Android 1.5 Shutdown screen - Android Software Development

Hey all I have a few questions.
First off can I remove the dialog that asks me if I am sure I want to shutdown and is there anyway I can have a reboot/restart option?
Im not new to this sort of modding but where would be a good place to start and do I need to do anything to the ODEX file or will that regenerate?
How would I go about modifying the contents of the APK file? I have extracted it, is there anything I should be aware of? What would be the best way of modifying these files?
FYI Im modding an LG GW620

[Q] Replacing build.prop?

hi!
in order to test something, i need to replace the build.prop in root/system with a modified one. but trying to delete this file with astro manager displays an error message, and just copying the modified build.prop over the old one doesn't work too (nothing happens).
so my question is: how do you replace such a file?
thanks in advance for your help
are you serious!?!?!?
If the build.prop is located on the Android folder IT HAS TO BE A SYSTEM FILE !!!
if you mod the system files you could break android or the system just won't let you do it, you will need R and W privileges to do that.
edit the system files from your PC or just boot up in to windows mobile.
use some common scene next time.
hope it helps!

Do you use a cyanogen build?
yes and there is already a cyanogen rom posted with the proper build.prop fixed, so you won't have to edit anything, just search for it.

mmmh actually cyanogen made things easy to replace a system file, just copy your file into sdcard/android/root/system and reboot.
thanks for your help / posts. but unfortunately they're not helpful.
yes, i am serious! and yes, of course it's a system file. i know as well that modification might brick android.
there are reasons for modifying this file. some people seem to be able to, e.g. for chaning screen point density or modify the data passthrough.
so, please tell me, how can i edit/modify a system file from pc or windows mobile when its within the data.img-file?
thanks for any tips / hints on this.
use root explorer

Thank you VERY much for your help - I finally got it to work by listening your instructions. It is simply different if you have HD2 and plus CM mod. That figures why it was going back all the time to 180 instead of changing it - because it runs from sd card and that's where it needs to be replaced as well ...

[Q] Help Me Modify Some Framework Files Please

I definitely wouldn't call my self a noob but also would never call myself a programmer or a pro by any means. I can change the framework-res.apk with out any problems and am getting the hang of different theming from messing around with that. I have read just about every tutorial that I can get my hands on too but haven't found anything regarding com.htc.resources.apk. The are files in that apk that I want to change but every time I even change the smallest png in there when I push with adb or droid explorer or simply copy and paste with root exp I get bootloops no matter what. I've tried signed unsigned nothing seems to work. If it matters Im running CMYLXGO's HD build on NAND. And I've been told that com.htc.resources.apk is a "sensitive" file but based on others themes and build I imagine that there has to be a way to modify it. So please any advice or ideas are very welcome...thanks so much in advance.
+1
I can replace com.htc.resources, BUT millions of FCs
Even if I replace it with the original file!!
Can somebody help us?
I think you need to set permissions

[Q] Phone, mms and touchwiz apk modification

Hi there, I'm planning on changing my icons here and there and since the apkreplacer in the zip crap doesn't seem to function for me I thought I'd just modify the apk files but I remember reading before that before sent again, they need to be signed.
What is everyone's best recommendation for doing this? What's the best and safest way to push them back to phone? I want to replace 1 icon each on those 3 files.
No one really knows whether these files should be signed or not?
Use apk manager .its useful for all your needs including signing.search for it in xda.

Thanks but what about sending the files back? Do I need to set any permissions for them or I just send them normally like I do with framework-res.apk and all those.

[APK] Disabling aspects of launcher (Nova)

Hi. I'm pretty new to modding APKs so I'm looking for some guidance.
I've followed tutorials to unpack APKs and start modifying them, but am having trouble even unpacking the classes.dex file, let alone finding the correct file to mod. Assuming I can get past the first step, can anyone point me in teh right direction for this specific mod?
Some background: I'm trying to mod the Nova Launcher APK to remove the long-press option to unlock a locked desktop. The reason for this is that I'm creating a fairly locked down tablet for education purposes, and need a way to remove this option.
Has anyone had experience removing functions like this in this apk or others? Any direction you could give would be awesome. :highfive:
Anyone have any suggestions with something like this? Also, if this isn't the correct place to post, please let me know! Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Cannot Extract APK

First ok all, Move if not in the correct spot (Or Delete if against TOS)!
Unsure if this is possible but I'm trying to extract an APK (Not sure if I should mention the App, I Did purchase the app) to make a small change to the code. I Can get to a certain point of extraction and then it stops. The files I need to edit are extracteded however so I can change what I need to, but as files are missing, when I recompile the app does not launch.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
I've tried both APK Studio & APKTools
