i'm having trouble with my timescape app and it's driving me nuts ~~ when i turn the phone on ~ it'll show the latest news ie facebook miscall whatever on my main screen, and it'll stay there forever. what i mean is it won't change/update to another one even though it's newer. example, someone changes their status on facebook. it'll show that on my homescreen. 1 day later it'll still show the same one, with the exact same time stamp like 5mins ago 1hr ago etc etc.. how do i get it to change? the only way i can get it to gurantee change is turn off and turn back on the phone again. it's driving me nuts

well if u have a task killer installed, then that is stopping the timescape from updating. jus add timescape as a exception to the task killer nd it'll work fine..
or just uninstall the task killer...
cheers
i'll give it a try thx
Hate to steal this thread but its appropriately titled for this inquiry as well. I just got my X10....finally, and I can't seem to get timescape to sync with my gmail?? I would assume this is possible. When I go into "set up services" only facebook and twitter are available options and when I go into "set up an email account" it says that I already have an account set up, which is my work email through hotmail that I do not want to sync with timescape. Any thoughts??

Unfortunately Gmail dose not comes for timescape, only emails setup through standard email client of X10 will display.
If you don't want mails that configured via so called standard email to display, simply in the timescape mode click settings and untick customize tiles and splines
I don't have a x10 yet, but I'm planning on buying.
This I don't really understand.
I have a gmail and a hotmailaccount, and I like to have both in Timescape.
That is not possible?
Can you explain to me what my options will be to set up both accounts on the x10?
Thx
you can get both email accounts on the phone but only ur hotmail account will show up on ur timescape which isn't really that big of a problem
Hi - You CAN have your gmail on timescape as well as any other mail accounts.. if you go into the standard mail program (NOT the Gmail one).. add you're Gmail account into there and it will start popping up in Timescape too... it'll have it's own icon too (little red envelope if I remember right).
Thx for both your answers!
Now I can get myself a x10, knowing that I'm doing the right thing!

Search on the market for fbsync.
Is an application.
Google calendar events do not sync automatically to my Bell Vibrant, i.e. Google server->phone Auto-sync does not work. The other way around (i.e. phone->Google sever) works fine and is almost instantaneous. (Syncing Google server->phone does work manually though.)
Any other Bell Vibrant (GT-I9000M) have this problem please? (Should I rather post this one in the GT-I9000 forums?)
P.S. I see other Android users have had similar issues: http://tinyurl.com/39hvdr2.
i just type in my gmail login, then everything else is automatic for me
all my calendar items goes both way, same with my contacts
not sure if it will help, but if you go to manage apps and then clear data for gmail storage that helped my account sync properly.
Just a quick update: Things got back to normal once I re-enabled Google Talk Service. I had it disabled using Autostarts, as I was intending to use Fring to carry out my Google Talk messaging. Hence it turns out that this service is needed for Auto-sync.
Thanks for all the replies.
Since I usually cycle between 2 batteries, I'm trying to make my phone boot faster by disabling some startup services. However, I'm new to this so I'm not sure which services are safe to disable and which aren't
Here's a list of services that run after startup according to Autostarts and what I've disabled so far:
Calendar
Calendar Storage
Email
Email
Messaging
Messaging
Download Manager
Media Storage
PC Internet
Mobile Tracker
SIM Tookit
My Uploads
Google Talk Service
Network Location
Google Partner Setup
Gmail Storage
Sync Feeds
Maps
Samsung Account
CSC
Clock
Factory Test
DRMContentLauncher
Factory Test
com.sec.android.app.samsungapps.una
Service Mode
SNS
com.sec.android.providers.downloads
DRM Protected Content Storage
Daily Briefing
Swype
wipeoutreceiver
Device Management
Dialer
Would love some advice on this issue. Thanks.
i'm using an app called the autorun killer
Autorun Killer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8123924&postcount=40
to replace Startup Manager that is now a paid app
i lost count of all the stuff i disabled, just too many to list here
i'll try to compile a list, if i can figure out a way to export it
Thanks for the app, but I'm just wondering what services are safe to disable and which aren't. Hate having to wait so long after boot up until my phone is usable.
Startup manager is the only app I know that actually disables start up processes and not waiting for them to start and kill them after. It has 15 days trial.

