Hi all, well last night i decided to update to 1.66. (previously on 1.48 wwe)
So firstly created a backup via spb backup and then installed the update (via goldcard method)
I then restored my settings via spb backup. All seems to be fine apart from my htc messaging. The front screen is fine but when i select "all messages" (bottom left of screen) the next screen has absolute massive font and is overlapping and basically unreadable. Its also the same when i enter a message in conversation mode.
I have checked my standard text size in settings but its set to small and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to resolve this problem.
All other menus etc are fine. Its just the htc messaging. I dont know if the problem has arised from my spb backup or the actual rom update.
Hi, I got the same problem tonight when I installed 1.66, I canĀ“t figure out how to make it right again. Have you had any luck?
/Hans
I have the same problem on 1.43 WWE it just happened, hadnt changed any s/w, anyone got an idea how to fix it
i had the same problem the solution i used is only to backup e-mail and contacts and not the sms messages. it simply ****s up everything
same problem here.
after going from dutty v1.5 to 1.8 and restoring from spb backup, the size and font are totally different than before and there is no way to make it smaller.
Threaded Messaging not in order
Hey guys, i just purchased my HD2, and i also have problems with the threaded messaging, it is on 1.66 by stock and in the threaded messaging displayed in sense, all the messages sent by 'me' is displayed at the top regardless whether the message is a reply or sent before. And all the messages of the receipient's is listed below, this is really irritating, have you ever encountered this? Any ways to go about solving it? 1st day of purchase and i get it, not to mention the shaky screen when i hold on to select text or crop images. Pissed!
Would appreciate your help guys, thanks!
i have the same problem too. is there any way to fix the front size being so big??

Bit of an odd one here...
I recently flashed my T-Mobile Touch Plus with Mary 6.1 and radio 1.21.21.23S and it all worked ok, except battery life was a bit short. Have just flashed with radio 1.58.21.23 and SMS/MMS has gone, it does not appear in messaging (my google mail also disappeared). I tried sending a message to the device and the back light comes one but nothing appears on the screen (notifications etc...)
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can i just add SMS/MMS back into the Messaging app? (if so, how?)
or do i need to do something more serious?
Any help appreciated.
Sorted, all came back after a reinstall.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so move the topic if necessary.
A few weeks back I bought an X1(Branded Dutch T-Mobile Version) and I've been having problems with the receiving of SMS'. My Today screen indicates there are new messages, eg. SMS \ MMS: 1 unread. But when I check my messages there's nothing there. I tried to see if it may be a false positive, by having a friend send me a text message, but the number did increase, and the message box was still empty. I tried reseting the rom, which obviously killed the messages, but new messages are still not getting through.
Anybody else experiencing the same problem? Anybody know what is going on? How can I recover the (invisible) messags?
Thanks a bunch
that's weird. uh, really weird. it's either YOU have a bad rom/phone software so better have it checked OR your not looking in your SMS/MMS inbox but your outlook inbox instead.

i had the same prob, someone sent me a text and the phone froze, when i turned it on had that message. the only way i found to get rid of it was to delete the message coversation with the person.
i had the same problem, only a hard reset solves the problem. after the hardreset everythink worked fine. some other people at the german xperia board got the same problem.
I tried to hard-reset to no avail. Deleting previous conversations doesn't help. Even SMS' from unknown contacts stay hidden. When I try to export my messages using PIM Backup 2.8 It shows that I have 2 'Text Messages' folders in the export root. One with the hidden(unread) messages. And one with the visible ones. When I exported the messages and reimported them, they stayed hidden. When I wrote a program to parse the PIM Backup exported file. I could see that the hidden messages get properly exported.
Any ideas?
Hearing that the German based roms have troubles too, could it be a reg setting that is wrong, something with localization? I really hate that I have a Dutch rom.
i had this problem i simply hard reset it and it was gone...if this didnt work then try reflashing the orignal rom
I just ran into the same issue.
Funny is that I did hard reset on not flashed orginall Dutch T-mobile X1 which was working good. Well now it is not :/
Tip for others looking for a quick workaround: use uiggmo light panell to read them. The only way I found so far.
I am flashing mine today. (Before I will hand it over due to case issue).
I have just flashed to Dutty's 3.9 ROM and restored all my contacts initially with sprite backup, it did not seem to identify my new sms's with the caller ID saved in the phone untill i go furthur into TF3D which takes a long time to load, anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I tried searrching but cant seem to come up with anything!
i have subsequently deleted the contacts and restored them from the myphone service, still no luck....
edit: update from myphone seems to have cured the problem for new messages
however my messages tab is very slow to load, when wanting to reply to a message, also anyone know how to get it to go to the original windows reply window rather than the one from TF3D?

