Hi,
Is there a way to get the local YouTube app to open when clicking on a link, say like in Facebook. I was using IE the other day and this seemed to do it.
Cheers
Ian

I cannot seem to view my favourite videos saved in my Youtube account using HD2 Youtube app. I have logged in using Data Services.
Any ideas?
Youtube app doesn't use your account, in fact it doesn't use any account.
The account that you made a login in manila is for shortcuts to upload videos when you see one with the htc player and go to the options.
How pointless ...is there a Youtube app that lets you log in and view favourites?
Thank You.

As far I know no
pretty stupid thing actually, i thought the same thing but well see if htc manages to cook something up
It seems silly, but this app was around before we had data services settings in the interface. It's a legacy app, and therefore doesn't use newer features of the UI. I'd expect another version at a later date that does use more up-to-date features, but you can guarantee that the UI will change again and have new options that aren't plugged into older software.
Basically, the app wasn't written for this UI. It was written for WM.
Can you see your favourites in Opera when you browse the mobile YouTube site? You can launch videos from there.
Hello,
I am really sorry to bother you nice folks around here, but I have a problem.
A friend of mine used the Google Youtube app. He told me it was was an great app and that I should try it.
Because I trusted him, I did.
But if you install the Google Youtube app, it gets rid of your HTC Youtube App.
And we all know wich one is superior!
If I open an video through www.m.youtube.com I still get the same quality and interface as in the HTC Youtube app, so I guess my app is still hidden somewhere! I have searched everywhere on my device, but I could not find a file that redirects to the Youtube app. It's probably gone.
I found this, but is does not work on my device; http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/02...wvga-youtube-app-ported-to-vga.html#more-3424
And I can't download and try these cabs; because of restrictions due the fact that I am living in the Netherlands.

Could you guys help me out?
bump
I had the exact same problem as you.
Don't download any youtube apps.
I did and it caused more problems like the registry font tweak and search sort order
stopped working..
So I installed the youtube apps that is flying around the internet.
If you install those, the tweaks font work.
Like you said the original youtube program is stored in
Windows folder, Just create a shortcut of one of those 2 youtube files
in Windows\start menu folder.
And you will have your youtube back in perfect condition.
Now.. my question is.. is there a youtube app that lets you view comments?
The htc one is quite good, but only if it allowed us to view comments..
The Android youtube app were really good at that..
Or is there a way to make opera like the safari on iPhone?
Instead of saying browser needs flash, Iphone just creates the video link
for all youtube apps so the browser triggers the iphone youtube app to handle
those flash youtube videos...
Please tell me if there is something similar on hd2..
Thank you so much! I was looking everywhere on the device! Just overlooked this one
And no, I haven't heard of something like that.
Instead I change the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4OnhnvczTk into
http://www.m.youtube.com/watch?v=z4OnhnvczTk
That's my workaround when i get directed to a youtube link from twitter or windows live.
I just installed for fun the Facebook app, on my vanilla 3.1 tablet. I snatch it from my Galaxy S2. I like how the videos open directly into Gallery... best is to use the tablet in portrait mode.
com.facebook.katana-4606-1.6.4.apk
Edit: actually only the real Facebook videos open in Gallery, YouTube will take you directly to the site.
I used Files from Market to install the app, the best manager for a tablet IMO.
Simply extract the app and drop it into sdcard, then open it with Files.
Facebook is best in browser. No App needed.
So is on the phone, yet you use the app... let me guess, you don't.

Have you been able to get the facebook chat to work in --any-- browser? I have tried stock browser, dolphin HD, Opera, and nothing lets me use the facebook chat, (you know the little popup window on the bottom of the browser screen)
This using the user agent set to desktop.
Everytime I manage to get focus into the chat window, pressing enter doesn't send the message.. nothing works.
hi everyone. my apologies for asking a question I'm sure has been asked many times before. I want to run my browser or YouTube app whilst doing other things. as an example, I would like to play a song from Firefox on YouTube whilst sketching on Sketchbook pro. all the info I've read around this problem doesn't really solve the problem. I tried downloading the maxathon browser which works as long as I am still in said browser. is there any way of using my tablet in a similar way to a PC or Mac or is this the price we have to pay? thanks in advance

Download PVStar+ from play store, it works great for background listening
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Hello, community.
I installed the app myTube on my PC, but opening Youtube URLs in Chrome will of course take me to the Youtube webpage, not the app. So, as the title says, is there any way to make this possible?
No, it's not possible however the best thing you can do at the moment is install my app and use edge: https://forum.xda-developers.com/wi...s/youtube-app-launcher-youtube-links-t3662815
Any youtube link you click outside of youtube will direct you to myTube.
I suppose there is not an alternative for Chrome isn't it?
As far as I know. There isn't an alternative for chrome. So no.
Thank you so much. Will try your app