can you post the exactly name of this aplication to find in the market?
My Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 has Android version: 2.3.6. My phone isn't rooted.
Recently some unknown app is using my 2G packet data mysteriously. I am on a cheap internet plan, so this uses up good percentage of my data; though I can ignore it. But my phone becomes hot (~35° C) and obviously battery gets used up. The mysterious usage eats up data ranging between 4-20 MBs. I am unsure if it is random or just that I am lucky to notice this and stop it before it goes SPARTA.
To find out, I tried out various usage monitoring apps, but that none helped to find out which app uses the data. The overall usage in the monitoring app accounts to the used sum, but no signs of what app it is.
I just have Google account(with sync off for Picasa albums) and WhatsApp listed in my Accounts and sync settings. Both have been ON since the day I have this phone, but this thing is happening recently, so I cannot blame them. Also, I do not have much that'd get synced and use this lot of data.
I have disabled auto update of my phone and the Play Store apps.
Due to low internal memory, I have uninstalled all of the default app's(i.e Google Map, Talk, Mail etc) updates except Play Store.
For having a clear idea I will list down the apps whose services are ON on my phone:
WhatsApp
Rocket Player - com.jrtstudio.AnotherMusicPlayer
Assistant - com.speaktoit.assistant
Battery Solo Widget - net.maicas.android.batterys
Notification Toggle - de.j4velin.notificationToggle
DRM Content - com.sec.android.provider.drm
Software Update - com.wssyncmldm
Email - com.andoid.email - I do not use this. Never used it.
Google Services (2 processes and 3 services) - Cloud-to-Device Messaging service, NetworkLocationService, Google Message Service.
Messaging
SnsService
Time
SyncmlDS - com.smlds
Maps * 2 (dunno why, but I see 2)
Software update - com.sec.android.fotaclient
Swype
I had linked all the possible apps to their Play Store page for your convenience to know about the app if in case you didn't, the system didn't allow me to, it says I need minimum 10 posts, upon which I do agree.
I had a thought if the counter on my service provider's side is bugged, but I have seen the uplink and downlink symbols continuously lighted, I switch on my packet data and find a crazy amount of data getting accounted in my usage.
PS: I stay in Mumbai, India. I am on Aircel's GSM network.
Will be thankful if you can help me find a solution to this problem. I have tried to provide most the information that I thought would be helpful, please ask if you need more information.
Thanks for reading such big post.
none of those apps listed (if downloaded from the playstore) should cause large ammounts of data usage
Whatsapp out of all of them would most likely be the largest
If your phone is hot its most likey an app is running all the time stopping the phone from going to sleep (as long as you havent got the phone on charge as this will also stop phone sleeping)
you can use this app to see what app is stopping the phone from sleeping
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en_GB
All you can do is flash stock rom via odin and then re-test if you feel you have a rouge app

Anyone using the Outlook app on their Nokia 6? After the phone has been inactive for a while, Outlook stops notifying and I only get the notifications when i turn on the screen. I'm sure this has something to do with "doze". I have disabled "battery optimization" (which I thought was doze) for the Outlook app, but doing so made no difference. How do I disable this stupid behavior? I don't care how much battery time it saves if the result is a crippled phone. What's the point of a smartphone that doesn't notify?

Hello! Nothing is wrong with the device..Don't blame it!
It's the app itself.. The outlook app doesn't support FETCH / PUSH
(PUSH consumes more battery since it always contacts the email server...but keeps you updated
FETCH mean it FETCHES the email server the between intervals)
instead use
Blue Mail
Which is I use for Hotmail and Gmail I've set it to PUSH mode so I'm way updated than manually updating..