I used to face a similar problem like yours, but I've used activesync instead, and all incoming text messages/calls aren't recognized. At the time I solved the problem simply by flashing the phone with another rom (I've tried several roms and I think my phone is quite picky, there are quite a lot of roms in which it can't identify incoming texts and calls).
I am also using the original windows window for texts and here's what i did:
* hide the manila sms tab
* replace the right softkey button on the home tab to direct it to the windows default sms window. This can be done through a registry editor:
1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila in registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKPath, add it.
3. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKPath to read: \windows\tmail.exe
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKText, add it.
5. Edit the LandscapeMenuRSKText value to read: SMS
6. If you don't have a string called LandscapeMenuRSKArguments, add it.
7. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKArguments to read: -service "SMS"
That's it.

What ROM did you make the backup in Sprite from? Also, did you only backup your contacts with it? If not, did you do a level 1 merge when you restored it?
Hi there,
Does anyone know for sure if the 1.66 ROM upgrade fixes the SMS issue with them getting stuck in the outbox? I'm downloading it as we speak but I don't want to have to completely reset my device without needing to.
I have all the previous hotfixes released in EU/UK installed.
not sure... supposedly it does... im running it and havent had the problem.
i delete alot of my texts all the time though so im not sure if i just havent noticed it yet.
it should and it is (for me) fix both the stuck in the outbox & lag problem on the sms app.
Sounds like good feedback! Making an app and tweak list so I can get up and running again quickly now... I remember the fun I had doing this on my Diamond...surely this SMS issue could have been done as a hotfix
There is new SMS hotfix from January 24th, which says is for ROMs older then 1.66, so it is supposed to be the same version of SMS software as is on 1.66 ROM.
i had an issue with 1.66.. UK unbranded device - After using PIM and then MyPhone to restore messages and such, any SMS i tried to send went as an MMS?
I couldn't find anything else like this for anyone else, so I went back to 1.48 and I've got no problems with my SMS'... one of the contacts said 550 after the name on 1.66 so I'm guessing this was a count of how many messages were in that thread.
Haven't experienced any stuck sms on the latest 1.66 ROM, but I noticed that the ringing volume is much lower than it used to be. Not sure maybe because I had like 40% battery left?
1.66 ROM solves the SMS issue for me.
Also fixed for me as well as other things such as windows live messenger connection problems, receiving emails problem, weather not updating etc. Best rom to date
I had the stuck sms syndrome on 1.43 and 1.48............no such problem on 1.66
stable...
Id say its running stable for now. Only thing i noticed is the "limited to 10 recipients" on th recipient input field for SMS. SMS thread loads faster and there is no lag on replying to SMS thru sense ui. Like i am experimenting with a long thread of 119 SMS on one conversation.
Once clicked on the SMS, it it loads the SMS conversation, and i can start to write on the input box immediately. Loading all the older msgs takes a few second which is OK with me as i dont go on scrolling to see the older msgs just as i open them.
anyone else got the imitd to 10 recipients coming on ur recipient input fields???
In my HTC threaded messaging, the display is not in order such that all SMS sent by me is displayed at the top while messages of my recipient's are displayed below, regardless of the order they are sent, that isn't threaded messaging isn't it. Have any of you faced this problem? And how can i go about solving it? I just purchased my LEO today and it's running on 1.66 by default.
Another problem which have already been mentioned by other threads i faced is the shaking screen problem when trying to select text in htc messages or cropping of images, this is especially annoying as it prevents me from copying and selecting text accurately.
I'd appreciate all the help i can get since i am relatively new to the community. Thanks guys!
Search timestamp fix...has worked for me so far.

Thanks
Hey! Thanks so much for you response. Will install the cab and see how it goes!
Thanks thanks!!
Failing that, assuming all your messages are from a backed up PIM?
1)Backup messages.
2)Disable threaded SMS
3)Delete all messages
4)Close / kill the messaging app
5)Restore messages
6)Enable threaded SMS and wait (maybe a long time depending on how many messages) while it re-threads them for you.
nope, my messages were all 'new' messages meaning they were sent and received on while using the phone after unboxing. i didn't store any backup messages on it. But it's working alright so far, but the screen is pretty annoying as i'm making plenty of typo errors, either i type "too fast" (which is slow in my opinion) and then it somehow register other key presses or not even registering any. I've already installed the cab V3.3 for reduced sensitivity and it doesn't seem to be working?
messaging problem still need help
hey guys, the whole display and layout of my threaded messaging is still screwed. it makes things really inconvenient and i have to do alot of scrolling when i have a considerably large amount of history of texts. i need help and the timestamp cab didn't work. is there a registry fix for this? the reason why my messages are sometimes positioned below my recipient i suspect is the difference in time. i believe it is due to either mine is faster or slower and that determines the position of the messages. isn't it supposed to be all according to my phone's time? i am puzzled and dismayed that a core function of the phone is screwed up.
pls help me with this guys. thanks so much.
