Hi guy's, I have a question regarding the timestamps on SMS messages received in Windows Mobile messenger on my TP2. Throughout the day I can see the times that my messages arrived next to the date displayed, however, after 24 hours if I go back into the inbox and swipe back up to those messages I only see the dates.... Is there anyway to change the settings to allow the times to stay next to the dates or is that not possible?
Thanks a lot for the info!

This same question was raised a few days ago in THIS thread...but I don't believe anybody has come up with any way to get around that yet

There's one friend who I text regularly, and I'm not sure how many messages I have from her, but today something strange happened.
I received a message from her and it looked like it came from a different number because it started a new thread. Then I realised there wasn't another thread, and for a moment I thought I'd lost all the messages. But then I noticed they still appear on the TouchFlo.
When I tap any message from her before the first message of the new thread, it opens the message in the old style (i.e. as if threading is switched off).
I thought maybe I'd accidentally moved all the messages. But they don't appear in any other folder, and they are definitely in my inbox, which I confirmed with Jeyo Mobile Companion.
So, shall I just continue with the new thread and ignore the last messages? Is there definitely a limit? Is there any other threading software?
I have never heard anything like this before.

Haven't heard or experienced anything like this. Usually you have a max limit of approx 50 sms in your inbox (not conversations with someone using threaded sms, but actual sms from diffrerent people), but it shouldn't behave like yours.
I'm assuming this female is (very) close to you and you do not want to delete previous sms? I would delete them and use new thread and see if same thing happens
Hi there, just by habit I never delete any of the threaded text messages to and from my girlfriend, and so there must be over well 2000 in the conversation.
The same thing happened to me once, I just assumed there was a limit on a conversation size, and so it started a new one. It's a shame how it deals with the old one though, stopping the threading. I sync'ed all the old messages using Microsoft myphone and deleted it, just leaving the new thread.
Access old thread?

This exact thing has just happened to me, also texting the girlfriend ... She has told me things that i have probably agreed to and since forgoten, is there any way to look at the old thread as the touch flow only allows me to go back 25 messages from all contacts. They must still be there as some of them are still in the 25 touch flow messages, unless it has its own cache?
FYI my best estimate would be some where in the region of 1000 - 1500 sms, double that with replies so is there a thread limit of 2500 or 3000?
Any ideas?
SMS limit
Exactly same happened to me this morning...I am using the HTC 6.1 WWE Rom on my ATT tilt.
No thread of older sms but they are in my inbox (confirmed by disabling the threaded sms). Mine too have 3000+ sms on my tilt.
Do any one get the fix/work arond for the sam to see the older sms in threaded form.

Approximately 2740 sms in a sigle thread as i met that situation. any ideas??
Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with the time stamps on my text messages. The ones that I send are okay, however the ones that I receive all have different times on them. For example:
If I send a text at 8:15PM and receive a reply right away, it'll show my text sent at 8:15PM, but the reply will have a back dated time... Maybe 5PM, 4PM... something like that.
Any ideas why?
Thanks!
I find this but its by no means universal. some messages I recive are an hour ahead others are not. I recived two messages at almost the same time & one of them had the wrong time. I can't wait for the new update to fix all of these little issues
I've seen this problem since my G1. It's still suffering from it, as is my Magic and my Hero.
I'm still having the same issue.
My received text messages show a time of 4 hours behind.
So if I send a text at 6:30 and receive a reply at 6:32, it shows 2:32 as the received time.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? I have updated to the latest (leaked) firmware, but still no luck.
Thanks!
Are you all on the same network? Might not be the phone because i've never noticed this

