HD2 charging problems - HD2 General

Hi, im having 2 charging problems in HD2.
- i've bought a car charger HTC CC C200 (mini usb) and i can't use it,
because it doesn't "fix" on car, it "jumps", i must pressure it all the time and even so it doesn't work on a BMW S5, on a S3 works sometimes ... what's the problem?
- after i've tried many times, my HD2 only charges at my desk while being off (with orange light on) !?!?! If HD2 is "on", it doesn't charge! What's happening here?
Update: my 2nd problem is fixed, i've searched for the Battery in settings, and found out that it was configured "for not charging while on" - WTF? I didn't did anything!, and yesterday it went off Vodafone network (as when it is on and it is necessary to enter the code) for 2 times...
TIA

for your second issue settings>battery> untick the "done charge when phone is on" box
EDIT..
just noticed you figured that out, sorry i cant help with your first issue

It's just a banal case of cheap (As in approximate) car charger, most of them are too large/short/long whatever, and don't fit properly inside the lighter slot.
Once I had to remove the screw ring on the tip to nake it slide inside, and put a scotch tape n its place to hold it together...

Ok, it wasn't expensive, but it is an official HTC product ... shouldn't it work? Besides, i've never heard of such a thing...

try looking at your battery pins and make sure there not bent. i had an issue where my hd2 would not charge turned out it was a bent battery pin. i also had a friend with the same issue. phone is alot more stable so i had no reason to take my battery out since. i also have a short in the my cord that came with the hd2 i think im gonna order the nokia version instead.

My is Wizard Dead. Please help

I got a used wizard today,it is a few weeks old I also got a cradle with it.
I pluged in the cradle to the USB port and the charger to power, after playing with it for 1-2 hours I placed the wizard on the cradle to charge and after a few mins i noticed that it was over heating. I removed it from the cradle right away and noticed that the battery was droping 1% every minute or so. After it was down to 27% i removed the charger and left only the usb connection and placed the wizard on the cradle again. it was charging fine, when it was up to 90% removed it from the cradle and again was droping fast.
When it was down to around 25-30% of the battery I did a soft reset and since then I can never get it to start again also the red charging light does not show.
What the heck is wrong with it? I also get a light burning smell from the bottom of the wizard where the connector is located.
Any help?
I need your lights guys.
Don't like the sound of the light burning smell, that sounds like an electrical fault. It looks like your battery has died and the wizard battery setup is well known to do this. You need to plug it into the official mains charger (not the usb one) as this has an output of 1A, enough to kick start the wizard battery into life and start the charging. You need to wait a short while though before the light comes on. If this fails try to get a new battery and try that. Any more light burning smells and it needs to go back to the supplier.
I would suggest that you send it back to replace/repair. The rapid dropping of the battery power suggest that it is using power somewhere (illegally). I've heard cases of battery caught on fire, etc. and I won't suggest you to use it anymore until you sort out the 'burning' smell.
First of all thanks for your replys.
I pluged the charger on it and the red charging light came on after a while.
charged for over 6 hours and its still red? I think after been charged should change to green? right?
anyways after all that still doesnt want to turn on. I got it to start a couple of times but only to the point that shows the splash screen with the rom numbers and then it turns back off.
Should I give it a smash across the room on the wall? done that with some other things and worked just kiding.
Forgot to add that up to the point when i did the soft reset the device was working fine except the charge drop. Soft reset was done while it was working ( turned on)..... if thats any help.

