Hello, I first got a G1 yesterday, it was only unlocked, not rooted or anything. It seems whenever I put the phone on charge it becomes really whacky. The phone doesn't respond nearly as well and isn't really accurate. Sometimes you have to tap an icon and it takes seconds to finally notice what you did. Swiping screens is such a task and same with dragging down the notifications bar.
I ended up rooting it last night, the same problems still persist.
This only happens when charging. Once you unplug it, it works just like it should. Plug it back in, problems occur again.
Thanks for any help.
This is apparently quite common.
My phone gets a little strange when it's plugged in, with the touchscreen being a little off, but nothing as bad as yours.
Weird..
Hmph, I'll be fine with it. Don't use it too much while charging. Except for general messaging. Haven't really tried to see if that's laggy or whatever while charging.

For about 3 days now my wizard (G3) started switching off randomly, losing time/date settings after being turned off for a longer period. I've been using it happily for a year now, with pretty much no issues whatsoever. The first time it happened, I guess it was too cold, cause I'm wearing it on my shoulder in its default leather case/bag. After powering on the sound was somewhat distorted - everything sounded as if played at a different frequency - faster and a tone or two higher. After a soft-reset the sound was back to normal, but then the other issues started - sometimes it'll lock on boot-screen, sometimes, it will power off again just after powering on and entering the PIN-code, or just silently turn off while hibernating.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Similar experiences?
I haven't updated the ROM since the first update to Molski's (WM5) about a year ago, shortly after buying it, and it's been fine so far, never had the time to deal with another update with the whole plenty of ROMs available. I don't thing it would have anything to do with that.
ALSO: Is there any logging utility or anything that could provide any clues as for the reason why it switches off? (edit)
Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!

I have a Cingular 8125. It has been working great with the stock ROM for over a year now.
In the last few weeks, it has started to exhibit the same strange behavior that yours has. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, it will be sitting at the password screen like it rebooted over night. I keep it on the charger all night though!? Also, in the middle of the day it will just shut off. When I try to reboot it, it shuts off again during startup. It usually keeps doing this over and over again. It seems that the only way I can make it reboot is to plug it into a charging cable.
The other day at about 11am, after charging all night, my phone gave me a little beep. When I looked at the screen it said that the battery was dangerously low and I should recharge. Before I had a chance to do anything, it shut off! I pulled the batter out and inspected it. It seemed a little bit bulged in the middle. I am not sure if it is dead but I am pretty sure there is something wrong with it.
Needless to say, a new battery is on the way!
I've had my 6800 for several months now, running a DCD ROM from about 2 months ago. Love the phone, love the ROM. This morning however I lit the phone up and everything seemed OK until I needed to make a phone call. I tapped the "call" button and nothing happened. Tried the "messages" button and same thing. Every button is inop except for the power button (well, the networks button worked once but then it stopped working as well.) I did check the "buttons" setup and everything was mapped correctly. I've rebooted multiple times. I noticed that the unit was getting unusually hot. I use it all the time and have never felt it this hot. Then out of the blue it throws a low battery warning (at 1pm? Never, ever happened before.) I've got it charging now, but something is certainly wrong with the phone. Anyone run into this before?

Your phone might over heat if you leave the phone charging for too long or if you are using it extensively while your charging it.
Also if you leave your phone charging for more then it is supposed to, It will lower the performance of your battery. So once your battery is done charging you should unplug it from the power cord.
I am not sure about why your buttons are not working. It would be that it got stuck in in standby mode because of lack of memory. I usually soft reset once a day or once every two days to keep my phone running smoothly.
I see where you're coming from, but the overheating is happening with it in standby with no charger connected. It really starts to cook when I bring it out of standby and use it. I've also done multiple soft resets at this point.

Is your phone running alot of processes in the background? how much free RAM do you have at startup?
Also, the worst case scenario is that you have a faulty battery or phone.
My phone has never over heated but it has heated up when I leave it on the charger for too long.
I think my wing is beyond saving at this point but I wanted to check here and see if anyone had any suggestions. 100% of the time that I send a text and slide the face closed right after I do that the phone will shut itself off. If I recieve a text or a phone call about 15-20% of the time the phone will just lock up but not reboot. It is totally hit or miss when I reboot it, some times it'll boot back up then freeze, some times it'll boot up and work for a while til it reboots again, some times it'll get stuck in a boot loop. Every once in a while when I boot, the screen will go all fuzzy, almost like a computer with a bad video card. Now I have flashed the rom back to factory, I have done a hard reset, and none of this has fixed it yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Before you give up. Try something first. Does the Wing have this behavior if it is plugged in to its charger. If it behaves well when plugged in, then most likely you have a bad battery.
cant believe i didn't think of that already. plugged it in and everything has been fine for a couple hours now. I just ordered a new batter for like 12$, good lookin out, thanks.
I had a fully rooted evo, themed, etc. So I am a noob to the Epic but not android or working with app's etc. I did a search of the forum and I did not see anything that related to the exact issue I am having.
All of a sudden, about an hour ago, my phone just started telling me my battery is at 0%, I did a battery pull and it put me at like 80% (which makes sense, I charged it all night). I have it plugged into my work computer at the moment to give it some "juice" but even that is not allowing my phone to turn on for more than the boot screen loading up to homescreen, then immediately powering off.
I have not downloaded anything new on my phone, I have not attempted to root this phone, nothing special at all.
A couple of times when it HAS come to the homescreen those few seconds, there is a strange dark grey rectangle on my screen and it says "relaunch me" with an emoticon above it (in the box but above the words).
I think that may be a widget alert for my digital time widget but I can't say for sure.
So out of this long-winded explanation I'm basically trying to figure out wth made my battery just give out? And even charging it is not helping.
No I have not dropped it nor dropped anything on it either.
I would try another battery. Maybe it's a bad battery. Go to sprint and ask them to try another battery. I don't know why your battery would do that. Good luck
I had this issue!

I had this same problem, I went to sprint and they swapped out battery, charger, and cable and all is well now! been working fine ever since....
I believe I caused the issue through odining a bunch of times and unplugging and replugging! but my phone would give me a yellow exclamation mark! and say something like can't charge battery!
Looks like I'm going to have to take it to the Sprint store. I just tried another Samsung cable for my sisters epic 4g to make sure and it's doing same thing. Thank you for the responses.
*fingers crossed*
If you are still by your sister, try her battery. That will eliminate another possible item (you might also try your battery in her Epic)

I had similar issues and had to get a replacement (under warranty). I think it was one of the copper battery connectors coming lose (on the phone side) it was sticking out noticeably compared to the other one. It eventually wouldn't turn on at all, plugged in or not. I'd back up what you can and go visit Mr. Sprint.
My Epic has the same problem... it would just turn off. Now the screen won't turn back on after timing out while charging, i have to unplug it then hit the power button multiple times.
Good day XDA peeps! I have a problem with my S6e+. Sometimes the screen just randomly shuts off but I can still use the touchscreen. Example is if someone's calling me i will just swipe the screen to the right even if I cannot see anything because good thing I got the commands memorize in my head. It does that randomly.
It started doing this problem when I was using the fast charger. I noticed that when using fast charger my screen is just black, but I can use the touchscreen. It will light up around 80% battery (maybe when my phone is not hot anymore from charging). But when I untick the fast charging option, it doesn't make my screen black. But now, the problem is getting worse and worse. It sometimes shut off by itself. I need to try around 10-20 times by pressing the power button until it shows me the display. I've tried doing a clean install in Odin by flashing a stock MM 6.0.1 but the problem still persists.
What could be the problem of my phone? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
