office mobile copy/paste + multi-select in file explorer - Dash 3G, Snap General

Hi all.
I have a Snap with windows mobile 6.5 and I can't seem to do two things which are important to me :
1. how do you copy selected text in Word Mobile ?
2. how do you select multiple files in file explorer ?
I just can't seem to do this...

Office Mobile 6.1 in WM 6.5 ?
Ok, so I just realized that you can't copy/paste from WordMobile 6.1 on non-touch devices :
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-1/move-copy-text-document-nontouch.aspx
but you can do it on WordMobile 6.5 :
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Move-copy-text-nontouch.aspx
but what I really don't get here is that I upgraded Windows Mobile to 6.5 (official HTC ROM) and that office mobile delivered with it is version 6.1 ??? Can anyone confirm this ? This is really weird...

Ctrl key
My Dash 3G came installed with Windows Mobile 6.5 and Word Mobile 6.1. I don't think you can get Word Mobile 6.5 on the device unless it's some kind of custom job.
You can cut & paste in Word Mobile 6.1. I do it all the time using Ctrl+X (cut), Ctrl+C (copy), and Ctrl+V (paste). Ctrl+Z (undo) also works. I am using a bluetooth keyboard that has a Ctrl key, though, which works great for me because I don't really do any editing without using it.
You can select text by holding the shift key then moving the trackball across the text that you want in combinations of horizontal and vertical. Once highlighted, text can be deleted in one key stroke. It works even better with my remote keyboard, shift+arrow keys, plus I then have the option to cut/copy & paste the selection.
So the ability to copy to and from the clipboard is there but they left out the menu options of cut, copy, paste, and select. The keyboard shortcuts work if you have the hardware.
Is there a way to reprogram the keymap on the built-in Dash 3G / Snap keyboard? Some kind of registry edit or something? I'd give up the camera or messaging key in exchange for a Ctrl key. I'm not smart enough to figure out how but I'm sure somebody on xda could figure that out. Once you have a Ctrl key, you could do a lot more with the software.
If a key remap is impossible, what about editing the menu for Word Mobile 6.1? The functions are in the software, they just didn't add them to the menu. Maybe that's the only real difference between Word Mobile 6.1 and 6.5.

PocketPutty and TAB key

I'm a new HD2 user and is my first windows mobile based smartphone.
The smartphone will be used to administer several unix servers (using ssh and pocketputty) but i'm not able to find any keyboard with TAB Key (or ESC key), I've only been able to find the CTRL key in SPB Keyboard.
Please, any hint is more than welcome
Regards,
You could get a bluetooth keyboard - ctrl and tab work fine for me. They should be pretty cheap on eBay.
Thanks for the suggestion, but i'll use the HD2 for quick access or bug fixing while i'm out of the office and it would be great if i don't have to carry an additional keyboard.
Please, anyone knows any software keyboard with these keys?
2cugel: Try to use Token2Shell instead PocketPutty. It has onscreen keybar for all special keys like Tab, Esc, PgUp/Down, Ctr, Alt and all Fx keys.
Also it has build-in SSH file browser and many other great functions.
Hope it help.
Solved
Finally solved with swype, space long press send the tab signal.

Uhm, first... that's one nasty Avatar! Looks like Homer Simpson!
For your issue, you can use a different SIP that has copy\paste or usually if you hold down on the item a sub menu will appear to "make selection" and you can copy from there.
I got to go throw up now.....

Look for fingerboard in the forums.
I believe it has copy\paste and its free.
I use touchpal but its not freeware.
Did you try to hold down on word to get a sub menu?
Use Resco explorer or Total commander.

He is trying to copy text not files.
I'm not sure, but I think last version of Resco explorer can copy-paste texts.

Hi, Bruce. as i said, i can copy the text to clipboard from word (by holding for submenu), but cannot paste into the text input box in wireless settings. clicking + holding here does not bring any submenu to paste. will have a look for fingerboard.

Find Fingerkeyboard here. You may want to read the last few posts as they were related to TD2 issues.
Another thing you can do is find something like Pocket Controller that gives you this function from your PC screen.
It is a phone emulator on your PC that allows you to manipulate the phone with your mouse. It has clipboard functionality for all screens and menus.
Bruce has pretty much mentioned the only way i can think of. (besides using a pen...u know, those things u write on paper with...to ..like...note down all the characters... hehe)
fingerboard will do the trick.
Thanks, guys
thx for the help. now got fingerboard. will give it a go. re - pen, tried inputting wireless key manually with stock keyboard and stylus, but i use buffalo router with AOSS key, 63 random hex keys. just one slip and it's "here we go again!!!" just tryin to make life easy.

I don't think any software-keyboard WM device has had CTRL keys on-screen, historically because of the lack of multi-touch on resistive screens I imagine. You'll just have to tap-and-hold to cut and paste, I'm afraid.

Thanks for your reply, but tap-and-hold doesn't work i.e. on calendar. How do you copy or duplicate events?
You are correct- most times you need to paste (such as entering long registration codes etc) the entry boxs don't have a paste option, though its worth tapping/holding just in case a context menu pops up.
The original WinMo keyboard did have a 'Ctrl' key but most of the current ones don't. One that does, and happily one that works in the HD Mini's screen resolution is SPB Keyboard. This has a 'Ctrl' key on the main keyboard.

How to config keyboard on TP2 to work with portuguese

Hi,
I'd like to get my TP2 T-mobile to work with portuguese (ç, ´, `, etc).
Thanks for the help
Install these two registry keys and then you've got xt9 portuguese fully functioning.
I'd like to know how to install the .reg, because it says that it has no "application associated".
Thanks
You can import them using a registry explorer like SK Tools or Mem Maid or any other...
Thanks for the help.
I use Total Commander, but I haven't figured out to work.
I copyed to clipboard and past in the plugin/registry directory, but it didn't work
Total Commander doesn't support importing registry files.
You can use SK Tools here:
http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_downloads.html#tools
In the registry explorer select "Import" then select the files you want!
I did what you said but it didn't work.
How can I type ç, á, é, à, í, ó ?
I had a sony X1 and it was nice to type but the TP2 it's hard.
I was thinking, the TX9 is the digital keyboard? Because it already had those characters, I want the slide keaboard to work with those characters.
Thanks a lot for the patience.

Problem solved!
I didn't activate the XT9, now it's working beautifully
Thanks to HRQ.SLV !!
If you want to use accented characters with the "FN" key in the hardware keyboard, you'll need to copy the attached file (eT9.Rhodium.ptp.kmap.txt) to the windows folder and apply the attached reg key. If you want to create you own keyboard layout check here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Rhodium/ChangingKeyboardLayout).
If you cannot select the portuguese language in the XT9 (hidden in foreighn devices by default) you can use the cab file "input lang diamond2 kb.cab" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3456978)
If you want to assign the <TAB> character to an hardware key (I've assigned it to the "mail" key) you can use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240). I use the <TAB> key when SSH to linux boxes to autocomplete in the command line.
I also use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to toggle wifi on/off using a long press in the VolUp key.
