Shake.exe - HD2 General

A few times now after a reboot I get a popup saying that shake.exe couldn't load. Now I don't recognize this in itself but wondered if it was part of one of the numerous tweaks I've installed. Anyone recognize it? A quick google worryingly mentions a windows virus of the same name that emails all your outlook contacts?!!

Do you have the app that wakes your phone when you shake it?
Also, I wouldn't worry about windows viruses. WindowsCE is very different to PC based versions of Windows.

Don't remember installing anything like that so wondered if it was part of bsbtweaks or 'One cab to rule them all'? Phone seems to be working fine though and like you say, its unlikely to be anything sinister, so I won't worry about it. Thanks for the help!

Wirelessly Sync folders on PC AND WiMO?

Hi,
So here's what I want to do:
I have a folder on my pc with files in it. I want that to sync that with a Cloud storage type system online. Then I want a folder on my Touch Pro 2 to sync with that online folder. Now I know what your thinking and before you flame me with stuff like dropbox, sugarsync, mesh, myphone etc... they can't do that. They sync from pc to online just fine, but then on the tp2 I have to navigate to the web to retrieve files, or with sugarsync there is an app to install and I can load the app and download the files to a folder that way. I don't want to do that. I want a folder to always stay sync'd. I've search all over and can't find that kind of functionality. This would be real handy in a scenario where i need to constantly sync 5 or more phones together with multiple pc's. I don't want to tell the user, ok go to www.getdropbox.com or load this or load that...
I hope I am just missing something and it does exsist.
Live Mesh does exactly what you are talking about. Just leave it running if you need it constantly updated rather than just when you run it. That is the exact purpose of Live Mesh...

Unless i missed something, then it only works that way if your able to install mesh and sign in on your phone. I didnt think they were accepting anymore ppl for testing on mobile devices. I installed it and checked just to see. Without this, your forced to grab files from the web.
I can't get the live mesh program to work on my Sprint Touch Pro 2. It lets me enter my login info and then crashes while logging in. Is there something I'm missing?

No clue about why it would crash. It doesn't matter anyway, you can't use it. It's closed to new people.
Anyone have any thoughts about the actual topic of this thread? There has to be a way... No one needs to do this?!

It's not closed. You just need to activate your mesh account for windows mobile which involves clicking on a specific link. I did it and I got the client installed and working. Works great! But wouldn't want to deviate from the actual topic of this thread...

How would that be deviating? If there is a way to get into Mesh and it's not closed, that would potentially directly solve the original post.

I will report if this works. Thanks!
it definitely worked for me. you'll see that windows mobile becomes an option in your mesh after visiting this link. but getting the program to validate on your device (touch pro 2) is hit or miss. i just had to try it many times and finally it worked. then there is also an issue of the program crashing upon startup that i mentioned above. i've narrowed that down to being related to the memory card. the program will start if i remove the memory card prior to executing it. i can then put the memory card back in while the program is in the login screen and it works. still trying to find a better solution. let me know if you have any luck.

Been playing with it all night. So far it's working flawlessly. No crashes at all. I have a 8gb storage card. It's sync'd to and from 1 other verizon phones, and 4 pc's... It's cool, you take a pic with your phone and voila it's on my wife's phone too, as well as the mobile picture directory at home. Would love to help you get it working too. Have you checked out this forum?

You can also use Remote Touch. It doesn't sync, but it does allow you to transfer files remotely, back and forth from your desktop and your phone. And of course, you get the added benefit of controlling your desktop remotely with your phone.
When I'm in a hurry to leave the office I'll queue a bunch of files in RemoteTouch and have my phone download them while I'm on the road.