That ain't gonna do jack sh1t to it. If it can't start to get into bootloader, it can't flash....and it's not a flash issue.
Usually the red light means power but not charging - happens to my qtek 9100 when I let it get too flat and I have to remove and insert the battery while the mains adaptor is attached - others have to 'jump start' the battery by directly connecting to a PSU - I wouldn't do this with yours.
From what you have said it sounds like a short somewhere. Any signs of water damage? Warranty? What Wizard do you have and what country are you in?
Richard
I got the wiza 200 O2 xda mini S from a guy in UK from ebay. The idiot sold me a cradle for it with an adaptor that says 12V on it (Like an idiot that I am i just noticed that) but then again how am I supposed to think that he gave me an adaptor that its not made for it when it says on the back of it "for Imate - Kjam". Do you guys think thats what burned the **** out of the unit ?
dont forget that some times turns on shows the ROMS numbers and turns off.
No water damage... I think its on warranty... I live in Greece.
Might not be the cradle - it could be it steps down internally to 5v. Use a meter and check what it outputs to the phone. Warranty with XDA's are 2 years to the *original* purchaser. As they are only supplied with an airtime agreement then that isn't you.
Richard
have you tried changing batteries to a new one? Seriously, thats the easiest thing you could do right now and you could actually get results.
Ok this is what I did.
Removed the baterry from the device,
got a 12V 1 Amp power supply that I had lying around and give it a few shots connecting it to the battery giving it an electro shock.
(If you're going to try this be very carefull.<<<< DONT LEAVE the power supply connected to the battery>>>> just give it a few shots 1 second on and off.
That was it.
It started working, device turned on and now its charging (I think) yellow light is on.
I'm going to leave it on for a few hours and see what happens.
Wish me good luck. I'll let you know soon.
ok... this is what happend.
Battery is drained and its not charging due to a blown fust on the main board.
I open the phone and placed and solder a little wire over the fuse.
Still does not charge. ^%$#%$#$^%$*
Before I replaced the fuse or should i say short it the yellow light would come on for a few min and then red again. Now when I charge the battery with another external power supply the pda comes on for a few mins and then dies again. ( no charging light whatsoever).
Does anyone know where to get a mainboard for it and about how much it costs?
Asking for help again.

Hey man, sorry to hear about that.
The best you can do is to claim your money from ebay.
You probably killed it when you pluged in the 12V PSU. That's 230% of the normal Volts! Otherwise sell it for parts.
I'm in the process of claiming the money back from the IDIOT that sold it to me.
Lets see if that part of Ebay works as good.

Doubt it. Did you ask the seller for help before opening the phone and voiding the original warranty on the device?

Not a good idea IMO as now the blame is on you as previously he may have been able to get warranty service from the original vendor.
Richard
I did ask.
He is not the original buyer.
what was I suposed to do.... track back 2-3 buyers to find the original... send it to him so he can have it repaired? Anyway it was out of warranty because of the burned fuse that says that some other charger was used with it.
I had a similar thing happen but fortunately not as bad as yours. Twice now my battery has mysteriously drained completely. The last time when I tried to turn the unit on, it flashed the boot screen for a couple of seconds then poof, no more juice. When I plugged it into the USB port, nothing, no lights, no charge, no recognition from Activesync, I thought the unit was fried. I use Tmobile and got to admit they did send me a replacement fairly quickly. Before I packed up my unit I thought maybe I should plug it in using the wall charger and presto, it came on and is working fine. I have no idea what causes this but do know that if the battery is completely discharged the USB port can not over come this to put a charge on.
Same thing happened to me, kind of strange though. The charge was perhaps 70% to the best of my knowledge. I flashed it with Mr. Clean ROM and booted it up.. it came in fine into WM5, then it started the installation of the 3 progs or whatever comes with Mr. Clean.. after the second finished the unit just died *poff*. Screen blank, no responce to power buttons or any other buttons for that matter.
I've tried taking out the battery for different intervals of time, no luck. I've tried using the AC charger, no luck. No lights, sounds, telepathy or matrix ****.. it just lies there like a dummy phone.. hmm what to do. Bought it from a guy in UK (im in sweden) on eBay, don't think I will have much luck there.. even though it's brand new...
Any thouhgts?
I have had this problem - I bought a replacement battery and all is now fine. Another thread in this group states that the battery cannot charge without the OS up - so if the battery is completely discharged then it is impossible to charge through the phone. The only solution seems to be somehow to charge the battery directly - as appears to have been done earlier in this thread.

p.s. if anyone knows of another way to do it I'd be interested to hear as I'd like to revive my old battery and keep it as a spare

