Get currently used AMR-rate for calls - Android Software Development

Is it possible to get the currently used AMR-Rate on outgoing (or any) calls in android?
I can see that information in FieldTest.
I want to measure the quality of phonecalls and I'm hoping to get some information from the system.
Thanks

Device status returned on an XDA 2

I have a program that makes outgoing GSM data calls. I'm trying to find a way of not making calls when the phone is not in a state to make a call. Calling lineGetLineDevStatus return with some useful information but the data in dwDevStatusFlags does not show if the phone is locked or not. The flag LINEDEVSTATUSFLAGS_LOCKED does not seem to get set by the XDA software.
Does anyone know of a reliable way to check that the phone is in a state to make an outgoing call?
Thanks

No ringback on VoIP calls

Hi all,
I've been messing around with the VoIP capabilities on my Dopod 838 with Pandoras Kitchen built ROM...
I've selected the VoIP options and making a call works perfectly as well as having incoming calls work ok. What I have noticed however is that when I make an outgoing call, there is no ringback to indicate that the call is ringing. I get silence from when the dial command starts until someone answers the phone.
Is this a known issue? is it related to Pandoras ROM? a generic issue? something else?
EDIT: \Windows\ringback.wma is present... I can't find much else to check :|
Use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\DialingVoIP
Check that the <Sound> string is set to a valid sound file.
I'm using Midi2Wave_079_4098.wav and is works fine.
Good luck!
Ahhh ok - I shall try this when I get my unit back. At the moment it's in for repair as I've only ever managed to get ~8 hours battery life on standby. They've had it 3 weeks at the moment, and it doesn't look like I'll get it back for at least another week, maybe 2

HD2 and Voip Solutions

Hello guys! I have been trying to make internet calls with my new HTC HD2, and so far I have not managed to make it work properly.
Actually after testing PortSip I almost got it, but the problem I have with this software is that my voice is not being heard at all/clear enough. I can hear the person I'm calling very well, without delays, but they can not hear me. I tried using BT headset, normal headset, and without headsets for the same result, not being heard.
Could it be that the microphone is set too low? is there any way to increase it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thnx.
I use PortSip without any such problem....
Try fring as an alternate solution...may work for you...
Are you connecting to your own VOIP server? If so, make sure that the correct ports are open.
I had the same problem with portsip. I find Agephone to work nicely, only problem with it not being able to direct sound to the earpiece so you will need some software that does that instead.
After a lot of testing, I'm still in the same situation. I'd be great to make voip calls to work. I am certain there's some settings in windows mobile (codecs maybe) that my voip provider don't like, and therefore calls drop.
My voip provider is Saunalahti (Finland) which actually rents the gsm network from Elisa.
I am trying making calls from two different voip accounts, calling other voip numbers and normal gsm numbers. I am using one HD2, one TYTN and a Softphone that Saunalahti offers.
The only way that the calls work is calling from the softphone in the PC, no problem there. I have audio both ways and calls do not drop.
If I call from:
wm to PC, call drops (lasts 2 sec)
wm to wm, call drops (lasts 2 sec)
wm to gsm, connects but the other person can not hear me
One wm is using 3G and the other is using WIFI. port 5060 is open in the registry.
Like a said earlier, I have tried different programs, but it's the same scenario.
Any idea on what the problem actually is? thnx i nadcance.
Hi guys,
I am interested in VoIP calling with my HD2. I don't know much about this, and I would like to be able to use it when I travel to Mexico next month. I know that Blackberry's have UMA technology or soemthing like that to make WiFi calling for free back to the states. Will this PortGo/PortSip program do the same thing if I use the free version, or buy the Professional version?

Skype on DHD

I have also posted this on VF forums but hoped someone here on might have some experience of this:
Anyone out there using Skype on their DHD yet? I use skype for my business and have a skype incoming number too so it is great that I will no longer have to divert skype calls to my mobile at cost. I can now just pick them up directly from my mobile for free. I can even make free outgoing UK landline calls from the mobile via skype as part of my skype subscription, although this isn't as big a deal due to the VF contract I have.
I may be wrong, and I will be testing this out very soon, but when abroad and assuming you buy a local SIM with some data allowance, I think I should be able to receive calls to my skype number and make calls (via my skype subscription) to UK landlines all from my mobile for free! Can anyone with similar experience confirm this to be the case?
Also, the skype app for android isn't the most intuitive regarding changing the settings etc and you can't use the back button once logged in, only the home button to hide the app. Hopefully that will be addressed in the next release. My main issue however is that I cannot change the ringing volume for skype which is currently set very low. I have found an option to change the ring tone but it only offers either the default or something from the music stored on the handset, no mention of volume though. I have also set all the volumes of the handset (Calls, notifications, etc) to full but skype still rings very quietly. Anyone have any ideas on this?
For anyone interested, Skype just released an update for this app. It now allows you to use the back button to hide the app. However there is now a more annoying problem of the missed call page showing up everytime you go to the app (assuming you have a missed call) and won't go away until you clear the whole history.
I have read on other forums the only solution to the low ringing volume is to change the default to a music file of your choice which is of a decent volume.

Yes, tried Skype on my DHD today for the first time. Signal was quite good to start with but then the sound started breaking up a little. Then I took an incoming Skype call which didn't have such good sound quality.
It clearly works, but I think the sound quality, like on another other computer, depends on the quality of your data internet connection. Also, it is annoying about the back button, I agree. Looks like its just the first version for Android, so hopefully Skype will improve it soon.
So the BIG ?
Is there a front facing camera on the DHD?
No, the DHD hasnt got a front facing camera.
Any idea if the back camera can be used for a video call?
Not very convenient I know but its someth at least ;]

If it works, you can always use it in front of a mirror right?

And what does that have to do with Skype ? You know, Android version doesn't have video call support.

NO I did not, because all the crappy reviews do NOT mention that, most of them tend to be C&P from some bad stock handout, same as a few 'older' reviews of the DHD mention that the FFC may only work when 2.2 comes out.

[QUESTION] VOIP calls dropping when incoming call

Hi all,
I can imagine this is a general Android feature but since I use the OP5 I thought of asking here.
I noticed while using f.e. WhatsApp voice calls (over WiFi) that they drop when a network call is incoming.
Is there a way (rooted or not) to change that priority and keep the VoIP call alive and just show that someone is calling you normally ?
Thank you in advance
apologies for not responding with a fix for you - but there's definitely some issue with the latest build of oxygen OS and voip - in addition to call drops there are problems with voice/SIP/RTP itself. This is not just limited to whatsapp - but also Tango and skype.
Only real way to isolate the issue seems to be to reflash to older stock ROM and see if the problem persists. But is it worth it?
