When I first bought this phone, it interrupted all my calls after a few mins. First the other person could not hear me, then the call ended. I took it to the service, they did a full resoft but still the problem exists. I am also a member on a romanian forum where a lot of people are complaining about this. Do you have this problem? I have written to HTC about this and I waiting for a response.
I have the same problem. I initially though it just happened when using a bluetooth handsfree, but I have found the same problem when using the headset that came with it. I will write to HTC as well to add weight to the complaints.
Exactly the same problem here.. Logged the ticket with HTC and after the usual suggestions on 'factory reset' which as usual made no difference whatsover they offered to send the phone in for the repair.
I've refused to do that for now, since if so many people are having similar issues that must be the software related and I hope it will be fixed in the next software/radio ROM.
If you're having the same issue please call HTC on 0845 8900079 (UK) and log the ticket. The more complains they receive about the same fault, the more chances we have of new upgrade being release soon-ish.
If you want you can ask to cross-reference your ticket to the ticket I've raised which is 10GBC210000560.

The official response from HTC did not help. I have ROM 1.07.479.1. Some people have this ROM and they don't have this problem. If it were a software problem shouldn't all the phones have the same problem? This is really strange.
Let's keep sending mails to HTC, maybe they will offer a fix for this issue asap.
@radu1979 I have sent the romanian forum address via PM.
same problem here, after af few minuts talking the person i am speaking with cant hear me.
I know two different people in a Spanish forum who had that problem. They went to the store where they bought the phone and they exchanged it for a new one without hesitation. The new ones are fine

Can you please find out what ROM and Radio versions they have? If they have newer ones maybe upgrading will solve this problem.
Same problem here in Spain using Movistar (Telefonica) network with an HTC HD Mini T5555 bought in the UK.
My HTC HD Mini software versions are
OS 5.2.23103 (23103.5.3.3)
Manila version 2.5.131825.0
ROM 1.07.401.1 (85429) WWE dated 03/21/10
Radio 0.63.05.05
Protocol 32.26.05.04U
Should somebody find a solution, please let us know, because is very anoiying.

Bad news for you. That version is exactly the one they had in the previous model (with calling problems), and some people who hasn't changed the phone have also that version, so is not a problem related to the ROM.
Yeah, that's not great. I have replied to HTC, let's wait and see what they will suggest.
Note to self: Wait for at least 6 months since release before buying a phone )

I have hard reset and installed this new radio version
Radio instead of 0.63.05.05 it is now 0.63.05.36
and Protocol instead of 32.26.05.04U it is now 32.2809.05.06U
I’ll keep you posted if I have more call interruptions’. For the moment, rebuilding the PDA configuration and databases ..
A colleague from a romanian htc forum has installed this update and hasn't had any problems with call interuption. I have installed it too and will update if the problem is still present.
I have also installed the update now and will post once I have a feel for whether this update have solved the issue...
BTW, the update did not wipe any data during on my phone the install despite the warning on the first screen..

I want to update it, where I can find updates?
There is nothing on HTC sites...
EDIT:
I've asked HTC Tech Support, they replied that there are no updates for my device. Even if the newer ROMs are installed right now in just assembled phones. So it looks like I have two options:
- Buy newer Rose;
- Get ROM dump from other user and flash mine.
For me both solutions are not user-friendly. HTC is too busy with making new Android phones to even care for users like me. I wonder, how much time would take to add a ROM dump for upload on their web page? 5 minutes? They already have those ROMs, so what's the problem?
EDIT:
Apparently for some unknown and bizarre reason my phone is Eastern Europe Edition and because of that there are no updates for now.
yaa.. its stupid i to have too same version of rose.. i love it but it have big bugs! and htc wont fix it ;/ what we have to do if flash other roms its illegal

Hello!Dude can you dump your ROM and sheare for us all i had seen that you have the most advanced firmware from this forum please sheare it bro`...
Hello. I've bought HTC Magic recently. It is version 32a, as it has 288 MB of RAM.
Currently the build version is 2.16.*
So I wanted to download and upgrade to latest rom version 2.20.401.2 from HTC.
After putting my S/N HT97******** it shows me Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device..
Is here anyone who could help me please?
If you **** around too much on the htc home pages you do not get to download any update. I do not know why it is so but so it was with me,
So turn off your browser to try again. or get a new IP address
Or **** in the slow updates and root your phone it takes five minutes. Then your phone will be double as fast .???????????
OK, I've tried changing the browser, deleting browser's cache, reconnecting to the other wifi (so other IP), but all without success.. Thanks anyway Any other suggestions please?
Try to morrow.
Kk, but I don't think it's the reason because it didn't work already when I visited HTC website for the very first time and as I wrote, I tried it with different IPs, browsers etc.. but anyway, I'll give it a try

Just a quick question about the new Rom Update.
I'm currently waiting for T-Mobile to release there version of the Rom update from version 1.43 to 1.66.
I can get a copy of the 1.66 official Rom Update from the HTC website (my mate has a HTC HD2 which is unbranded).
Could i update my Rom using the download? Would it cause any problems to the phone?
Many thanks.
any noticed anything different?
I have an Uk version on O2 but its not taking my serial... any ideas?
surely I don't have to wait the O2 customised rom?
Does this at all stop the sluggishness and freezing from time to time
O2 and VF both run locked ROMs - the S/Ns need to be cleared by O2/VF/HTC to allow download...
any workarounds? ;-D

