how do i reduce the call volume and keep it saved, for exampple
if my volume in call is changed to 2 bars from the bottom, if i hang up and call again, the volume is loud, unless i change from 2 bars down to 1 bar, then it goes down, and then i go back to 2 bars, then the volume goes to what it should be,
even though after i call back the second time initially, the volume sounds like its at 4 bars but the display is always 2 bars,
i think the 1.43 rom saves the bar memory, but the actual volume always stays higher,
anyway to change this or fix??
Mine is the same. No solution yet I'm afraid.

About 1/2 of the time that I pull my jamin out of my pocket when I'm getting a call, I hit a button of some sort which shunts the inbound call to voicemail. Very very annoying.
I have my buttons all on the locked setting except for power, but when the phone rings - all bets are off and every button is live. Bad design.
Thanks in advance!
I too had the same problems ...I just get the photo framed and what happens .. I press the power botton and turn the thing off! Very annoying.
but you do eventually get used to remembering to not pick it up by the sides wher ethe buttons are.

I asked the same thing last week (see link). The suggestion did sort of work, but was not slick enough for practical use. Would be nice for a proper solution (such as the 'menu*' on the Nokia).

Is this one of Microsoft's stupid "features" or is there a way around it...
When I'm placing a call, or talking on the phone, the phone goes dark in about 2-3 seconds, and you have hit the power button to get the screen back... then, when the call ends the screen goes half-light but most menu options/buttons suporatically work until you hit power button off/on...
Is there a way to fix this stupid "feature"??
you sure its not the 30 second timeout for the backlight?
100% certain. It's very annoying... about 5 seconds into a phone call the phone screen turns off, and I have to hit the power button to hit any of the touch-screen keys.
HELP!
Do you have SU2U installed. I had that problem with the screen sleeping right after I answered a call, untill I changed a setting in slide 2 unlock.
Nope - I've never even heard of SU2U... link?
I hate vibration on phones. Period. Hate it. I must be doing something wrong because when I silence my phone, it always seems to vibrate when I get a phone call.
This is how I am setting my HD2 to silent:
Scroll over to setting Tab in manila>Sound & Display>Check Silent.
Sometimes I like to play music (with HD2 in pocket) while I am doing my work but don't want to be interrupted with a vibration from phone call, so I use the hardware button to lower volume to zero (Not pressing the silent button) while keeping system's volume up so I can hear the music.
No matter what, I my HD2 still vibrates when I get a phone call.
Help me get rid of the Vibrations!!
Actually I was just hunting for a solution to this.
I don't understand what the point of having separate options for "silent" and "vibrate" are when silent also vibrates?
I have no issue with vibration for other reasons - I just want silent to be just that; when I want it to vibrate I would select vibrate....
When you check 'silent', scroll down to 'notification sounds' and in there you'll probably see the slider is set to vibrate. turn it off there and see if that works

When I do this, or press a volume key and tap "Silent" at the bottom of the volume screen, my phone stays correctly silent with no vibration.
My usual ring settings are even on "vibrate and ring".
On the side volume toggle button it increases the ringer and the system volume in big stages (20%) is there a way of making it follow each bar at a time rather than jumping up 20% each time?
In the actual settings you can adjust the system volume by 1% increments, you cannot do this for the ringer!!!!??? it still jumps in 20% increments!!! why? and is there a way around it?
Am i the only one that finds this pants?
I would say so, yes. Because I haven't come across a phone that would let you change the ringer volume in 1% increments. All mobiles I've had in the past have 5 or 6 bars and that's it.
I also feel you wouldn't hear the difference between 60% and 61% ringer volume.
If you use the button, you get the big increments. However if you press the volume button up or down, then use your finger on the screen, you can adjust to each of the bars shown (about 15 of them).
Hopefully this will be enough increments?

I gave this advice to someone recently, and it's totally true, unless you have separate volumes for system and ringtones. The system on can be moved 1 bar at a time, but the ringtone one can't - it moves about 3 or 4 bars at a time.
You can do it with more accuracy is the sound & display settings, in the settings tab.

Nice one mate, that's great. Although you can't do that with the ringer volume, still jumps in big stages.
I wasn't after 1% increments in the ringer inparticular but 20% jumps is a bit drastic, was just thinking it would have made sense to be able to adjust both in the same way.
But your find is exactly what i was after, thanks
@ John & bcorgan,
Given that there are countless threads on here about this, and other volume related issues, does one of you want to pm tboy200 to add both your posts to the Hints & Tips thread on here? That way you both get the glory but, more importantly, we might be able to head off another load of threads on this subject.
Let me know.
Cheers

I have the Verizon G2 and just wondering if anyone else notices the incoming call screen changes. Sometimes I have the screen where the answer/decline buttons are circles and require a slide but other times I have an answer screen with big squares for answer/decline and require a press.
I can not figure out the reasoning why this screen changes formats. I just had 2 calls from the same person and each call was different.
When I'm in a call and get a 2nd call, it normally the big squares. What sucks is that when talking and the phone is on my cheek, the 2nd call comes in, turns on the display and with the huge buttons, I've answered and declined a few calls with my cheek.
I also notice with the latest update that the screen is turning on more often and my face starts hitting buttons. Mostly the clock from the statusbar notification shade, go into time settings and messes up my time. Usually I find my clock in 24hr mode. Today it was 2hours off.
I'm not sure if notifications coming in while on a call is turning the screen on or if the sensor is getting whacky. Its getting to the point where it is becoming annoying so I'm posting about it.
Anyone else notice the dual answer screen formats and having issues with being on calls and the screen turning on? I've been having to hit the power button to force the screen from coming on and launching stuff or toggling my notification stuff.

I have the exact same problem. I actually factory reset the phone to no avail. It's weird absolutely. But I've learned to live with it by not pressing the whole phone on my cheek, instead it's held at a slight angle, just the top speaker on my ear and the rest away from my face. The phone gets less dirty and there's no chance I'll press some things with my face.
I've found that if you manually turn the phone off via power button, it'll stay off. The problem is then ending the call since pulling it away won't turn on the screen.
However I am still curious about the Incoming Call screen theme. Sometimes it uses the small Circles that you click and drag while other calls use the big square button theme. It flip flops randomly.
I can't remember if the Incoming call screen would flip flop before but the screen on/off bug was introduced in 4.4.2
