Hey I was wondering what you guys thought was a great alternative to the stock Samsung music apparently. I'm looking for something that is very functional but is also very sleek and stylish. Also hopefully it comes with a widget as well. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks

theres always tunewiki
I would say MixZing. It is not the "sleekest" looking but it certainly is the best-SOUNDING. It has a full 10-band EQ with each band customizable to 12.0db. It also creates playlists based on what you are currently listening to and can get album art/info automatically + suggest new music you may not have. It has a lock screen widget for changing music without unlocking the phone (or you can use a separate program which allows you to switch the song by shaking your phone, even when off). Finally, the developers are VERY friendly and receptive to support and suggestions and are actively working to improve it.

The CyanogenMod Music application. Download CM5 for Nexus One, and install the Music.APK. Awesome look, nice standard functionality and excellent widgets.
Just out of curiosity, what is it about the stock music app that you don't like. I have tried a lot of music apps on the G1, but the stock one on the Vibrant is the best one I have used.
On the G1 and the Cliq I used MixZing and I thought it was great. At this point I'm using the stock player, seems to work pretty good. I would use MixZing or DoubleTwist, I've heard good things about that player.
+1 for the stock Vibrant music app.
The thing is that most of lyrics apps don't support this stock music player.
I tried Mixzing but I like 3 (cubed player).
meridian is pretty good. the headset controlls work for it.
I'm using MixZing, Cubed (3) and Stock player each had one problem I can't stand.
On the Cubed: it keeps recreating/duplicating my playlists, making several copies of each m3u list I have except only the last entry is useable.
On Stock: m3u files not recognized.
+1 for tunewiki, auto lyrivs and cover art download, widget looks ugly and no lockscreen controls though

One reason not to use the stock player is that it can't sort music by artist once your music library gets above a certain size. There is a thread in the Captivate section about this "Music Player -Not enough space in Music Database"
none of this would be a problem if google would get with the program. if the music player in android 3 is the same as android 1 then i hope someone slaps google with a wet noodle.
I just use Real player, works great for music, videos and pics, cant go wrong

Doubletwist is really good
I like MixZing mainly because it automatically retrieves album art and it has a decent widget. It also sorts music very well for me and the lockscreen widget is something I use a lot. My only gripe is that it's not very good looking.
I'm in the process of pulling the Music.apk out of CM5 for the Nexus1, and am going to push it to my Vibrant.
Question though... do I need to remove the current music player (/system/app/MusicPlayer.apk) before I put the CM5 one on there?
Is there anything else I should know before doing this? Thanks!
Curious, whats so good about the CM5 music player that the Samsung one doesnt have?

Well for me, I'd like it so I can use Last.fm scrobble feature. It doesn't support the Samsung one because the api is not supported and the its closed source.
@OP
Yea push it, then debug if it force closes. I'm pretty sure you might need some libs. De compiling the apk, maybe.

Ah, same reason I stopped using the Samsung music app. I love it though, just want Last.Fm support.
I use the music player called "Cubed" as in the math symbol. Its free, supports Last.Fm and is better than the stock music player. Search for it in market under the author "filipe"
or

I just read the Vibrant5 thread. And eugene included the stock Music player in his rom. Might want to check that out.
Two music apps to choose from

I flashed Eugene's hybrid rom, which didn't have the stock Samsung music player.
I then extracted his Vibrant9 rom and copied and pasted the Samsung apk into system.
I haven't uninstalled the music app, that came with the hybrid rom,but they both work fine.I just prefer the ui from the stock Samsung player.
Hey so any instruction on how to do this. I'm kind of a noob and really like that player...

I would hope that at the very least it can list more than 50 artists. The Samsung player looks nice, but it's a piece of crap for a media-centric phone if it gets overloaded by too much music.
ok just switched from a international galaxy s here, enjoying the amazing speed of the Epic, it's crazy fast but I miss many of the touchwiz features, like the music player, I loved the Equalizer and the UI of the touchwiz music player, but the biggest feature I miss is the music controls in the notification bar and lock screen, it made multitasking a joy !
any idea if we can install the touchwiz music player in our phones ? is there a APK or something ? will the status pull down controls and Lockscreen controls work ?
You could try searching the system dump of the i9000 t see if you can find the apks, but even then it might not work...

I sold my phone, I have only the Epic 4g now. I'll try over at the galaxy s forum.
i switch from the vibrant and thats the only thing i miss please if u find the way let us know
does the EQ work over other apps too? like Pandora?
I, too, would like to have that music player. I would also greatly enjoy having the video player so I can adjust brightness and have it save where I left off on the movie.
The stupid stock one we have restarts the movie every time I navigate away.

We should start up a bounty for this. I'd pay money to have the video player

If we could get a system dump of the I9000, we could try to port it to the The Boss ROM.
for video I'm using rock player, it's not as smooth in playing back certain filetypes as the stock player{only a few 720P MKVs everything else works perfectly}, but it has all those features like remembering where you left, adjusting brightness etc.
BTW I'm thinking the Froyo update should bring the music player, cause every other galaxy s has it ,there's no reason why the Epic shouldn't get it.
it the mean time I'm using MiXing along with quickdesk to control music playback in the background, which is nowhere near as not as good ,but it works.
also does anyone know a music player app that can play flac files ,thats another thing I miss ?
I'm going to try and port this over if I get the chance tonight. Ill report back my progress.

Guys, for video just get mvideoplayer from the market. Puts rokplayer to shame, handles everything including mkv with subs and resumes where you left off.
As for the music player, having never used or seen the music player on the other galaxy phones, i really don't know what i am missing as i am fine with the stock Android music player.
Is it possible to pull those features off the Fascinate because I think mine has them but he maybe talking about something else.

One that works even better is Wuzhenhua Player...I've yet to find a video that won't play using it. I tried the MPlayer that you suggested, but it wouldn't play videos that Wuz still does, so I'm sticking w/ Wuz.
It's not available on the market, but I found it using Google. The latest version, as far as I know, is 4.1 which has been converted to English...worked great on my Moment, and even better on my Epic.
I've tried attaching the .apk, but I keep getting errors...I'll try again later. EDIT: Got it attached.
Please post questions in General section.
Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.

I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.
Lithium Music Player
4 me is
Lithium Music Player
Yea your right mixzing is horrible too. Ill stick with stock for now.

Horrible?
Gapless playback, music suggestions, equalizer, id3tag editor (once you register it) and a lot of other things and you say that it's horrible?

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Do you know that you can set the folder(s) to scan for media within the options?
Also, regarding suggestions you can also disable them. Do you guys just stop on the first screen or what?

Just wondering if you're talking about the stock sense music player or Mixzing? I've hunted high and low in the stock player and can't find anywhere to tell it where to look.
Horrible yes,ok it is good, but it does not support rewind and forward on my jabra bt 3030....only back skip, and forward skip.....the sense player supports all my jabra functions....

If you can afford it, Spotify without a doubt. It's all I use now!
Hey,
Since I don't have enough posts I've decided to ask here
I've tried to play some music on my htc hd2 with hyperdroid. Listening to mp3's was completely fine but while I was listening to songs in flac format I had some crackling/popping issues.
Is it the fault of music player/hyperdroid rom or something else?
Fault of HyperDroid .. In general, (for me) all music do that all the time.
You don't need 10 posts to search threads, you know.
Have a nice day!
Is there any way to fix it? I couldn't find too much info only few posts about it.