Help! Weird problems on my jasjar

I have a jasjar recently and had problems turning off at 50 percent. It was working fine as long as power odesnt drop below 50 %. Then I bought a desktop charger (made in china) and started charging from there. That's when all this weird problems started.
When I put the fully charged battery inside sometimes it doesn't power on by pressing the power ubtton so I have to reset it to turn on. Sometimes it doesn't turn on with reset so I have to go to bootloader then reset just to turn it on. Sometimes it just won't turn on! If it does turn on sometimes the screen is white! When it does boot properly and go on standby. The lights blink but it won't wake up so I have to reset it. Sometimes while using it, the screen would just turn garbled white.
This don't happen all the time, Im actually typing this post using my jasjar and even if I charge the battery using the phone, it exhibits the same problems once in awhile.
SOLUTION FOUND!!! READ THE LAST THREAD
Any ideas? Could the battery be doing this or is my jasjar messed up? Please help!
I downgraded to wm 5 Helmi ROM and seems to work for now. I was using Helmi's wm6 so I don't know if that attributed to that. Will update.
Still didn't help.. Any ideas? Is my jasjar dying? Please help!
Battery issues
Here and elsewhere are postings which make it apparent that some after-market batteries don't work well with the Jasjar. Some electronic devices are relatively fussy about voltage and amperage levels, and some off-brand batteries are fairly wide of the mark in those regards. Not necessarily on the low side, either.
The problem is not limited just to computers. I had an electronic remote reading thermometer whose display went nuts; the manufacturer asked whether I was using EverReady or Duracell batteries. When I replied no, I was using Ikea batteries, they told me I had to use EverReady or Duracell batteries or I was likely to encounter the problem, and they're right: using those batteries fixed the problem. Not that the Ikea batteries were bad, mind you: their power level (voltage and amperage both) were actually too high, according to the manufacturer, and my VOM tester confirmed their assertion.
Somewhere on this forum is a link to an eBay supplier of batteries which work reliably in the Jasjar. Good hunting! Cheers,
Thanks but I'm using the original battery. So do you think that the desktop charger did something to the battery?
may be it caused by a desktop charger. When i used a chaeger made in chine for my alpine, sometime the screen goes white, or ALL buttons seems die (All button didn't work). The most terrible is that charger make my dive hard reset 2 times (first time i din't realise if it cause by my charger, then i just install all progs but when i charge, it hard reset again).
Even for 5 days after i bought it run well, except the ringtone goes on silent every time i charging.
Now i throw away that thing.
So its the charger!! GRRR...Anyways, even when I'm using the Jasjar to charge, everything is the same. Lockups from standby, white screen..You think I should try another battery? Any ideas?
Weird stuff / battery related?
Hi there,
dont know if anyone is reading this thread coz it is kinda old, but i have the same probs mention as above. I have the orginal bat and charger which came with the device. I also uses a car charger sold from my phone provider.
now after 14 months i have the weirdest things like shutting down randomly when the bat is about 58 thru 50 percent. I can not start the device again coz it stops in the middle of the boot process. It only starts when i connect it to a laptop by usb or to the standalone charger...
I tried differnt roms found here and radio roms but it doesnt help...
my guestion: does any one know if this prob is solved when I buy a new battery? or is it wise to thro out this universel suck device ( I have had so much probs with this device so neglect my tone...)

I bought my Universal (Jasjar), used, almost a year ago and use it daily. To date, I haven't had this problem, but I'm anticipating it. Yeah, I'd say it's almost surely your battery (they don't live forever), just be careful to replace it from a reliable source.
Sorry you don't like the device; I've thoroughly enjoyed mine! Cheers,
Hi,
I guess u r right, batteries will die. So I ordered a new one, I will let you guys know if it helps. I bought the qtek 35H00058-00M battery which is the orginal bat
The thing is, normally will a battery be faster drain so it would become faster 0 or 10 precent, instead this piece randomly shutting down or switches off in the middle of a phone call.
I have a Blue Angel as well, now for more then 2 years, which is charger daily just like mine unversal. The batt of the Blue Angel outruns the uni with bat life. Never had this weird stuff with the ba, like shuttingdown without a warning.
Well I will see if a new bat will fix the trouble, tomorrow my new bat will arrive.
cheers.
I also have the same issue with the 02 Exec. It switches it's self off when the battery reaches below 50%. I have ordered a new battery. Will let you know if this still happens once it arrives.
Well,
I already knew it but now its for sure at my end. HTC and ms together gives u pretty expansive CRAP.
Got my new battery which was carefully chosen because of other rumours of battery problems. I bought exactly the same battery from QTEK as the original.
Yesterday i got the battery, left it alone to get on room temp. this morning switch it with my old battery.
1. First thing what i found strange was that my **** device said it was at 100%
2. after 45 min I had the same bat prob as with my old battery
3. device can not be started on bat power, which would let u think that the bat would be ZERO procent. However turning the device on when on wall power this **** device says that the bat is 100%, but disconnecting it from the wall power it shutdowns right away.
conclusion:
the new battery is worse then the old bat. the only difference between them is the serial number. same type same manufacturer.
I was already think of buying a non HCT / Micro**** mobile device, but today after 14 months of trouble and losing important phone calls I am going to say good bye to this universal crap.
I wise u the best with our device but for me it ends here.
UPDATE:
Used a 3800 mah battery from expansys, made in Taiwan by Dyna and still same problems...not battery related at all...Anybody got a mainboard they can sell me...even a broken miniusb.
Problem and solution found
The Problem is a faulty voltage controller in the mainboard causing Bulverde CPU to hang and give funny colors to the screen
Solution is to disable Cpu scaling of Bulverde by using pocket hack master and setting speed at 312mhz before turning it of or closing the screen. You could always set it at 520 when using it but before turning it off make sure speed is 312. Hopefully this helps others with this problem.

