I glanced over the forums here and haven't found this trick listed.
If you want Hulu working on the FroYo:
Open Browser And Type "about:debug" (Without Quotes) In The URL Bar
Press The Menu Button
Settings > UAString > Desktop
Enjoy Hulu On Android!

Dang. I looked there, too. That's what I get for thinking I know something.

yeah, it works. For a few minutes. Then it stops.

Thanks!
Works for me. Just watched a full episode of Family Guy.

only worked for a couple minutes for me too. But it worked.. a little choppy still. Hope to see flash video get optimized soon.

works great thanks ! i was just cussing the crap out of hulu for not working with flash on android. lol

Apparently it is not hardware optimized yet so that is the reason for the choppy video. But flash games and sites work great.

Thanks man, works for me too

Doesn't work anymore =(
They're catching on to us
edit: never mind, it still works. the browser reseted its' settings. I had to set it back to desktop again.

not working for me. the load up bar stop half way or 3/4 of the way and just gets stuck. any help? im running froyo on the ATT nexus one

This doesn't seem to be working any more. At least not for me. I'm on Froyo with Flash, and it gets to the point of the "Loading" spinner on a video for about 5-10 seconds, then displays "Unfortunately Hulu is not supported on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience."
I double-checked the UAString setting, set it back to Android, then back to Desktop again.
Think we might have to use another method to spoof Hulu.

HULU stopped working for me as well. Looks like they filtered our device info again

meh never worked for me. Got as far as the pre-loading commercials a few times but then the usual "not supported" error. (but supported enough to show me the commercials? LOL)

You guys can thank Engadget lol

Initially Hulu was using the User Agent to detect a mobile browser.
I am guessing that they are now checking the Flash version and platform, using the System.capabilities.version method.
If that is the case, there will not be a workaround unless someone hacks the version info of Flash itself - possible I suppose, but not very likely.

flash was hacked

I couldnt find where anyone mentioned this method of watching hulu...i have the phonemypc application so i can just use it to remotely go to my laptop or desktop and it doesnt have sound yet but the devs say it will soon but its otherwise easy to watch hulu.
Before froyo when id be interacting with my pc remotely if there was video it was like 1 frame per minute but now flash is utilized and it looks pretty damn good, and im guessing other remote desktop apps may have sound so thats at least a step in the right direction if you dont want to have to keep implementing "workarounds"... just FYI...

Hulu Denies Android 2.2 Flash Player!?!? MUST SEE

So reading up on this. It is not official that I know of at this moment.
But hulu was a no show for Google I/O 2010, and this was found
TECH.ICRONTIC.COM----Hulu is another big name at the top of everyone’s list when Flash is mentioned, but they’ve decided to sit this one out. Hulu has blocked Android 2.2’s Flash player citing copyright concerns; their content providers don’t want to be seen on any device but the desktop.

PC WORLD.COM---Missing from all of this Flash action, of course, is Hulu. I was really disappointed when I tried-and ultimately failed-to watch an episode of "30 Rock" on the Nexus One. According to Adobe, Hulu does not own distribution rights for their content on mobile devices and therefore cannot stream video to smartphones. With no Hulu on the iPad and no Hulu on your Android phone, isn't time for Hulu to develop an app? Let's hope so.

UPDATE: The news seems to be true, as I am awaiting an email from HULU. Will post ASAP
Update: Hulu is refusing to comment, however you cannot play hulu on android flash. BUT there is a trick...See here
Apparently Hulu doesn't have the rights to broadcast their content to any non-desktop devices. That's something they'll have to sort out with the networks.
They also go on to say that this could very well be a temporary lock as Flash hasn't hit the mobile market in full yet. Once it's out on the handsets (~Jun 17th) that lock will probably be lifted. Also, I wouldn't worry so much. If you have a rooted phone, you can always use a proxy and change your UserAgent to something that is supported.
Change your user agent to desktop (through about:debug) and it loads fine.
The videos play badly though. Audio comes in clear, but the framerate is terrible, more like a slideshow.

