I'm running the lastest CM and using apps2sd.
I pulled the card out while it was on just to see what would happen. Phone turned off on its own.
Put the card back in and rebooted. Now all my apps show up but they all force close.
I reinstalled each app and now its back to normal but was there a easier way to do this. Or am i NOT suppose to remove the SD card period/
You can remove the SD card, but the phone has to be off, recovery, or fastboot. I think fix_permissions, or fix_permission I don't remember the command, might have fixed the problem.

I ran fix permissions and it ended with no errors. It then suggested to reboot the phone. I used quickboot to reboot the phone and when it came out, the SD card (16 KB SANDISK) card is reported as having errors and might need to be reformatted. I put the card in the card reader on my pc and it looks ok. I can see all the directories and even copied a 2GB map file to the pc with no issues.
Any ideas on what is causing this and how to recover without reformatting?
Thanks.
Rom Manager & SD card failure
Windows 7 did not help in any way, but a reboot to XP allowed me to scan the disk and fix any errors. Back running, case closed, but I still don't know why it happened. There is a fix permissions file left on the card, but for the time being I just going to move on. NTF, you can kill this one, if you want.
I'm usually good about searching the forums and finding fixes for all my problems (and I've had many) but I can't find an answer to my current problem.
I am not able to install apps unless I remove my sd card. Whatever problem I have with my sd card might also be why my titanium won't restore anything. I've tried clearing market data/cache, using a cache cleaner app to clean my sd card cache, I still can't figure out why I can't install apps. This is universal across roms (cleared data each time)
Are there any fixes I've missed? I'm gonna assume its an sd card issue....
Help!
i have seen that happen on a couple custom roms, but you can always just unmount the sd card then remount it after you do the install, then you could move the app to the sd card
I've tried to unmount through the settings and I get a force close everytime. I've tried terminal as well using umount /sdcard and it says "failed." I've also gone back to an old rom I was using and I get the same problem. The sd card thing is a workaround, but is there a solution? My last resort would be to reformat my sd card.....
Ill reformat today when I get home from work. Ill report back later :/
Either your card needs a reformat, or your card is going bad. The only other things that could cause these kinds of problems is if say, the SD slot in your phone was going bad, or some other circuitry connected to it, in which case your sole solution would be to get a replacement phone.
I was getting that then I did a backup of my contacts and did a factory reset then reloaded all my app from the market. Now all is good

Thanks! I havent had a chance to get to a pc. Im hoping a reformat will do the trick.
I figured it out! I was about to reformat my sd card and I remembered reading somewhere that the .android_secure folder causing market problems..... So I tried deleting the folder and my apps started installing again! Not sure why this would be but it worked!
SD card loose
I had the same problem and I noticed that the SD card had backed out of the slot a little. I pushed it back in and everything works fine now. I wish I had seen that before the hard reset.
Hello,
I have American Android on my phone. After a few weeks of stability, the screen turned black and I was unable to get the phone to respond to any buttons anymore. I took the battery out of the phone and restarted it. It's stuck in the boot screen with the cyan Android animation. It never gets past this animation.
What can I do to fix this?
Also, I tried to open USB Massstg in the magldr menu to try to backup what I had on the phone, but for some reason, my computer isn't able to read anything from the phone in that mode.

Edit: I see you mean task29. Will that remove all of the data on the SD card?
It won't touch the data on the SD card. Also, in reference to the OP, the reason USB Mass storage won't read anything from the phone is because it's used to read the SD card, not the internal storage.

I am running all of my Android builds from my SD card. They are not ROMs that I flashed to the NAND.
Since all of my Android builds are being run from my SD card, how come USB mass storage does not work? You said that it is used to read the SD card, and all of my Android builds are stored on the SD card and not internal storage, so how come my PC cannot read the SD card under Magldr's USB mass storage mode?
Will using Task 29 fix my problem. I don't have a buggy ROM since I am booting my Android builds off my SD card. Also,
I just tried to put the following SD card Android builds on my SD card, and they keep restarting at the HTC screen (also going in an infinite loop):

I guess that the American Android build isn't the problem since other SD card Android builds are doing the same thing. I am really puzzled about what is happening. No Android SD card build is working, and I cannot figure out why. They were all working before yesterday.
I realize that there is FAQ that tries to address this issue, but the context here is different. I have no Android ROM flashed. I am completely booting from an SD Android build. The FAQ says to address the partition size, but I never had to deal with partitions because I am not using an Android ROM.
If you have a backup on your SD like (titanium backup) remove your SD card from phone and use SD card reader hook up to PC copy said backup folder to desktop and reformat SD then copy folder back to root of SD and reinstall ROM files to root and clean install.

Do you know how I would get my battery fully charged? For some reason, the battery isn't getting charged when it is plugged in. I only get an infinite reboot loop.
Im having a weird issue on stock where I will just randomly lose access to my SD card even though it says its mounted in settings. When I use a file explorer it says the card is blank when I navigate there. I have a few apps that use the SD card for storage such as my camera and I dont know its not working til I try to use of of the apps which causes it to freeze up.
Rebooting the phone solves the issue until it decided to do the same thing again. Does this with two different SD cards also
I wiped the dalvik cache on my phone using flashfire and for some reason, wifi settings were erased and the apps on my SD card can't be seen by my phone (not in the app tray or application manager). Is there a fix to this?
I know that the apps are still on the card because the amount of storage used on it hasn't dropped at all.
try taking out the sd card and putting it back in. It should cause the phone to re detect the card again.