Tytn Won't Charge

I have noticed that for the last week my Tytn won't always charge itself up either when its in its cradle or is being charged via the charging lead.
I have no idea what has brought this on. The solution I am using at the moment is to soft boot, which seems to solve the problem for a while. For the techies on here I am using the standard HTC Win5 Rom, straight out the box.
Has anyone come across this problem and, if yes, knows what the solution is please? It was only because my low battery alarm kicked in the other day that I realised there was a problem.
As I use the kit for work I cannot afford to have it not charge up.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
WB
Caveat - Yes, did search first on here and elsewhere before posting.
Could be hardware (at Device) / could be software. Without testing these things out it's impossible to say. I suppose a quick test of the physical contacts of the device would be to switch on and connect the charger and by gently moving the connection, see if the amber charging LED goes on off.
In the end I always think with this kind of problem a hard reset saves a lot of time testing this and that. If there is nothing you can pin down as an obvious change/installation you made before this started, then I'd do a hard reset.
Of course you are fully prepared for this with full backups taken at key installation stages?? - Hope so.
Mike
The only thing I've heard of is that using USB cables/cradles, car chargers and non-standard wall chargers (such as for motorola) are ok for trickle charging but if the battery goes low you need to use the original wall charger supplied with the phone.
I know this was the problem on my Wizard - wouldn't charge a low battery with a motorola charger but fine with the original.
Mike,
I think I will do a hard reset as a last, last, resort only if all other options are well and truly exhausted. I rebuilt the damned thing for the umpteenth time only 2 weeks ago and I absolutely don't want to go through that pain again.
The frustrating thing is that for the first time since I owned the Tytn (6 months) all the problems I did not know about before I bought it had finally been resolved (excepting the freezing of TomTom, which still remains outstanding).
So just when I thought I could finally start to rely on the Tytn as a fully functioning relible working tool we get this.
I owned a Sony P900 for over 3 and a half years as a business tool (grant you the PDA functionality was a tad restricted compared to the Tytn) and it never failed me once! If it wasn't for a problem with the touch screen and me thinking it was time for a change I would still be using it today.
Anyone else any other suggestions on this problem please? Wiggling the charging cable in the mini-usb port makes no difference. Only a reboot does at this time.
So damned frustrating!