Can you tell me the exact phone you have? Is it the Verizon touch pro 2? Maybe it's my brand of memory card? It's definitely good when it's working.
Also, did you have any trouble validating the phone on the mesh? Took me several attempts and it seems other people had the same issue. I have been to the site you linked a little bit but maybe more research is in order.

can you tell me if the live mesh client is running robustly on your touch pro2? i had tons of crashes the last time i messed with this. haven't tried it since. most of the problems i had are documented in this thread.
For the op, there is a Schaps Network plugin, http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=67564. It may do what you want, too. Not sure. Just making a suggestion.

help I have over 21 Trojand etc

Awarning just appeared on my hd2 saying my device has viruses. Was directed to Microsoft automatically and a message appeared that attempts to remove it. Is this normal ?.
Almost every folder had a Trojan etc written in red. Don't know if they were removed. Any quick checks possible. Hard reset?.
Just downloaded airscanner trial version. it gave the all clear. The microsoft site was asking me to download some exe files to replace the infected files. How do I know airscanner even works ?.
are you on stock rom or are you a custom rom flasher? either way, i suggest a task 29 and fresh rom flash, just to be on the safe side.
If not, just back up stuff, hard reset, and format your SD card too to be on the safe side
Unless someone else can clarify, that sounds quite scary, i have yet to hear of anything like that

Something popped up on your HD2 saying you have trojans? I've never heard of that... what do you have installed? I don't think there is any type of antivirus scanner on the HD2, so I don't know why anything would pop up on your HD2. Are you sure it's sending you to a microsoft site? This sounds like one of those fake virus spyware things that get you to install the virus when you go to the site it takes you to to get rid of the virus.... but I've only seen those on PCs... never on WinMo.
I have never actually read about cell phone viruses. I have vaguely heard via word of mouth that they are possible, though.
check the url of the microsoft website..it will not be the original one I suppose. There is hardly any virus written for Windows mobile..so either you are one of the lucky guys who come in taste of some new spyware which nobody heard of before or..or..I dont know but its very scary indeed.
If you do find anything I would very much like to get a sample. Please PM me if you can verify you have an infected HD2.
[Edit]
By the way, how did the message appear, through Opera/IE or a standard Windows Mobile messagebox?
lmfao!
I bet he got it in the web browser, one of those stupid banners trying to scare people and directing them to dodgy sites.
21 trojans? in every folder? LOL

that was my first thought too
"Internet Security 2010" I believe is the current rendition...
Hi and sorry for the late reply. I deleted all cookies, history etc in a panic straight away so I cannot verify if was a genuine microsoft site. I was at the time browsing for dvd rippers, logged of but my WiFi was still connected. I had seen that I had gained a mysterious extra 50mb on my device. So I started deleting stuff I don't remember having. Suddenly the warning appeared saying somebody can access my details and all these folders appeared with loads of Trojans etc. Then it said microsoft giving me a exe file to download and to click it. In s panic I reset my ppc. The last thing I had downloaded was the day before which was pocketdivx . Phone seems ok do maybe nothing happened. Thanks for the replies.
The only WinMo virus I know of is a dialer which calls certain numbers at a certain moment of the day. Other than that, i SERIOUSLY doubt the actual existence of any other forms of viruses.
IMO, it`s just a stupid app yelling things such as "OMFG 21 VIRUSES BUY THE FULL VERSION SO WE CAN GET U RID OF THEM!!!!11!!1", and after you buy it, every virus magically gets eradicated, leaving the phone "clean". God, I hate this things...
EDIT: Quick thought... 21 viruses/folder means that there are 21 files, all of them having AT LEAST 1kb (the size of an empty text file). Seriously now, can you see any suspicious files in any folder? Exactly. You can't.

Need a working myspace cab ppl

I need a working myspace cab since they pull the myspace app from the marketplace
I could use one too..the one I downloaded from the marketplace did not work at all
I guess me and you in the same boat
Myspace app issues
I tried uninstalling the myspace application that I got from the market place then I reinstalled and still wasn't able to enter my profile. For now I would recommend just using the web browser and logging in to your myspace that way. Also if you plug in your htc hd2 to your computer with the usb cord to any windows pc it should allow you to download any updates which are intended to improve the overall experience and possibly could help with this particular issue.

Dispite the misleading messages that sometimes appear, updates to WM don't come in the form of "patches" like your desktop PC...they come as a whole new ROM from the carrier or manufacturer, with any changes and updates baked in. They have to be downloaded to your PC, and manually applied from there.

Installing programs on Windows 8?

