Tip: Deleting Playlist from Mediascape - XPERIA X10 General

Some of you may be having problems with deleting playlist folder from mediascape. When you delete a playlist from Media-Go the mediascape retains an empty folder. Two solutions:
i. Go to Settings >>> Applications >>> Manage Applications >>> Media Storage >>> Clear All Data>>> Restart the phone
This will clear the playlists. Problem is it will clear all media data, be it music or video. While all your media will still be in the SD card you will not be able to retain/view it on x10 unless you erase them via Media-Go and re-upload them. A painstaking task. Nonetheless working one.
ii. When you delete a playlist from Media-Go it only deletes the folder in Media-Go. The X10 retains an empty folder and that is because the songs in that folder are not deleted from x10. Go back to Media-Go>>> X10 (or whatever name you have given to your device)>>> Music - and carefully delete the songs that are/were suppose to be in the now empty playlist folder >>> Restart the phone
I am not too sure about the success of the 2nd step. I stumbled upon it accidentally. I noticed that duplicate songs existed from the playlist I had deleted previously and decided to delete them manually - one by one. When I restarted the phone I found that the empty playlist folder was now gone.
If someone does this and my accidental experiment works do inform.

Notification alerts
I did this and cleared the data and the phone has no tones for any alerts including SD Card, sms, mms etc. Trying to change them just comes up with an empty list.
Restart the phone and it will link the folders up again, just means you need to reset the alerts you want for each notificaation type ie sms, email etc

Change the sync location of My Files in activesync to use storage card

I threw a few music files in the MY PDA folder under My Documents on my PC and expected them to sync accross to my Vario II. After connecting the phone it sent a couple across then I got a warning on the phone that 'Storage Memory is Critically Low'. Obviously the files had been synced onto the phone. Thought you would be able to specify to sync onto the phone storage card but there is no option for this anywhere.
Anyone know a way to do this?
if you set up the sync option for media player in active sync and then set up the playslists you want to sync in media player on your pc it will automatically set up the folders on your card and transfer the files. it does warn not to drag and drop onto the card of you want the sync process to work.
Cheers cdyat, but this was more of a test. For instance, what if I want to sync 30Mb of Office files with my phone. It would appear that I can't just put these in the My PDA Sync folder to be copied next time I connect, but I have to cut and paste from the relevant folders.
This to me seems ridiculous but I can't see an option to change the location to sync with the storage card anywhere.
You can only sync files, be default, into main memory. There are two 3rd party apps available (Sorry can't remember the names) that will allow you to Sync anything to anywhere. One is commercial and the other is a Japenglish conversion. Try searching these forums for links.
I am all for searching, but if anyone comes up with a name for those two apps, please post =)
As another user recently posted in this forum, Pocket Controller has a Sync Manager that can be used to synchronize files and folders to any location, including storage cards.
Pocket Controller sounds very nice but $35 is quite a lot just to enable me to sync a folder to my storage card.
I had assumed there must be a registry setting somewhere on the PC that would change the default path?
Try these

YMMV, but have a nice day...
Cheers Daniel, Mobsync looks like it might do the trick.
Acid Sync - Sync Computer Folder to SD Card\Folder
A guy I know is working on a program to do this with a much easier configuration since it just syncs Desktop folder to Storage Card folder. Pretty simple really, copy mp3 or whatever to desktop folder and it will sync to PPC folder and viceversa. Still in beta though

what folders are where?

So just synced my N1 and I am looking at the folders on the sd card. Where are ringtone?..and media files stored?
Do I want to make new folders for music ect?
Any help here on what to do would be great.
thanks
Ringtones, alarms, and notifications are stored internally. You can create a folder called Music on your SD card and put your music in there.
I have read that I should make a folder called Music, with separate folders for alarms, notifications ect. Is this correct?

To do that, on your SD card, create the following trees:
sdcard>media>audio>ringtones
sdcard>media>audio>notifications
sdcard>media>audio>alarms
Once you do this, then add files to each of the 3 folders, reboot and they'll show up just like all the other ringtones that are physically on the phone.
thanks for the help.

Music Playlist Suggestion

Hi...
can someone suggest an automated way to remove duplicate entries from a playlist?
bump. I have duplicate playlists showing in Sense Music. One actually contains all of the songs for the playlists, while a second is empty. Any way to delete these duplicate empty playlists?

[Q] Sync Issues

I have a problem with syncing using kies.
i picked folders from my pc for music, pictures and videos i want to sync automatically with my sgs2.
there are several subfolders in either of those categories, but on the phone, the music just all gets copied to the /media/ folder, without subfolders and pictures and videos go to /DCIM/Camera without subfolders.
is there any way to get to sync my folders on the pc with specific folders on the phone? i'd like to keep my pictures separated from the videos and in their respective sub folders. pics from my pc don't belong in the camera folder. the same goes for the music. i want to separate albums and especially audiobooks in their respective folders.
surely there must be settings for this kind of things, but i just can't find anything and i don't want to copy everything back and forth manually every day, just so that new items get copied, especially since the phone does not fully behave like a drive on windows7, either i overwrite the entire folder, or no items will be copied, which is annoying.

How can I get it to stop syncing my indevice music like from games...cause everytime I have it, it always syncs the game music files

The best way I've found is to create a .nomedia file and place it in the game's folder. Open notepad, hit save as, choose all files from the drop-down box, then input .nomedia as a the filename. Then copy that file to the folders that you don't want the media player to access.
