Hard to believe I've been using my Athena for almost 2 1/2 years straight now. Its had a few drops but none recently. Lately I've been thinking that the color white on the screen has a slight pink shade to it. Anyone else notice this? White looks white everywhere else so I don't think its my eyes!
I take it from the 40 thread views but no replies that nobody else has seen this on their Athena. Happy to see this isn't a common issue.

Hello, I found this spot on my screen last night. I don't think it dirt or fingerprint because I clean it very well but the spot on the screen is still there. Anyone has experience or has seen this before? any help would be appreciated.
Couldn't you have chosen any worse? I can't even see what you're talking about but I see a little glowing area on the darkest picture.
It could be the light bleeding on the non-edge portions of the screen that some peopl said spontaneously developed after using it for a while. But without better pictures I can't tell. Either the problem isn't big enough or your camera isn't able to focus well enough or you took poor pictures. I think you should take them with a darker background bcause really the left most picture is the only one "I think" I see something in.
I do not see anything wrong as well. Are you sure it's not your imagination?
well I had the background all black and hold my tab horizontally across my eyes. Everywhere else on the screen is black except for that spot. When I surf the web or reading something, that spot make everything look brighter compare to the rest of the screen. I can try to make a video for it tonight.
Looks like light bleed. Mine has that too

So I just got my i9505 yesterday, and I noticed there are some faint vertical and horizontal "streaks" on the screen that are most apparent when displaying grey. It's pretty subtle, but it's definitely there. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know what it is or if it's normal?

Hey! This kind of issue has been happening to lots of S4 users. Including me. I got my i9505 three days ago and as soon as I started using it I realized that wasn't normal, for I have already had plenty of Samsung smartphones such as S3, S2, Note II, I. I have researched and tried to understand what the hell is going on but some people say it is a software problem. Others say Sammy could be using "a cheaper display". Although in this case we're talking about full hd displays.
Hope I have helped.
Bye.
I have this issue too.
the vertical ones aren't very noticeable but I have 2 very obvious horizontal streaks through my screen about 3mm thick, splitting the screen into thirds quite perfectly.
I have replaced one handset already for this reason and my replacement is the same, just less obvious, so I decided to put up with it.
Here's an example of my screen on grey background.

mine had one streak horizontal streak slightly above half way. but also this seem to make the top half of the screen slightly blue. The top of the phone had different colors to the bottom. its very noticable.
took mine back.
I have this issue too....... 2 horizontal streaks......
Hey
Had my Nexus 10 for a couple of weeks. Everything working great until I noticed a strange area on the screen. Its most prominent on blacks and when the brightness is 100%. It kinda looks like the colour has faded and has a purple tint. It doesn't seem to change when the screen is pressed. The pics attached explain it better, although apologies for poor quality
The tablet hasn't been dropped or exposed to water. The marks are not present when the screen is off.
It's in warranty so I don't mind sending it back, but thought I'd check and see if anyone else has experienced this / has advice.
Cheers!

I believe this is what they call a screen burn-in.
I saw an interesting issue with 2 G2 Phones when I went to upgrade today and I wanted to see if others saw the same artifacts.
1.) When holding the screen under bright light, it looks like you can see "through" something and it appears like you can see a pattern of some sort either on the LCD itself or maybe some sort of polarizer. If this was the only thing I noticed it wouldn't have been an issue.
2.) When on a dark or black screen, you can see vertical "stripes" of dotted white lines. This was the deal breaker for me. I purchased the upgrade, they handed it to me and all I could see were these vertical stripes of white dots across the screen.
The other G2 did this as well. Were these a bad batch of G2s? Is this some sort of artifact of the IPS screen? I was coming from a Droid HD which had nothing of the sort but it isn't nearly as high resolution of a screen.
I ended up with a Note 3 because of this. It wasn't my first choice, but there was no way I could look at those stripes for 2 years!
Are any others seeing this artifact on the screen?
Thanks!
It's the digitizer. All G2's are that way I believe. Not a defect. Some phones you can just see it more than others.
OP let me get this straight, you don't like the phone because of the dot matrix you see when the phone is off and in direct sunlight?
You are right I couldn't live with looking at my phone while off for 2 years

It's when the screen is BLACK or DARK while the screen is on. I think whomever suggested the digitizer is probably right.
One of the artifacts didn't really bother me, I was more so fascinated by the pattern than anything else. To see that one the light had to be intense and direct (screen on or off) so very low likelihood of that impacting day to day use.
The artifact that really bothered me was, for lack of a better explanation, the white dots on the screen that looked like backlight bleeding through tiny vertical perforations in the LCD panel. I'm sure that's not actually what it was, but that's what it looked like to me. I'll probably end up with a G2 in addition to the Note, but I wanted to know if the ones I looked at were part of a defective batch or not.
Thanks
Hey everyone,
I just got an S8 and am curious if a display artifact I'm seeing is normal for AMOLED or not. I tried getting a picture, but it is too faint to pick up clearly. What I'm seeing is that any dark horizontal line on a light background creates a faint ghost of the line extending to the screen's edges. The more black visible, the stronger the ghost. The ghost looks like a light single pixel strip at the top if the line and a slightly dimmer one at the bottom edge.
I see similar artifacts on my old plasma TV. It's like there is a total voltage limit per pixel row. If this is normal (it really is feint) then I don't necessarily care, but if it's a defect I will do an RMA. To replicate, look at an all white image with a few black lines running horizontally, but not all the way to the edge. You should see slight ghosting "finishing" the lines if this isn't just me. Thanks for any insight/help you all can provide.
Edit: just noticed the breadcrumb/forum path right here in XDA (its black underlines) cause the issue, so there's an easier repro.
Hi, could you either detail or link your solution? I'm pretty new and couldn't find it by searching.
Sadly I don't have a solution, just a problem I haven't had a chance to check another S8 to see if the problem is just with my unit, or all units. I did check an S7 Edge, and I couldn't create the problem, but that's still not exactly apples to apples. Will post again if I learn anything, but nothing so far.
Well from your description, I'm pretty sure I have the exact same problem on S8+, and although it is really feint, we've spent so much on these phones, that that little line to me is just infuriating, and I can't stop noticing it. I'd imagine it is actually quite common, but only a minute amount of people will have even noticed it. Will talk to Samsung tomorrow and see what they say about it.
Hi,
is this anything like this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/ghost-shadow-issue-black-text-white-t3576934 ? I`d also like to know if this "featrure" or bug.
Thanks

i have this problem too do you know of a solution.
Checked on my S8 but could not replicate your issue.
I think this is related to your particular device. It is a hardware issue which you should fix it by either sending your phone to Samsung or to local repair shop.
