Hi Guys
I have a problem with my TyTN at the moment.
My device is not charging.
Yesterday i put it in my Docking Station and wait a little time.
But Now the Tynt isnt charged.
I think ist a Problem with my TyTN Hardware.
I have all Power Supplys used they i have, but it doesent work.
Can you help me?
Its this a problem with the accu or a fuse on the circuit ?
Sorry for my broken english i hope you understand me.
Regards Patrik Laube
Hello,
first of all, try to soft reset the device.
If it fails, hard reset it.
If it doesn't work, go the service center.
Good luck
The above advice is fine. But you did not say if any of the LEDs are lit.
Do you get the red NO CHARGE LED?
Does your phone operate normally except for not charging?

Hello
My Phone is working fine but i cant charge it with the original HTC adapter.
I must load the accu with a special loader.
USB and Charge dont work....
And i have no warranty I cant send it to my operator.
When i plug in the USB Cable it doesent make everthing.
I think it was a to high voltage on the USB or the USB Ground ( - ) had a electrical Power for a litte moment.
Have you an idea?
Thanks for yur help.
Regards Patrik
I had a similar problem, which was sorted by a new rom, but I ascertained it was software problem when I realised it charged when powered off.

hi,
try this: when your device is connected via usb, tab on the battery icon in the taskbar on you device, go to the register "advanced" and check/uncheck "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc"
thats it

I'm having an issue along these lines, also.
My phone has been working fine untill the other night when I tried to charge it via the wall electrical outlet. It will not charge at all, the battery has been drained to nothing and I can't turn it on. The yellowish light doesn't turn on when I plug it in like it used to.
I don't know if this is a battery issue or an issue with the USB connection inside of the phone. On a side note, when it did have power and I tried to connect it to the USB via the PC; it didn't work. The phone was on, but the computer didn't even notice the phone was plugged in. That leads me to believe it would be a connection issue; but I'm not quite sure.
If anyone has anything they can add to this I would appreciate it, thank you.
P.S. Bringing it to a service center is a bit out of the question in the mean time seeing as it was bought on eBay and funds are limited for the time-being.

Hello, I cannot find the "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc" in my device. My Rom is WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20273 cooked by dvha79_ddt.
My HTC TyTN has the sample problem, but i can use the USB to charge normally. It cannot work using my AC adapter Only when the device is open...
About your Battery Issue.
I'll tell you exactly why ur phone isnt charging anymore... If you have been charging it alot on the USB or pretty much any!! charging on the USB u have killed ur battery, never charge your phone on the USB it kinda sucks they should make these phones able to be Sync'd thru USB without a battery cause these batteries should not be powered thru the USB over Time... from syncing to your pc will kill these batteries i have noticed that when u sync this Tytn Ithru USB and the device is at say 70% it charges up to 100% pretty fast i would recommand to you and anyone who reads this dont sync your TYTN or any HTCC phone for to long to the USB Cause it will Trash your batteries Life down the road... Hope this was HELPFUL.
Cheers
Paul

^I'm having the same problem with my herm200. I did the soft reset, hard reset changed ROMs but still the same problem. I don't think it's the usb connector because if it is it wouldn't have been able to charge the phone even if it's turned off. Before I'm able to charge it turned on but it would take a few minutes before the orange led turns on, but when I use the phone or if I receive a text the orange led would turn off it's like the charger disconnects but after a few minutes it would go back again. Now it just wouldn't charge turned on, sometimes it gets worse where it just wouldn't charge on or off.
Now I'm already planning to buy an external battery charger.

Are you using an official 1000mA charger? (Not a 500mA one) 500mA ones work, but they are under-powered and can cause strange behaviour, like not charging whilst turned on or whilst on a call. Similar problems can be found with car-chargers that will not charge until the device is soft reset.
Mike
^no it's not the official charger, I have this usb wall charger called Power Juice (phone and mp3 charger).
Input Voltage: AC100-240V
Output Voltage: 5V
Output Current:1000mAh
Do you think it's because I'm not using the original charger?
fixed my charging problems
The boyfriend told me to try a new cable for my charger so he bought me a 5pin usb cable, tried it at home and it worked! I still need to turn off the screen sometimes but that's ok at least I don't have to turn off the phone anymore. Now my battery charges less than 3 hours.
Hold both SoftKeys and Then press the Power button
Or you can also hold both softkeys and then put your stylus into the reset hole.
answer why it does not charge through the usb
Sorry for the very very late response. Under electrical legislation all hand held electrical devices must be insulated and fused. Some of the chargers that you can purchase are sealed without fuse which indicates that the phone has a fuse contained within its circuitry (or there may be 2 fuses one in each device) .
The problem you have encountered is that you have connected your phone to a computer or mains supply to charge. There has been a surge in the electrical supply either on connection or by un-connecting from these supplies (e.g. connect to the computer as it is booting would see a 65w signal through the USB) and this more often than not blows the fuse which sits on the PCB (printed circuit board) just after the usb connection internally to the phone.
you can either have the fuse fixed for 20/25 gbp or you can purchase a new circuit board or you can use an external charger for the battery. As it is only the power input point that is faulty.
hope this helps
Since we are at this non-charging & battery issue, I would like to ask this question on the D838pro. My battery won't charge even after 24 hours of charging. The red LED blinks thru the whole process. The LED did not turn on to orange or green. It is the battery problem because my spare battery works well. I would like to know what is wrong with the battery as I am willing to strip down the battery. Could it be the battery circuit or wiring that had fired?