hungry TyTN
Hi,
I have a similar problem. I had a go for the WM6 from LVSW (2007-05-19) and the latest Radio (1.41.00.10) and a brand new out of the box TyTN.. First thing I noticed was that the unit discharges itself very quickly. I've tried various radios without any good luck too. I think it killed my battery, at least it went so low that I could'nt recharge it normally. I had the RED LED blinking fast, constant RED and sometimes AMBER. My tip is to never let the battery fully discharge here.. I had to kickstart it with 3 AA-batteries in serial, and hooked up + and - wires to the TyTNs battery so it could have a little power, or else the TyTN would not charge it anymore. I assumed it could be my old SIM and/or the battery, so I went to th store and got a new battery as replacement for testing this. I am now able to charge, but I the power consumption is far beyond what I expect, it is like 341 ma read with ABC Power Meter....! Even with radio off, wifi off, receive incoming beams off, BT off, screen to minimum brightness, nada... I was expecting a lot less... This hungry device will not last many hours, and the battery does even produce much heat during standby operation, which is not good besides from a hand-warmer in the pocket during winter time maybe... I have also tried using Bandswitch to disable UMTS as maybe the UMTS reception here is not super good, but still working... Even talking on the phone while charging it drains the battery heavily.... to empty...
Besides from all this the WM6 from LVSW seems to be super quick and stable, maybe the very best one to pick for a HERMES.
I am desperate to find a conclusion here...
heeelp..
Update:
I happened to purchase a faulty device!!! There was indeed a HW error on my brand new device so I got it swapped with another one that works. Not all problems are SW-bugs..
Thought I would come back on this thread.
In the end I had to do a hard reset and rebuild as other problems started to manifest themselves and rebuilding became the easiest option.
Rebuilding has solved the problem; however it might interest you to note that this time I rebuilt the Tytn just like I would build a PC. The OS built itself first, with its associated apps, then I added any other additional OS tools, eg SPB Mobile Shell. I then grouped my apps into a logical order and installed them one by one.
After each install I rebooted the PPC, checked that the last app installed ran ok, then tested every other app to see if they ran as well BEFORE installing the next app. This process was a little tedious but it seems to have paid off.
I have to say though that having rebuilt this piece of kit from scratch at least 20 times in the last 6 months, I just cannot count on it as a reliable business tool in the same way as I did with my previous Symbian device. Shame given how much I spent on it.
When my next upgrade is due a Windows mobile device WON'T be on my list!
WB
Wacky - Get a full back-up tool like SPB backup and you can avoid all that pain. Hard Reset to Restoring a full backup - 10 minutes maybe. Much better than re-installing all those apps everytime you hard reset. And you can create a backup before and after each installation if you wish.
Mike
Mike,
Thanks for the tip. Must admit I had not thought of using SPB backup in the way that you suggest (can't see the wood for the trees sometimes).
Now that I think I have a stable system I will back it up using this tool and create a "line in the sand", in terms of a good system backup.
I still remain to be convinced on the stability/suitability for sustained business use though.
Appreciate your input.

Similar (Battery Meter) Problem
This week, my phone reset for some reason and came up with the screen which shows the current IPL and SPL. The phone still has all the apps and data I installed, so it was not a hard reset. This happened with a 1/2 charge on the battery.
Since that happend a full charge now shows as a 1/2 charge only on the meter and this is as high as the meter will show. The phone still lasts just as long, so there is no physical battery problem.
Anyone know how to fix this without a true hard reset.
Thanks
Mardig,
The only suggestion I have is to hard reset the unit and then rebuild it from scratch. Worked for me.
In any case it may be advisable to do this as it sounds like you have other problems.
Once rebuilt I suggest you take up Mike Channon's suggestion to get a tool and backup the device. That way if you have further problems you at least have a line in the sand to refer back to.
By the way, I am not ruling out a hardware problem in your case. However my starting point would be my suggestions above.
Good luck

Strange TyTN behavior when charging
I bought a car charger for my TyTN and used it for ~4-5 months without a problem. One day a fuse went off and after replacing it with a new one and connecting to TyTN, a TyTN stopped charging completely. I checked at home with an original wall charger - nothing. I was stupid enough to try the same car charger with my second TyTN - not surprisingly it burned the other one too :-(
I got them both fixed, a car charger replaced with a new one, so everything should have been working fine. The following happened:
1. First time a car charger is connected, it works fine and the TyTN is charging.
2. Disconnecting a charger and reconnecting it back after couple of seconds restart charging, however this stops after 1 sec and the screen shows as it is not connected.
3. Repeating step 2 does nothing - no charging starts at all.
4. Soft reset - go back to step 1.
5. When TyTN off and car charger connected - charging is working - amber light is on.
6. Wall charger (original), TyTN on or off - charging is working - amber light is on.
I did hard reset as well thinking it might be a broken driver problem, but it didn't help. Tomorrow will try to reload ROM.
Any ideas?
Help will be appreciated (before I take it back to lab and spend another $40 for repair)
Cheers

This is a known issue. It also appears you've realised the soft reset workaround:
In Car charging
(May be relevant to USB/Mains charging also)
Hermes only charges when switched off
Pulling out charger lead (or interrupting power supply) while charging in car (with device on or off ) may result in Hermes only charging while turned off
Possible Solution:
a.) Connect charger with power on
b.) Switch on Hermes
c.) Soft reset whilst connected
Hermes should now charge whilst on or off.
I charge mine in the car but I do not use a car charger but a 12 volt to 240 volt inverter - so I can plug in a mains charger. Never have problems with this and I can also use it to power my laptop.
Examples here of cheap and expensive ones - small ones and large ones:

Hi Mike.
Thanks for your prompt response.
I did read that thread, however it seems that it doesn't explain point 2 in my explanation, does it?
Update: tried the method explained, however the situation is still the same - both points 2 and 5.
Regarding the DC-AC inverter - do you use a wall charger or USB output (if there is one, I found one that has both main and USB).

