Lol, that was my first thought, 'wtf yellow?'.

Hey Trev, good to see you guys moved over to the EVO, I enjoyed your ROMs on the Hero. I'd be willing to test your ROM.

I used your guys roms exclusily on the hero...I would love to test a dc rom on the evo...good to see ya on the evo side.
I would also be willing to give you a place to dump your roms to so others can download them...let me know.

Ex-Hero user here and I was a DC ROM user. Can't wait to see what you can do with the Evo. I would love to test anything you're working on.

For those who know nothing about your roms... do you have some post with info or would you mind filling an Android nubie in?

Big Thank you to all Contributors!

These devices right out of the box just don't seem ready for market. Whether its some draconian bootloader not letting one install the ROM he wants or tweaks and settings that arent right, out of the box they leave quite a bit to be desired.
But then i comes the people of this board. As i read through the extensive wiki and went through the process of flashing new ROMs on my Hermes I really came to appreaciate the MASSIVE amount of effort put in by this community in order to allow this PDA to really live up to its potential.
So thank you to all the contributors! I couldn't have even begun this process without your help.
i agreee with you
Me too. You folks are great!!!
ditto!
I would probably have sent this thing back were it not for sleuth255 and mikechannon and goestoeleven and others working on this forum.
fortunately htc has this free resource to fix their buggy phones.
i'm still eagerly awaiting the 8525 aku3.3 update. cingular had said it was due out by feb 1st, but here it isn't. maybe it will be soon. I still wake up with a locked up phone pretty often.
thanks to all of you that have helped make this feature rich thing useable.
wes
Thank you and I too like this community

I agree with all the accolades given. I looked on this board before I bought the phone so I was prepared for what it was not when it came. I had also downloaded all the goodies and was ready to make it the way I wanted it. But since then, more and more things were discovered and shared. Right now, this phone is almost just right. There are a couple of things I am waiting for the new ROM to resolve, but it is currently the best device I have had yet.
As soon as a better toy comes out, I will quickly jump ship and take that one, but only if it has the kind of support this forum gives.

Hi all, I'm an Admin from a large Sony Ericsson based forum and blog (www.se-nse.net) and we're currently expanding our horizons to cover Android a lot more.
I'm also an xda-developers user but clearly I don't post quite as much over here. I hope that this topic is acceptable though.
We're looking to get some Android developers about the place for both software development and technical knowledge on the forum if interested. se-nse is currently a great resource for modding of SE handsets and we hope to create a similar community for Android within the same site.
So if you know your Android stuff and are interested in joining our project please get in touch.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Mik
I'm holding my breath for some Android devs to work on both sites as well...
B/C I am holding my breath for the xperia! The SE US website lists the X10a for North America with ATT 3g bands. So, I'm hoping the X10 will be the first ATT Android device.
In which case I will definitely be getting one AND I WILL NEED MY ROOT!
I'll still keep my G1 for dev purposes! So, I won't be abandoning XDA!
Hey Mik,
I used to frequent the se-nse forum during the w800 days, I'd be most glad to assist you with your project if time permits, however do you need a modder, a native developer, a kernel hacker or a Java developer?
Regards,
Akshay
Well community wise we'll hopefully end up with all of those but specifically we're looking for a developer to build an Android app for se-nse.
I'm thinking something along the lines of a news reader for the blog and the ability to login, read PM's and change profile details from the phone. Setting a new avatar using the phones camera would be particularly nice I think.
Mik
Excellent, is it a group effort? Count me in, although if its just me working on it I dont know how much time I can dedicate to it until the 4th of December, I'm a bit busy till then, giving a talk at droidcon London.
Definitely a group effort as long as there are enough people wanting to be involved.
I'll happily lend ideas and do the testing but I know nothing about programming what so ever
Still looking for more developers to join the community and help out with our app development. Anyone who's interested please let me know or just head over to the forum topic linked in the first post
Mik
ahh se-ense.net. I remember that from when i used to mod my k750i.
Good times.
anyway, i'll probably start using both sites, as i'm planning on getting the X10 when it's released.
Maybe it'll need an audio hack, who knows

[Q] Want to root my HTC Wildfire But i have the OTA 2.2 Update

Hello
I was wanting to root my HTC Wildfire running Android 2.2 but i dont know how to do it? Can somebody Please help me!
Thanks,
Alistair
Wrong topic under wrong podforum. Try browsing Wildfire development, you'll find your answer there.
P.s.
The answer is, you can't. Get in line and wait unrevoked.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
WAIT for the USELESS Unrevoked?????
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! .v.
I have been waiting for it for more than 3 months!!!!!
FXXX IT!
well... Truth be told it's getting really ridiculous.
Three months later and after some recorder succesfull cases of S-Off they didnt even so much as bother releasing any news on the progress.
I'm with everyone stating we shouldn't be demanding anything since its not a right its just something they do on their spare time but if they cant make it work at least give it out to the community to try.
After all, nobody started out knowing everything they had help from the rest of the android world like anybody would. Isn't it time to give something back? Even if its just an update on their progress.

