Hello,
I've installed darkstone SuperRAM froyo and it works fine, except for the following problem: after each time I answer incoming phone call, battery drain goes from 5-7ma to ~70ma. I used PowerTutor to find that Launcher CPU usage goes sky high after incoming call, so I guess this is the offender. The only way out of this is a restart. Any advice?
TIA
hi sorry for the intrusion & noobish question, but which application do you use to see the battery drainage ?
thx

It's called CurrentWidget, install it from Market.
Okay i will try it, thx a lot
i've the same problem running core droid desire v0.8... sometimes it's possible to decrease drainage to 3-5mA after closing various(!) processes through task manager (sometimes only applications like settings, contacts, etc. other times processes like htc.com.provider.settings)?! otherwise rebooting is the only way to go back to 3-5mA. Any solutions?
My Arc keeps crashing asking me to force close apps and the homescreen it lags like hell and it is getting worst all the time so bad that even opening my texts takes a couple more than 10 seconds... (I do have around 2000 texts though)
Unlocking the screen is laggy scrolling on threw the 5 homescreens is laggy...
Sync turned off.
No timespace widget.
Even after removing all widgets to test it it was laggy
I used advanced task killer to kill all the apps to try the quadrant test
and I only got 850-950 MAX!!
Compared to youtube videos that seem to get almost double scores why is my
Arc is slow is it faulty?
Is it because I only have 40mb of phone memory and about 500mb sd card memory left?
Will I just have to flash my phone and does that mean I will need to flash every 2 weeks???
I think you have installed some applications which caysing this problem I had this problem, then i flashed my phone again & installed apps again (didn't restore).. But i didn't installed all apps at once, i spent time & installed 2, 3 apps everyday to check if the app would make phone laggy or slow. Since then my phone is working awesome, my 16GB memory card is almost full, 400 MB internal memory is full (After root i have removed many useless system apps)... I have more than 4000 sms & there is no lag or slowness Quadrant score is 1650
the only time i experienced lag was with adw launcher and no fc's yet, other than that the phone has been fast - then again i don't have as many apps or data on my phone as you. one thing i did notice is that my lcd's touch sensitivity seems to be lower than other arc's, maybe a defect, but it's pretty maddening in addition to all the reboots i've been having. i've been reading about others that have issues with the battery staying in place and like me, the random reboots, this is my first android phone, so not sure if these things are normal or if it just the arc.
It's definitely apps.
Mine is superfast...
Apps and possibly task killing the wrong things.. you need to make sure that if you're going to use a task killer, you really shouldn't us it on Auto.. and you should make sure to IGNORE anything that is a system task, or anything which persistently restarts.. killing those only wastes battery.
Android isnt exactly the most stable os out their but if you know about the os and know its ins and outs it can not only be the fastest but the best os out there.
My recommendation is look up articles about using and optimizing the os, trust me it will do you a ton of good.
Hi,
It seams that sometimes Android must be reflashed on a Device, especially on Tmobile Devices it will fix most of the problems.
Another tip: Uninstall the update of gmaps and reinstall it, on my device it blocks login to gmail and gtalk from one day to another! -.-
Greetings
Alef
Nope the ARC does not Lag very often and i think its ur device's memory thats giving you the trouble along with that huge pile of messages .... or the Corrupt software that might have crept in ...
My advice would be to flash ur ARC ASAP and limit that 2000+ messages and u will see a difference. Avoid putting too many apps as well.
Arc is a Size Zero Lady ... Don't burden it with Heavy Foodstufff ...
Might create Digestion problems. Keep it Light and it'll stay FIT.

What do you mean "isn't the most stable"? I've been able to keep my phone on for weeks without a reboot. Seems stable enough to me.
Ok turns out I had 110 apps I deleted al the heavy ones and am down to 60 now!! My phone now got 1200 on quadrant. I dont kill any system ups or have an auto task killer set up I just kill uneeded apps before I run benchmarks?
Plus I noticed I have some orange apps that keep coming up even though I never used them... I might have to debrand and try again but my phobe is much much more stable now thanks!!
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
chances are it wasn't the number of apps you had which was causing the problem, but that one of them (or possible several of them!) which you deleted were badly written and hogging the processor when they should have been sitting quietly in the background..
Orange is well known for screwing devices with bloatware also.
Wow!!
That's a lot of apps you've installed and most likely loads of them are badly written like iceman said; I installed a file browser on mine not long after getting the phone which would pause the whole system for up to a minute, plus battery was highly drained.
I guess this is result of massively varied hardware for one mobile OS. (Plus bad programming)
Hi,
Currently i'm using kyrillos 5.5 (based on froyo 2.2 JPM).
I just want to share my experiences and things I did to get my phone running nicely.
- disable "sensor aiding" to get rid of 100% cpu-usage after exiting any GPS based application (also involved in camera crash). you find this setting in settings-'location and security'.
- with kyrillos rom 800 Mhz version, use setcpu or no-frills cpu governor to 'anything but conservative', so I chose (with setcpu) min.800mhz max.800mhz performance, and for screen-off profile 166-800 mhz on-demand governor. Cpu governor at conservative can stick your CPU at 83Mhz..which causes mayor lag as you can imagine.
It's assume it's not a Kyrillos issue, but fugumod (2.4 beta3) problem.
BTW somehow, the 800-800 Mhz. doesn't drain my battery much.
- I finally re-formatted my sd-card to fat32 (so no ext2 ext4 partitions anymore) to keep all memory caching/swapping in RAM and not to sd-card which could wear-out the sd-card in the end. I use class-2 card so could cause more lag because it's too slow for swap/cache/dalvik. Beware that you cannot install too many programs or you run out of memory..but hey do I need 50 games/apps on my phone ?
- I use zeam launcher as this launcher seems to use less memory (only 1 process too, not two as many other launchers). only disadvantage at this time is that auto-rotate doesn't follow your settings in phone, it's either on or off for zeam itself.
Ok I hope I help a lot of people with these tips/tricks.
If you have any additional tips/tricks, please reply so I can learn from it too