Unless I misunderstand something - one of the primary causes of the problem is the disconnection whilst charging leading to a refusal to charge when re-connected. To quote my post:
"Pulling out charger lead (or interrupting power supply) while charging in car (with device on or off ) may result in Hermes only charging while turned off "
I realise of course this does not explain things and is just a statement about what happens.

THe funny thing is that the other TyTN I have doesn't suffer the same behavior and charges fine, even though I disconnected and connected many times while charging.
Yeap, it's strange, unexplainable and most of all extremely annoying.
Thansk a lot for your help.
Solved!!!
Hi.
I am happy to tell that I managed to figure out how to overcome that problem. I hope it will work for all users - I tried it with 2 different TyTNs and it was OK.
The solution is to plug/unplug the USB charger only when the device is off - not a complete shutdown by long press on Power button, but a short one.
If it's OK, when plugging the lead the power button lights up in <1 sec. If not, it takes ~5 sec to go on.
Best regards,
i discovered today....when i plugged my hermes into the car charger, that it wasnt charging.
after a soft reset it charged. an then.....no problems untill about 22:00 pm. i plugged it again and...same thing, it needed a reset to charge.
what could cause this? igo may way and bluetooth gps. coz i think this is the reason.

Battery Won't Charge

hey, i got the leo just over two weeks ago, and swapped my orange sim for my o2 sim (my phone is unlocked) yesterday night. This morning the phone did not charge at all and i still cannot get it to charge, i have tried via the wall plug and plugging into my PC. At the top of the phone there is a green LED flash and then an orange one.
Any ideas as to why it wont charge, im still under guarentee so if its any problems with the battery etc. i am sure i can get it replaced, Thanks in advance.
i've tried taking out the SIM then turned it on and off, that didn't work. I then tried the same but with the SanDisk card. Still no hope.
Hi, sorry to here about your troubles but it is nothing I haven't seen before. Hope this helps.

Try to release all the energy of the battery, then plug the usb cable to computer, us your PC to charge it.If it dosen't work, congrats then, you are in the same situation as me,
-order a new battery replacement see if it's sloved, if not, send it to HTC for repair.
btw, just curious, are you in Canada as well...?
hi i have the same problem solution is simple you just bend middle pin that connect battery bend it down a little and it should works
Thanks mmpl, I am gonna try that, I wish that may solve my battery drain problem as well.
nah im not Canadian, from the UK. The place i bought it from said i could send it to them and they can check it, if they can't fix it they'll send a new one to me
WOW! amazingly, i had no hope in it. But i did play around with the middle pin just a slight tap backwards and then *forced* the usb into my phone and computer, it switched on switched off i unplugged my phone is did a white screen flash, but it is now holding the solid orange LED of life! i can't understand what on earth was wrong, and it could still not charge but the LED seems to be correct!
Unfortunately i am now experiencing this with a replacement battery from China. It flashes green and orange when plugged in and won't charge. Original battery works normal. Well... back to seller.
Problem Fixed!
Thanks mmpl. The middle prong on the HD2 that connects the battery was pointing slightly up from horizontal (and it looks different than the two prongs and seems a little limp/loose); I pushed it down a little so it's just slightly down from horizontal; put the battery in and that fixed it! Thank you for posting the solution!!!
My symptoms were that the battery indicator icon in the title bar would switch to full bars when plugged in (did not show the plug icon in the title bar as it should have), but when I click on the battery indicator icon the sub screen (showing the battery) would show the actual state of the battery, e.g., 30% with one bar.
I've been also having freeze-up problems when dialing out, thereby requiring a re-boot (take the battery out or push the reset pin) once or twice every day (I'm on the phone a lot however), and maybe the daily removal/re-install of the battery weakened the prong.

Hi, I also have purchased a cheap replacement battery from China as a backup for my Samsung i500. I cannot charge this battery in the phone! I get a pop window when I connect my charging cable that states; "battery is not connected"! The stock original Samsung OEM battery charges in the phone just fine.
I wonder what the problem is?

