4g - EVO 4G General

Any sightings of 4g in the sf bay are yet?

There's a thread somewhere saying there is.
Try searching, does wonders.

4G @ staples center (los angeles)

I get 4g in Some in that area!! its fast!!!!!!!!! in L.A. yeaaaaaaaah! Anyone else see 4G in L.A. or in any area similar?
Los Angeles doesn't have 4G, you must have picked up signal from a Sprint booth demo antenna or something.
yes i am completely aware of that... Trust me... but there is a large part of downtown area that has it. I walked all the way from the convention center to the regal cinema and still had full 4g.
yea.. someone on android central said he gets 4g in his office downtown which is located on olive and 7th. and someone else stated that he gets 4g in culver city somewhere
no freaken way! thats nuts too bad im in irvine :/
Yes L.A. has been testing since the middle of may I posted on ppc earlier about picking up 4g in culver there is also coverage in north o.c.

[Q] 4G in Orlando, Florida

Hey, guys
I'm switching to either Evo or Epic in October, and I'd like to know beforehand how 4G reception is working for you in any Orlando area (I do know for a fact there's already 4G in Orlando, if you aren't informed). I'm also writing a review for a website and need some feedback on said topic. Thanks!
(same topic as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7999607, getting more feedback in different forum)

Anyone getting 4g in Lake Charles La?

We just got 3g 1/27/11 and wondering if sprint upgraded from 2g to 4g? I don't have an evo to check, its not listed on Sprint's 4g cities
It would be a shocker to wait this long for 3g and find we got 4g
My guess is we would have to wait on Clearwire to get 4g not Sprint?
Not that this means anything but .. 4G sprung up at I10 and College St in Beaumont, TX, just to your West, a few weeks ago. It seems to be 1 - 3 towers worth of coverage around that address.
Unfortunately coverage does not seem to be expanding yet.
Check out Lake Charles, LA on this map: clear.com/coverage. It looks like there is a 4G tower online, but it's just like Beaumont .. very weak coverage so far.
(Sorry can't post links yet)
nope
Don't see Louisiana listed?

In lake charles works great inside mall and around Ryan & prien lake rd farther out you have to be by a window or outside. Speed max is 5 mbps down 1 up
yes
T-Mobile is going to be the first to officially have 4G in Lake Charles
i recently found out it is available now (i blogged about it here)
but once the speeds can be considered true '4G' it will be the first in southwest Louisiana =]
I'm getting it in the Lake St/ Sale Rd area. It was one of the first things I checked when i got my EVO 3D. In fact, I'm on it now walking around my neighborhood.
look again
I'm in south Lake Charles on my 3vo with no 4G and has not worked anywhere. It shows 4G antenna on but its still on 3G.

In the mall yesterday, I got good and strong signal. According to opensignal, I'm connecting to sprint wimax. Speedtests are over double 3G.
sorry
sorry but I will have to see it for myself, heck we just got 3g 1/27/11 on Sprint, one of the last cities in the US to get 3G. I don't think we'll get 4g anytime in the near future

In south central LC along the 210 loop it's there. Opensignal shows connection to Sprint WIMAX, as does the 4G connection. It's not official, but it is there.

Speed increase seen on my Atrix

Ever since got.my Atrix I was seeing very disappointing download speeds from speedtest.net anywhere from .9mbps to 3.5 mbps. But never into the 4mbps range. But tonite Iam seeing consistant speeds of 4.5-5mbps. I live income the Bay Area near San Francisco. maybe there is hope. This might just be a coinsidence but I was also able to download the Blockbuster app, though it is not fully working right now, but before tonight I was not even able to download it from the Market.

Toronto has 42Mbps HSPA+ here
but download is still only 5mbps, upload is sadly 200kbps......
still poop 1.5 and 250k here in harrisburg PA..
just sayin...
/me hugs inspire running cm7 w/ fast interwebz speed.
I will be honest, i like the atrix more, i really do, and if Att got with the program and gave me speeds i want and pay for, the inspire would be for sale in my signature, and not the atrix... just sayin
killster
3278kbps download / 321kbps upload here in Los Angeles CA 90016
I haven't found one single att affiliated person that can give me a straight up answer on hspa+ or 4G anywhere! Either they will tell you that " oh yes hspa+ is available in your area now, or they have no idea about the release date about anything. The straighest answer I " think" I got, ( I don't trust a single thing att says to me anymore) was from a second tier tech support rep who said that mid 2011 4G would be available in certain areas. He said he had no idea where it would be since there is no map. He also told me att should not even be selling 4G phones now at all.

Sprint Spark - Phoenix AZ

I just manually checked for an update and my phone downloaded a file. After reboot sprint spark has been installed. Sadly, I have not seen a speed or signal gain yet.

Sorry but Why is this in the development thread? Wrong place to post try the Q&A thread
My mistake. Wasn't paying attention obviously. :/

Just so you know just because you have the Sprint Spark update doesn't mean you will get the fast speeds at this point. The Spark update means that when B26 and B41 LTE is finally built out in your area, your phone can handle it. There are only a few markets out there that are officially Spark enabled which are listed below. Clearly Phoenix is not on this list and thus this is why you don't see the fast speeds. See the press release below for proof.
Spark is now available in the following 11 markets:
Austin, Texas
Chicago
Dallas
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Fort Worth, Texas
Houston
Los Angeles
Miami
New York
San Antonio, Texas
Tampa, Fla.

Last but not least, please keep your questions in the Q&A or General section and not in the Development Forum.
Trust me you won't be seeing Spark in Phoenix for a while. I work at a Sprint store in Arizona and we are barely even getting LTE up around the valley. Spark is a ways off.
this is must be just a marketing BS name. my guess its the same as lte.
I can get 50mbps here easily with lte. I've seen even up to 100mbps on a test network near tower.
with a "normal" lte phone so.... 100mbps was on nexus 4
