It's was 3 bars when I received a call, but as I answered it the call disconnected and the status changed to 'No phone service'. It's the status icon with the exclamation mark.
I tried to call back immediately (while with no phone service) and it worked. During the phone call, the status icon changed to the 'No signal' icon. It was still 'no signal' after the 5 minute call finished and took a few minutes before it updated to have signal bars.
I have poor reception in my room. It's usually 1-3 bars and mostly 2 bars.
It seems like WM doesn't update the status icon fast enough. Unfortunately I wonder if phone calls can come in while WM 'thinks' I don't have reception.
Anybody else notice this?

Having upgraded from the XDA to the XDA2 I have noticed that after receiving a MMS the GPRS indicator in the top left of the screen remains on. I can switch it off by turning off wireless and then turn wireless backon to get the normal service indicator displayed. But do I need to deactivate gprs ?? . and am I paying for it even when I am not making a call or doing things that use the internet or messaging services
Thanks for any info on this
It should close
Brian
It should close after 7-10 minutes or so.
I don't think you're paying for it being open - after all it's gprs not time-based billing
It does not switch off after 7/10 mins, But I have noticed that a symbol appears in the top of the screen showing a phone with a white circle containing a X . This shows for a few seconds then disappears, This happens often ,
thanks
After sending or recieving a MMS my xda-2 stay connected to the GPRS wap connection, it dose not cost to keeep it connected, if you wish to disconect just hold the red end key for a few seconds
John
Cant get it to close using red key ????
If its not costing anything then I guess its OK
even if you hold the red end key for 5 or so seconds, dose it not "beep" and theen the connection drops, again not that it matters as its not costing anyway
John
No it does'nt
As mentioned in an earlier post a symbol appears on the top of the screen every so often
not sure then, But as to the icon (phone , circle and cross) i asked this ages ago and was told its to do with the IA caller id thats included on the XDA-2, The handbook shows the icon in one of the screen shots but nowhere dose it mention anything about it

i am having a problem with Direct Push. It resets phone connection, and disconncets me in the middle of a call. I will go from full bars to it looking for a connection in an area i know is fine. A few seconds and i have full bars again. Its really irritating. The only time this doesnt happen is when direct push is off. anyone have any ideas.
I've noticed this too. When I go to bed with DirectPush enabled, when I wake up my phone shows full bars, no missed calls or texts. But if I check voicemail, I'll have had a ton of calls that never got through. Sometimes I even have to reset the phone to use it again at all.
VERY big problem, so I've disabled it for now. Anyone else seen this?
Hi,
I faced this problem too often, so I ask on this forum to know if it only happens to me:
when I end the call, telephone programs stucks. In the top bar, the indication of an on going call is still there. Everything is working except telephone application. I can't open the telephone options. Even if I turn on Airplane mode, the phone logo in the top bar remains.
Any idea?
I had that problem once. Did it occur when you dialed a number not in your phone book? It turned out the prompt for saving a new dialed number was still there but I somehow couldn't access it. Perhaps turn that setting off?
no, it was an outgoing call to someone in my phonebook. (at least in my last problem)
facing the same problem. after ending a call the phone app freeze a couple of minutes and sometimes more than ten minutes
Did you installed the HTC patch to avoid the freeze ?
I didn't.
Could it be usefull there ?
This is really annoying if you have to wait 10mn before doing an another call !
Problem happened again
The problem happened again yesterday.
But worse. I was leaving a message on an answering machine. and I couldn't end the call !
Pressing the right key (end call) had no effect !
Usually in my previous problems, the other user was ending the call.
So I had to switch off the phone in comm manager !
I'm surprised that no one else faced this problem !
I tried to follow one's advice to wait then until phone gets back to normal. (release the phone icon in the top bar).
After one hour, I finaly rebooted the phone to be able to do an outgoing call.
Help !
Phone blocks during or after a call
Hello guys and girls
I had the same problem last week, a couple of times in a row, I was on the phone with a contact, after a couple of minutes I couldn't hear anything anymore and tried to end the call but no joy, a soft reset did the thing the first time, the second I waited a couple of minutes wich worked aswell. It was very annoying I must say especially as it happened 4 times in a row...
Hoping for a solution

It seems a bug. You can press volume up/down buttons on the device itself to open the volume bar screen. After that just press somewhere on the grey area to go back to home screen. The top bar will restore from the phone application.
It's not the top bar. The phone application is completely unavailable.
We see the top bar,but the phone icon is stuck. Like if we were still on call.
I too have a similar problem.
Although I haven't particularly logged the prolems, I think that it only happens on incoming calls, and not outgoing ones.
During a phone call, the incoming sound just goes mute, and afterwards I can't hang up the call.
I reckon I have lost well over half the calls I have received because of this.
Luckily, not many people call me!!
I reckon this is a CRAP phone, and am seriously thinking of getting a REAL phone, and just using the HD as a PDA device. Good old HTC!!!!!!
I edited the title of this topic.
The phone app is really stucked : I called an answering machine, I wasn't able to end the call !
Help !
I am thinking of changing ROM.
The phone powers on fine. Once it sits for a few minutes it goes to sleep and wont come out. No matter what I do. When I send text or try and call my phone from another phone it just goes to voicemail. Then twenty or thirty minutes later it will show up. Service is in and out and when I dial out it doesnt ever ring. WHile trying to text it just says text cannot be sent. I have the hermes 200 vodaphone v1605 and I am using t mobile service. IS this something to do with the network? It just works when it wants to!!
also after charging it just stays lit up! DOenst respond to any button strokes. WHen I try and make a call it just gives me a weird symbol whre my signal strength should be
ok i took the update to 8,0 yesterday, after the update at the very top of my screen to the left of wi fi and battery things i see a emergency alert icon, so i pull down and it says severe threat warning this area . then stops . so i tap on it and it usually shows me what the alert is about. not now though i get this page. if emergency alerts are issued, those alerts will appear on this screen. its got a settings tab where i can turn alerts on and off but i cant get that damn little icon to go away from top of screen nor delete that half message that takes me to the blue screen with message about said alert being on that screen , which it is not on that screen,

I updated and don't see that. Sounds odd, but have you tried restarting your phone? Sometimes, things get stuck and a restart releases them.
