I don't know, but I just submitted about 20 made up ones, all with a temporary email address.
It would be a shame if other people did the same
What they do is to use your real IMEI in a Phone, probably a knock off of apple, htc, nokia and so go on. Fake mobile phones ; )
Any luck? if true it would be great. I don't know why though I think it is some sort of scam.
So?
So what's the big deal if they use your imei in some fake phone? Are there any ramifications for the owner of the imei

Other than the system will not let duplicate IMEI's work at the same time, so if someone clones your phone, you could end up with a non working phone ...
OR the worst case , it does let them on and they get your calls and vice versa ...
So legally I don't think it would hurt the original owner, but could end up hurting in other ways ....
May be they need personal emails, not imei nubers.
For fishing, hacking and ...... etc.

hi. could you please tell us, how one can do the same, without having an actual t-mobile number (without signing in to their site)?
Will appreciate.
Doesn't T-mobile have a web chat on their support page, and I think you can just get an unlock code that way, provided you've been a customer for a year or something like that.
I read they will actually request the unlock code from HTC. I did it 3 weeks ago and I got the unlock code in the next 24h so I believe it is reliable although not instant if you're a TMO customer. you might as well try to contact HTC if they have a customer service in your country.
My problem was then that my phone never asked for the unlock code so it happened to be useless. I don't know if it's because I have a custom rom on my phone or what but it never prompted me for the unlock code although I followed the steps they recommend (shut down, insert different sim, turn on...)
So I'm on T-Mobile and everytime I call, they give me a total BS code and it doesn't unlock ANYTHING =/
Can someone give it a try for me? I can provide you with the EMEI.
Please and thanks!
Sorry to tell you this, tmo will not give out the code unless the phone have been used on the account for 90 days for the person that is calling in.

I saw many people doing it before, as long as they have a Vibrant that's 90 days or older, T-Mobile will give them the code.
And have we tried the SGS_unlock program from the market yet ?
Why yes, it does work, thank you for asking.
Actually, it doesn't work for me. I also tried the PC program. All failed.
I actually even called T-Mobile as stated in my first post, but they gave me a bunch of BS codes.
Last option.
There is two unlock programs from the market. Only the Galaxy S unlock by Helroz worked for me and not the SGS unlock.
Dattack what ROM are you running?
I am using the Bionix v1.2 right now. I have using a telcel sim when I go to baja mexico and the unlocking by Helroz has always worked for me. I think there is an xda thread on the unlocking started by helroz. good luck.

Not sure how they did it back then, but when I called in to unlock a phone that I have not used, they wouldn't give me the unlock code because I didn't use it with my number for 90 days. Maybe a nice rep might hook it up, but from my experience they will give you the same bs with their 90 day policy.

Try troubleshooting the unlock methods in their respective threads. The unlock java program worked for me. There are several ways to do it, in all likelihood one should work.
Avoid user error.
maybe you did something wrong on your phone that's why the unlock code won't work for you. Yes that happened to me but the method posted here worked for me.

Go to one of the stores and call them for the unlock code from there. Then, if it doesn't work you can get the store manager to intervene or better yet get them to exchange the phone.

lol the store manger can't do anything about a subsidy unlock. Beyond that, OP seems to be ignorant about unlocking the phone, instead blaming faulty codes on someone else.
When an official subsidy is filed, it goes to an unlock team who contacts the manufacturer, and is specific to the IMEI of the device. Chances are, if the OPs code didn't work, they weren't following instructions on entering it in, or never provided accurate info for the unlock.

Wow what a wonderful evening. Decided to unlock my bootloader on my VZW Dev Edition tonight. The Motorola Unlock website keeps telling me that my device is ineligible. I start a live chat and they tell me based on IMEI that my device does not qualify. Then they look up my order (from motorola.com) and they find out that my device IS a dev edition. He then tells me that my software has been modified. WTF! I just got this thing and haven't even unlocked the bootloader! Fastboot reports that it's locked! I am then told to contact them tomorrow to talk to Tier 2 Support. I am beyond angry at this moment...