Never tried stripping down a battery, some things... well, just don't seem worth it. However as a learning exercise it might be interesting. Without lots of testing on a good battery with a multimeter then I have no clue what the readings should be between all the contacts. (Now there's a little job for you) It is as likely the internal structure of the battery is screwed as it is to be a wiring problem.
If you solve it you can certainly report back here
Mike
Hello,
my problem is strange.
When I turn off my Atom Life it can be charged (USB, External Power Supply).
Red indicator light on.
When turned on (in use) it does not charge. The charging symbol in the status line shows the unit is connected to external power, but the red indicator light is off, and power continuously goes down.
I already tried a hard reset, but that did not help.
Does anybody have an idea?
Sorry, I forgot to mention that everything with charging went fine earlier (until some weeks ago)
charging
same thing with my XDA ATom dude
I have ordered a new battery for mine at ebay (did not arrive yet).
Maybe it helps.
Otherwise ...
Ok, the battery came in and it does not change anything.
Still the same issue.
So I am gonna litter it...
bye bye
New info,
there seems to be a bad contact at the USB connector.
If I connect the USB cable and hold the plug in a specific angle, then the charging light (red led) turns on).
Brought the device to a friend of mine. He's good at electronics and tries to figure out and fix the usb connector.
wait and see

any news for your problem ??
i'm having this problem too
i brought used one and seems the battery is almost dead and can't charge when device is ON
Thanks!
I got a used atom life and bought a new main battery for it. Charging via USB cable connected to my notebook is working fine. Using the (wall socket plugin) power supply with the same cable it behaves the same way you described it. It starts charging only when the device is turned On and back Off. In my opinion the power supply is the reason. Maybe it is to week ar has some sort of security switch build in, which is protecting it against to high power consumption.
In my case it was definitely not the charger. I tried several ones and they behaved all the same (the original one wrked for long time).
It is the device itself.
I had it sent to a friend who was able to open it and a have a look at it.
The USB plug itself was a bit loose. But soldering it again did not fix the problem.
There seems to be a micro break of a wire on the mainboard (which is multi layered). So no real chance to repair.
I replaced my device by a HTC Desire which was available in Germany very very cheaply (you don't want to know the price because it wuld be too frustrating).
So goodbye Atom Life.

The LED show only few seconds and it shut down after that
I think it's battery/something about battery's connectors, 'cause if I disconnect the battery and plug in usb connector the red led shows up for 4-5 second, like your case...

Thx for helping and i've bought with a new battery
Replaced the lcd, but before this it was left to totally drain.. now when it's plugged in to the wall it wont charge, doesnt warm up, doesnt pop up on my PC when plugged in.. I have the strangest thought the known issue with charging is happening but because it doesnt have enough power to get to the bootloader i cant force it to power off...
Will connecting a spliced usb cable to the + and - points on the battery and plug it in to the mains work to get some juice into this battery? i know it works for old nokias etc/...
cheers

In most cases it will work. Are you sure your USB port wasn't a part of collateral damage when you were replacing your LCD screen ? If you have a multimeter, just check the connection in the microusb. Probably the charging of the n7 battery may awaken it from its slumber, what else you can try is to use jumpers to connect another battery that you know that is fully charged with almost the same voltage and try to boot up the n7?! Maybe that will help ?

If there is any charge left in the battery then you can try pressing the SNAPVUE button (button to the lower left of the screen. This will allow you to see whether the screen and the Windows Mobile electronics are working.
When you plug in the charger the battery light should come on. If it doesnt then it is likely that your Shift or your charger or your battery is faulty.
Are you familiar with how to power on the Shift? you need to slide the right hand side slider up. Try holding it up for 20 seconds if it is not working. You could try removing the battery in case that is the faulty component.
I hope the wrong charger did not fry your Shift
Nope
Well thanks for the advice. But the charger was a 24v laptop charger. The shift is lifeless. The device itself won't turn on at all. I'm guessing it's fried it unfortunately. All I get is the Bluetooth light flashing once when I plug the charger in.
Yup, did the same thing with a 24v charger. My external battery charger had the same tip as the Shift's A/C (which I didn't know), and in a tangle of wires, I fired it up on 24v.
What is interesting is I can still use Shift on battery, but it won't charge the battery.
My guess is the motherboard, etc are okay, but the 24v surge fried something in the charging part of the machine, which shut down before the damage could spread.
Prolly easy to repair if it's some kind of circuit, but I never could find a repair shop that would take it on.