Stock Chrome browser. Type that in, hit enter, and go to settings. All the way at the bottom you have the option to change your user agent (among other things) to Android, Desktop (as OSX IIRC), and iPhone.

This is of Froyo, but it's an early non accelerated Flashplayer 10.1
I've read hulu blocks all non-desktop users because they can't control who see's it. Technically I think it is only legal for U.S. residents to watch the shows on hulu and if it is a mobile phone they can't detect where they are.

Sorry to kill your post, but you never see a hulu video working. This actually supports that HULU is not letting us view vids
Hulu is likely finishing their pay subscription licensing issues before rolling out full video support to mobile devices.
I'd be surprised if they werent working on both at the same time. Hopefully we will see the mobile audience addressed when the "new" Hulu is released.

He only had XX amount of time for the video and didn't want to waste it waiting for it to load, if you read the article he says it did load and play the video, he just had to move on during the filming since he wanted to show other stuff on the video.
Edit: Here is the quote:
"I then visited Hulu.com. All of the content on Hulu.com worked as intended by the designers of the web site. I was able to navigate and play various videos with few problems. Video playback worked just as it does on a desktop web browser. I did the same with MTVMusic.com, which is a great place to watch music videos for free. All the video played just fine."
I frequent that site a fair ammount, and their review videos follow the same format, they don't like waiting for stuff to happen, and they try and keep them inside a time limit... we asked about it once, and they said they like to keep their videos to 7 minutes or less.
I also asked in the "discuss" tab about it, for further clarification. They respond pretty quickly, but might not until tomorrow since it is late in the day.

Right, which was my point. They're not going to be blocking mobile users by IP addresses, which is their only method of blocking aside from user agents (which are easily spoofed).
I can also watch Hulu videos on the Desire ROM, with Dolphin Browser HD (which uses the Flash 10 Lite from the ROM) and by setting my user agent to 'Desktop'. Apparently they haven't made all the proper modifications to block us entirely.

Web Pages Show In Mobile View

All my webpages are showing in mobile view. I have looked all through the settings and cannot find the option to make everything show up like I am on a PC.
Does anyone know if this can be done, I have been able to do this on my previous HTC phones. I have loaded Dolphin Browser HD and Xscope but they still both also show some pages in mobile view.
Thanks.
I have the same problem
I've tried every thing to and it won't disable mobile views anyone have ideas
After playing with different settings in multiple browsers, if you download xscope browser and tell it your an ipad it makes everything show up correctly. I tried desktop view in that browser but some things still came up as mobile view.
Egads, this is my #1 annoyance. although this is a Google thing and not Samsung, per se. HTC Sense however has an option in the browser settings to disable mobile view pages from coming up (doesn't disable WAP capability though so you can still open a wap page manually).
i tried the manual method where you enter that debug command in the address bar and then go into the settings where you can change it from mobile to desktop (and iphone lol) views and other phones the 'desktop' view takes care of it, but i tried it on the Vibrant and then it renders the browser unusable until you reset the browser.
I came to this site to post about this but someone beat me to it. I hope there is a solution out there. I also think its really stupid that these websites think they need to show android phones their mobile views.
Maybe someone can push one of the other ROM's browser .apk to this phone. The browser on the rom I'm using has an option in the settings to change your User Agent.
Hey guys/gals, try something out for me (I don't have a V so I can't)
Open up your stock browser.
Type “about:debug” in the address line and press enter. (No quotations)
Hit “menu” and then select “Settings.”
You should now see all kind's of debugging settings including "UA String"
Click that and select "Desktop"
Let us know if it worked
Thanks!

AFter typing about:debug in the browser address window you have to press menu, then settings and then go down to the bottom and look for UAstring. That is how it works on the Nexus. I don't have a Vibrant yet either but it is on the way.

May be Sammy did something to the Browser app... can we get few more confirmations that it in fact does not work?
Other solution could be to rip out Browser.apk out of CM 2.1 rom and try installing or ADB pushing it to the system.

