I wrote an application with Widget which works just fine in 2.1 and earlier.
As 2.2 rolling out I jump in to update the android:installLocation to allow my application to be installed in SD card. As I try to move to SD card, my widget get deleted.
This is what I found in Logcat
Code:
E 110 Launcher.Model Deleting widget that isn't installed anymore: id=4 appWidgetId=4
Anybody experiencing this?
Edit: I should add that the error in Logcat only appear when I have the widget on the Home screen. Widget get removed without the error still.

recently I am having a strange behavior each time I uninstall an app which is installed on the Sd card: the following msg appears
The application could not be removed properly. Do you wnat to remove it from the list of installed applications?
I say yes and it simply removes the entry from the list, of course: then i have to go manually and delete app folder and link.
Any1 knows why? And if some traces will be left behind?
Thanks
If that message appears you can try this:
1. Click on "No".
2. Softreset the device.
3. Try it again.
Make sure that:
1) The SD is not write protected (check the little switch)
2) No part of the program is running / used - not today plugin, menu addon anything.
program is not running
sd is not write protected
no today plugins
and did soft reset many times but still the same problem, for all applications
I am facing the very same problem. The apps do not uninstall at all and their entries from the 'remove programs' is lost.
I was getting this error for a while now. So here is the whole thing.
I was using JF1.5 along with Lucid's script. And I started getting errors such as...
"The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly."
along with, what seemed like, every other application I tried to use. I noticed that it was right about the time that JF1.51 came out, so I thought that maybe the programs I was using got updated without the system being updated or whatever.
I bricked my phone about 1000 times but, with a ton of help from Lucid, I was able to repair the error on the SD card and was problem free... for about a week.
Working fine this morning, I rebooted my phone and am now having the error again every time I try to open a messaging program. I was using ChompSMS the first time and am now using Handcent SMS. I have uninstalled both of them and cannot even open the stock messaging program without getting the error and need to force close.
I did the same steps as last time (as far as I can remember) which were:
- Factory wipe
- Apply JF1.51 update
- Download and run Lucid's script to get e2fsck
- Running e2fsck to make sure no errors
- Run Lucid REM for apps, data and dalvik
When I restart my phone I also get the same error from PF Voicemail+ but the option to wait is also there.
I am driving myself crazy trying to fix it. Everything I have searched for seems to only be problems with images, but mine is even opening the SMS program. BAHHHHHH!!!!!!
JF1.51 w/ Lucid REM
8GB SanDisk MicroSD HC
any news on that?
I also have an com.android.mms error.
Has anyone had any issues with widgets either disappearing or just not being available on froyo?
My cube widget is no longer available even though the app is installed. It was running when i first installed it, however i remember rebooting one day and it said Problem loading widget ( and was never available in list from that day on).
I also installed the SiMi Folder app but the widget is not in the list :\
Did you try re-installing the app? Also if you're rooted, wiping dalvik-cache might help I think. It won't erase your settings or data...
Ensure widgets aren't on the SD card

I think you're right with that one.. Although i also remembered that i did an adb command last time to force apps to sd...
but for some reason i thought that this would be fine as long as i move the widgets i install back to the phone.
Anyways i reverted the command i think it was pm setInstallLocation or something like that and it seemed to fix things..
Hi community! i have a little problem. since a few hours i am not able to open my drafts-folder anymore. if i choose folder->drafts my mail programm quits with following errormessage:
"The application Mail (process com.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
-- -so i was searching for a fix for this problem. one possible solution was to delete all data over application-manager (settings->manage applications->All->Mail->Clear Data).
it worked only as long as i saved another message in draftsfolder.
-- i also tried to use ROM Manager's option to "Fix Permissions". that worked a few times for other problem, but not this time.
-- i was using DL.DesireZ.v3.3.final.nand by dandiest and yesterday i flashed to new version 3.5. i thought my problem was gone, but its still there..
i dont know why this is happen even if i flashed a new version..
thanks for any suggestions
greetings
EDIT: excess message database over root:
Ok, i did it. i've found a *.db file in rootsystem. /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/mail.db
in this file is all you need. accounts, messages, settings etc.
with an explorer which is able to access root its possible to view and edit this file. i've got my message back (at least the content), now i will try to look what keeps my mailprogramm quitting.

How to deinstall HTC Skins?
i now know why this error happens to me. i now started gparted and formated my sdcard (fat and ext4) and flashed again< the error was gone. haha
so i started to set up my phone and reinstalled my applications. to be sure i tested every time i installed an application my drafts folder.
after install of a HTC Sense Skin called "rEVOlution" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801928 my mail programm brings the same error as before when i want to access drafts:
"The application Mail (process com.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
so for me this skin causing this error. i know have to know how to deinstall it?
edit: yes thats it. if i change back to default htc skin i am able to access drafts... weird.
solved
to remove the skin and get rid of this error (in this case) you have to delete following files and folder:
/data/data/com.htc.skin.revolution
/data/app/com.htc.skin.revolution-1.apk
then restart. done.

Issues: There might be FC with gmail, then just clear your gmail user data in app settings.

Hi all,
I am wondering if there is a way to add/remove widgets from the list? I have downloaded a few widgets from the market but they are not showing up on my widgets list when I long-press the desktop and select widgets. There are a few misc. widgets that came with the cyanogen ROM like, Home Screen Tips Playstore and Torch.
I downloaded Barnacle Wifi Widget - $1.99 from the market but it is not showing up under widgets list or apps.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
BUMP. Anyone have any ideas about this? Or perhaps a work-around method?
Resolved my own issue...No replies, no links, no help. What's the point of a forum?
Anyways, the widgets were not showing in the list because I moved them to the SD card (google search "problem loading widget reboot").
FIX: I used TitaniumBackup to move to the apps back to internal storage (this alone will fix the issue) and rebooted the phone into recovery, wiped dalvik cache, wipe cache, fix permissions, and rebooted.
You could've gone to Settings>Applications>SD card and moved them over to the internal memory.