Thanks mmpl, I had not even considered the pin until I read your post.
I know this is the wrong thread for xperia ray, but I just wanted to say that this is something that could happen to absolutely every phone. The middle pin on my ray was stuck in, so far in that it would not connect properly to the battery. By getting a sewing needle in and tinkering it back out it now connects and charges properly.
Also, I hear that if you have flashed your phone you may need to re-calibrate it. If your phone is rooted, you can do this with the aptly named app called BatteryCalibration. Worth considering I think.

Focus charging sound notification

My Focus all of sudden started continuously playing the notification sound that is played when we connect the charger. Even after restart its still there. I took out the battery and when booted the phone started playin the charger connected notification sound.
Same Here
I have the same problem. Called Samsung and trouble shot the problem with no success. Called AT&T Warranty Support Technical Service and spent a half hour with no success. Was told by AT&T TS:
. Known MS WP7 issue
. MS is working on it
. Will be fixed in upcoming update
. Probably caused by a virus while web browsing (laughed at that one)
. They have seen many complaints about this issue
One guy on YouTube actually had his mini USB plug and connector melt. This issue also does not let your screen shut off. I found that you need to experiment with the unplug sequence when unplugging from PC and charger. Mine does it rarely anymore, if I can remember how I did this I will post.
Theres a hack in the registry that will lower the sound , Im sure you might be able to turn it off from there as well

I also have this problem. I tried replacing the battery, soft & hard resetting. nothing changed. I have tried multiple ways to disconnect and connect the phone to the charger and that doesn't do the trick also. the battery charging indication and beep are constantly playing, so the screen cannot be locked and the battery drains.
After doing a soft reset the phone doesn't stay off, it inmediately comes back on again. The same happens when I remove the batt. The only way for it to stay off is if I remove the battery and wait a while, like a minute and something. I reinsert the battery and the phone stays off.
I looked in MSFT forums and all over the internet and the amount of information is quite limited. No solution has been posted (at least none that I have found).
Also, I cannot exchange the phone 'cause I bought it unlocked over the Internet.
If anyone has any info I am sure that all the affected people will really appreciate it.
Oh. Good to know that I am not alone on this issue. I had searched the net and didnt see anyone with this issue.. I hope this gets solved in the coming update. Cause my Focus all of a sudden at anytime starts doing this. Its embarrassing when this happens in the elevator and public places and especially when you are the only one in ur friends havin a WP7 and others a Android or iPhone.
It so wierd that for any issue the TechSupport people say that 'this issue will be solved in the update'.. I hope it does!!
Hey found this forum while searching for people with this problem - so hey.
My phone (which I bought on eBay) started doing this a couple of nights ago, I eventually got to stop by doing the following (think I read this elsewhere on the net, but don't recall where):
Plug phone into charger (and charger into wall socket).
Unplug the charger from the wall socket.
Unplug the charger from the phone
Plug the charger back into the phone and out again.
Amazingly that worked for me and 3 days later I'm still ok. I've no idea if I just got lucky, or whether that sequence actually does something. Be interested to hear from others.
This thread on MS Answers is also worth a read:

Hardware issue, not software
Hi all, according to an ATT rep "this is caused by a manufacturing problem where the micro-usb power/sync connector is not always reliably soldered to the PCB". I tend to believe this because none of the software solutions seem to work (rebooting, putting it back to the previous version, etc).
Go to the ATT support forum and seach Samsung. There are a few threads about this issue. I was trying to post the links but I guess since I'm new here, they dont let me.
if it is a hardware defect (which it does seem to be) i'd contact samsung and they should have you send it in for repair/replacement regardless of if you bought it from ebay or CL or whatever, all the phones should still be under 1 year old, and as such, under warranty.
mine did the same thing i had it in my front pocket and it started to rain kinda got the top a little wet... and had the charging port open.... it started dong the charging sound after about an hour.... everthing i did didn;t work.... come to find out i had a piece of lint in the charging port and when it got wet i shorted out...... got the lint out and has been fine.... been three months now and still working great....
It definately has to do with the USB port shorting, i read somewhere that separating the flap inside the micro USB from the wall, it seems if some kind of debris inside the port can short, or also the flap seems to bend if you plug the cable the wrong way.
In mi case it seems the flap was bent, what i did was carefully separate the little flap from the wall, and it worked, the first time it did not work, but i inserted an old simcard in there and left it for a couple hours, it seems it was enough to fix this
PS. Sorry for my bad english