That is some nice info...... I would like to add some myself....
For Battery:-
Disable data connection when not in use - drains battery like hell.
Disable Auto Sync - saves some processes and battery.
Brightness - lower screen brightness - the less brightness you keep the more the battery
The video player has it's own brightness so check that too.
Don't use task killers like ATK if you are a newbie and don't know much about system process..... if you kill all the process, some just start again as they are necessary.... instead use the stock task manager or watchdog.
Undervolting - ADVANCED USERS ONLY - please who know what they are doing can undervolt the cpu which increases the battery life by a noticeable margin.... for this you can use an app called pimp my cpu.
Stock Gallery - Spare from Using the Samsung stock gallery, it's a huge battery hog!
For Performance:-
APPS - VERY IMPORTANT - even though we have ext4 partion on sd card we do not have a super-phone that can handle 50 apps running in the background.... so keep passive and active multitasking to a minimum
Tweaks - for increasing performance on our phone you can enable JIT, change file partitions, install overclocked fugumod (800 mHz), fugutweaks.
Widgets - well although widgets are fairly usable and state that application is not actually open but infact they have processes and too many widgets on your home screen can affect your phone's performance as these processes stay even when you are not on your homescreen.
Keep the phone memory reasonably free - i mean the phone storage....
- quick call end: settings/Accessibility/use power button to end call
- quick call pick-up: settings/call/all call/pick up a call with home button
- disable mobile data: long press power button/disable mobile data
- not for froyo but usefull: press more than 10 sec the power button-->hard phone restart
data connection for me, doesnt causing battery drain..

actually what i meant by data connection causing a huge drain was that it consumes more battery.
With all the specified things done i managed to squeeze a hell load of battery..... two days straight of heavy usage ........ sent around 500-600 messages.... talked for about six - seven hours..... and angry birds for 40 minutes before i got the low battery signal!.
addon to tips and tricks on froyo 2.2
Hi all,
I would like to add an already known setting to many and that is :
"switch on USB debug mode" in settings-applications-development.
This fixed for me a lot of frustration with navigon , when used in the car.
Normally after connecting power to the phone in my car, I got popup menu with choice of how to connect, like choice of mass storage, mediaplayer etc. I pressed the back button to get rid of it. Then I started Navigon which showed lot of lag and FC many times during a trip.
After setting usb debug, I don't get this choice menu anymore, and Navigon works like a charm.
Furthermore if I want to transfer data from PC to SD card I still can do this by selecting mass storage in the notification bar of the phone.
Hi All,
I have got my Ideos X5 for about 2,5 weeks now and at first everything was fine. I had a battery life of about 2 full days, made it 3 days once! The response was quick and everthing was as I wanted it.
The last week however when i scroll in my menu, it's not fluent anymore, switching from screens (left and right) is not fluent anymore and i am unable to remove widgets from my homescreen. This is because when i press the widget (if you do it long enough you should be able to place it in the garbage can) it only holds it a for a fraction and then it drops it again, or it simply loads the program. Angry birds simply crashes after like 5-10 games for another example. When i do a quadrant test at that moment, it scores like 1000.
Now the strange thing is: this is not all the time. Sometimes it has these problems, sometimes it works fluently, no problems, no crashes, quadrant of 1400.
I tried to find out if it was a particular application that was running that caused it, but i ended every application that i've downloaded so far and it still occurs.
Anyone have any idea what it could be and how to solve the problem?
Tnx!
What Rom are you running?
I use the stock os.
build number: V100R001c00b135sp01
custom version: Custdeuc253d001
so i guess B135?
Hi all, quick update. I think i might have found the answer to my problems.... I downloaded this battery app earlier and i removed it now. This night cost 0% battery (earlier it sometimes cost 30%) and angry birds didn't crash even though i played for like an hour and alle screens work fluently again. Lets hope it stays that way! (otherwise i'll be back )

Every battery saving app is oNLY for stupid people who don't know what is their phone and how to lower brighness or disable GPS. Apps CAN NOT make any difference in battery life, only shorting it. Cause it's again only just one more app running in background and using phone resources - and it's from battery.
Hello Guys
Can any one help and advice why A lot of Apps are opening and working in the mobile background spontaneously without being opened by me !!
And i have to use task killer app to kill these apps opening spontaneously and consuming memory !!
ROM MIUI 2.3.7

It's just how android manages memory. Android Free memory is a wasted memory. So it uses almost all memory, yet when you really need it, all RAM is freed in an instant.
What about using CPU time and battery consumption when 35+ apps resides, can't really say..
The battery drain is too much high now on Android, i am charging the mobile about 3 times per day (due to my work nature --> calls, emails,...), while on windows mobile it was almost 1 time for the whole day, is this because the spontaneously opened apps in background or due to what ?
