Getting the same here with my XDA Mini S, I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to assign. Strange thing is that it still synchs???
I got those messages, too. I could sync fine, but the messags bugged me. You can Google the error message and find the answer at Microsoft.com, which is...
Settings -> Connections -> Network Cards -> Network Adapters (tab) -> Remote-NDIS Host
"Use specific IP address"
IP Address: 169.254.2.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: 169.254.2.2
My LAN uses 10.0.18.x addresses, but I think it's something between the device and ActiveSync.
thanks phoney, it works a treat.

Help
How did you manage to make it work. I am trying to use Terminal services to access my home pc via my MDA. I am not sure what settings to use,
Under my work network I created a new connection,
Name: Laptop
Host name/ IP: specified my IP (Tried with computer name before)
VPN type: What do i select here L2TP or PPTP
When I click next I am asked to enter username and password (I guess this is the username for my laptop). I have not touched the default settings under the advanced section.
Use server-assigned IP address was selected by default.
When i try to connect after i while i get the message, unable to connect check username and password.
Please advise what I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help in advance.
You don't need all that VPN crap. In fact delete the connection.
Here is what you have to do:
1) When you connect to your WiFi make sure that what you select under 'This network connects to' matches what you have in settings->connections->connections->advanced->network selection->programs that connect to the network (bottom list)
'internet' = 'My ISP'
'work' = 'My work network'
2) Start the client and enter your PC IP. You should now get a windows logon screen where you can enter your user and password.
Firewall?
can you connect to remote desktop from another workstation on that network? If not then it could be a firewall and you wouldn't be able to connect with your PPC anyways...
just a thought.

Can't get POP3 mail working with proxy

Greetings all, new user here with a TyTN issue.
I have a TyTN I am having trouble to send/receive POP3 mail while connected to Wi-Fi network with proxy server. I have searched web for solution but did not find anything specific, I hope someone can point me to the right direction here.
This issue only happens when I am connected to my work network. With my current setting I can browse web with IE but not send/receive POP3 mail. I receive following error message "Messages can not be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.".
My wireless network configuration are
all default except "Connects to:", which is set to Work instead of The Internet.
My proxy settings are
"This network connects to the Internet" - checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" - checked
Under Advanced, HTTP proxy's port changed to 8080, Socks proxy port changed to 8080 with sock 5 selected, WAP and Secure WAP were left blank.
My IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter settings are
"Use server-assigned IP address"
I have tested my TyTN in free Wi-Fi lounges where proxy isn't needed, I didn't have any problem send/receive e-mail. I have also tested send/receive e-mail via GPRS, that worked fine too. Discussing this issue with our IT department, they suggested to change setting under IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi adapter to "Use specific IP address" and uncheck use proxy server setting under Network setup. I was able to send/receive e-mail when applying the above 2 changes to bypass proxy server. My question now is can I setup mail to work with proxy server instead of change network settings to bypass proxy server? Any help'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.

wi-fi problem

I have a O2 XDA-EXEC Pocket PC to take advantage of our WiFi network at work. I am having problems setting up my WiFi connection and cannot seem to find out what to do to resolve.
When using my laptop wifi connect I set up the following
My network name (iiscwlan)
Authentication WPA
Data Encryption TKIP
802.1x EAP Type as PEAP.
Then under configuration of PEAP I uncheck Validate Server Certificate and all connects perfectly
TO KNOW MORE DETAILS ABOUT THIS CONNECTION VIST http://www.serc.iisc.ernet.in/LAPTOP_ WN_conf.htm
With the O2 XDA-EXEC I do the same but there is no configuration setting under PEAP to enable me to uncheck Validate Server Certificate. Every thing I do while attempting to connect using the O2 XDA-EXEC I get the following error messages:
Server Validation Error - The server certificate is issued by an unknown authority
and
Cannot log on to the wireless network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable validate server certificate under Windows Mobile 5.0???
plzz help me with this problem i do lot of my work with wi-fi ...........................
Upgrade ROM to WM6

I'd like to see where this is also? With PEAP (or EAP-TLS) you only get the option to select a Client Certificate. When it attempts to connect you do get a dialogue box to login with a Username, Password & Optional Domain, however I don't see anywhere to disable the verification of the Server Certificate?

Turns out you have to add a reg key:
\HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25\ValidateServerCert=dword:00000000
Look in the wiki for who to add them if you dont know how.

own hosting and ip address

I'm installed termux 118 and installed nginx server on my android 9,
I made a domain name ddns service - duckdns site,
connected my ip address, started the server,
and my site is up and running, but after a while,
I can't connect to the my site,
and see this error in windows network diagnostic:
"resource (myDomainName) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts."
Me interested, what is mean? Problem in my phone, server?
or something is blocking my requests to the host IP address of my home internet provider.
Or is it because the free domain name on duckdns is unstable?
I found only approximate answer to this error on the Internet:
-Reset TCP/IP and DNS Cache
-Turn Off Proxy Settings
-Reset Network Settings
-Disable Extensions/Add-ons On The Browser
