Rotation, but not for all apps - how to do it? - HD2 General

Hi everyone.
I've been reading the forum and I know about apps like Gyrator, tried it but it doesn't do what I need (or I don't know hot to set it up properly).
I don't want to have rotation on for all apps all the time (including the OS) and then make exceptions, I just want to enable it for a few more apps in addition to the default ones (like Word, Excel, Adobe Reader, IGo).
This could also probably be done manually by doing registry hacks, but I'm not sure how...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx.

Modify TF3D Tabs?

Guys,
I know there are apps for the Diamond/Pro which allow editting of the TF3D tabs, but do we have one for the HD yet? If so what is it and where might I download it?
Cheers.

Hi All,
I've read about the 15 tabs on the HD; but what I want to know is whether it would it be possible to have different additional tabs. I don't need the calendar or call list or even the Comms tab (useful as it may be).
What would be great is to have 3 or 4 additional "Program" tabs that could be renamed and would allow me to add my applications / settings / tools etc. (i.e something approaching the menu panel/s in sbp mobile shell).
Is this possible? Has anyone done it?
I'd really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance.

Sashimi vs Other UC

Does sashimi work with the TP 2? I know it did pretty well but wondering if it plays with TP2.
I need to figure out a UC program so I can start flashing ROM updates as they come out. Other than sashimi, anyone reccomend any good/easy to use UC other than Sashimi or is that the one?
I just used Sashimi both with the stock AT&T ROM (to bring over stuff from my Fuze) and then after flashing. Worked fine. One caveat. To get Sashimi to install to the SD Card on 6.5 (6.5.1), you'll need to make a small tweak to one of the mortscript files (which I was able to do and I'm hardly proficient at this stuff) -- see about 5 posts down in this thread: http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=311

awesome...thanks....i'm new to this UC thing, i always just reinstalled my cabs and it finally has driven me crazy! So does Sashimi reinstall you contacts, tasks, calender, programs (cabs)? how about registry tweaks you've made that aren't cabs? does it reinstall favorites in your tabs and such? Thanks!!
I assume the answers are in the videos but does it cover how to get TF3d settings over or do those have to be done manually? Like programs in the programs tabs etc.

sashimi can backup virtually anything. specific reg tweaks, the order of your tabs in manila, your manila stocks tab, virtually everything. imo learning sashimi or UC is by far the best thing you can learn to do with your phone!

awesome, i'll start learning. other than the videos, any other tips or tricks I should be aware of? such as how to get tf3d tab settings over to sashimi or are those in the videos? will start playing with it tomorrow and post with more questions...thanks for all your input everyone!
I need the help of all you flashing whores: I want to become one!! however I'm limited to flashing every update due to having to redo my manila settings, order, reg tweaks/edits, etc. I've tried sashimi for my cabs, and that's awesome, but it's beyond me for setting up the reg edits and manila settings.
Soooo.....do you have an reccs for other ways to make my life easier so i can officialy become a flashing whore?? What do you all do to keep up with the energy ROM updates?
I double this request. I'm learning how to use sahsimi also. I'll be digign around to learn how to restore Opera favorites and will report on my findings. ...

How do you turn on Auto Rotate?

I couldn't find it in the settings...
please advise thanks.
There is no auto rotate, except in a few applications, such as Opera, the Photos & Videos tab, the Music tab etc..
You can either install something like BsB Tweaks and then tell it which programs you want to be able to autorotate, or you can install rotation software that allows you to switch when you choose.
BsB Tweaks can be found by searching the Themes & Apps forum, and a toggler app can be found in my signature - PLToggle.
There's various other apps out there, but those 2 offer the different styles of rotation for the device.
Hope this helps
try bsbtweak. you can easily add or remove programs to auto rotate or not...
or you'll have to manually add the program to whitelist in registry...
PL toggle is pretty good.