I would suggest just calming down and go thorough with the tech support. While it's quite frustrating, it was just a bug in the system. Being frustrated and angry will only make you mad, and will not achive anything. When you talk to support, if you are mad they are much less likely to help you. Your problem will be resolved, but likely there is nobody here who can help. Just talk to Motorola and it will be fixed. Hardware defects happen all the time. It is just a software bug.
If you do get an unlock code, you could post it here and maybe we can find the formula to get the codes for unlockable imeis. Just a stab in the dark, but worth a try.

OK, well then I would tell Tech Level 2 to escalate it because it takes a few days for Tech Level 3 to call you back. You can try waiting a few days for the IMEI to make it into the unlock database, too, but I wouldn't wait more than 1 week from the ship date before pestering them to get on it.

No its not linked to the same account. I bought mine on eBay and was able to unlock it. Just make sure that the account linked to your phone - the account shown where you have the quick toggles on the status bar is the one used when try to unlock it.
I had a few problems because I didn't realize that there were spaces when I pasted it into box. Just copy it into a word document and remove the spaces. Then paste into the section and the unlock request button will show at the very bottom of the page.

So it arrived! I'm now a very happy Moto X (Dev Edition) owner. And exactly as you said it's only linked to the account it's currently signed in with.
I was thinking, what are the chances a Samsung or ATT employee would leak the necessary files to unlock the bootloader. Surely they have the know-how/files somewhere, and know that hundreds of people want the bootloader to be unlocked. Truly, they would leave most phones alone since I'm sure most of us XDA members barely make up a fraction of the total Android phones..
It shouldn't be that hard for an employee to get the necessary files for this, right? I'm not a hacker by any means, but I do love customizing my phones and having what bootloader and rom I want on it.
Any thoughts?
I doubt Att even has it. They ordered them from Samsung with this bootloader. I would think that Samsung would have to release a new bootloader chain to unlock it.

You won't get back your warranty and un-locking the bootloader again means a full system wipe, again. So make a backup first.
The only big advantage of a locked bootloader is the added security when the device falls into the wrong hands. That's a bit of a double edged sword since it also forbids easy data recovery in the case of defective hard- or software.
fastboot oem lock begin
When trying to run "fastboot oem lock," fastboot tells me to run "fastboot oem lock begin," first. In turn, that command tells me to fully flash the signed build before I can lock it.
I've tried flashing "LUX_RETCA_6.0.1_MPD24.107-52_cid14_subsidy-TELUS_CFC" from the filefactory repository, and I'm downloading "XT1563_LUX_RETCA_6.0.1_MPD24.107-52_cid14_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC" now, which will take all day.
Does anyone know if either of those builds are signed? Or is there an official motorola repository that I should look for?
I got the phone with MM, so I don't know if a 5.1.1 image will count as signed for the purpose of relocking.

If my phone *doesn't work* because of hardware defects, then the hardware in it is of poor quality. It's not about how the phone stacks up to other devices. It's that the phone I paid for is defective. Not sure where the confusion arises.

Now you're arguing semantics. Poor hardware, faulty hardware, the thing remains that it's a crappy, broken device. Doesn't matter what label you want to slap on it, I can't afford another one, and they'll blame me for a problem that has nothing to do with root. So, it's bad.

I assume you were asking the OP, but I thought I would add my two cents as they may be helpful.
When trying to type "fastboot oem lock" and receiving the warning to type "fastboot oem lock begin" first, I was a little confused, as typing both in a row did not work. I presume that it's due to a difference in hardware model, (mine is having more than enough weird issues to make that a reasonable assumption.)
The solution was to type "fastboot oem lock begin," go through the commands in this post, then type "fastboot oem lock" at the end. I avoided the final two commands, and it still showed software status as modified, so perhaps including those as well would fix that. Either way, the bootloader status was set back to "Locked" (not "Relocked.") Hope that helps someone, as this POS refuses to charge and I may as well throw it in the trash!

Unfortunately your warranty is void due to your request for the unlocking code from moto. Your only hope is koodo has its own repair facility and the tech who tries to repair your device has no brains or desire to verify that your bootloader was unlocked.