For future reference, it tells you the max ROM version that you need the hotfixes for, on the page where you download them.
In this instance, there haven't been any that have had a ROM version higher than 1.66, so no - you don't need them

I haven't found anything noticeable except a lower screen sensitivity and some value added applications.
Before I update my ROM, I read this
"The update will take up to 30 minutes, DO NOT interrupt the update process, make/receive phone calls, disconnect the device from the PC, or press any buttons until the process has been completed."
And wondered how I can stop any incoming calls, messages, mails etc. Should I just put it into airplane mode or something?
After installing the new 1.66 ROM, is it necesarry to install the peviously released hotfixe's, or are these already implemented in the newest ROM?
Already integrated.
Depending on your language, however, the latest SMS fix (of 24/01) has to be applied, too. If you are using a cooked rom with 1.66 base you'll also have to install the latest SMS hotfix.
Doesn't say it's for the UK WWE 1.66 ROM and it's not on the UK support page so not gonna bother unless it appears...I delete every SMS after reading anyway so never been an issue...
EDIT: OK, I lie it is there, didn't see it beneath the ROM update itself. Might give it a go, can't hurt can it?

If you are using the version they have in their support section, you as UK client don't need to apply it .
It is in the support page BUT if you click on the download button it goes back to the Support front end so guessing it's not needed as I've got the new ROM...

It normally states in the update which ROM it applies to. Which means that all of them (excluding the Valendar View) don't need to be applied to 1.66.
The only one which doesn't is the Calendar View update which says
"Note: This update is only applicable to all ROM Version" now I don't beleive this as they would surely apply it to a ROM.
Maybe someone else can help whith this one.

Yes, because the UK version has been released AFTER the SMS update, you are already good to go and fully updated. However, in other countries the ROM update came earlier and the new SMS fix is probably not in those yet.
Thanks for the help.
I'm on the Norwegian ROM, so i guess I'm ok then. (Sms update has been removed from HTC site after the ROM update came out.)

I second that. Send a mail to HTC yesterday to make sure the WWE rom update I was about to download already contained previous updates and they replied that it wasn't necessary to install them again. (It was in Dutch so that's why I'm not attaching the mail).

HSPL = Hard (flashed) SPL so it will be 1.66 still..

Greetings to you all...
I apologise ahead of time, my noobness is about to show through...
I will be getting my HD2 on the 3rd from Phones4U with a Vodafone contract and will be wanting to do the ROM update to 1.66. I am wondering about the following things:
1. Has this gone wrong for anyone and should it go wrong what is the fix?
2. Having never done this before and not wanting to get it wrong - does the downloaded update have all the tools I need to do the update? Or is there a specific piece of software I need from HTC?
3. Tried to follow this thread regarding the new SMS update and am not sure regarding the outcome - if I am on ROM 1.66 do I need to do the SMS update as well?
Thanks in advance for all willing to answer what are probably basic question - this is my first real smartphone and I am keen beyond belief but also do not want to mess it up...
P.S. Is there a manual in the box? (ROLL ON WEDNESDAY!)
Scott (In anticipation)
Double post - sorry!
Hi,
I got my HD2 from Dial-A-Phone (Phones4U) and it was an unlocked version so all updates from HTC are available. It'll likely come with the 1.48 ROM on it so first thing to check is whether this is correct. Go into Settings>About phone>Software version and it'll be in there.
Assuming yu are on 1.48 then go to the HTC UK support site and download the ROM update from the 25/01/2010. The other updates are rolled into this so you don't need them.
HTC UK Support - HD2
Now, charge up your phone and connect to your PC. If using Vista/Windows 7 it should recognise it being a Windows Phone and connect up using the Windows Mobile Device Center. Once done, make sure it says connected and then run the ROM file (which is an .exe file) and follow the instructions.
If, however, the phone is already on 1.66 then nothing more is needed!!
Excellent - really appreciate your feedback - I am, for once, wishing my weekend away so that Wednesday will get here quicker...

Hi, how can you tell if your HD2 is unlocked?
... but I can't download it. After I enter my serial number, it says the software is not fit for my device. I highly doubt that, since it's a regular Dutch HD2 and I could download the previous update (1.66) just fine.
Could it be that they don't have the ROM file fully online yet?
I guess I'll try again later. If anyone has more success, please let me know.

I found out about it through the RSS feed for Dutch HD2 upgrades, but I just noticed it hasn't even shown up in their support news section yet. I guess I'll just have to wait.

I just saw another post here that referred to it as the 'Vodafone 1.72 ROM' but I always figured HTC wouldn't put it on their own website then.
I guess they do.
I experienced the same, I don't understand why they never post a decent description with their updates. That would probably relieve their own help desk too!
Thanks for the info.
To all (dutch) users, flash a new rom the moment you unbox your HD2 tbh, the default ones cant even send sms