Referencing the 90/90 rule is an update for 90% of the earths population and anything they might be working on.
90/90 rule is also ridiculous

It's true though, and the thing is no matter what device I buy, it always in the corner of the room not being able to enjoy the party.
Happened with iPod Touch 2G MC, had to wait for months to get jailbreak just because our devices were unique and we have different bootroms.
And now HTC Wildfire, I bought the phone after getting the news that HTC Wildfire will be getting Froyo update, but now stuck with it with no root. I should've asked them if there were any handsets left with 2.1 Stock in it. :\

Haha, I was in the same boat with my iPod Touch 3G 32GB bought last October. I clearly remember going to Chronic Dev's website every few hours just to check up on the progress of Greenpoison, and the anticlimax that was when limera1n was released.
Thankfully, had better luck with my Wildfire, although I had previously decided to get the 2.2 OTA just to check it out (Because, at the very beginning, I was afraid to root and all, since the guides seemed complex), I am glad I didn't.

This is officially the 2000th topic asking the same damn question. Congrats.
No need to be so rude, everyone want's to know how the dev team is doing, and we all wait for the same answer. So we'll just have to wait and see.

Sweet, looking foward to taking her out for a run..
And I notice the Puerto Rican Flag!
Boricua!!
As soon as its up you will be getting a pint on me. I respect whoever has the time (and the stones) to make and especially post a rom to be scrutinized by the compassionless public.
Good luck
Bring it on!
Thank you sir! Can't wait to test it out.
Out of curiosity, what version is it based on? Gingerbread? Good luck with the final touches and more power to you.
Used your kitchen when I used to cook ROMS for my Touch Pro 2.
Glad to see you Working on the gtab.

I'm geeked to see you working on ROM's for the GTab Mr. Calkulin. I used to run your ROM's on my Samsung Moment (p.o.s. phone, but GREAT ROM's).
Can't wait to see what you cook up here!
Nice to see one of the premiere EVO guys writing for our device This is gonna be sweet, Caulkin has been behind some of the coolest scripts and fixes and some of the fastest rom base images that a lot of others use for their own cooking....very nice indeed !
anxiously awaiting this rom

I'm sure it's on XDA as well, but at the time, I was mostly on PPC-Geeks:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp2-...23542-21893-21056-calkulins-wvga-kitchen.html
Just so you know ... this was a TP2 (Windows Mobile) thing ... nothing of interest for the G-tab here.

Ah, I see, thank you anyway, its still useful for me.
Love the work you've done for my EVO and can't wait to see what you cook up for my G Tab!
Calkulin, man, glad to see you here! I actually left the evo to get the gtab. So far, still happy with my decision
Being the dev-monSTAR you are, you think a port of Sense will make it to the gtab?!
I'm jus playin, probably the longest of longshots getting that to work
cant wait to give it a go man! Whats the ETA looking like?
Beta testers needed, so PM me if you are interested...
PM sent your way.

Ubuntu for phones announcement

Today, Cannonical has announcement a version Ubuntu for phones. They can found more info here: http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone
The requesites are very similar to HD2. Will be posible portable to it?
hope so...
Sorry for my bad English. I just reading that link. Some of my friend say that the Ubuntu OS is base on Android Kernel so we totally can port it to our HD2 but the rom running on Galaxy Nexus just a demo rom that mean the need a lot of time to config. Ubuntu OS is currently in the development stage and finishing, according to the source before we have to wait until 2014. I think that time is too long for our HD2.
^
well you never can say, there are a lot of Dev's here that are even miles ahead of those manufacturers/ phone companies, all we have to do is wait & see.
I also noticed just yesterday in one 2nd hand site here in HK all the HD'2 where sold & at least 10 more people where looking for one.

I'm a NAND user on a LEO1024. Since Ubuntu phone will support android kernels and the drivers it will be quite simple to get the required files from tytung's repo and merge it into the OS.

I assure you there will not be and if you want it, you will have probably to do it yourself. It's not android, nobody wants that... yet.

To be the first would be awesome. I'm ready for it
i am waiting for that
please release it fo hd2
A very interesting project! My HD2 is looking forward!
I think it will be fun.
would be good as an excercise, i suppose. as long as the support is there.
why would it be better than android?
in my experience with ubuntu on my laptop, anything i try to do always seems end up typing long lines of code in a terminal window
as someone once said "linux is free if your time is worthless"
been developing with the new SDK & its a freakin beast ! .....i eat ...sleep ...poop ..Ubuntu ...its so much fun
Ubuntu Phone OS is going to rule ....its just so awesome !