This reply is meant for both out you although I have never had a HD mini. The way a lot of the Tweeks done using BsB Tweeks is actually done in the registry. Whst apps like BsB and other apps like it do is go into your registry and change certain values and extintion names, somtimes it even creates new registry keys. To revert these changes without a hard reset you will have to restore the regesrty keys it modified or delete the ones it created, but I think all either of you will have to do is restore some keys. To find what registry keys you are looking for and the defualt settings first try the BsB Tweeks thread here at xda, you will probably find the defualt settings there as well. You might find this thread usful *Leo Hints, Tips and Registry Tweaks* it contains slot of the tweeks BsB makes but gives a step by step of the changes. That thread is also in the HD2 section of xda so dziarsky if you are using Windows Mobile 6.5 on your HD mini they should apply to you as well. And one last thing doing manual registry changes is not hard but should be done with care. So pay attention to what you are doing as you do them. If you want more info on what the registry is, how to do changes to the registry, just get all around more femilair with the it and what you are doing go here

After i am uninstall BsB from device problem with saving recorded movies is gone.
But.. all changes made by BsB are still working.
So you have right in case for example "wake up SMS" option as one made registry change.
But regarding video problem its something not based on registry (after uninstal problem gone).
Its issue for somebody who manufacturing this soft. I dont want to start with some registry editing if i dont do that before on any Windows Mobile i had. I am not sure is there anything to fix regarding video problem.
Anyway - thanks for tips.

I can understand you not wanting to mess with the registry it is something you have to be very carful with. If you uninstalled BsB Tweeks I am not sure if it resets all the registry changes it makes back to defualt values is why I was talking about the registry. I do recomend you go search the BsB Tweeks thread, I linked it in my last post. I hope you get things figured out. I also would recomend Touch Tools for HTC 2.0 Suite I like it more than BsB plus it can do somethings BsB can not.

Tips for speeding up mobile shell 3.5 on the Touch Pro 2?

I have searched the forum, but haven't found an awnser.
I haven't been using mobile shell 3.5 much because of the lag when switching screens. I've read many people with the TP2 use it, so I guess the user experience seems to differ.
Can someone give me tips on how to speed up mobile shell 3.5?
The 3d carousel works perfectly, while that should be more demanding on my phone. I have installed and tried several ROMS. I'm now running a very light one.
Any tips, tweaks or graphics drivers?
Thanks in advance.

I was actually able to run SBP MS on my old wizard (197Mhz proc!) and the carousel was completely lag-free even on that hardware, but I did have a slight lag on screen changes though.
I have only seen one set of "upgraded" video drivers for the TP2, in the thread below. Note- despite the title, they're actually OpenGL drivers, not D3D. I don't know if they'll improve MS 3.5 for you, but it's worth taking a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546522&highlight=at0mang+driver
Tried it. Thanks. Sadly no improvements on WM shell.

Are you referring to when you use your finger to move left / right / up down? Or do you mean when selecting the Contact button? Or is is slow everywhere?
One thing you should do is change the file system settings to increase performance. Also change the glyph settings & Etc. I think BsB Tweaks will change these.

It's mainly using your finger to scroll. But also a bit the icon loads. I'll try BsB tweaks. Not sure what settings you mean, but I try something.
If anyone can make this more clear, it's apreciated.
Only settings I found was ther glyph setting. That one I did. It actually became a little faster. So if the other tweaks work just as good, I'd like to know where to find them.

Actually, they are in the Advanced Configuration tool, under "Performances". Change the system cache to the advised settings.

The Advanced Config Tool works wonders speeding up many things. Fixed some network lag problems I was having since I had to flash back to the stock at&t rom while traveling. Only thing that has caused any problem for me was a camera setting I didn't need (naturally when I really needed the camera) the one that encodes rotated images as portrait. Other than that it has really helped out. (I now store the .net compact framework cab on my sd card so I don't need a computer to deal with it on the train...) Still looking for better video playback with standard encoded .avi's though (OpenGL drivers worked but I didn't notice an improvement...)
