Has anyone got VPN working with a third party provider online e.g vpnuk.net but any would do ?
I can connect over 3G is I don't included the 'secret' key. If I do included it, it fails. I tested on a iPhone, it works either way.
Over Wifi (from work) neither works setup works but iPhone, MacBook, Windows PC are all working.
It suggests that Android VPN software is causing the problem....

I use Cactus VPN to connect to their NL server to watch NFL games using Gamepass over PPTP. I have been able to connect just fine and it will work for a brief time. But as soon as I go to a website, it will begin to load the site for a second or two and then loading stops and times out. Once that happens I can't even ping anything. Kill the VPN connection and it goes just fine. The VPN worked with stock ROM and it works in Win7. I also connected successfully on my daughter's Macbook. It seems isolated to this release on AOKP on my N7. Anyone else had this problem or know a fix? I love the ROM, but with VPN not working for me, its a no-go.
Hi All,
Since I upgraded to 6.0.1 (stock) my VPN connection no longer works. Not using any app just the built in Android VPN to hide.me.
Used to work on 4.4.4 and 5.1.1.
Exactly the same settings on the same network on my Note 3 (4.4.2) work just fine.
Always the same 'unsuccessful' message on the Note 4 (SM-N910C) though.
PS I have done a factory reset, cleared the cache etc etc just in case but no joy.
Anyone come across this. Any solution or workaround?
Cheers,
MM
I think there was a problem with VPNs in Android 6.0 marshmallow. Don't know if it's been fixed though.
VPN is working fine on my phone with 6.0.1 MM. I use Betternet VPN.
I experienced a problem before with VPN when I installed the xposed module Force Immersive Mode. But after disabling this xposed module, my VPN worked fine again.
Well, I am totally unable to get a VPN running using the built in VPN client using L2TP/IPSEK PSK.
For the benefit of others who may have the same issue. I download OpenVPN for Android from the market and used a ovn (config) file from my VPN provider (hide.me) and it all just worked first time.
If you don't have an ovn file you can configure manually.
I am very surprised at Sammy letting it ship with broken VPN functionality. A lot of us need this to access work networks etc etc.
Mrmyagi did you ever find a fix for the built in VPN access? I use a tab4 for work and cannot get into my VPN anymore on marshmallow. Our IT department can't even figure out a workaround
I use tunnelbear on 6.0.1, and it works fine.

I would use a third party app only company doesn't allow installation of any apps off store. Might be able to install it with just apk though
FWIW I use the stock VPN facility to connect to the VPN facility of my Draytek router, and it works fine, so the stock facility isn't completely broken.

I use OpenVPN for Android (available on Play Store). Works for me and actually better (IMHO) than the built-in client.

I just bought a Nexus 6P, rooted it, and installed PureNexus (Android 7.0.0). At home my WiFi works perfectly fine but I have issues at work.
Little background on our setup at work, we have 2 different wifi networks. One is a guest network with certain sites blocked at the firewall but nothing else really unique. The other is the main network with no firewall restrictions but you have to install a certificate to allow SSL traffic to be decrypted. Without the certificate you can go to any non-SSL sites, but secure sites will not load.
I'm able to connect to the guest network with no problems, but anytime I try to connect to the main network my phone says it has no internet connection. I'm able to get to internal resources on our network and the web browser actually does allow me to go online, but other applications won't. I've tried without the certificate, tried installing the certificate as WiFi and VPN/Apps but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Before the Nexus 6P I had an iPhone, which worked perfectly fine on the main network with the certificate. The last Android I had was on KitKat and it worked fine with the network configuration at work. Other people with Android have no problems with the network, but nobody has Nougat, yet. Any ideas on what's going on here or what I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help you can give!
I have a weird problem with my Samsung SM-T590. since I updated it's firmware to the latest Stock firmware. It has never been tempered with in regards to rooting.
I mostly just use it to stream movies form my Windows 10 pc. And that has been working just fine for months until now.
Until recently I had no issues at all and I noticed that a firmware update was available. So I let it update, which ran fine and everything seemed to be working fine.
I however now noticed that I'm unable to access any applications like DLNA or FTP or Remote Desktop on my main Windows 10 pc. All this used to work just fine before I updated the firmware. And I'm pretty sure that also after the firmware update, I had initially no issues accessing applications running on my pc.
I first thought, that the issue lies on my pc, and I made sure that firewall, IP's and ports etc. are ok. I can rule out any issues on my windows pc.
Troubleshooting so far:
Rebooting the Tablet.
Shutting off the tablet.
Assigning new IP's.
I tried accessing DLNA, FTP and Remotedesktop from another Andriod device (huawei) and my Iphone 6, and I can access the applications on my Win 10 pc just fine. That means, the Windows 10 pc is fine and the problem lies with the Samsung SM-T590. tablet. They are all on the same Wifi network.
Only my Samsung SM-T590 just times out If I want to connect to my Win 10 pc. The tablet behaves as if the PC wasn't found on the Network, while all my other devices can find my Win 10 pc just fine.
It was working fine for months in the same network environment.
Apart from that the tablet works just fine and can access internet over the same wifi network as the other devices.
I failed to find a solution and am out of ideas. Why is the tablet behaving suddenly like this? Anyone has observed such behaviour before? And has a solution?
Previously, I had no issues with AirMore on my Redmi Note 7. Recently, I can no longer connect by scanning the QR code. I've tried using another Xiaomi phone with the same version of Android and MIUI (both have Blokada as the only thing modifying their network), and it works properly with AirMore. I've also tried the method where you input your phone's local IP address to connect to its AirMore server. Works on the other phone, but not on this one.
I've also installed AirDroid, and it only manages to connect via the remote connection mode (over the internet), which limits you to 200 MB transfers in the free tier. So there's gotta be an issue with the phone isolating itself from the network. I do not remember modifying its network access in any way, other than using Blokada to block ads system-wide. I've tried uninstalling Blokada and it didn't help, while it works normally when Blokada is active on the other phone.
Can anybody help me diagnose what the heck is happening here?
Any help? I've managed to determined that the phone refuses all local incoming connections for some reason. I really can't afford a factory restore, I have so much installed and configured just the way I want it.
