View full file name and extension in file explorer? - HD2 General

Is there a way? i can't see any settings for it

I dont know in File Explorer, but you can in Resco Explorer

There is no way in file explorer to do this.
As said above, use Resco, or Total Commander (I chose the latter because it's free).

WM6 sounds anybody?

Not sure if anyone has posted these elsewhere, happy to remove this if they have. I did a quick search as I was after the WM6 sounds (they're so much better than WM5!) to no avail. As I still have my Hermes I thought I would just copy them and see if anyone else wanted them.

I tried this this morning and as most of the files are .wma I had to convert them to wav before it would see them. If anyone needs these posting I can put them up here.

Here you go. Just checked, all the file names are the same, just had to convert everything to .wav
Let me know if anything is wrong!
EDIT: Can't upload the file, the ftp keeps timing out. Will try again in a bit!

Cool! Was just about to do it tonight!!
Perhaps you could upload it to rapidshare? If you don't, I'll mirror the files on FTP with my Rapidshare premium account so that it won't expire.
Here they are - the issue was the size of some of the phone ringtones, so I've left them as .wma since they will work as ringtones, just not any other sounds.
And here's the rapidshare link! Thanks, findus!

System write protected files
Unfortunately overwriting existing files is not so easy as the current files are write-protected system files!
Instead rename the new files to something like e.g. from 'Alarm 1' (original file) rename new file to 'Alarm 1_WM6'.
just copy the '_WM6' part and paste to the end of each filename.
Once done drop all new files into 'Windows' directory and select your chosen sounds in the 'sounds and notification' app in;
settings/personal/Sounds & Notifications
works for me
I don't have any problem with the protected files. I just press on Overwrite All and it worked just fine.

Did you use Resco? That should do it, not sure if the built in File Explorer lets you do it

Tried File Explorer and then Total Commander. OK I'll try Resco Explorer 2007. Thanks for the help, but to be honest it works just fine as is now. lol.

Yes I'm using Resco Explorer 2007. Ah I guess that's why. I have been using resco explorer for many years from previous versions. So I didn't notice that using other explorer wouldn't work.

That's it. I'm converting right now. I always thought that Resco Ex... was good for just registry tweaking and I already became accustomed to Total Commander, but I can see the benefits clearly now. Thanks again jlingo.
Resco Explorer does the job!!
Thanks jlingo & findus. Resco Explorer is the nuts. Did it with no problems.
Did't realise what I'd been missing all these years.

I never had this problem... I just used activesync and replaced all of the files from my computer. Went smoothly and all files are working just fine with just one minor problem. The audio quality is nowhere near as nice as the originial when I replaced the sounds already on the phone. They are kinda distorted and the audio quality isnt very good.

thanks in advance.
@ +Que PPC,
In case you don't get the cab, try to use Resco Explorer. I know it isn't freeware, but it is a much better alternative to this version of "file explorer"
BTW, your little comment on the other thread regarding my answer was a little out of place... However, I will turn your water into beer though, just because I'm in a good mood today
It doesn't matter

I know that it supports transfer via BT. I haven't used all of its features, so I am not sure about that. Here is the link to their site, which might help a bit...

Yup, like he said, although I used Resco Explorer, but you need to pay for it, very good though, in either way abandon the default file explorer, and save yourself hassle.
thanks for that. i tried it and its really useful.. thanks again..

Do you mean like a recycle bin on a PC? There isn't one of them. If that's not what you mean, could you explain a little more?

Unless he activated using Resco Explorer...If that's the case, yes, it's exactly like the recycle bin on a PC. So, it's up to you to decide if you want to permanently delete the content or not!

Ah, okay. I don't use Resco - I'm a Total Commander
I take it that only works for files deleted in Resco then?

Good question! Actually, I've not tried it. First of all, as I use only Resco for deleting files, they would show up in the recycle bin! But, I disabled the feature altogether
I'm the kind of person who mainly does shift+delete on his PC, so I don't need this feature on my phone, but I can understand that some people would find it useful.
Ah well, I had to test it! So, good guess John. File deleted with Resco -> goes to the recycle bin and you can restore it to its original location.
File deleted with Windows File Explorer -> file is gone for ever.
