with -ffast-math as well
If you do build with all the -O3 or-Ofast options ensure you test the kernel for stability and run some benchmarks. (as it may not actually be faster depending on the cache misses)
The first option I'd start pruning was the one mentioned in my reference below -fgcse-after-reload.
If you really insist on -O3 rather than just adding the optimization you want that are not in O2,it can be added also in the Makefile where the configure flag is checked and its added to KBUILD_CFLAGS
Obviously all and any of this is at your own risk, anything that breaks you have to find a way to fix it.

If you are asking in a cm9 build tree.. its a pain, best is to update the cm kernel makefile to point the build chain temporarily.
If you mean just to compile by hand as described in the op
Once the kernel is compiled find an anykernel update.zip or manually use mkbootimg or fastboot to merge it with the ram disk. Cm9 targets mkbootimg and unpackbootimg (if I'm not mistaken) will build the applications to unpack your current (or the default cm9) boot image and re-create them with your custom kernel built from hand.

I think that means there is an issue with your config..
Most android kernels require initramfs, but don't specify a file, as its provided by the bootloader.. However in your case it is trying to embed it into the kernel.

Build CM7 Kernel from Source: Compile Fails (REPOSTED FROM DEV)

THIS HELP REQUEST WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED IN THE DEV FORUM, BUT IT WAS "SUGGESTED" THAT IT BELONGS HERE INSTEAD.

I'm trying to build CM7 Kernel from source. I've followed "Building_Kernel_from_source" in CM Wiki exactly. Executed yes "" | make oldconfig. I still get fatal script & compile errors. First was "usr/galaxysmtd_initramfs.list" not found. Created an empty one to get past this temporarily. Next got FIQ_START undefined. Tried manually fixing this (and others errors) to no avail. I think I'm missing some basic point. Can anyone offer any advice? Am I missing some patch? Is this a .config issue? Something else?

dev machine: Ubuntu 10.04LTS
installed CM7.2 on phone.
installed development support tools and checked versions.
set up repo, downloaded from git://github/CyanomodGen/android.git -b gingerbread and repo sync.
set CCOMPILER.
checked that ARM EABI installed (Ok).
cloned kernel from git://github.com/CyanogenMod/cm-kernel.git.
adb pull config.gz from phone.
gzip -d -c > .config
Executed yes "" | make oldconfig (looked Ok)
Tried to build: make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILER=$CCOMPILER -j4
Got fatal script and compile errors (arrrgh).

Hey guys, I downloaded the LG D800 lollipop source files from the opensource LG site, and I was trying to build it.
From my understanding, the instructions.
Code:
1. Android build
- Download original android source code ( Lollipop 5.0.1_r1 ) from http://source.android.com
- Untar opensource packages of LGD800_L_Android.tar.gz into downloaded android source directory
a) tar -xvzf LGD800_L_Android.tar.gz
- And, merge the source into the android source code
- Run following scripts to build android
a) source build/envsetup.sh
b) lunch 1
c) make -j4
- When you compile the android source code, you have to add google original prebuilt source(toolchain) into the android directory.
- After build, you can find output at out/target/product/generic
2. Kernel Build
- Uncompress using following command at the android directory
tar xvzf LGD800_L_Kernel.tar.gz
- When you compile the kernel source code, you have to add google original prebuilt source(toolchain) into the android directory.
- Run following scripts to build kernel
a) cd kernel
b) export PATH=$PATH:tools/lz4demo
c) make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=../prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.8/bin/arm-eabi- g2-att-perf_defconfig zImage -j4
* "-j4" : The number, 4, is the number of multiple jobs to be invoked simultaneously.
* lz4demo : More information can be found at "https://code.google.com/p/lz4/"
- After build, you can find the build image(zImage) at arch/arm/boot/
3. how to build chromium34_lge (vendor\lge\external\chromium34_lge\src),
please refer to README.txt at the folder mentioned above.
say to build the AOSP_ARM generic image.
I am building it now, and it did include the make files for the vendor directories. But I am wondering if this is actually going to work, and if it's missing anything?
If someone has ever done this before, and can accurately describe the process I would appreciate it.
I understand it as download android>extract the files to that directory and "Merge"(Overwrite?) the files, then run the envsetup, lunch for AOSP_ARM and make.
I don't understand what this line means "When you compile the android source code, you have to add google original prebuilt source(toolchain) into the android directory."
I also don't understand what the Chromium34_LGE thing is, and what it's for.
If anyone can shine some information on this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Go to http://opensource.lge.com, and search for LGD800. The downloaded file named LGD800_Lollipop_Android_D800_v30f.zip is a 633,894KB file containing LGD800_L_Android.tar.gz 505,244 KB and LGD800_L_Kernel.tar.gz 133,042 KB. When both are extracted the result is over 2GB of files and folders.
To build you'll need a Linux OS and be very knowledgeable with Linux commands and file structures.
As for a prebuilt, there is one buried in the folders at LGD800_L_Android.tar.gz\LGD800_L_Android.tar\android\vendor\lge\prebuilt\LGBackup\tar\LGBackup_tar.zip\
I don't know if there is another prebuilt in the LGD800_L_Kernel.tar.gz because I didn't look. Linux is far out of my reach, so I'll stay away from build scripts and makefiles...etc..
