hey guys, over in the dream/g1 dev forum thw roms are all made for non ebi1 phones and i must apply the brian crook kernals to them.
Am i correct in saying that i can install the roms made for magic 32A phones on my dream as the magic 32a is just like the 32b dream with the ebi1 3.something radio?
From what I understand. Yes.
If your Dream is EBI1 aka 3.22.XX.XX, you want to apply the rom then apply the kernel patch for EBI1 radios.
its great that i know this but there are lots of g1 ebi1 users now who probably dont know that this section of the forum is where they should be

hey guys
why is it 32A devices get all the cool ROMs? I have only saw a few 32B roms
That's because the 32B ROMs are in the Dream forum. Most G1 ROMs work on 32B too.
Actually, the most advanced ROMs come to G1/32B first. The best Android devs (Eugene, Manup and friends) don't cook for 32A.
great! thanks for the link. I'll defo look at them when i get my magic in 2 days!
as it says on the topic......
Any Devs working on roms for New MT3G 1.2 32a board??
would love to see a solid 2.1 rom for this device..
Do the regular 32A builds not work?

yeah, if this thing is 32a, I would say follow the how too root a magic guide...although we need a few fearless people to confirm for us.
no they dont.. the radio is different to a regualr 32a... and since the newmytouch 3g has the 3.5mm jack, the drivers are different.... so if we can get some devs cooking some roms it would be great!!!...
hey guys, back when I was on the EBI1 radio for my phone I would use magic port to make my kernals (to boot 32b roms)

This seems to be outdated, is there something new everyone uses or am I missing something?

Ever find anything out on this? I too am curious..
I've already rooted the phone using Cyanogen's wiki. Here's my phone info from fastboot:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPH31000)
CLPD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02

Couple things I'm not clear on:
1. The whole 32A/32B thing. For example, I have a 32A, but I can only flash 32B roms. Flashing a 32A rom makes it hang on black screen after the HTC Magic logo.
2. I've read that the MyTouch 1.2 and Fenders are all 32A. I've also read that for the phone to work properly, the stock SPL and radio have to be used. If that's the case, how are people running the 32A ROMs in the development section that require different SPLs and radios?
I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how to flash a 32A ROM on my MT3G 1.2 phone if they require non-stock SPL/radio and when I'm reading that I can't use anything but stock versions.
I'm probably mixing up old and new info, but I'm really confused. Flashing my Nexus One is so much easier
you got it mostly right.
The mytouch 1.2/Fender is a hybrid magic. It has the mainboard of the 32a (with 288mb RAM), but the radio of the MT3G 32b/G1, a new touch screen driver, and the 3.5mm audio jack.
So, really, someone named Zinx was able to make kernel patches to make it work. These patches were applied the CM 32b kernel. So any rom based on CM5.0.7test 2 kernel or higher has the needed drivers to work with the 1.2/fender le.
the true HTC magic 32a has a different radio. This is why the dev section is mostly of 32a with old radio/new radio ROMs. the 32b phones are just G1 with out the keyboards...
Basically you need to find ROMs that have been "ported" to run on the 1.2. I can recommend Cyanogenmod 5.0.8-DS. As it works really well. Make sure you look for the DS (dream/sapphire) one.

So that means I'll never be able to run a 32A ROM on this phone, which means I'll never have my full 288MB RAM available?
Thanks for the replies! It's starting to make more sense to me. And here I thought I was going crazy
Currently I'm running jojotm's Minimou with pershoot's updated kernel and it works very well. It's faster than I expected it to be which is just fine for my wife. I have a Nexus One for my needs
No, the kernal or a ported ROM will let you use the full RAM.

Every time I want to update my phone I run into this, there are instructions for 32A and 32B, but nothing about whether a given ROM is specifically compatible with the 1.2/Fender MyTouch, which I'm given to understand has its own quirks. ROM threads will have Radio/SPL requirements for 32A and 32B, but not for the 1.2
It would be nice if we could get a sticky with info specific for the 1.2/Fenders, like what Radio/SPL is a good choice, which ROMs are known to work with it, and so on.
The rule I follow:
Use 32b roms, that's it.
On roms that have autokernel, you don't have to do anything at all. it'll just work. On roms without this feature, you need to make sure you flash the right kernel.