I didn't find anything on this particular topic, but i'm a little confused... So, installing programs on a PC running W8... Why is the program only accessible to the one user who installs it?
Or at least, that's what i'm seeing? I installed Google Chrome on the admin account, but I can't for the life of me get the other users to use the program, let alone see it on their accounts. I don't understand, maybe i'm doing something wrong, because I had to install it on each and every account for Chrome to be able to use Chrome.
Edit, I installed MS Office 2010, and it seems to have made itself available across all the users. How come Chrome wasn't so forthcoming??
The option to install for all users is normally one of the first things that an installer will ask you. Nothing to do with Windows 8. Try reinstalling the program, reading what it asks you instead of blindly tapping next.
If it doesn't ask you, message back and ill download and run the installer to confirm.

this is Chrome, always like that. google sucks @ programming.
Oh, so its just Chrome that does that? Okay, makes sense.
Because the only time the other users would acknowledge another browser on the system... was when I already installed Chrome -___- A little pop up notification on the side would say something to the effect of, "You can reach the web in more than one way." Or something, and when I clicked it, it would show all the previous installations of Chrome but their location would be in, like, C:/Users/USERNAME/AppDataLocal or something like that.
So that's why I was like, "Whaaaaat? Programs install locally now or something??"

W8 Metro Apps doesn't open

I have recently upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 and have had lots of problems since that. Firstly I can't download/install lang packs. My laptop is from germany and I don't know how but when I upgraded to W8 it automatically changed to German and it doesn't give me an option to download/install any other language. [Solved]
Secondly, I can't open any apps. When I click on one, it loads a screen saying "App Preview" and then comes back to the Start metro interface. How do I at least fix that?

A friend of mine had exactly the same problem.
Finally, it ended up with a clean install of Windows 8.
It may sound crazy, but Metro apps need hardware acceleration. Install the latest Windows7 driver for you video card.
Most of the integrated drivers have hardware acceleration. I get this problem every so often, just keep opening it till it stays open.

I have solved the language pack thing at least.

thanks for that insightful post mate, moving along....
ive had issues with apps not opening, but as already mentioned trying a couple more times usually works. Im not convinced about sticking with the upgrade, if you have the space id suggest a fresh install WITHOUT deleting the partitions, the install wizard will copy all your old windows folders to a new folder called Windows.old.
You can then work through it coping all your files to the new OS and delete it when your happy.
everything you need will likely be in windows.old\users\username\
another good place to hunt about is windows.old\programData\
before you try all that, this is going to sound stupid but have you tried turning off your computer?,
yesterday Windows had updated some files in the background (WMC) my Mail App was refusing to sync with no errors at all, when I shut down the computer it came up that it was installing updates so I turned off the PC at the wall for a few min and when it rebooted it worked perfectly...
it's a common problem if you upgrade to win8.
Solutions:
1.) Do a clean install (no upgrade from win7 or other win8 beta)
2.) Fix it.
Save the below to a .reg file, execute it and restart your machine.
Code:

I have tried the regedit fix but that didn't work either.
I think it's a problem with the videocard driver, as when I upgraded, I couldn't open CCC anymore.
I'm trying to uninstall the driver to reinstall but I am facing some problems right now, the driver won't remove completely it appears and it won't let me update to the recent one.
Hey guys,
I have tried multiple clean installs of win8 (RP) because repeatedly the metro apps stopped opening after working fine initially. I was able to nail the problem down to kasperky internet security. I tried webroot internet security and things are working great.
Try it and trust me, it will work.
I don't think that is my issue here as I don't use any anti virus software other than MS Security Essentials.
Same issue here... Cut the rope and Weather will not work. Rest of apps do work. They all worked on Consumer preview... i did the upgrade to RC from there. I'm going to fresh install it next, but i was hoping i could work it out 1st.
It seems I managed to get the graphics card driver to work, CCC is now opening but still I can't get the apps to load. What now?
It's a common problem. I have trouble opening my apps too on multiple tries. It's not your display driver. Just keep opening the same app and eventually it will open.

download latest windows 8 developer preview it will work
No, it won't. The fix is the change to the Registry.
Microsoft themselves have no clue about the issue - they'll tell you it's a graphics driver problem, but that's wrong.
If the first Registry fix doesn't work, try this one in addition to the first:
(it might break your installation!)
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole]

Now you can add gmail and much else that did not work.
None of the suggestions above seemed to work
I think I'll give up.
