when i first got my x10, the proximity sensor worked fine.
but after about after a week of use, it seems to be malfunctioning. when i am in-call, and the phone is next to my face, the screen would turn off, due to the proximity sensor, but then turn back on immediately without removing the phone from my ear.
then after a few more seconds, it would turn off again due to the proximity sensor, and turn on again immediately.
anyone else have this problem? anyone know how to help?

So I read in the net about the proximity sensor issue, that the phone is turning on by itself. I did not experience such problem at all, but I do have a problem with the proximity sensor: when I'm on a call, in the most time the screen does not turn off, so I accidentally pres "mute microphone" or turn on "speaker phone", which is very annoying. This is with the 2 OTA updates patched already, was the same before them too.
Do you have such problems, like I do? Anything that we can do to fix this issue?
Sounds like the common proximity sensor problem....
I'm having a problem with proximity sensor: every time it gets on, it's stays on. I mean, when I make a call, it works as is suposed to work. But when I hang up, block the screen or wherever I do, the sensor is still on. If I pass my finger, it "blink" stronger, like detecting my finger. When I restart the device, it get off.. but when it get used again, it happens the same.
Anybode has the same issue?
I've noticed that the proximity sensor is active not only when calling someone regularly, but also when using a bluetooth headset or the speaker. That not enough it's even active when I switch off the screen manually with the power button while calling. When I get near the sensor later it turns on again.
I'm used to take my phone in my pocket when using a headset and I can't do that anymore because at some point it wakes up and my leg or something else ends the call, mutes me etc.
Did somebody else noticed that behaviour and knows a fix for it?
It's fixed in the latest update (34.3.A.0.217)

I have similar problem with latest version 34.4.A.2.118. When I start a phone call screen goes black before i put it on my ear. It's like faulty proximity sensor, but few days ago I was using OMNI and there wasn't any problem.
I have problem with my s10+ exynos.
When calling and the phone is on my ear, the screen turns off.
However when moving my phone away from my ear the screen stays off during the call.
I have to push the power button to wake the screen up.
With my s7 edge the screen used to turn on when I moved my phone away from my ear when in a call.
When dialing *#0*# for the test menu's, clicking the sensors button doesn't show any proximity sensor at all?
I removed the screenprotector and the issue happends with both case on and off.
When recording sensor activity with the app Androsensor, the generated csv clearly shows that the proximity sensor goed from 2 to 0 and back to 2, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Also booting in safe mode and factory reset doesn't resolve the issue.
Am I missing somthing in the settings?
Is anyone else running into this issue?
I contacted the shop where I bought the phone and they told me that it's very likely to be a defective phone.
So I will send the phone back and once they have confirmed the issue, they will send a new device.
same thing happens to me
Update - it stopped happening on my phone all of the sudden. Now it is working fine.
Hi all, so i poorly replaced my essential phone screen. After starting her back up, it seems as though the proximity sensor always detects something near it. During calls the screen stays dark until the other person hangs up. I have used some apps that say something is directly on it. If i am in call and pull the screen partially off, the screen lights back up as if nothing is detected by the proximity sensory. My essential phone is ROOTED so at this point im hoping to just disable the proximity sensor or at least install a mod to control the sleep during a call (via gesture, etc.) thanks in advance.
