I've been getting an error when clicking menu on the home page only, an error has occurred with manila.exe. After doing a hard reset and reinstalling all my tweaks I've found the problem and it's 20 quick links that's causing it. Any ideas on how to sort it out?
Anyone else not had this problem then or can you recommend another one to try? The one I tried I downloaded from this site.
When i tried to install the 20quicklinks from the sticky thread.. i just got a small black box on my clock. nothing else on the screen.. can anyone sort out these problems? i'm using Tom's latest Rom.

Hi,
I have a cingular 8525 with the default cingular ROM ( will change it later want to wait a litle while)
I am trying to install a Cab and i get this notification:
the installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions
I know this is a simple registry hack and i seen a couple but I have not seen anything specific to hermes.
Please give me a link to directions

I installed the Remove Security Cab and it installed with no problem, but when i try to install: CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.CAB
I still get the same notification.

Did more searching still cant solve it
I read some more posts and found that making sure processes are not running might solve the problem.
I went to memory and stoped all programs and I sitll can't install the: CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.CAB
Are there like system processes which are not showing up in memory - running programs ? Maybe I need to get into those and stop them?
Any other sugestions?
Please point me into the right direction.

Purely on the point of running processes - these will not show up in programmes in memory (except in very broad terms). An application such as sktools will show running processes.
(I am not saying this will solve your problem though)

As a general rule, if I have an "unstoppable" process, I power cycle the phone and then execute the cab without opening ANYTHING else (like the comm manager in this case). Give it a shot.

Finaly got what I wanted
I never got the stupid cab to install, but I found a different cab which let you assign vibrate to anything ( http://www.8525software.com/)utilities so when i hold PTT button it switches to Vibrate

I've done some searching but I did not find a solution for my problem.
I'm really exited about the Yota Contacts and dialer. I tried to install it (wvga version with dialer), after installing sdkcerts, did a soft reset but nothing worked.
My x1 slowed down, The panelmenu wouldn't open anymore and if I tried to use the dialer the wait cursor showed up, going on forever.
After uninstalling everything still worked.
Some questions:
How can i fix this problem tot get Yota and the dialer to work?
- Am i using the right version? There are numerous versions out there, maybe i installed the wrong one? (wvga with dialer, i think version 1.1)

I have a very strange symptom on my device. When I go to the start menu and try to scroll in the window it didn't refresh the screen, the icons are overlapping each other. This happening if I am go to a subcategory in the start menu as well. See attached screen shots. Right now it seems every other apps are working fine.
Issue caused by WMedia Support by Helmi's. I uninstalled but it did not helped at all
Any idea, how can I resolve this issue?
What I have done till now:
I have checked the install cab file - it seems all dlls were removed from the device (2 or 3 remained but the date of the files are the same when I coocked the ROM)
I have checked all files were created/modified on the day when install the codec, but I did not found anything.
I have tried install some start menu converter such like start menu grid, but they did not helped at all to solving this issue

I think you will need to Hard Reset your device as you mentioned that some critical system files may be missing. I don't think anything else can be done.
Change the tsk theme to classic blue then soft reset, then change it back.

Thanks for the hint, but unfortunately it did not help, any other idea apart from hard reset?
If no one else has reported the same bug in the chef's thread then flash a stock rom, then flash the Dutty rom again. Then hard reset twice. Then find an update to that program you installed that caused it in the first place.
I don't think it is related to the rom is much more the app I installed. If there won't be any other idea i will do a hard reset and check (might be update rom as well)
I also try to check registry changes what I found in the cab, but nothing special, at least for me

I have problem installing some cab files, when I try to run them it keeps going to the Today screen where you select your theme. Can anyone help me please or has anyone had the same issue.

I just experienced a similiar problem.. I press the .cab file and nothing happens, when I spam press the file I see "Start" name come up in the taskbar for a half second or something.
Hard reset
Sorry, the only way I was able to get out of this was a hard rest.
All of a sudden I can't update the stock information. I get this message "CONNECTION ERROR. There was a connection error while attempting to download stock data. Retry? Yes/No". It doesn't matter how the phone is configured or whether I initiate the update or the application does so automatically. I googled the message and found that some folks had the same trouble with the Weather application. The Solution was a registry tweak.
I haven't tried a hard reset yet. Since I don't know what the problem is or what caused it, I am reluctant. Also I hate to tweak the registry without specific information about what to change and how.
Can anybody help me with this?

I forgot to mention that I upgraded my Rom from 1.07 to 1.36. Yesterday. I'm not so sure that was smart.
