I have an HTC HD2 with the last italian ROM 1.66.408.1 and TomTom navigator 7.915.9196. Now I can use TomTom only with the GSM phone activated; in any other situation, even with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi activated, TomTom tells that my HTC is in flight mode and so it doesn't find satellites. The problem is that I wish to use TomTom while driving without being disturbed by incoming calls. I have tried TomTom 7.916, but the problem remains.
Before having this HD2, I had an HTC Touch HD, and the same version of TomTom, but it had not this problem: it was enough to activate Bluetooth only, and TomTom worked.

I have installed Tom Tom 3 software on my XDA 2 and it "freezes" during navigation for no apparent reason. It also crashes the nav software when the phone has an incoming call. Have spoken to both 02 and Tom Tom who both blame each other (no change there then) have updated software from both and completley cleared software with a hard reboot and re-installed Tom Tom to no avail.
Any ideas???
Which type of gps are you using, what are your gps settings, are you using bluetooth tools, are you using the latest gps driver from www.tomtom.com, does it crash only on incoming call. :?:
Are you using the Traffic plug-in? that's really buggy and works poorly - used to crash mine regularly (xda II w/ bluetooth)
I am now using for 4 days the 1.72 ROM (incl the essential Extended Rom stuff). I bonded my BT GPS, it configured automatically COM5.
Since then I occasionally have freezes in the TomTom navigator (TTN & TTGPS 3.03): Navigation screen seems to 'hang'. I am able to tap the screen though and exit TomTom the official way. When I restart TTN it works again until the next unpredictable freeze.
No direct link to the Phone application.
Beforehand I used the 1.72 ROM with some 1.60.36 T-Mobile customizations (incl. some bluetooth stuf in OEM_WWE_03120301.sa.CAB ). At first this gave some trouble, but after fiddling around (install Pocket Bluetools & de-installed it) I managed to connect my BT GPS using 'Bluetooth GPS' in TomTom3 and it all worked like a charm. Only setback was that I could not approach my Bt GPS via a COM port. (And I want that to occasionally enable/disable WAAS/EGNOS)
Any clues???
You know sounds that come out of a radio when you put a phone next to it??
Well my xda2i makes the sound when running tomtom and it then freezes and needs a reset.
It does it every 5 minutes!! and i cannot use my XDA2i in the car!!
Any solution to this?
Also if i could switch on flight mode and have bluetooth ON as well would be great. I do not use the phone for calls as its on the data tariff
Anyone know how to use bluetooth in flight mode?
Please help..
I appreciate
Cheers

anyone as i got a road trip later

Hi the way I turn on the flight mode is thru the profiles option under the tools tab on th o2 today screen, then i turn on the bluetooth and it works fine. If you turn on the flight mode by taping on the signal meter and then select flight mode you cannot activete bluetooth.
Hope this helps.
with the xda2i you need to apply the tom tom upgrades for use with the phone - also worth turning of any email dial up programs.
I also found Tom tom did not like my maps being on the SD card (I had a cheap unbranded one) - kept hanging..
Flight Mode seems to ease the hanging, but at least once a journey it hangs. How do you install maps onto the memory, they are MASSIVE. I've heard installing TomTom on memory and maps on SD card works, just not sure how to do this, anyone know?
Perhaps dj swift should ask the wikids!
Hi All,
I'm running the new Rom for a week now and i'm very happy with it.
Although I my Jamin has reset itself once or twice my SD card never dissappeard.
There's a new problem I'm having:
When I start TomTom 5.21 my GPS (Adapt) and activate my bluethoot GPS TomTom keeps telling me there's no GPS..
When I delete the partnership from the Bluetooth settings, then create a new partnership.. it says BT GPS wants to connect, and I have to enter the pin. After This my GPS is working again.. Untill I power of my GPS.
Anyone had the same experience.. or even better... the solution?
Thanks.
Hi , I'm running Copilot and noot had any issue. i no longer use TomTom due to their incompatability. It always seems you have to have an update with every new device with them.
Not very helpful I know but I would hazard a guess its due to TomTom and not your upgrade.
I have an adapt (ad-700) receiver and do not have any problem. I always start the gps device first and then tomtom (tomtom activates bluetooth by itself).
I also get the message "no device" but after 10 seconds or so it finds the gps mouse.
Thank you all. Tried reinstalling TomTom.. after some a couple of try's it worked finally. Thank you for the response.
I have a problem with my MDA Vario and TomTom Navigator 5.21.
I got it working with my GPS receiver (Holux GR-230) via Bluetooth COM 7.
But I have a second phone with car kit. So I switched the GSM/Phone function off on my MDA Vario and wanted to navigate. But TomTom indicates that it couldn't find a GPS device. So I removed and paired my Holux receiver again. 'New Partnership' could find my Holux receiver. But TomTom again couldn't find my GPS device. I checked if Bluetooth is on.
When I switched the GMS/Phone function on on my MDA Vario everything worked well again. TomTom can find the GPS.
So it seems that if you switch off the GSM/Phone function TomTom can't find the GPS device.
What can I do to get it working without het GSM/Phone function on?
I take it you had switched it into "Flight Mode".
This disables ALL the radio functions and as a result, you are left with a PDA that has no GSM, BT or WiFi.
I suppose the only way to use the unit without any GSM is to take the SIM card out.
I am sure someone will come along and correct me on that, LOL
If you go in the communications manager, you should be able to shut off just the Phone and keep bluetooh and/or WiFi on. I have not tested the ability to use bluetooth in this fashion, but I can't imagine why you couldn't.
Workaround found
Thanks for the reactions.
I am able to shut just the Phone off and keep bluetooh on (by using the communications manager). I even swithced off the Phone and left Bluetooth on and then started TomTom. But it can't find the GPS device anymore.
Luckily I remembered that with a dual SIM only the first SIM that connects with the GSM network has the connection.
So my workaround is:
1. Switch off the Phone off my MDA Vario
2. Turn my other GSM on
3. Switch the Phone on off my Mda Vario
And so I can use my other GSM for phone calls (via my carkit) and use my MDA Vario for Navigation.
Still curious though about how I could get it working otherwise.
I'm just going crazy with this problem:
I installed TT6 on the I-mate Jamin, connected to the BT GPS Holux GPSlim236 and it was working. After some hours or days, when I launch TT6, it does not recognize the BT GPS, it displays " no GPS (flight mode)" also if BT is active on the pda.
I tried also to update the firmware to the LvsW AKU 2.3.1 that should be very stable but the problem arised again. If I install again TT& it works again for some hour only.
Anothe strange behaviour is that TT6 is not trying to activate automatically the BT when launched, while after the installation it was.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance
did you disabled the phone?
when the phone is off, even if bluetooth is on, tomtom can not communicate with any bluetooth gps.
a new hope...
Maybe yes, I disabled the phone, as I was doing in my previous iPaq WM2003. I will follow your indication and give feedback asap. The strange thing is that other GPS programs are working with the BT GPS even if the phone is disabled.
Thank you! I could solved it!
Thank you, adl67-san, zadigre-san.
I had same problem with my QTEK9000 & TomTom6.
The problem was TomTom6 can not find GPS receiver(Holux GPSlim240).
But after Phone function is ON, it works well.
(Normally, I use my QTEK9000 without SIM.)
This problem has bother me for 1 month.
Now I can use it.
Thanks a lot again.
Sincerely yours,