Hulu app no longer works in full screen + New Flash apk

Can someone check to see if their hulu app works in full screen mode? Mine cuts off about half of the picture.
I think this may be due to a change to Hulu, the way videos load and ads play look different today...
Edit: Also rcxquake just released a modified version of the new flash that was just released. I have not tested it but you can get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7734690&postcount=223
I confirmed with a few other testers using various ROMs, it looks like the hulu app does not work properly anymore. The newly released hacked flash (no credit to me, see linked post) does seem to work. However, it does not fix the problem
i thought hulu blocked our browser identification, or proxy or whatever it is we use to get android internet...they charge iphone users $9.99/month, so they don't want us to get it for free.
It's blocked but Nexus users found an exploit around it. Up until a few hours ago it worked perfectly for the Dinc but now all of a sudden in full screen mode half the video is cut off.
o man this sucks right when i rooted i hope some one can fix this
i just tried something if you click on watch highres it takes you some where else .. then when i click full screen it works alot better
the audio sounds slowww ???

Here is a temporary resolution for the Hulu problem.
1. Open your stock browser and let your home page load.
2. Erase everything in the address bar and type "about:debug" and press return (note: nothing will appear to have happened; that's good.)
3. Press Menu and select Settings.
4. Scroll all the way to near the bottom and select UAString and change it to Desktop.
5. Press Back to exit Settings.
6. Clear the address bar and type this address into it: "http://www.hulu.com/widget/player/videos" and press Enter
7. You may have to adjust the zoom to get it larger.
8. This is just like the Hulu app, but you can change your orientation to landscape by tilting your phone. Then pinch and zoom to get the video to fill the screen, but do not tap and hold the video to make it full screen.

Quick fix for us UK guys unable to view BBC iplayer properly!

Thanks to ryude and others for this:
Go to google.com and in the URL bar, type; about:debug then hit go.
Not much happens but press menu button/more scroll to bottom, hit settings and scroll to bottom, you should have some extra settings, tick the box at Normal Rendering and click on UAString ,choose Desktop. Exit and that's it. BBC Iplayer will now play without a green screen. Enjoy..

Got it to work but it is random with those settings. It’s worked with normal rendering unchecked and sometimes still says phone is not recognised. Too much fiddling around and I will wait for a fix.
It's working fine now. The new flash update resolves the issue.
yep it's fixed, not just koollondon.com but also other websites where I had the green screen (like nesn.com)
Do you try skyfire which you can change the string easily and stay this way after you exited?
Still got green screen, have followed instructions 3 times, any suggestions.

[Q] Hulu still working with Dexter mod?

OK just got my A7 a week ago, but fairly comfortable playing with Android since I have an OG Droid running Cyanogen 7, and been using Linux for about 12 years.
Anyway the Dextermod says it has flash modified for playing Hulu, but I must be missing something. If I go straight to the Hulu website it tells me the standard "this video cannot be played on this platform" Is there an App I'm supposed to be playing the videos through, did Hulu break the hack, or did something go wonky in my modding?
Type about:debug into the web address line hit go/enter/done and then go into settings while in web and scroll all the way down to uastring change it to desktop and try hulu again.

this doesn't work btw. I always keep my browser UI string sett to desktop, and hulu always comes back with an unsupported platform error with the "hulu-ized" flash version dexter packaged with 1.41
Just tested it again and it does work any time you shut down your tablet you have to do the about:debug again your not defaulted to desktop view of things unless you have done that. My hulu does work.

i just tested it here now with tv.com, and correct. although set to "desktop" and saved for next reboot.. it complaints and says not optimized for mobile.
Not sure i wanna flash update lolhulu does seem to work for me to test it I had to uninstall flash10.2 and dig through file foe hulu fixed apk reinstall and test. All i know is that if I power up my a7 go to browser type about:debug then go to hulu it works.
ok, here is the trick...
1. set UAString to "desktop" in browser settings when enabled with "about:debug", and when rebooting or restarting browser, you only need to activate with about:debug , otherwise the debug information is not enabled.
thats the trick.
Yup but now with 1.42 its as simple as uncheck mobile view under settings and your golden.
