I was able to get a rom ported to a tablet device with no problem. The only issue i am having is that the screen on the original device is 7 inches and the device im porting it to is 8 inches. I can not seem to figure out how to get the package set to 8 inches and not 7 inches. Is anyone willing to look at the OS rom package and offer any thoughts on this? Since the OS (in a sense) is generally the same across the board, is there a particular file i need to look for to change the os to see the screen as an 8 inch instead of 7? Any input of this would be great. thanks

Not that I have a problem with android ICS, just curious..
will windows 8 have the ability to run on our thinkpad tablets?
Is there hardware differences between the Android and the projected windows model coming out in the future?
Thanks for the insight...
Windows 8 RT (arm version) is locked down really tight, I hear rumors of encrypted bootloader on the devices similar to ours on the TPT (256 bit encryption) to stop people from doing just this. so short answer no, you'll just have to buy a windows 8 slate if you want one. or hope that Secure boot keys start falling out of the sky
How about waiting for Android x86 alongside Windows 8 on the TPT 2 (though it didnt look like it had a pen, AARRRGGGG!)
That would be most excellent I have dreamed about something like that, if you aren't looking for the whole amazing android UI you can run Blue stacks, its pretty damn good for a beta and i run it on my Dell XT2 tablet, it has an n-trig digitizer just like the TPT and works decently well.
did any try this????

Hi,
I'm a long time android guy who is thinking about making the switch. I'm a noob to the new windows and I had a few questions about the Surface 2 (with Tegra 4).
* Can I jailbreak with Surface 2 running the latest version of 8.1 RT?
* Can I easily un-jailbreak the Surface 2 running 8.1 RT if I want to go back? Is there such a thing as a nandroid/recovery backup like there is on android?
Finally, I could just pony up the extra cash and go pro 2. Is the weight and battery life tradeoff worth it (looking for your personal opinions here since i know it really varies)?
Thanks in advance!

RT 8.1 patched out the old jailbreak and a new 8.1 compatible jailbreak has not been released so sadly no you cannot jailbreak a surface 2 yet (as it cannot be downgraded to 8.0 either).
It may be possible to use a win8.0 WIM file from the original Surface with drivers from Surface 2 (ARM). But you'll need to take the needed drivers from C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ of surface2 (there are lots of drivers there, you'll need to take only surface2-specific, sort folders by date, the surface 2 drivers should be "on top") and integrate them into WIM with DISM. This is a bit tricky - but possible for advanced users.
Probably you'll get the un-activated Windows 8.0.

If you want media consumption and battery life (usually what android is used for anyway), getting a baytrail atom tablet would be better off than both RT and pro 2.
If you plan on doing productivity and things which require the raw power of an I5, then go for the pro 2.
Hey guys I might be getting a hp stream 7 in a few days and was wondering if anyone here has one and if there any good, I'm only hoping for a bit of browsing and movie watching and light games, I've got a TF300T and a nexus 7 (2012) at the moment and was wondering if it would stand up to them for what I want it for, cheers for any info guys

Yes I did get it mate and for the price its really good, it can handle casual games well and browsing is very good but on a 7 inch screen you tap the wrong think now and then but I'm used to it as I use my nexus 7 a lot, s I think its a great way to try windows 8.1 on a tablet and it didn't disappoint me
But now you write on the Windows PHONE 8 forum not Windows 8.X.
HP 7 Stream this is a TABLET with full Windows 8.1 not phone or phablet. For devices like as HP 7 Strem is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-8-rt
My bad mate calm down no need for the bold and capitals shouting just makes you look like a tool
This tablet isn't windows RT. It's full blown windows 8.1. But, I am quite disappointed at how windows 8.1 is on this tablet.. All the text and buttons are so small it's so hard to use. I have a kindle fire hdx with google launcher installed and it is a much more practical device for 7in touch screen. Windows 10 better have a more appropriate design for touch screens.. Otherwise, things arent' gonna look good for MSFT.
Yeah that's the biggest issues I've got to but it was cheap and I wanted to see if it was worth getting a bigger better one and I think yes it is

I just won one and tested quickly and you need a keyboard and mouse to really take advantage of it. i think is great to have full office running on it or whatever app you want.
Have you got a good keyboard and mouse solution?
anyone tried linux on this?
I just bought the HP Stream 7 and hardware wise it is a pretty great device, but software is a different story. Yes full Windows 8.1 might sound great at first, but it is on a 7" screen with touch controls making it very difficult to use when not hooked up to a mouse and keyboard. I was wondering if anyone as anyone been able to make Windows 8.1 more mobile friendly? Web browsing is terrible because it loads the desktop version of everything meaning no mobile support anywhere forcing you to try and tap on links that are extremely small. Maybe a modified user agent for IE11 could fix that? I'd even accept any sort of hacking on this thing, like maybe an Ubuntu OS with some kind of touch friendly front end. What have you guys done with your small 7 - 8" tablets to make them more usable when mobile?
I second this. Have mine comming in in a few days. This was exactly my concern. Anyone with experiences with Windows on small screens?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
I got a stream 8 and I basically purchased a stylus for it. I recommend the adonit jot pro. Kinda pricey (29.99), but is worth it considering g the headaches I got trying g to use with does 8.1 with my finger
I keep going on and off with this thing on ROM'ing it but one thing has sort of made me decide to jump yes if there is an android 10 ROM out there. I love using ps4 remote play in my house. Right now I use my pixel 2 but Id love to use a larger screen. With my pixel c dead I have either this or my nexus 9 (which prob couldnt handle remote play anyway) to try and run a rom to see if I can connect the dual shock to the tablet as well. Remote play will work on anything above 5 but in order to use your dual shock instead of touch controls (yuck) you need android 10.
Is there a 10 based ROM or is this tablet just too old to have it?
Anyone know if it would work? (what Im looking to do)
Thanks
I don't think so, we only have an unofficial, and apparently on development halt LOS 16. It would be nice if we had a recent official build, then it could be picked up automatically by the microG fork.
Meanwhile the little brother Galaxy Note 3 has been on proper LOS 16 development, and there is an unofficial LOS 17, and two other roms (crDroid and Havoc OS) based on that.
The Note 10.1 is a really good device, the last one with stylus, before the stylus was reintroduced. And it's still kicking!