Was just going to ask this... What network are you on, have you set network location to automatic by carrier, if so, set it manually to the city / country you are in.
I'm on O2 and have been using the network provided values.
I've set it to manual and text someone at 12:44. The reply came in a little while after and was stamped 12:45 so no issue there it seems. Strange.
I'm now getting issues now with texts in fairly quick succession.
The time stamps can be the same i.e. 21:17 but a reply from someone will sometimes appear before my original text in thread view.
Also a reply came in to one of my texts with a time stamp before my original text. This was displayed "correctly" as before my text, but the fact its timestamped in this way can't be right.
Anyone else seen this?
It's like the phone is looking at minutes for accuracy, not seconds. Also taking the timestamp of when a text was sent from the other person's phone as the time received to my phone. Hm :/
I get this on Orange when I receive a message from the US. All my outgoing messages are listed at the bottom of the conversation, while the one received from the US are at the top.
UK based conversations are all threaded correctly.
Ok thanks.
It never used to be like this so I'm wondering after prolonged use the sms database gets a bit corrupted somehow?
For me it seems to behave like this: for outgoing (sent) messages I see the time that is set on Hero. For incoming messages, however, Hero shows the time on the network provider.
I assume there is some header in SMS message containing the time, and Hero uses that instead of using the time Hero has when the message arrives.
I started using the Network Provider time (automatic) to get rid of this.
I was just looking down at my SMS inbox (I wish there was a way to default to the inbox style rather than having to select it each time)
anyway...my message times are wrong.
eg I received a message at 8.00am this morning..looks ok
I received another one at 12.30...however, my phone reports this as being 12.30am....not pm....
anyone else have that?
That happens to me when receiver/sender are in different time zones...
wellmy mate is only an hour down the road, so it's not that thats causing it
SMS receipt time incorrect
I'm having the same issue. It seems to only happen at midnight or noon.
I work from noon til midnight. I have text conversations throughout the day with many people on the same schedule. After work we talk (via text) and the new texts are listed before the text conversation prior to midnight.
It's weird that not all the texts come in that way. 1 will, then I reply, then they reply (comes in normal) then their next reply is listed before all others. Kinda confusing, but now that I know what its doing, I can follow it. But would love a fix.
Hello,
For the past couple days while I was on a camping trip I have had a really annoying problem. I cannot receive text messages right now- or rather, I cannot view them. What will happen when I get a text message is that it will show up on the today screen- I will see the "text 1", but when I go to view the text, it takes me to the inbox- but the text isn't there. This has happened with a dozen texts over a few days, before and after a soft reset, and hasn't -not- happened to any texts. I haven't been able to get/view any new texts for several days. I know that texts are actually coming, because I can send myself a text from vtext.com and my phone will show that I have a new text- but I can't see it in my inbox. Also, I once caught a text right as it was coming in and was able to read the first part of it, but when I went to reply... it wasn't there.
I am using RyanMogul's light ROM, latest build.
I have two questions:
How can I stop this from happening?
Can I view the texts I have lost over the past few days?
Thank you!

Well, I figured out how I can view the old texts, sort of- I did a PIM backup with compression and binary turned off, then copied that file to my PC, unarchived it with 7-zip, then opened the messages folder in notepad (or excel). The message text was buried in plaintext among a lot of code.
I am not sure what caused this, the only thing I really know is that when PIM backup prompted me for what to back up, it showed _two_ messages sections. Odd. I also discovered I'd lost the ability to sent texts.
I figure I'll just re-flash and see if that fixes the problem. I'll hold off on going to another ROM because I don't want to chance losing my hard-won GPS capability.
My wife and I have both having this problem with our HD2. I searched both the US and EU forums for a solution, maybe I searched the wrong terms. I posted in the Energy thread as well as I am running an Energy ROM. No solution yet. Posting here for better visibility.
With my phone only certain contacts take days to get messages. Some contacts get them right away as they should. My wife's phone takes days for any and all SMS to reach any and all contacts. Needless to say I need to fix this ASAP.
I am running the 9/4 Energy GTX and my wife is one the 8/28 Energy GTX, both 23xxx. I have the NRGZ28 HTC messaging cab installed via XDA_UC on both phones.
UPDATE:
So I was trying a few things I had found with my phone to get things working again. My wife finally brings me her phone and I send my phone a test message from her phone. I get it immediately then immediately get messages on her phone from several people saying that they just received all the messages she had tried to send them for the last couple days. One person said they just received over 15 messages at one time. Her phone seems to be working fine now as far as we can tell. She is still not getting my text messages. I also noticed that If I select a contact and try to view the conversation in that manner there are no messages.
Go to the messages tab, then click on all messages, then click touch menu then settings then options, then scroll down till you see delivery change that to immediate. That should fix your problem

I will try that on my wife's phone when I get home. I do think I am just going to re-flash her phone just in case. I am somewhat confident that it was an issue with installing HTC messaging onto the Energy ROM. Uninstalling it via application management (I did this on my phone) completely hoses messaging in general.
I have flashed my phone to Energy's September 8th GTX ROM (no HTC messaging?) and did not install the HTC messaging cab. All seems well now. The thing I did not like about the messaging client that Energy uses (Standared WM? messaging) is the stupid comic bubble display for messages. I found where to turn that off though so I don't feel the need to have HTC messaging installed/enabled.
